Hey everybody, it's Jesse. Thanks so much for listening to Breakthrough Builders.I know it's been a second since we dropped our last episode. That's because the team here has been preparing to share a series of recent conversations I've had with some really incredible guests. Over the next few weeks, you'll hear from CEOs, Founders, and other top executives at some wildly cool brands like Rent the Runway, Peloton, Bonobos, VaynerMedia, LivePerson, Hydrow, and more.My conversations this season will be with Builders who are challenging the status quo to put interesting, innovative, and really important things into the world. Products, services, and especially experiences that make a difference in people's lives, and that are rooted in a shared sense of purpose between company and customer. Before we ‘round the bend into this next series of conversations, I wanted to take a moment to hype up and get you hyped up about our next 2 Guests! On Wednesday, November 3rd, you'll hear my conversation with Jessica Kleiman, Senior Vice President of Global Communications at Peloton. It's Doug's birthday, and on his special day I (inadvertently) remind him of one of the most horrific experiences of his life. This week's guest star is Connie Stevens with whom there are many parallels to last week's star Juliet Prowse. We talk about how a nostalgia for the 50's characterized the 70's, Kermit's version of a Groucho Marx classic, the parody of sexual tension between various Muppets and their guest stars and if the Swedish Chef was just a caricature of the TV chef or a draft dodger in disguise. Next Week: Season 1 Episode 3 with Cabaret star Joel Grey Credits: The Muppet Show - The Walt Disney Company FAIR USE ACT DISCLAIMER Fair Use: Copyright Disclaimer under section 107 of the Copyright Act of 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, education and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Fair Use Definition: Fair use is a doctrine in United States copyright law that allows limited use of copyrighted material without requiring permission from the rights holders, such as commentary, criticism, news reporting, research, teaching and scholarship. It provides for the legal, non-licensed citation or incorporation of copyrighted material in another author's work under a four-factor balancing test.
Our journey begins with South African dancer and actress Juliet Prowse. Doug and I discuss why she looked slightly out of place on TV in 1976, as well as her big break that led to a run in with Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev and a (brief) engagement to Frank Sinatra. Meanwhile, how did the Muppets reflect a growing affinity amongst the viewing public for shows that were about show biz? And we pay tribute to the father of Doug's childhood friend, and writer of one of the Muppets most well-known songs Mah Nà Mah Nà, Mr. Irwin Rawitz of Fresh Meadows, Queens. Next Week: Season 1, Episode 2 with Connie Stevens Credits: The Muppet Show - The Walt Disney Company

Dan, Jack and stand-up comic Billy Kammerer watch Season 24's Gone Abie Gone, a goose chase episode that isn't wild, involving Grampa's estranged jazz singer wife, Lisa's online poker addiction, and a plot baton passed from character to character. Will Jack finally give a zero grade? Who are the famous frogs? And will FX make The People vs. Bill Cosby or just Sons of Anarchy in Space? All that plus coaster chests, sideshow panache, A-Rod & A-Roke, and WEE make a big summer announcement. NEXT WEEK: Season 25's Brick Like Me www.weepodcast.com And help support us by shopping through amazon.weepodcast.com!
Dan, Jack and Uproxx's own Josh Kurp discuss season 18's 24 Minutes in real time, a parody of terrorist drama 24 that has Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer and Homer in a dumpster for some reason. Who has left an interesting voicemail for WEE Studios? Why have WEE lost the ability to count and speak? Do Klingons poop? All that plus torture by stink, cubs of rice, and Pocket Garbage Full of Kryptonite. Vote Mulhall/Picone 2016! NEXT WEEK: Season 24's Gone Abie Gone www.weepodcast.com And help support us by shopping through amazon.weepodcast.com!
Sixty minutes are on the clock and straight outta WEE Studios, Jack & Dan are mashing it in and discussing season 21's The Devil Wears Nada, an episode where Homer becomes Carl's assistant and Marge poses for a racy calendar before nearly having an affair with Ned Flanders. Why did Siskel & Ebert die? What is the code for pupils? How do you get the 100% completion rank at the end of Worst Episode Ever? All that plus the CCH Poundcast, This American Taint, and HAWUSE! Jack, Dan and special guest Mike Walls come out of hibernation to watch Season 15's My Mother the Carjacker, the Robocop 3 to season 7's Mother Simpson, featuring the return of Glenn Close as Homer's fugitive Mom. (Apparently Mother's Day was last week? WEE make our own rules though.) What happened to Chief Wiggum? Will we reset the iTunes odometer? Why might we eat our guests? All that plus prisoner prods, law-laws, and robot hot dogs. NEXT WEEK: Season 21's The Devil Wears Nada www.weepodcast.com And help support the show by shopping on amazon.weepodcast.com!
