Good Day everyone! On this weeks podcast we have a special treat. This Chef came to work for me back in 2004 - 2005, when I was working as the CDC at C Restaurant. He was and is a very talented and hardworking cook and Chef. I am happy to introduce you to my friend Antonio Martin of Haven Restaurant and Stevens Cocktail Corner, both in Langley BC. Listen as we delve into his past and heritage, his love of good scotch and fast motorcycles. But mainly his passion for friends, family and his extended community. Antonio is a proud Filipino, he loves his community and absolutely loves sharing it with people and especially other cooks. This was highlighted last summer at COOKSCAMP 2024 where the Filipino Community and its food were highlighted in the first nights cultural meal. He along with some of the best Chefs in the community deliver a meal that will go down in COOKSCAMP history as the one to top. A 250 person Boodle Fight. If you don't know what that means, I highly suggest getting yourself invited to one or at least look it up. I hope you enjoy our chat. As always please feel free to DM me with comments and suggestions on who I should talk with next. Send us your feedback
Diversity, equity and inclusion are all Christian virtues, but they can be disguised as PCIE - Pressured Conformity, Inequity and Exclusion. That can happen easily inside or outside of the Church, but the Church cannot afford to conflate virtue with political pragmatism. The prophetic Church does the quiet work of diversity, equity and inclusion without press releases. On today's episode I have a conversation with Harold Gutierrez, who is from Langley BC where he works as the Intercultural and Indigenous Ministries director for the British Columbia and Yukon District of the PAOC. He has pastored in Florida, North Carolina and BC and currently working on a PhD. Today we want to talk about cross cultural communication, discipleship, pluralism and the ways that we can grow in working together across the cultural divides.

I have been lucky enough to meet many Chefs over the years, but I don't think I know one who is more passionate about our industry than Thompson Tran. Raised in Langley BC, his love of food was just a way to make a living and a way to explore his other passions. Then food and being a cook became his way of life and he has done more than most to make our industry better from the inside out. He is a teacher, an entrepreneur, a restaurateur, a passionate chef, a musician and a loving family man. I hope you learn as much as did from Thompson Tran.

Have you struggled with thyroid issues? Do you suspect your hormones are out of balance? Do you do too much, have poor boundaries around your time and energy, and run your adrenals like a beat horse? We started this discussion with me asking Dr. Scott Tyler ND to tell us what's in his personal medicine bag? What does he always have on hand and ready to go? This quickly segued into a meaty discussion on thyroid function and iodine supplementation (if you want to jump ahead to the iodine and thyroid bit, start at 5:00 minutes) - do NOT miss this one! Followed by a discussion of the adrenals and once again how the mind/emotions are integral to healing both thyroid and adrenal issues. If you've been struggling with thyroid issues; fatigue, weight gain, loss of memory, feeling cold all the time, hair loss - then you will find this podcast enlightening and liberating. Oh and BIG NEWS: If you're currently on one of my StrictureHeal protocols (which use iodine) you no longer have to monitor your thyroid! Dr. Tyler will tell you why. Video first and scroll down to the bottom if you prefer to listen as a podcast (here or on your favorite platform). Here is some more support/evidence for Dr. Tyler's advice: "Dr. Michael B. Schachter says, “The treatment dose when a person is iodine insufficient is generally between 12.5 mg and 50 mg daily. Preliminary research indicates that if a person is iodine insufficient, it takes about three months to become iodine sufficient while ingesting a dosage of 50 mg of iodine daily and a year to achieve that while ingesting a dosage of 12.5 mg of iodine daily. For those who are interested in maintained dosages after disease and deficiencies have been dealt with understand that your thyroid gland alone needs about 6 mg of iodine per day for optimal function; the breasts of a woman will need approximately 5 mg/day (women with larger breasts need more); and other body tissues such as your adrenal glands, thymus, ovaries, hypothalamus, and pituitary gland need about 2 mg/day. Thus for optimal wellness adults should consider approximately10 to 12 mg/day." And from the prestigious Orthomolecular Medicine association: "Feeling tired, having low energy or depression, gaining weight, memory problems, having dry skin, dry mouth or immune system issues? There is good chance your body needs iodine supplementation. The recommended daily amount of iodine by Dr. G. E. Abraham is 0.1-0.3 ml Lugol containing 12.5-37.5 mg elemental iodine. This is the amount of iodine needed for whole body sufficiency, based on a recently reported iodine/iodide-loading test." As I mentioned in the call, I use the potassium iodide we sell in the Shoppe and it is 25 mg per drop. I take 1 drop per day. At some point, I will probably drop that to 25 mg every second day. We close out the call with a discussion of the assault on natural healthcare that's currently happening in Canada, the USA and worldwide. We discuss ways to resist and also to create a parallel reality outside of the illegal and draconian controls being levied on humans at this time. What's in Dr. Scott's Medicine Bag? In case of emergency or natural disaster, Dr. Scott has these items packed and ready to go: Life Straw water filter 3% hydrogen peroxide Iodine (potassium iodide, Lugol's etc) Effective multivitamin Suture material and Steri Strips Duct tape Protein bars Bio Dr. (Allen) Scott Tyler is a second generation Naturopathic physician, following in his father's footsteps. He graduated from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, in 1986, and has practiced in Langley BC since. He developed a keen interest in conditions that relate to metabolic dysfunction, particularly hypothyroidism. He has since co-authored a book, "A Pound of Prevention" in 1995 with his father Dr. Allen N. Tyler, and is presently working on a book of his own about thyroid disease. He participated in a private herbal product company in BC, "Bowen Island Botanicals", that specialized in organic herbal tinctures. He served as vice president and a board member for 10 years with the Northwest Naturopathic Convention, chaired the Canadian Naturopathic Education and Research Society, and sat on several committees of the BC College of Naturopathic Physicians. Dr. Tyler established a free clinic for the homeless, in Langley at The Salvation Army, with his lifelong friend Dr. Ted Sleigh. In 2018 he joined the Boucher College Clinic as a supervisor. He believes that the future of the profession lies squarely in the hands of students and new graduates, and continues to teach regularly at his own office as a satellite clinic of the school. He has no plan to retire anytime soon, and so, continues practicing out of the oldest federally recognized commercial building (c.1889) in “Langley Prairie”, at Murrayville. He spends his free time on his hobby farm, where he lives with his wife and one of their two daughters, and her family. Dr. Tyler does not have a website, but you can reach him the old-fashioned way, by phone: Langley Naturopathic Clinic, Langley, BC, Canada 1-604-530-3130

