Vicky White was well-liked and respected by her co-workers in the Alabama jail she ran, and by the inmates she supervised. They were shocked when, on one of her last days on the job, she vanished with accused murderer Casey White. It wasn't until later authorities discovered the pair had a secret relationship for years, and they escaped so they could finally be together. After eleven days on the run, the manhunt came to a tragic end. Through surveillance video and audio from their secret phone calls, Netflix's Jailbreak: Love on the Run chronicles Vicky's plan to spring her dangerous lover and the nationwide search for the couple. It also seeks answers to the question: why did Vicky do it? In this episode of You Can't Make This Up, host Rebecca Lavoie interviews executive producers Dan Abrams and Rachel Stockman. SPOILER ALERT! If you haven't watched Jailbreak: Love on the Run yet, make sure to add it to your watch-list before listening on. Listen to more from Netflix Podcasts.

We're off to a rough start here in Season 4 of Emily in Paris, but buckle up because we're in it for the long haul. Between the tired love triangles, the cliched sit-com moments, and the inexplicable personality pivots, we're scared to see what the rest of Part 1 will bring us. Only one person can save us from this assured destruction, and it is our queen, Sylvie Grateau. (Okay, fine, two people -- can't forget our beloved Luc). Don't forget to rate and subscribe! "For all the speculators out there, there was no splitting the prize money, no talk about that beforehand, no 'You go first, I go second.' No 'Conner let me win in New Haven, so I have to let him win at the Trials.' It really just happened. I want to make that 100 percent clear. I wouldn't have it any other way. It was pure, raw emotion of enjoying the moment." It was the marathon finish we all couldn't stop talking about. At the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials Marathon, former Brigham Young University teammates and current training partners Conner Mantz and Clayton Young ran stride-for-stride every step of the way, until Conner broke the tape just ahead of Clayton. Together, they went 1-2 on the podium, securing their spots on Team USA for the Paris Olympic Games this summer. This week we trade rainbow technicolor dreamcoats for someone we normally only talk about near Christmas. That's right, it's time for the other Joseph (of nativity fame) to shine! God visits him in a series of dreams, and while it is ultimately really big, really GOOD news, it's also fear-inducing, life-changing, and pushes Joseph to places he never imagined he would go. "Moral of the story is if a girl is gonna stick around you when you're sleeping until 12:30 in the afternoon, she probably likes you. Marry her." Happy Valentine's Day! Welcome to the seventh and final episode in this year's Love on the Run Week series. Today, Jersey is in the house! Professional runners Josette Norris and Robby Andrews join the show to talk about the first time they met, the actual first time they met, and what they're each like on the sidelines when the other is racing (spoiler: loud!). Josette signed with Reebok in 2020, and is fresh off a breakout year where everyone was talking about "Josette Norris from New Jersey." And 2022 is already off to a solid start for her, with personal bests in the 1500m and the 3000m. Robby is in his tenth year competing as a professional athlete. He is sponsored by adidas, and is a 2016 Olympian: He competed in the 1500m in Rio. In this conversation, Josette and Robby (who got engaged in 2020) keep it fun talking about Robby meeting Barack and Michelle Obama and about how wedding planning is going. But they also talk about dealing with tough stuff, like Robby's experiences with Lyme disease, injuries, and surgeries, and Josette's experience being thrust into the running spotlight last year, and how she handled that. Robby offers an epic answer to the "What food would you make for Josette?" question in the Sprint, and they talk about what's on tap for 2022. "I feel like I'm the best version of myself when he's around." It's a big weekend for professional runners Sinclaire Johnson and Craig Nowak! Sinclaire and her Union Athletics Club teammates just broke the DMR (distance medley relay) world record in Spokane, WA (Sinclaire ran the 800m leg), and Craig was tasked with pacing 1500m and the 3K. But when they're not racing, pacing, or record-breaking, Sinclaire and Craig live and train together in Portland, OR. On this episode, they share the story of how they met (at Oklahoma State University, where Sinclaire was a freshman and Craig was a fifth year senior), what it was like dating long-distance after Craig graduated, and moving in together. Sinclaire, an NCAA 1500m champion who signed with Nike after graduating, talks about her decision to leave the Bowerman Track Club last year and to join Union Athletics Club, where she is coached by Pete Julian. She talks about having that conversation with former coaches Jerry Schumacher and Shalane Flanagan, and about why the Bowerman training