It's that special day mothers wait all year for... Mayoween! So to celebrate Dan, Jack and Podcast of Terror co-host Matt Stein undo the bar by watching Season 26's Treehouse of Horror XXV, an episode haunted by Ullman-era ghosts and rapist Moes. Why doesn't the third segment have a punny title? Why are all the houses around WEE Studios red? How many layers is Matt Stein wearing? All that plus schmoogies, unsubscribers and a game of Strip Podcast. NEXT WEEK: Season 15's My Mother the Carjacker www.weepodcast.com And support us by shopping on amazon.weepodcast.com!
Special guest Christine Hnath, host of the diorama-less RHONY Recap podcast, joins Dan and Jack to watch Season 12's Day of the Jackanapes, the first post-classic Sideshow Bob episode in which Bob brainwashes Bart into killing Krusty. What do you call Frasier fans? How can you protect your sperm quality? And which guest failed the rigorous WEE vetting process? This week, Dan and Jack watch Season 16's On a Clear Day I Can't See My Sister, an episode where Lisa gets a restraining order against Bart and Homer becomes a Wal-Mart greeter. What's the WEE version of a clip show? What is the Holy Trinity of the English language? Who is Hemus's father? All that plus a pig with an R, Robocop 2 references without context, and The Back of the Marble Notebook Podcast. NEXT WEEK: Season 12's Day of the Jackanapes www.weepodcast.com
It's two weeks to Tax Day and Jack & Dan are discussing the infamously Ralph-Malphless season four episode Last Exit to Springfield, a story adapted from a novel about gang rape that features Lisa being body shamed and lots and lots of contract negotiations. Why isn't this an Encino Man parody? What kind of montage has only one scene? What is Freet's last name? All that plus stainful steel, Ballcast: The Ballers Podcast, and Lisa Needs Braces... Hyperspacetime. NEXT WEEK: Season 10's Simpsons Bible Stories (for real) www.weepodcast.com
Dan and Jack get drunk live on Periscope for St. Patrick's Day with special guest Geoff Wolyniec while watching Season 20's In the Name of the Grandfather. The Simpsons go to Ireland in an episode that begins with a hot tub and ends with Wiggum slapstick. Will The Simpsons make an episode about former Yankee Paul O'Neill? Did Johnny Carson take kung fu with him? Is there such thing as a passive "go fuck yourself?" All that plus a lot of Column B, Irish Soda Bread & Beyond, anti-Picards, Q-Butts and the birth of a character Jack hates more than Hemus. NEXT WEEK: Season 10's Simpsons Bible Stories www.weepodcast.com
Jack and Dan shoot up some heroin and discuss Season 12's Bye Bye Nerdie, an episode where Lisa tries to cure her new bully and Homer becomes a baby-proofer. Is this Lisa's Bart the General? NEXT WEEK: Season 20's In the Name of the Grandfather www.weepodcast.com
It was (or may soon be?) Super Tuesday so WEE are getting political and watching Season 19's E Pluribus Wiggum, a gimmick that sort of resembles an episode with a plot that barely resembles a story. Basically, a number of antics lead to Ralph Wiggum running for President. Did The Purge win on Super Tuesday? Why shouldn't we name He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named? And has Leonardo DiCaprio become an undead creature of the night? All that plus peak guacamole, Butterfinger promises, and Hangin' Brain with Mr. Cooper. NEXT WEEK: Season 12's Bye Bye Nerdy www.weepodcast.com
Dan and Jack celebrate their Seventy Epiventery with a returning special guest, Lani Harms! They discuss Season 13's Papa's Got a Brand New Badge, an episode where Homer becomes a vigilante after Lisa's stuff is stolen. Wait, not a vigilante, he starts a private security company, so it's different from that other episode. Homer also faces off with the mafia on the front lawn after reneging on Marge's pretzel debt...? Or was it ferrets or something? Who are these jokes for? Was this episode scripted by O. Henry? Is a sideways bull breaking into K-Mart to steal some dishwashers? All that plus rancid icing, Mar & Momie, and Gotham Season Four: No Batman Yet. PS, Give us your money. NEXT WEEK: Season 24's What Animated Women Want www.weepodcast.com