The start of the week is ALWAYS a rush. This morning, a mass shooting of homeless people in Langley, BC, shook the lower mainland. "Several" transients people were shot in what Langley police call a targeted attack. The targeted shooting comes on the heels of a Joe Rogan podcast with comedian Tom Segura where Trudeau trashed Canada and opined about whether shooting homeless people as opposed to helping them was the answer to solving homelessness for the Richie Rich's. I'm not saying Joe is responsible or that the shooter (who's now in custody) took Joe at his word. The timing and coincidence are incredible, though. On this episode of PIR Radio we have Darryl and Nikki on from Northern Paranormal Investigations from British Columbia, Canada. Here is more about Darryl and Nikki: DARRYL PEARSON, FOUNDER Darryl was born and raised in Ontario, Canada, and is the youngest of three children. He has lived in British Columbia for over 20 years and has been a welder-fabricator for most of that time. Before that he lived in various places throughout Ontario and moved a lot. Darryl also came from a split family, but always had the support of both his parents. He started investigating the paranormal as a result of his drive to discover the truths and/or untruths behind the causes of paranormal activity, also having had a few experiences that put him on course with the paranormal. Darryl is what some people call "sensitive" and has been known to see and feel things in ways others may not. He uses both his senses and technical equipment to investigate, and help people understand what they are experiencing; hopefully supply answers. As the founder of N.P.I. Darryl brings a positive, professional, enthusiastic energy to the group, which is an asset to all our investigations. Darryl has been doing investigations into the paranormal for more then a year now and has gained a lot of experience in the field having been both a member and a lead investigator of another group. He feels with himself and his team’s knowledge that N.P.I. will be a group to look to for help and answers when needed. NIKKI PETERSON, LEAD INVESTIGATOR Born and raised in Langley BC, Nikki has always lived in the lower mainland, and now resides in downtown Vancouver. Nikki has been interested in the paranormal since she was a little child when an elderly woman would come and sit in her room at night and sing to her, comfort her. As Nikki grew into adolescence, the paranormal activity around her grew in frequency and intensity. At this time, she was also introduced into the metaphysical realm. This is when she found out for sure about her “sensitivities” and telekinesis. By the time she was a young adult, she had already won one battle with a demon. To this day, she does not fear ever facing one again. Nikki comes with a resume including working with a few other investigative paranormal teams and brings with her the knowledge learnt with each one. Every place Nikki has lived, she has had ghosts follow. Almost daily, things will be moved around, sounds made, unexplainable happenings, being touched and even on occasion she will actually see her visitors. Despite all of her personal experiences, she faces every moment as a skeptic first. She will never assume that any off thing happening is paranormal, no matter how weird it may seem. When Nikki isn’t expanding her knowledge of the mysterious and unknown, you can usually find her at a coffee shop or the beach with a coffee and a good book. Her other hobbies include 8-ball, photography, videography, and poetry. When not working in her capacity as a paranormal investigator she is an administrative clerk for a large heavy construction/ engineering company. She loves her job and is thankful that she can work with such wonderful people. Nikki is also very close to her supportive family for who she can’t thank enough for all the love and guidance they have given her throughout the years. When the opportunity came for Nikki to join Northern Paranormal Investigations, she knew it was the right thing for her to be doing and is happy to be living one of her dreams. Thank you for your continued support and please visit our website at www.pirradio.com
