Send us a textEver find yourself exhausted from the social media hamster wheel? That constant pressure to post, engage, and hustle—all while wondering if it's actually growing your business? You're not alone.Meet Stefanie Gass, a podcast coach and seven-figure CEO who discovered a revolutionary path to business growth: abandoning social media entirely. When Stephanie hit rock bottom in her business, she made a courageous decision to follow a prophetic dream and start a podcast. What happened next defied conventional wisdom. She went completely dark on social platforms for two entire years and watched her business explode into multiple six figures solely through her podcast. The secret? Understanding the fundamental difference between social media consumption and podcast listening. "Social media marketing doesn't work to grow your business because it's a five-second dopamine hit," Stephanie explains. "People aren't in the posture of learning." Contrast this with podcasting, where listeners deliberately choose to give you 15-30 minutes of their attention while driving, exercising, or completing tasks.Throughout our conversation, Stefanie breaks down her exact framework for podcast success—from defining your "micro-micro niche" to crafting monetization strategies that match your audience size. Whether you're just starting out or looking to pivot your existing business model, she offers practical pricing benchmarks and validation techniques to build confidence. Most importantly, she shows how podcasting offers mothers the rare opportunity to build substantial businesses without sacrificing family time or falling prey to the constant content documentation trap.Ready to reclaim your time while creating more impact and income? Stefanie's approach proves there's a better way than the social media hustle. Tune in to discover how long-form content could transform your business just like it did for her thousands of successful students. If you've ever been awake at three a.m., tossing and turning and wishing you could snap your fingers and get back to sleep, then you know: the more you try to fall asleep, the less likely you are to drift off. In this week's guided practice, we're revisiting a meditation with Mark Bertin that can release the striving, let go of tension, and make it easier for body and mind to settle into rest. A quick note: Since this is a sleep meditation, you won't be hearing a closing bell or statement like usual, but instead just a drifting off into silence. Many modern Western cultures don't have a deep understanding of land as a source of collective identity, story, or purpose. There is a sense that, yes, land can be lovely—but it is mainly seen as a source of recreation or extraction, not necessarily as an integral part of what shapes us and future generations. In this guided practice, Indigenous scholar and teacher Yuria Celidwen introduces a fresh way to consider our connection to the natural spaces around us. This is a practice that invites reverence, gratitude, and belonging, where our experience of the earth moves from being strictly transactional to being interconnected and relational. This meditation is part of our Powerful Women of the Mindfulness Movement series, where we're sharing guided practices from the women featured in our 2025 special edition of Mindful magazine. Recent studies have confirmed that the constant presence and use of tech in our lives have become a hazard to our well-being on multiple levels. Meditation teacher, mindful tech designer, and self-identified tech lover Jay Vidyarthi observes, “It's okay to enjoy technology. Tech becomes a problem when we get so attached to it that our lives fall out of balance—and this happens because a certain device or app or game or even your work email might satisfy a specific, lacking, healthy emotional need.” So how do we mindfully hold that tension and seek balance in our relationship to technology? In today's meditation, Jay leads us through a contemplative practice that can help us dig down and understand our motivations for using tech, while also identifying ways to be more intentional about the why, how, and when of our digital consumption. When you're the parent of growing children, finding pants that actually fit can feel like an impossible quest. One week they fit perfectly, and the next your child's ankles are suddenly exposed while the waist is swimming. It's a universal parenting frustration that Lauren, founder of Gili Guise, experienced firsthand with her tall, texture-sensitive son."I needed something that could get on and off easily, that could adjust with boys as they grow, whether they're tall and lanky or they're a little bit thicker," Lauren explains. After countless shopping trips ending in unworn clothes and wasted money, she took matters into her own hands. Drawing on her determination rather than fashion experience, Lauren designed pants that could extend in both length and waist, starting