Ordinary Bitter, Best Bitter, ESB and English Pale Ale are not the easiest style to find here in the USA. Fortunately in and around Ohio there are still some microbreweries being them with pride and English tradition. This month we travel up to Mansfield Ohio to talk with Carmone and Duncan MacFarlane to learn what goes into making a great ESB. Being this is our Halloween episode for the year, it is no coincidence that the Phoenix Brewery is housed in a former mortuary. Their resident ghost Charlie makes his presence known! Hopefully it is not too distracting a listen due to the clawing, shuffling noises, and bumps in the night that we picked up while recording. It was no doubt we were picking up something from the paranormal.

Home of ParaPsyCon 3023. Over the next 3 weeks, we bring you some amusing interviews. In this week's show, we bring your our interview with The Ohio Metaphysics and Paranormal Research Team.  Ohio Metaphysics and Paranormal Research (OMPR) is a team that specializes in investigating potential home and business paranormal activity. OMPR is dedicated to helping people understand and coexist with what may be lurking in the shadows by attempting to bridge the gap between the living and the unknown. We do in-depth historical research to try to explain possible activities. It is the goal of OMPR to provide answers that may be needed. OMPR approaches every investigation with care, integrity, and respect for our client's privacy. We are committed to working side-by-side with other paranormal teams and investigators. OMPR also helps to support historical locations by donating our time to paranormal investigations. It is the goal of OMPR to assist our clients and communities while furthering our knowledge and experience of the paranormal.  Amber Founder, Case Manager & Lead Investigator Amber Wellman grew up in Barberton, Ohio but moved to Cuyahoga Falls with her 2 children in 2005, where she still resides. She first became aware of the paranormal as a very young child, she didn't just have the typical imaginary friend…. She had “the guys”. She has seen and felt and heard things others didn't but it was chalked up to her imagination until she got old enough it was confirmed to be supernatural. She tried to make sense of it all. That is what fueled her interest in the paranormal further, the strange occurrences she was aware of but other people around her weren't. She would see people standing nearby that others didn't, or hear whispers in her ear at night while trying to sleep, or black shadows swirling around the ceiling. All these things made her wonder what more was out there. She wanted to learn more and not be afraid of the things happening. She has been a paranormal enthusiast for years, searching for answers to the unknown, but professionally only since 2015 when she joined Ectovision Paranormal as a case manager. She has investigated numerous places from famous such as the Hinsdale House, Madison Seminary, and Monroe House to personal homes. She now tries to help others get answers and make sense of the paranormal, the unknown. She co-founded this team in the hopes of helping other teams, places, or homeowners find the answers they are searching for. Her religious beliefs are from being raised in different churches growing up. Amber is an ordained minister and while she believes in God/Creator, she was also raised with native american beliefs. So while she's not a religious person, she is spiritual. She believes that angels do watch over us all but you get back what you put out into the universe. Chris Lead IT, Spirit Counselor & Investigator Chris was born in Ohio, but he has lived in many other places. He has learned spiritual nuances from the many places he has lived from northeastern Ohio to the Smoky Mountains of Georgia; a reservation in South Dakota to Amish country in western New York and points in between. He currently resides in Summit County, Ohio with his wife and children. Chris is an ordained minister who has spent his life interested in and studying the supernatural. He is an empath and both an excellent listener and observer. He suffered from night terrors as a small child, and always searched for a meaning behind why they happened to him. This led him to a deeper study and research of the paranormal and psychology, how it affects life, and how life affects it. Chris also has experience as an investigator and production hand with EctoVision Paranormal. Where he investigated and assisted in filming investigations for private residences and historical sites including places such as The Monroe House, and the Hinsdale House. Chris is actually quite skeptical about most paranormal activities, and yet open possibilities both mundane and supernatural. As a student of both psychology and parapsychology, he has a clear understanding that the world is more than we see, hear, feel, and often understand, but this also means he is always looking for the best answers.  Robin Researcher & Investigator As a youngster I grew up hearing my elders whisper about my maternal; great-grandmother and her " cards" and her "gift", how she has lived a gypsy lifestyle, running away and joining the circus at 14 years old. It wasn't until I was older that I figured out what all the talk was about. I was gifted her "cards" which turned out to be a deck of tarot cards. I have fond memories of playing "cards" with my great-grandmother, little did I know, she was reading my cards! It was a few years later that I learned that she was a clairvoyant, it was then that I became interested in the metaphysical and spirituality. Upon moving out and feeling free to explore, I began reading and learning about my interest.  Upon my father's passing, is when I became interested in the paranormal. I had several experiences where I felt his presence before he crossed over. My experiences lead me to further research about paranormal activity and I have spent years reading, talking, and learning about the world of paranormal activity. I have gone on to have many paranormal experiences. which has kept me interested in learning how I may be of help to others. I have lived in Cuyahoga Falls, Summit County since I was 7 years old. I am a history buff of sorts and familiar with folklore and urban legends regarding the area. I am a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. My motto in life is " The day you think you know it all, is the day you need to throw in the towel" Justine  Researcher & Investigator I have had an interest in the paranormal & metaphysical world for as long as I can remember. Most of us had an imaginary friend, I believe I had a spirit. Most often when a child has a spirit it gets shrugged off as an imaginary friend. Back when I was a child no one talked about it the paranormal, they would believe you were crazy. I see and sometimes feel the energy around me. In regard to the metaphysical world, I have accumulated several stones, gems, and practices. My sister and I go out late a night to places to just sit and see if we connect with anyone. It is really great to share this with my sister by birth. She feels and does not see. A lot of the time we are just called sisters.

