Wayne Rollins Foundation created an endowed award to attract, retain, and develop teachers at The Lovett School, and in 2021 the recognition was modified to recognize some of Lovett's most expert faculty. The faculty named will hold the chair for as long as they remain at our school.ย  Throughout season two of Living Lovett, you've heard from Ben Posten, Amy Story, and David Ecclesโ€”three of Lovett's Rollins Chairs for Excellence in Teaching. On this season finale, it's fitting to speak with the four remaining Chairsโ€”Ashley Sharpton, a Lower School 3rd grade teacher; Eric Schoonard, an 8th grade math teacher; Angela Mitchell, Upper School Spanish teacher; and Kevin Randolph, social science and history teacher. You'll be delighted by the passion each educator has for their professionโ€”and more importantly, the students they teach. This idea is likely why the arts at The Lovett School are a dimension of most of our students' journeys.ย  After all, when we think about whole child learning, our values, and our mission, the heart, in partnership with the head, is centered in all that we do. David Eccles, Dr. Tim Pitchford, and Amy Story join Jessica Sant (Lovett Chief Engagement Officer and host of Living Lovett) to discuss the arts education available to our students and why those opportunities seem to have such an impact. Many parents comment that depending on where a child is at Lovett, the experience might be remarkably different from school to school. While some of this dynamic may be to accommodate the developmental stage of students, the desire is for a culture of One Lovett. This wide-ranging conversation is sure to give understanding of the challenges and joys that can be found in each level, and what parents can expect as their children progress through Lovett. The name David McDonald is synonymous with baseball in the State of Georgia. His career in Georgia started at Wheeler High School in 1979. He ended his run as head coach in 2010. In that time he led Wheeler to almost 500 wins and 7 state playoff appearances. After his time at Wheeler, McDonald has been an assistant at Mt. Paran and the Lovett School. Outside of coaching, McDonald has made a larger impact on the game with his time with the Georgia Dugout Club. He is also a charter member of the National High School Baseball Coaches Association and is in this yearโ€™s ABCA Hall of Fame Class. In this episode we cover his work with the Georgia Dugout Club, what the military did for his coaching career, handling head and assistant coaching duties, fundraising and his experience with the ABCA. The ABCA Podcast is presented by Netting Pros. Netting Professionals are improving programs one facility at a time, specializing in the design, fabrication and installation of custom netting for backstops, batting cages, dugouts, bp screens and ball carts. They also design and install digital graphic wall padding windscreen, turf, turf protectors, dugout benches, dugout cubbies and more. This episode is also brought to you by Marc Pro. That is M A R C Pro. Personally I used it as a coach for my ragged out BP arm and legs after a tough workout. We saw huge benefits with our pitchers and position players in decreased soreness and recovery time. It is an amazing machine that speeds up the recovery process by getting blood flow back to areas that need it. It is durable and cost effective. The Marc Pro needs to be a tool in your peak performance tool kit. I canโ€™t recommend it enough. Hit me up if you have any questions.