style wasn't working for her. And Craig talks about becoming "the pacer guy," about his role as an official pacer on race day, and about how he navigates his own racing goals with his pacing duties. “It was that classic thing of, ‘Want to go study together?' with no actual interest in studying whatsoever.” In the summer of 2011, the northeast was preparing to get hit by Hurricane Irene. At Providence College in Rhode Island, a group of students gathered in a dorm room to ride out the storm together. Two of those students, both at Providence to run competitively, were Emily Sisson and Shane Quinn. On this episode, professional runner Emily and mental health counselor Shane talk about why they were immediately attracted to each other (no "speed goggles" necessary), and how their relationship started (shout-out to the Providence Place mall!). They reflect on major moments in Emily's running career, like winning the 10K at the U.S. Olympic Team Track & Field Trials last summer, and talk about what it was like when Emily competed at the Olympics but Shane couldn't be there with her. “I thought he just wanted to be my friend!” Love on the Run Week, day four! Today we're joined by Minnesota Distance Elite's Annie Frisbie and Dhru Patel. Annie is in the midst of a breakout year on the run. She made her marathon debut at the TCS New York City Marathon in November, where she ran a 2:26, finishing seventh overall and as the third American woman. That time was the fourth-fastest marathon debut by an American woman. Then, Annie signed her first professional sponsorship deal with Puma. Last month, she raced for the first time in her new kit and shoes at the Houston Half Marathon, running a 1:10, finishing 10th, and immediately saying she was "hungry for more." When she's not running professionally, Annie is a graphic designer. On this episode, we hear all about that day in New York City from Annie's perspective, and from Dhru's, who was there to support his girlfriend and teammate. Dhru explains why he's taking a running and training break right now, and about what his days look like without running and competing. Dhru is perhaps best known for making history in April 2019. He was a senior accounting major at North Central College and ran the 5,000 meters at a meet at Stanford. Dhru finished in 13:51, breaking a 42-year division-three record. "I was like, you know what, any woman who can hop over a fence in a dress — I need to know more about her!" It's day three of Love on the Run Week, and Natalie and Jerold Mitchell are here! Natalie and Jerold have been married for more than two decades, and have three children together. They live in Los Angeles, where Jerold works in human resources, Natalie is a run coach (she's also a 12-time marathoner with a 3:05 personal best), and they co-host the Suite Run podcast. On this episode, they talk about the first time they met (Natalie was not interested), about bonding at a friend's wedding, and about dating long-distance for two years before Jerold moved to L.A. to be with Natalie. Jerold shares the story of surprising Natalie by running a marathon with the hopes of proposing at the finish line — and they laugh about how that story actually played out. (You will, too.) "Best buds for life." On the surface, sisters Sarah and Marisa Cummings seem like they could be twins. Both were competitive ice skaters and valedictorians of their respective graduating high school classes. They each went on to attend Princeton University, where they each ran on the cross-country team. Then, though three years apart, they each moved to New York City to pursue jobs in the finance industry and to run for the New York Athletic Club. But to know Sarah and Marisa is to know that they aren't identical, they swear. On this episode, Sarah and Marisa talk about their sisterly bond, and about how they've supported each other over the years. SPONSOR: UCAN — Go to ucan.co/ontherun for 20% off your next UCAN order! “That was the kicker: Matt said, ‘If the dog doesn’t like you, you have to go.’” One day, in Flagstaff, AZ, professional runner Matt Llano walked into a local coffee shop where Brannon Harbur was working. That first day they met, they talked for hours — long after Brannon’s shift had ended. They agreed to meet up for a first date of sorts, at a group run. Fitting, for a professional runner. But Brannon wasn’t a runner. Still, he showed up, because he was interested — in Matt, not in running. Brannon went on to run 10 miles (alongside Stephanie Bruce), getting to know Matt in the process. They’ve been together every day since then. Today, Matt is a professional runner for Under Armour and Dark Sky Distance, and Brannon is the Chief Experience Officer of Mental Performance at HYPO2. On this episode, they talk about how running factors into their relationship today, and about the time Brannon tried to teach Matt about accounting while on a long run. (It…didn’t go well.) Plus, they talk about meeting each other’s families, share their coming out stories, and talk about being LGBTQ+ role models in the running community and