Aurelio Diaz, AKA Chico's Brother, AKA Mansfield's 5th ward councilman! Aurelio writes his music under the moniker Chico's Brother. His poetically vibrant, lyrically driven songs, over top of autoharp rhythmic strums is definitely not your typical sound. But its stripped back simplicity and passionate transparency is powerfully beautiful. He puts so much care into everything he does, and I think it shines through in all of his music! Im very excited to hear the new music he is in the process of writing!  Aurelio has such a huge heart for Mansfield, and he is constantly pouring himself out for the betterment of the community itself. Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen to another episode of The Open Mic Podcast! With your host Tom Hirst, brought to you by Richland Source and Newsroom After Hours! This weeks episode we get an in depth look into the rapidly growing music scene/culture of EDM/DUB step music. Our guest Tesreflect, not only produces his own songs, but also performs them out live as a DJ. It was a massive pleasure having him on the show, not only for his vibrant song writing ability, but his extensive understanding of where this genre of music has stemmed from historically.  This episode was immensely refreshing to me. Talking to people about music can bring out an excitement from within that you don't usually see on the surface level in typical interactions. Tesreflect to me, genuinely is passionate about this genre of music, and I really feel it translates in this interview. The rich history and culture in this realm of music is one of welcoming hearts and open mindedness towards anyone that wants to just enjoy the euphoria of body thumping bass and upbeat head bobbing positivity. The culture is exploding and I look forward to hopefully seeing more of these kinds of shows in the future! Tereflect also gave us our first live performance since I have taken over as host. Scott Schafer   Let us begin, what, where, why or when Will all be explained like instructions to a game See I'm not insane, in fact I'm kind of rational When I be asking you, "Who is more dramatical?" This one or that one, the white one or the black one Pick the punk and I'll jump up to attack one  -- KRS One; My Philosophy, 1989   Want to have a fun and easy conversation? Let's talk about race in the world if cybersecurity.   Let's go with some numbers… According to the International Consortium of Minority Cybersecurity Professionals, the cybersecurity workforce looks like this. 6% African American 7% Hispanic The total U.S. workforce is 11% Black and 15% Latinx by comparison. Who better to jump into this conversation than a right handed, blue-eyed, US born, white straight CIS-male… I don't pretend know much about this… but I know people who do because they have fought the battles and are providing the opportunities.   On this episode of pm73media, Matt Stephenson welcomes in Brandon Gilmore and Marco Figueroa for a blunt conversation on opportunities in tech for young Black and Brown men. They are both going to be point blank honest on their experiences, opinions of the industry and what they have done and are doing to make our business look more like the rest of the world that surrounds it. Dig it   About Brandon Gilmore Brandon Gilmore has been a noteworthy leader and talent in the public sector industry with experience in cybersecurity and intelligent automation. Led by three core values - faith, family, and collaboration - he regularly engages with decision-makers on initiatives that center around strengthening our nation against digital threats and preparing the 21st-century workforce. You may know him from his work as Federal Marketing Manager at Alteryx, but Brandon is also the founder of Ready Rock Institute of Technology. This non-profit focuses on creating pathways for underprivileged youth through STEM. Creating diversity, shortening the income/wealth gap, and uplifting communities out of poverty. Over the course of his career, Brandon has aided and mentored dozens of young men who have since gone on to college, entered the STEM field, become entrepreneurs, and gone on to play professional sports. He was born and raised in Mansfield Ohio and holds a degree from Ashland University.     About Marco Figueroa Marco Figueroa is Head of Product at BreachQuest. His technical expertise includes reverse engineering of malware, incident handling, hacker attacks, tools, techniques, and defenses. He has been a speaker at Defcon, Hope, and other security and hacker conferences.     About Matt Stephenson My name is Matt Stephenson (@packmatt73) and I have hosted podcasts, videos and live events all over the world which put me with experts on every corner of the cybersecurity landscape. pm73media is my first solo endeavor. On this platform and others to come, I will continue to expand upon the tradition we started with the Insecurity podcast as I seek out the leading minds in the tech industry and beyond. I am always looking for fun people who may break things every now and again.   In 20 years in the ecosystem of Data Protection and Cybersecurity I have toured the world extolling the virtues of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and how, when applied to information security, these technologies can wrong-foot the bad guys.   