Live from Studio D, Jack & Dan discuss Season 16's Pranksta Rap, a cringeworthy episode that sees Bart suddenly love rap before turning into a completely different episode about Chief Wiggum. How sad is too sad for Kirk Van Houten? What does Sting do when he says "cut all this?" And what's the catchphrase for the CEO of Jack's Movies? All that, plus Cootie 2001, 8-Track Things, and lazy American writing. NEXT WEEK: Season 10's Sunday Cruddy Sunday www.weepodcast.com
Jack & Dan record a not-quite-live-to-tape episode while discussing Season 24's The Saga of Carl, an episode that delves into the nature of male bonding and Carl's scandalous Icelandic heritage. Why is Marge sponge-bathing Bart? Who translates every Simpsons ever into Klingon? And what is the Purgatorio of the "Alien" franchise? All that, plus the Internet's #1 Phenom podcast, shockbutt, good transitions, and a nip slip in WEE Studios. NEXT WEEK: Season 27's Barthood www.weepodcast.com
Returning guest Harry Nelson connects the dots for Jack and Dan as they discuss Season 18's "Yokel Chords," a Sound of Music parody about Cletus's kids that also has Bart going to therapy with Meg Ryan. What is "Dark Knight" short for? What does Harry's shirt say? And who has their finger on the pulse of Dan? All that plus Piconing, anti-continuity, and the surprising plot to Christopher Nolan's new World War II movie. NEXT WEEK: Season 24's The Saga of Carl www.weepodcast.com
It's the 2nd annual drunken New Year's episode at WEE Studios where Jack, Dan and special guest Geoff Wolyniec watch Season 14's Old Yeller Belly, a post-classic episode cobbled together from storylines of several classic ones. Has any show gotten more mileage from 60s Batman than The Simpsons? What's the laziest possible name? Is Jack's rug evolving? All that plus no biscuits, Hitler mailmen, iPad Nan-Moes, Dan throws out the baby, The Gwynne & Hepburn Podcast, and a game of Which Episode Is Real? And last but certainly not least, WEE Studios makes a special announcement about 2016 (and kills off the character you hated the most...). Happy New Year! NEXT WEEK: Season 18's Yokel Chords www.weepodcast.com
Jack, Dan and special guest Lani Harms watch Season 26's "I Won't Be Home for Christmas" and compare The Simpsons' writing staff to Albert Camus and Superman villains. Is there enough marrow in the story bone? What will Moe be like in season 42? Why are your parents worried about you? All that plus Jack's jokey penis, the Gay Tramp Podcast and pure, uncut Hemus. Merry Christmas! And THIS episode of Worst Episode Ever is brought to you by our friends at JOQ.com, a company so great, they not only gave us money, but they can develop your websites, apps, videos, and branding all in one place! Check them out! NEXT WEEK: Season 14's Old Yeller-Belly www.weepodcast.com
This week Jack & Dan watch season 12's Skinner's Sense of Snow, an episode about a Christmas that almost wasn't but then was and Homer trying to fuck Bart. Is Skinner the hero or the villain of this episode? What happens if you touch the walls of WEE Studios? What analog solution to HIPO do Dan & Jack really want to have? All that plus wonderful chaos, Willie's perv hole, and the Trump of Hamsters. And this week's episode was sponsored by JOQ.com, purveyors of fine websites and apps. Go visit their website and look around why don't you? And call your mother too, she misses you. NEXT WEEK: Season 26's I Won't Be Home For Christmas www.weepodcast.com

Who or what is the Godfather of WEE? Why did Jack kill Dan's husband? Can a hooker unblow you if you don't tip? All that plus mild kicks, levels of text, and Staten Island's rival to the London Eye. Grab that gristle and join Jack & Dan for Season 18's Little Big Girl, an episode where Lisa pretends to be Native American for some reason and Bart tries to marry his 15 year old pregnant girlfriend. Somehow this felt like a good episode to watch for Thanksgiving. Why is it important to swindle your loved ones? How many times can Jack wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving? And where's the Batman sex? All that plus the Mary Jane theme, gravy tubes, and what (or who) Groophic eats on Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving, WEE Universe! NEXT WEEK: Season 10's Homer Simpson in: Kidney Trouble www.weepodcast.com