with a reasonably sized waistband instead of the oversized ones typical in adjustable children's clothing. The name Gili Guise represents the entire family behind the brand—Greg (G), Indy (I), Lauren (L), and Ireland (I)—reflecting how deeply integrated family is in every aspect of the business. Lauren's children don't just model the clothes; they're actively involved in the design process, offering opinions on colors and patterns. This family-first approach has created clothing that truly works for kids, from the soft, durable denim to the tag-free construction that won't irritate sensitive skin.Beyond creating practical children's clothing, Lauren has built a brand that empowers mothers to pursue their passions while still prioritizing family. She navigates the delicate balance of entrepreneurship and motherhood by working early mornings, during school hours, and late evenings, always ready to put down her work when her children need attention. "I want my daughter to know that there's opportunity for women to do whatever they want if they have the passion and drive to do it," she shares. Forgiveness is a cornerstone practice of mindfulness, and it's also one of the most difficult. Extending forgiveness to others and to ourselves requires a kind of awareness and vulnerability that can feel deeply uncomfortable, especially if we are carrying heavy stories of shame, anger, or resentment connected to that experience. In today's guided practice, Will Schneider from Men Talking Mindfulness walks us through a forgiveness meditation filled with kindness, grace, and surrender that's designed to help us walk a little lighter in the world. Amy Leclerc's journey from the glossy world of New York fashion publishing to franchise co-owner of Sit Still, a revolutionary children's hair salon concept, is a masterclass in career reinvention and entrepreneurial vision."I joke that every year it was a different apartment, a different job, a different boyfriend," Amy laughs, painting a vivid picture of her early New York career—a real-life "Devil Wears Prada" experience that taught her invaluable lessons about taking big swings in business. When motherhood brought her back to the Pacific Northwest, she spotted untapped potential during her son's first haircut at a local children's salon called Sit Still. The experience was unlike the primary-colored, cartoon-filled environments typically aimed at children: "Unlike the doctor's office or daycare, it was so cool... there was a retail shop selling Moroccan oil, irreverent t-shirts, temporary tattoos." That moment of discovery planted the seed for her next entrepreneurial chapter.Drawing from her experience scaling Bar 3 fitness studios from a small operation to over 150 locations nationwide, Amy approached Sit Still's founder with a vision for national expansion. She shares candid insights about what makes franchising work: "Franchising at its best should feel like paint by numbers." This means creating detailed playbooks covering everything from training protocols to bathroom amenities—all the elements that create a consistent brand experience while allowing for local market adaptation.Perhaps most compelling is Amy's philosophy on reimagining success as a working mother. Describing herself as "unemployable," she's designed a career that allows her to "play around with the Legos that are my schedule" to be present during her children's pivotal moments. "When your kids embark on middle school, high school... that's the time to be present. That is when the stakes are higher." Her story proves that entrepreneurship can create the freedom to align business success with personal values—a powerful reminder that we can design careers that serve our lives rather than the other way around.Ready to reimagine what success looks like on your own terms? Amy's journey will inspire you to take those big swings while staying true to what matters most.Resources:Sit Still Kids: https://sitstillkids.com/ The Ultimate Time Audit & Productivity System (Freebie)Grab it here: TIME AUDIT WORKBOOKHow to Hire Your First VA for $27Get it now: GROWTH CHEATSHEETDiscover Your WHY – Free 5-Day WorkshopSign up for free here: DISCOVER YOUR WHYThe Mom Balance Playbook (Freebie for Managing the Mayhem)Download here: MOM BALANCE PLAYBOOKHire a VA or start your VA business here: https://camillewalker.co/5-Minute Meditations for Kids PodcastListen & subscribe here: APPLE SPOTIFYTop 100 Mompreneur Podcasts: https://podcast.feedspot.com/mompreneur_podcasts/ Connect with Amy:LinkedIn:

Being in pain makes being present extra challenging. On a physical level, being in the present moment while our body is in pain is often extremely unpleasant. There is a part of us, understandably, that wishes we could escape from it entirely. At the same time, the experience of pain itself can be overwhelming—to our senses, our thoughts, our emotions. It can feel like drowning, when what we long for is just a moment of peace to rest in. In today's guided meditation, longtime meditation teacher and pain expert Vidyamala Burch offers a tender practice to find a middle way—one that doesn't lean into denial or give in to overwhelm, but rather allows all that is happening to be gently met, as Vidyamala says, with “wholeness, integration, and kindliness.” This meditation is part of our Powerful Women of the Mindfulness Movement series, where we're sharing guided practices from the women featured in our 2025 special edition of Mindful magazine. For as long as he can remember, Leonard Koren has been searching for beauty and pleasure. Throughout his career, the author and artist—he prefers the term “creator”—has spent considerable time putting to paper expressions and conceptual views that architects, artists, designers, and others have long struggled to find the proper framing of or words for. In 1976, when he launched the counterculture publication WET: The Magazine of Gourmet Bathing, he ushered in the idea of “gourmet bathing,” which has maintained a potent cultural niche in the nearly 50 years since. With Wabi-Sabi for Artists, Designers, Poets & Philosophers, published in 1994, Koren introduced the Japanese expression for “beautiful, imperfect, and impermanent” to the West, where it quickly took on a life of its own. Perhaps one of Koren's greatest talents is his rare ability to translate philosophical meditations on seemingly esoteric subjects into accessible, approachable texts about ways of being, seeing, thinking, making, and feeling. On the episode, Koren details his best—and worst—baths, and explains why he views his life as one long aesthetic experience.Special thanks to our Season 11 presenting sponsor, L'École, School of Jewelry Arts.Show notes:Leonard Koren[4:01] “Undesigning the Bath”[7:30] Century Tower[7:30] 7132 Hotel (Therme Vals)[9:26] “WET: The Magazine of Gourmet Bathing”[9:26] Max Palevsky[9:26] Craig Elwood[13:32] “From ‘WET' to ‘Wabi-Sabi': Leonard Koren's Adventurous Aesthetic Journey”[13:32] Mick Jagger[13:32] Richard Gere[13:32] Debbie Harry[17:09] Charlie Haas[18:25] “The Slow Lane”[18:25] Pilar Viladas[21:49] “How to Take a Japanese Bath”[21:49] “Wabi-Sabi for Artists, Designers, Poets & Philosophers”[21:49] “Wabi-Sabi: Further Thoughts”[28:23] Okakura Kakuzō's “The Book of Tea”[31:38] Glenn Adamson[31:38] Sen no Rikyū[39:29] “Noise Reduction: A 10-Minute Meditation for Quieting the Mind”[42:32] “The Haggler's Handbook”[44:22] “283 Useful Ideas from Japan”[46:56] “The Flower Shop”[46:56] Blumenkraft[46:56] “On Creating Things Aesthetic”[46:56] “Which “Aesthetics” Do You Mean?”
Dr. Tracy McCarthy pulls back the curtain on one of medicine's most overlooked connections: how the food on your plate directly affects your brain chemistry, mood, and overall health. Drawing from her nearly two decades of experience, this revolutionary functional medicine physician shares why she left traditional psychiatry behind after discovering that the standard pharmaceutical approach wasn't addressing why her patients were sick in the first place. What happens when our bodies remain stuck in fight-or-flight mode? Dr. McCarthy reveals how chronic stress fundamentally disrupts our ability to digest food, eliminate toxins, and repair damaged tissues—creating a cascade of health problems that no pill can fully address. She explains why slow breathing isn't just a relaxation technique but a physiological switch that activates healing. The conversation takes a fascinating dive into the inflammatory effects of processed foods, particularly those containing industrial seed oils. Dr. McCarthy explains how the imbalance between pro-inflammatory omega-6 and anti-inflammatory omega-3 fats is like "driving with the accelerator pushed to the floor without any brakes"—a vivid explanation of why so many Americans struggle with chronic inflammation and mood disorders. From practical food swaps to specific supplements that support brain health, this episode delivers actionable advice for anyone looking to improve their wellbeing. Dr. McCarthy shares personal insights about cooking for her family while maintaining health standards, proving that functional medicine isn't just theoretical—it's meant to be lived in the real world where convenience matters.Whether you're struggling with anxiety, digestive issues, or simply want to optimize your health, this conversation offers a roadmap for addressing root causes rather than just managing symptoms. Ready to transform your understanding of food as medicine? This episode might be the most important health information you hear this year.Resources:Dr. Tracy's website: https://www.drtracymccarthy.com/ The Ultimate Time Audit & Productivity System (Freebie)Grab it here: TIME AUDIT WORKBOOKHow to Hire Your First VA for $27Get it now: GROWTH CHEATSHEETDiscover Your WHY – Free 5-Day WorkshopSign up for free here: DISCOVER YOUR WHYThe Mom Balance Playbook (Freebie for Managing the Mayhem)Download here: MOM BALANCE PLAYBOOKHire a VA or start your VA business here: https://camillewalker.co/5-Minute Meditations for Kids PodcastListen & subscribe here: APPLE SPOTIFYTop 100 Mompreneur Podcasts: https://podcast.feedspot.com/mompreneur_podcasts/ Connect with Dr. Tracy:FB: https://www.facebook.com/DrTracyMcCarthy/ IG: https://www.instagram.com/drtracymccarthy Connect with Camille: Follow Camill