Whether in person, live virtual events or podcasting, I get to interview interesting people doing interesting things all over the world of technology and the extended world of hacking. Sometimes, that means hacking elections or the coffee supply chain... other times that means social manipulation or the sovereign wealth fund of a national economy.   Wherever I go, my job is all about talking with the people who build, manage or wreck the systems that we have put in place to make the world go round...   If you tuned in to any of my previous podcasts, there's great news… pm73media is here! FairPlay EP2 | Christopher Tucker 19 Years And Counting For A Crime He Says He Did Not Commit April 26, 2021 | Imran Siddiqui | JusticeNews.Net Here we go again. Another one of those bizarre cases where you can easily see the ongoing injustices within the U.S. judicial system, despite the claims that America is one of the last beacons of hope to find justice in this wretched world where power, greed and self righteousness rules the minds and the corrupted souls of our scattered societies. I'm not saying that everything is screwed up in America, when compared to the rest of the world, no doubt North America is one of the last frontiers where common sense and compassion prevails and there are examples where justice was achieved. But that was because people fought for it, it wasn't like the State would voluntarily come forward and say, oh, sorry, we destroyed so many lives forever, so let us be morally just and right this wrong that we have brought upon others. Christopher Tucker is at the Richland Correctional in Mansfield Ohio, and from there, in his own words he says, " I'm not a saint, but I never took another person's life". Then why is he still in prison? The evidence, that he clearly holds, proves a lot of what he's been saying, and the fact that he has spent more time in prison than what was offered to him in the plea deal, also proves what he's been claiming the past 19 years. He has stuck by his innocence for almost two decades now, we dont keep a promise for two weeks. All that he asks for, is to give him a chance, to prove his innocence in a court of law. But that chance is nowhere to be seen, yet. His appeals have been thrown out, evidence discarded, witnesses tampered with and coercion at it's core, now the only course of action he's left with is to go to the supreme court. It's a long shot. Chris says he's got nothing left to lose, except his wrongful conviction and an unjust imprisonment. He took the witness stand and told the jury how he did it, and they put him on Death Row. When the U.S. Supreme Court ruled the death penalty unconstitutional in 1972, his sentence was commuted to life in prison. The very next year, his jailers decided he was a pretty good prisoner, so they let him go Christmas shopping. Alone. At a Columbus mall. Eubanks walked away, and hasn't been seen since. But last year, the US Marshalls decided he'd been free long enough, and promoted him to their Top 15 Most Wanted in an effort to find the now 75-year-old man they are confident is still living and enjoying his freedom.   www.ohiomysteries.com   feedback@ohiomysteries.com   www.patreon.com/ohiomysteries   www.twitter.com/mysteriesohio   www.facebook.com/ohiomysteries Music:  Soft and Blue, by Damn the Witch Siren.      Beards Behind Bars 2 was held a few weeks back at the historic Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield Ohio.  The Beardcaster attended this event, where he placed 3rd to Luke Sumpter, 2nd place, and Butch Amos who won the goatee category.  The best part of the evening was a tribute beard by Natali Johnston of the Holy City Beard and Mustache Society in the Whiskerina “Natural” category.  When the Whiskerinas make “tribute” beards they usually pick an influential person in the bearding community and try to emulate their style, their look, and their facial hair as best as they can.  Natali chose to make her tribute to me, The Beardcaster.  She did such an amazing job with all the details she included in the tribute.  The hair color was spot on and the outfit was on point.  I had actually given Natali a microphone and recorder earlier in the afternoon so she could play around and record some silly stuff.  Little did I know she was going to use those [pieces to complete her best masterpiece yet!  I had planned on getting some crowd interviews at this event, which was presented by Beards Of The Old Northwest and Duck River Beard Co., but I left that to Natali as I felt she would do a fantastic job!      Natali interviewed many people and gave me about 3+ hours of tape to go through!  I spent many hours going through the first hour plus and was able to put together this episode.  She talked to a few attendants and it was really entertaining to hear her use some of my phrases and for people to tell her what a great job she did replicating my look.  She then interviewed all of the judges for the event and asked them all what they were looking for from the contestants that were to be critiqued. I was very honored and proud of the job she did and still can’t believe that she picked me to tribute.  Be sure to visit www.thebeardcaster.com/blog/72 to see all the photos from the event.  I hope you enjoy!   After a successful 2017 event at the world-famous and historic Ohio State Reformatory, Beards of the Old Northwest is taking you back to prison for "Beards Behind Bars 2" on Saturday June 30th, 2018!