Live from a noisy tarmac, Dan & Jack do the Snapchat with special guest Gabe Pulliam and watch Season 14's Barting Over, the 300th episode of The Simpsons (or is it?!) and twenty-two minutes of whimper when Bart becomes emancipated and Tony Hawk is involved somehow. Why are all the hawks in danger? Who is Dan's older fraternal twin? What is a loft? All that plus the Big Three, Pete Pull and our new hit spin-off podcast We Two Talkin' U Talkin' U2 To Me To You Two. NEXT WEEK: Season 22's Donnie Fatso www.weepodcast.com
A Halloween episode... in November?! Classic Simpsons, are we right folks? This time, Dan, Jack and the Alfred of WEE Studios, special guest Geoff Wolyniec, take advantage of the public domain and discuss Season 27's Halloween of Horror, The Simpsons' first canonical Halloween episode and an episode you all overwhelmingly suggested we watch. Why won't Jack do a Rocky Horror podcast with Dan? Are you accidentally listening to a little league game from Spokane? Is this not ancient Rome? All that plus Sideshow Mel Gibson, bad dings, natural holes, and the shocking reveal of the 13th Doctor and his faithful companion. NEXT WEEK: Season 14's Barting Over www.weepodcast.com
Now that their fifty practice episodes are out of the way, Jack & Dan start fresh with a brand new episode, the Season 27 premiere, Every Man's Dream! Homer has narcolepsy, makes sex with Lena Dunham, and nothing at all matters. Why is Dan primed to love rectums? Why is owning Hulu the company better than just having Hulu Plus? What is the ultimate point of WEE? All that plus, aging voice actors, doobers, and Dan tells Jack how Jack feels about his own parents' divorce. NEXT WEEK: Season 19's Little Orphan Millie www.weepodcast.com
Home stretch for Summer 2015, so Dan and Jack watch Season 18's The Boys of Bummer, a satire-adjacent episode where Homer becomes a mattress salesman, Bart attempts suicide, and nothing has anything to do with summer. Why does Marge have secret control over the town of Springfield? Why did J.J. Abrams fix the 2004 World Series? And would you see out Boffo Bucks Disney movie? All that, plus Homer's new catchphrase, the WEE Flip Book, and a consortium of mattress-related conspiracy theories. NEXT WEEK: Season 12's Worst Episode Ever www.weepodcast.com
WEE are joined again by special guest Nick Zurko to watch his suggestion, Season 22's The Blue and the Gray, an episode where Marge tries a new look and all of Springfield shits all over her. Which has happened before, and probably will again... What color is Patti & Selma's hair? How can you save on Neosporin bills? And how does Dan's immune system fight post-classic Simpsons? All that plus the Mr. Mxyzptlk/Vlassic connection, Worst Episode Ever gets a new title, and a preview of our new podcast: Gremlins 2: The New Cast. NEXT WEEK: Season 18's Boys of Bummer www.weepodcast.com
Jack and Dan are being brev this week while they watch Season 23's A Totally Fun Thing Bart Will Never Do Again and discuss experimentation in the post-classic era and just how Simpsony a Simpsons episode needs to feel. Can Jack make up for that mess of an intro? Why can't The Simpsons let the ocean tell the joke? Won't you let us take you on a WEE Cruise? All that plus mass graves, the weird weirds and Dan's spot on impression of people from Columbus, Ohio. NEXT WEEK: Season 14's Helter Shelter www.weepodcast.com
Dan, Jack and returning special guest Dan Ozzi recover from deep-fried Doritos and the end of an era (for like a month or two) to watch Season 20's Gone Maggie Gone, the National Treasure meets Where's Waldo? meets Da Vinci Code meets Ratatouille meets the Apocolypse post-classic episode. Will Dan Ozzi survive the recording? Why are WEE taking on the United States Navy? Where's Podcast? There Podcast. All that plus Jack sneaks in another Stand reference, Dan's dead-on Simpsons Writers impression, Apu/Uter slashfic, sarcastic slang and all the many opposites of chicken WEE can think of. NEXT WEEK: Season 23's A Totally Fun Thing That Bart Will Never Do Again www.weepodcast.com
Returning guest Harry Nelson of the Harry Says Yes podcast rejoins Dan and Jack and suggests watching Season 21's The Squirt and the Whale, a bittersweer Lisa-y episode about wind and whales (the two things Lisa likes). After a windstorm comes to Springfield, Lisa devotes her efforts to saving a beached whale while Bart acts like an asshole and Homer does other things. Why does Jack pet every dog he sees seven times? Does random violence to strangers make Dan laugh? Will Pop-rika become the Internet's hottest selling spice? All that, plus the Tremors life-cycle, Harry drops his notes, and we talk about our #mydesktop wallpapers as we crush our golden iron fists. Next Week: Season 16's Homer and Ned's Hail Mary Pass www.weepodcast.com