What happens when a driven attorney refuses to sacrifice motherhood for career success? Erica Cicero, founder of Cicero Law Firm, shares her remarkable journey from health-compromising corporate burnout to creating a thriving legal practice on her own terms."I remember as a teenager I always said I wanted to go before God at the end of my life and say I used it all. I used every single bit of talent, energy, drive that you gave me. There's nothing left," Erica shares. This powerful drive initially led her down a traditional legal path that left her physically ill and emotionally depleted—until she discovered what she calls "walk away power."When severe health issues and pregnancy complications forced Erica to step back from her career, she made a revolutionary discovery: creating a business model where she could walk away when needed actually enabled unprecedented growth. Her innovative "attorney-on-demand" subscription service now provides small businesses with affordable in-house counsel while allowing her to prioritize her two toddlers. But Erica didn't stop there. With entrepreneurial vision, she's developed a real estate portfolio alongside her legal practice, strategically purchasing properties as future college funds for her daughters. By assembling the right team and accepting help from family, she's crafted a life that feels abundant rather than stretched thin. What makes Erica's approach truly groundbreaking is her recognition that different seasons of motherhood require different work-life arrangements. "Each season of your life has to be defined and analyzed in a different way," she advises, encouraging mothers to regularly ask themselves what they truly want in this precise moment. For anyone struggling to reconcile ambitious professional goals with hands-on parenting, this conversation offers both practical strategies and permission to create success on your own terms. As Erica proves, sometimes the power to walk away becomes the foundation for building something extraordinary.Resources:Erica's website: e.cicerolaw@cicero-law.com The Ultimate Time Audit & Productivity System (Freebie)Grab it here: TIME AUDIT WORKBOOKHow to Hire Your First VA for $27Get it now: GROWTH CHEATSHEETDiscover Your WHY – Free 5-Day WorkshopSign up for free here: DISCOVER YOUR WHYThe Mom Balance Playbook (Freebie for Managing the Mayhem)Download here: MOM BALANCE PLAYBOOKHire a VA or start your VA business here: https://camillewalker.co/5-Minute Meditations for Kids PodcastListen & subscribe here: APPLE SPOTIFYTop 100 Mompreneur Podcasts: https://podcast.feedspot.com/mompreneur_podcasts/ Connect with Erica:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/erica.e.cicero/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ericacicero/
Maternity leave as an entrepreneur doesn't have to mean choosing between your business and your baby. Alyson Caffrey, operations expert and author of the Sabbatical Method, reveals how she transformed from answering client messages hours after giving birth to enjoying a fully present two-month paid leave with her second child. Most business owners build their companies around their unique skillsets, making it nearly impossible to step away. Alyson breaks down the four essential systems every business needs: lead generation, conversion, fulfillment, and improvement. She explains how analyzing your calendar can reveal shocking insights about where your time actually goes – and how much of it you're spending on tasks that could be delegated for a fraction of your hourly rate. The emotional journey of entrepreneurial motherhood runs deep. Your business was likely your "first baby," making it difficult to loosen your grip on the reins. Maternity leave can become a powerful catalyst for business transformation and growth when approached strategically. With only 13 states offering any maternity leave support for self-employed mothers, entrepreneurs must create their own solutions. Alison shares practical strategies for reimagining your business structure based on how you want life to look after baby arrives – from financial preparation to team training and systems documentation. Her advice? Give yourself at least two months to fully embrace the transformative experience of new motherhood, then customize everything else to fit your unique family needs.Whether you're expecting your first child or planning for future family growth while building your business, this conversation offers a refreshing perspective on creating space for both ambition and motherhood.