beyond. They live together in Flagstaff with their two dogs. SPONSOR: UCAN — Go to ucan.co/ontherun for 20% off your next UCAN order! Just when you thought things couldn't get any weirder, we've got David Lynch for you this week and my good friend Steve Diddlemeyer from my movie theater days. We go back to the 90's to discuss one of our favorite quotable films, Wild at Heart. This movie seriously shaped my late teens and probably corrupted my ideas about romance. On the upside, I've never been chased by murderers and people with names like Mr. Reindeer. Join us as we chat about great actors and some pretty strange characters. "Running made me better for our relationship outside of running. It gave me something to give to myself." —Matt Powers I love running and I love love, so what better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than with a live show talking love on the run?! I had a blast hosting this live show with two of NYC's greatest running couples: Matt Powers and Candice Huffine (he's an entrepreneur and she's a supermodel — NBD), and Alex Salazar and Krissa Cetner ("that couple" that got married at mile 6 of the Brooklyn Half Marathon in 2017!). The crowd was amazing (THANK YOU to everyone who came!), and we had the best time talking about the role running plays in our relationships, whether or not we're competitive on the run, and of course, what it's like getting married in the middle of a race. We also covered very serious issues, like the gross things we do as runners, sweaty underwear, snot rockets, and more. Prepare to LOL and "awwwwww." The Criterion Collection, the last vestige of truly collectible DVD and Blu-Ray movies in existence. These are well produced, fancy pants editions of important and interesting films for the discerning film lover. We continue our journey through Jim's collection of movies with... Week 25: Bed and Board/Love On The Run Spine Number: 187/188 Director: Francois Truffaut Genre: French New Wave Undertaking a series of films that transpires over a long period of time is a daunting task. Last year, "Boyhood" stood as the biggest achievement in this arena, although it was far from the first and far from unique in approach. Setting aside the Harry Potter Movies, and the Up Series of documentaries, Francois Truffaut undertook a similar endeavor over 40 years ago with his Antoine Doinel series, which followed a semi-autobiographical character from his troubled childhood, through his troubled adolescence, into his troubled young adulthood, and his... well, at this point, I think you get it, the kid is troubled. This week we churn out a double feature to finish the Doinel cycle and see how this kid with no guide navigates life on his own. It looks quite fun. Here's how it works. You have an 8 screen theater. Every week you pick movies and have a budget/salary cap you have to stay under. Then you compete against other theaters in your league. It's fantasy football for movie people. Our league is Film Thugs 2015 and the password is Porterhouse. And remember, you can be a part of the show any time you wild like. How's that? All you have to do is call or e-mail us. If you live in the US, or any place that makes calling the US easy, just dial 512-666-RANT and leave us a voicemail. We will read the Google Voice transcript and play your message. It's both funny AND informative. If you live outside the US you can call us on Skype at The_Film_Thugs. You can leave a message, or someone might actually answer. E-mail us at thefilmthugs@gmail.com and we will read/play whatever you send us, or you can e-mail thugquestions@gmail.com to be part of an upcoming "Ask the Film Thugs" show, where we answer questions on any subject without having heard them first. Also, we are on twitter @thefilmthugs and on Facebook and Vine. You can also click on one of our sponsor links below and THEY will pay us. That's right. You won't have to pay a PENNY extra, and Amazon/Onnit/Teefury will give us a little taste. Also, be sure to check back often for our new endeavor The Life Masters, where we answer questions to other advice columnists. Thanks for listening, and until next week... Jim out.
It's been nearly 20 years since British composer, songwriter & producer Nicholas Bracegirdle aka Chicane first emerged on the Electronic dance music scene with his signature sound of atmospheric, ambient melodies and shifting moods of uplifting trance. Heavily influenced by Jean Michel Jarre & Vangelis, he has also been a massive influence & inspiration to my musical career, ever since I first saw him perform as support act to Paul Oakenfold in Melbourne in the mid-90s. Opening with his debut "Offshore" & taking you through 20 classics over 2-hours of blissful balearic beats, finally culminating with one of my all-time faves "Middledistancerunner" I hope you enjoy this mix as much as I have putting it together as a tribute to one of the best! As always, enjoy. Magnus Soundtracklisting: 1. Offshore '97 (A Man Called Adam Remix) 2. Still With Me feat. Bo Bruce (Disco Citizens Remix) 3. Autumn Tactics (Chicane's End Of Summer Remix) 4.