Special guest Harry Nelson of the Harry Says Yes podcast joins Jack & Dan to discuss Season 22's The Scorpion's Tale, an episode that features Werner Herzog as a pharmaceutical giant/Willy Wonka character and eyeballs popping out of everyone's heads. Topics include why Simpsons writers need to start showing their work, the means needing to justify the ends when it comes to jokes and storytelling and a classic all over Web of Spider-Man plot. Why is Dan buying so much syrup? Is Jack the Robot Devil? Will there be a Choose Your Own Podcast adventure played out over WEE, Harry Says Yes and Desert Masturbation 101? All that, plus Harry won't shut up, Dan's product placement conspiracy theory expands and Jack begins to talk about some pancakes he ate before thinking better of it. NEXT WEEK: Season 21's The Squirt and the Whale www.weepodcast.com
Crack open a lobsterpolitan and settle in for Season 19's Midnight Towboy, not to be confused with Midnight Cowboy, which doesn't rhyme. Homer has been a plow truck driver, a regular truck driver, but a tow truck driver?! Where do they get their ideas?! Meanwhile, Jack & Dan celebrate their Fortyversary by having a mid-life crisis despite their lives being good enough while discussing extra beats, lingering jokes, and Maggie's IQ. How did Dan crash the stock market with his big soda? Is Groovic the Twophic that broke the Groophic's back? Will "Snap Into a Toe" take America's t-shirts by storm? All that plus Jack's Competitive Mighty Max podcast, WEE retcons itself... and Jeremy Piven. (Ohhh yeaaaah) NEXT WEEK: Season 13's Brawl in the Family www.weepodcast.com
The Simpsons do competitive eating!.... Kind of? We're broadcasting live from and in the fourth person from WEE's French-Canadian death camp studio to talk about Season 25's "Luca$," which doesn't have all that much to do with the character named Luca$, nor the Robert Wuhl series Arli$$. But it does have Zach Galifianakis! Will we be blindsided by incohesion and puns within puns? Do the writers throw in random jokes for shits & giggles, or just shits? Why will Jack start his own PlayStadium corporation? All that, plus, Jack's Groophic impression, an alternate universe with Dack and Jan, and spoiler alerts for Interstellar: Murph. NEXT WEEK: Season 19's Midnight Towboy www.weepodcast.com
The Simpsons go to Africa this week while Jack & Dan stay put in WEE Studios with returning special guest Nick Noga. Season 12’s Simpson Safari, one of our most requested episodes (even Mike Reiss hates it) has a bag-boy strike (they happen!) twist and tweak itself into monkey and diamond-related hijinks with many of Africa’s famous landmarks and tragic quagmires used for comic fodder. Will Nick point out WEE’s flawed ranking system and ever-increasing disconnect with actual Simpsons commentary? Does John Swartzwelder save the episode with a strong first act? Can Jack effectively capture the typical episode-summarizing blurb Dan usually writes for each new podcast, or will he succumb to his natural tendency to use too many clauses and run-on sentences until everyone has finally given up on whatever he was trying to say? All this, plus Amazon’s Cat Drones, the Laugh Command Lunch Box, Jack’s frozen bread and Blood Diamond’s very own Leonardo DiCaprio. NEXT WEEK: Season 15's Co-Dependent's Day www.weepodcast.com
Happy Father's Day to all our WEE Dads who may or may not have ever had sex. In their honor, WEE watch Season 20's Father Knows Worst, a story about helicopter dads, brokeback jugglers and weirdly intricate scene transitions. When Homer tries to become a better father it backfires, which describes a number of better episodes as well. How many different plot threads can they cram into a first act? Can the show get so cartoony in an otherwise realistic plot? And was Charles really in charge or was he just some weird drifter? Plus, amazing mazes, Oscar Wilde, and a special appearance (or several) by dad-bod enthusiast and Inception star, Leonardo DiCaprio (aka the Fifth Manson). NEXT WEEK: Season 12's Simpson Safari www.weepodcast.com
It's Jack's birthday! It's Dan's birthday! It's Nelson Muntz's birthday! Yes, our birthdays are within two days of each other's, and to celebrate, we watch Season 18's The Haw-Hawed Couple, where Nelson has a birthday, nobody comes, and then he and Bart become best friends (and beat up Doctor Octopus). AND the origin of The Book Job's Angelica Button! What a jam-packed episode! Is this the best Homer plot we've seen on this show? Is this the best animated "Goodfellas" parody ever? And how come the Ullman Era voices sounded so much like the Rat Pack? Plus, the secret power source of WEE Studios, mixed up Draculas, and things you can do with a jacuzzi suit. We earn our explicit tag this week, listeners, so keep wee ears away from WEE this week. NEXT WEEK: Season 20's Father Knows Worst www.weepodcast.com
This week, from a very hot WEE Studios, Dan & Jack celebrate LGBTQ Pride Month with Season 16's jumpy-aroundy episode "There's Something About Marrying," the episode where Springfield legalizes gay marriage and Patty comes out of the closet. Do the writers come out in favor or against gay marriage? How does this episode stack up against Homer's Phobia? And when will the famous publishing house Marhouse & Barton publish Dan's fan fiction? Plus, WEE twist the ceiling fan, learn about Huell Howser, and devolve our Ullman-era Simpsons voices into bad Sammy Davis Jr. impressions. We resisted our urges to create characters out of every misspoken word in an attempt to keep this episode on track. Did it work? Next Week: Season 18's The Haw-Hawed Couple www.weepodcast.com
It's a slippity-sloppity, flippity-floppity Worst Episode Ever, where Dan and Jack watch Season 18's Marge Gamer, which is coincidentally about Marge Simpson of "The Simpsons." Marge gets addicted to a World of Warcraft-like video game while Homer has his own wacky adventure coaching Lisa's soccer team. Since when does Lisa like soccer? Is Ronaldo the worst guest star voice on "The Simpsons" or a secret best? And how many elephants are in this damn room? All of this, plus our lack of soccer knowledge, our dead-on Sideshow Mel impression, and a general cavalcade of patented WEE nonsense! NEXT WEEK: Season 16's There's Something About Marrying www.weepodcast.com
Groophic and the GhostSome BODY once told us that Season 11's Behind the Laughter would be a great episode for Worst Episode Ever... so we watched it! Yes this extended parody of VH1's "Behind the Music" first aired 15 years ago (and slightly more than 15 years since Dan & Jack went to go see the Norm MacDonald bomb Screwed). It's basically a mockumentary looking at an alternate reality Simpsons family, and it's one of the least confusing things going on in today's episode. Would this have worked as a series finale for "The Simpsons?" Do people today even remember "Behind the Music?" (Does it matter for enjoying this episode?) And was this a record for how quickly the show fell apart? Plus, Groophic makes a new friend, the ghost of a child that Jack murdered who may or may not be real. NEXT WEEK: Season 18's Marge Gamer www.weepodcast.com
This week Jack and Dan watch Season 26's Bart's New Friend, based on a spec script written by very famous man Judd Apatow in the early 90s. When Homer is hypnotized into being a ten year old boy, he and Bart become good friends... and that's kind of it. It's a simple plot and it (mostly) works. Who here hates stacked parking? How great is it to see a childlike non-jerk Homer just play with a dog? And what is the antithesis of hypnotism? All that, and bee plots, super soaker drones, what waters Jack's mouth and when it's time to go to war. NEXT WEEK: Season 11's Behind the Laughter www.weepodcast.com
Our Thirtyversary brings returning guest Brice Canedo-Pullan (the Grover Cleveland of WEE guests) and our very first Season 22 episode, Love is a Many Strangled Thing. When Homer makes Bart pee himself at a football game, he visits Paul Rudd and Kareem Abdul Jabar to rid himself of his desire to strangle Bart. Sure. Why not. What's the deal with this episode's completely insane story structure? Is he Paul Rudd or Paul Blandd? Will WEE ever get published on time? (Actually, we're switching to Thursday releases from now on.) Plus, the official Dalek theme music, more talk about Stephen King's The Stand, and yes, a little bit more Groophic. This one went so long that our usual deleted scenes is probably going to be a second full episode. That's either thanks for your patience or punishment for your complaining. NEXT WEEK: Season 26's Bart's New Friend www.weepodcast.com
It's the spooooky first annual Mayoween for Worst Episode Ever (in April), where we watch Season 17's Treehouse of Horror XVI, a Halloween episode (which originally aired in November). Makes sense to us. Have the post-classic Treehouses of Horror gotten a lot more gruesome? Why have they transitioned into doing four segments instead of three? And what is Dan going to do with all this mayonnaise? All that, plus Jack learns of the phrase "Smooth move, Exlax," the drama of blank seats at the movies, and our favorite Treehouse of Horror segments. On top of all that, new friend of the show, Groophic, reminds us to wear our bike helmets! NEXT WEEK: Season 22's Love is a Many Strangled Thing www.weepodcast.com
A slight delay, but WEE're back with a brand new episode that may surprise you. Special guest Josh Kurp from uproxx.com makes Jack and Dan watch Season 23's The Book Job, a satirical take on the publishing industry that doubles as Neil Gaiman's comedy debut and an "Ocean's 11" parody. Lisa uncovers a sinister plot behind young adult novels that leads Homer and Bart to write their own. Doesn't sound like comedy gold, but maybe comedy bronze? What's the line between art and commercialism on The Simpsons? Why did we laugh at jokes we didn't even like? And is there a parallel universe where The Simpsons ended after Season 9? (And what are the us-es of that universe podcasting about?) All that, plus Josh talks about his history with The Simpsons, the first CDs we ever bought, and Jack's in-progress book series about coal miner angels. Sorry if the audio is below our usual standards, blame the Ghost Prots. For more from Josh, check out the WEE approved Uproxx.com. NEXT WEEK: Season 17's Treehouse of Horror XVI www.weepodcast.com.
We're past the halfway mark of the year and we "celebrate" with the episode that broke Dan's love affair with The Simpsons, Season 14's "The Great Louse Detective." Yes, our first Sideshow Bob episode here on WEE. When an attempt is made on Homer's life, they turn to Sideshow Bob to root out the killer for no real reason. Was this a mystery episode that made sense? Was it worth it to bring Sideshow Bob back for this particular story? Will Bradley Cooper get his Oscar for "Secreting the Popeye's Elixir?" All that, plus, our favorite Sideshow Bob episodes, Hulk Hogan's failed rap career, and Frank Nelson's butthole. Suck it, Kurt Cobain! NEXT WEEK: Season 23's The Book Job www.weepodcast.com
Business as usual when WEE celebrate a belated Easter and Passover by watching Season 21's "The Greatest Story Ever D'ohed," a delightful episode where Flanders takes the Simpsons to Israel for a loosely defined reason, Homer is at his jerkiest and most sacreligious, and the fun never ends! (Because it never begins! Hah!) When did Bart's catchphrase evolve from "Ay Carumba!" to "Karate!"? Is Sacha Baron Cohen good in this episode or not? And who will win the Popeye's Ultimate Mystery Sweepstakes? All that, plus Dan Brown related puns, how old and out of touch WEE are, and impressions of Ullman-era Simpsons family members talking about butts. NEXT WEEK: Season 14's The Great Louse Detective www.weepodcast.com
Did someone say St. Patrick's Day? Oh that was yesterday? Well, good because this episode only has about three minutes of a St. Patrick's Day parade. Yes, it's that one that Jack thought was all those other ones but it wasn't. It's season 20's Sex, Pies and Idiot Scrapes! Homer and Flanders become bounty hunters because reasons, while Marge works in an erotic bakery without any kind of dramatic tension at all. Sounds like a winner to us! When did Springfield get so many Irish residents? Why do they waste great guest stars with unnecessary characters? And how can there be other Jack Picones and Dan Mulhalls out there? All that, plus black and white cookie stores, intense fears of Marc Summers, and a visit from Joe Pesci. We ate Popeye's before recording this one, so you know it's going to be good. Plus, a stream of special guests waiting for a bus! NEXT WEEK: Season 11's Kill the Alligator and Run www.weepodcast.com
This week, Dan and Jack enter a world of their own creation (filled mostly with action figures) to watch Season 20's Lisa the Drama Queen. Lisa and her new BFF Juliette create the fantasy world of "Equalia" to get away from their problems in a loose parody of Peter Jackson's "Heavenly Creatures." Sure, why not? Is there potential romantic tension between Juliette and Lisa? Is there potential romantic tension between Dan and Jack? And does anyone else remember Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire? Plus, the joys of Crazy Town, the new Mozart, and the best animated mugs. NEXT WEEK: Season 20's Sex, Pies, and Idiot Scrapeswww.weepodcast.com
It's a Popeye's-fueled bender as WEE watch Season 13's "The Frying Game" then slowly lose our minds. Homer volunteers to help an old woman, who then dies, and Homer is blamed. Sounds like comedy gold to us. We're joined by guest and Simpsons Trivia expert Rusty Harding who actually prepared and drops the knowledge that John Swartzwedler - Simpsons Super-Pro and VIP - wrote this fascinatingly weird episode. Does the twist of this episode hold up under any sort of scrutiny at all? How does Homer alternate between world's best husband and murderous coward? And how could "Frasier" succeed where "The Tortellis" failed? Plus, an extended conversation about character actor Dan Hedaya's body of work, tiny doll clothes for your genitals, and a few visits from a friendly, chatty Dalek. Enjoy, and make sure you're subscribed to our feed or you could miss out on our bonus episodes, which may or may not be complete nonsense. NEXT WEEK: Season 20's Lisa the Drama Queen www.weepodcast.com
Our twentieth episodery already? Time flies at WEE Studios... To celebrate, Jack and Dan endure the season 13 clip show "Gump Roast," which features a timely "Forrest Gump" parody, clips from much better episodes, and the damned catchy "They'll Never Stop The Simpsons." Does every episode of "The Simpsons" take place in Homer's mind? Does all of television take place in the mind of a small boy? And why has this show not done another clip show in the past 13 years? Find out, plus Dan talks about the worst X-Men power, Jack ties "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" with Empty Nest, and together they get more gongs than the breakdancing robot that caught on fire. And, because you tolerated it, another installment of Dan's awful teenage Simpsons fan-fiction. NEXT WEEK: Season 13's The Frying Game www.weepodcast.com
It's Chinese New Year this week, so The Simpsons are going to China as WEE watch Season 16's Goo Goo Gai Pan and Selma attempts to adopt a Chinese baby. And it actually starts out really great in a funny coherent first act... which quickly devolves into overly complicated plots and troubling racial humor. Are cartoony gags worth breaking the reality of the show? Is Robert Wagner the real-life Troy McClure? And was Jack's first car powered by squirrels, or cartoon wolves? All that, plus Dan bamboozles a pandamonium pun, Jack loves menopause, and we feel old and bad about ourselves. (We actually mention mimeograph machines in this episode, ask your parents kids.). And Hank Azaria is Sephardic Jewish, not Italian as we ignorantly assume in this episode. Thanks Wikipedia!NEXT WEEK: Season 13's Gump Roastwww.weepodcast.com
Not a "what if?," not a Halloween episode, not a dream, but a real-life fictional cartoon show where The Simpsons go to SPAAACE! Yes, they "break reality" (but really it's long broken, thank you "Saddlesore Galactica") as the family goes to Dizneeland only to wind up taken away to Rigel 7 by Kang and Kodos in an extended rehashing of other episodes. Remember Kang and Kodos' first appearance in Season 2? Remember Itchy & Scratchy Land? Remember Homer eating potato chips in space? Well, get ready for them AGAIN, only slightly different and now in HD! And how does "Star Trek" factor into the ending? It just does! Don't ask questions! All that, plus our Jokes 101 course for preschoolers, terrible Dalek impressions, and those hot rodding teenagers from Dimension X. This was our most requested episode, but is it as good as those Brian Setzer Orchestra parody films? Our answer may surprise you... NEXT WEEK: Season 21's "Moe Letter Blues" www.weepodcast.com
