Gavin Ortlund—writer and pastor at First Baptist Church of Ojai (California)—ponders the question, why do we feel a sense of transcendence when we listen to beautiful music? Where does that feeling come from? What's the best explanation for it? Ortlund compares the naturalistic and theistic answers to these questions, ultimately concluding that music is not a distraction from reality but a window into reality—and that the theistic framework gives a much more satisfying explanation for why it moves us emotionally. For more videos like this, subscribe to Gavin Ortlund's YouTube Channel.

Although she grew up in a wealthy affluent household, she ran away to become a painter and actress against her family's wishes, mingling with the early avant-garde artists of New York Society before joining the theoreticism movement and landing in Ojai California as a sculptor. She lived 105 years, and every single one of them was filled with absolutely humorous and legendary moments that created such an iconic artist, and would even go on to inspire a character from the major hit film, Titanic.Episodes to check out after this one: Hilma Af KlintWant to check out some of our favorite books? This week we are joined in person! Who hoo with one of our closest friends Jessica Dawkins. We have such a cool story of how we met Jess and you'll hear about it in this episode. We are just so blessed to have had her come over and record this episode with us and this one is one of my favourites. Make sure to check out more of Jess's music at INYouth Worship on Spotify & Apple Music. I always tell my closest friends that I know the friendship is from God when I feel closer to him after just being with them and that is exactly how I feel with Jess. We spoke about so much this episode: We spoke about her adventures of living in Phoenix Arizona for five years going to high school in America and going to summer camp in Ojai California, About her love for worship and what her songwriting process looks like We spoke about what worship means to us. We also spoke about the armour of God, what it is and why you should wear it as well as so much more. We know this was pretty much just a candid conversation but guys Jess is so incredibly genuine and just her everyday stories and perspectives teach us so much about life and Jesus. Aside from being the coolest worship leader we know, Jess is such an intelligent songwriter and musician. We hope from this episode you took away that worship and praise is a form of prayer, to never stray away from opportunity, and lastly the importance of putting on your armour of God everyday and lastly. Ashley Berry is a healer from Ojai California and her work involves the use of a variety of modalities to support her own healing and that of others. As a young girl, Ashley was forced to grow up quickly upon experiencing pervasive trauma in the home. Her formative years led her down a path of great understanding, spiritual growth and cultivating strong and meaningful ties to her community. Pain and suffering is the great equalizer and so often the fastest route to becoming self actualized. The grace and humility with which Ashley shares her story is nothing short of touching.

Greetings Rainbow Warriors, I’m coming to you from beautiful Ojai California today. I’m here reuniting with my beloved community after circling the globe not once, but twice in the last year. There is something simply magical about this sacred land. And to see it in the rebirth process after the fires here last fall is a true blessing. Fresh green sprouts and wildflowers abound. After being around the world I can honestly say that Ojai holds my heart like no other place. The energy here and the people that are drawn here create a very special and powerful vortex. A quaint valley surrounded by mountains, full of spiritual centers and named by the Chumash Tribe after the moon, I’ve found it to be an extremely healing and grounding place to be. I’m thinking I should do some retreats here to share the magic with you. You guys in? Check out my Visionary Lifestyle & Podcast facebook page to see some yoga videos here.Send me an email if that sounds good to you. You can reach me at guide@visionary-lifestyle.com So now, on to today’s show. Today’s guest is Achintya Devi. Achintya is the Founder of Goddess Rising Mystery School, dedicated to empowering the Wild Sacred Feminine within our Global Sisterhood through Moon Priestess & Womb Codex Trainings, Red Tent Leadership Certification & Collective, Priestess Path Trainings & Pilgrimages and an online Moon Sisters Temple. Achintya is a Priestess of Avalon, ordained in the Temple of Isis and the Rose Lineage of the Magdalene, sharing oracle transmissions and ancient/future Priestess Arts Training in connection with the Divine Feminine Ascended Masters. Achintya is also an Acupressure Therapist, Wholistic Health Practitioner and Kundalini Yoga & Meditation Teacher. Originally from British Columbia, Canada, she teaches internationally and is based on the island of Maui. I was blessed to meet Achintya in our community here in the Valley of the Moon, also known as Ojai. Then I caught up with her at the LIghtning in a Bottle Festival in California last year and fortunately we found time to get this interview in. Coming up soon on Labor Day weekend  I’ll be presenting again at The Learning Kitchen at the Lightning in a Bottle Festival here in California.  If you’re around come and participate in my “Yoga Starts in the Kitchen” workshop there.  I’ve found that Achintya is carrying deep wisdom that the world, and especially women, need now. Today we are going to Ojai California to talk to a farmer who's more than just a farmer. Max Beecher was inspired into farming by Joel Salatin and Joel's entrepreneurial spirit inspired Max to get created when ti came to his farm based businesses.   Max started out his farm journey in 2013 with wife.  At the time they weren't farmers though, they started out as aggregators...   He describes the experience as "one where we sold produce from a few different local farms to a local customer base we were working on building.  This started by selling #2 produce from a local farm I was volunteering at, and the farmer let me split the gross with him, since he would have thrown the product away otherwise.  Our idea was to make money up front by selling other people's produce, and to build a customer base so one day we could sell our own product through it.  We have continued to grow that webstore business, and it remains a core feature of our business, with a list of almost 300 customers, generating over 100 orders per week.  We now source from around 15 local farms, and have a ready market for our own products, including the micro greens.  Because of building this webstore before we started farming, marketing what we grow has never been a problem, and we throw little to no product away due to over production." That business has continued and evolved today to become a full-fledged online store generate over $100,000 a year in sales at a decent profit.   It's a thriving business and an integral part of Max's farm, and it's one that started by selling someone else's waste. Drorit started Agoura Power of Yoga because she loves yoga and all that it adds to one's life. It brings peace and harmony, clarity of mind as well as a physically fit body. Her class is geared toward new yogis as well as long time practicing yogis who will enjoy the challenge of power yoga and the music her class has to offer. Drorit's training was an intensive one in Yoga Therapy by the incredible Gabriela Hansen in Ojai California. Through her training with Gabriela as well her life experience, she combines a very challenging music filled class with the traditional principles of hatha yoga focusing especially on the therapeutic aspects of the breath and the power of the mind. It is very important to her that she helps guide both old and new into a deep meditation after a tough class that opens the body and prepares the mind to a place of nothingness. This is how true peace is achieved.

I Am Soft Bones Lit with a Misty Diffused Light, Surrounded and Penetrated with Essence, Isness, The All. I Am That Still Point, Between Illusion and Light. From this Place, I See the Space of Emptiness Here Inside That I Have Made by My Dying, Ready to receive this vision of Galaxies Universes End on End Spinning Around the Center of Me Absolute Stillness From Which Is Sucked in and Spit Out, All That Ever Was and All That Ever Will Be. I Am That, You Are That. We Are One anatta Paradoxically, “Anatta”, HWL Poonja, enlightened master, said, "means, I don't exist." Exactly! That was Anatta’s experience late one night almost 20 years ago when the ego/personality disappeared and was seen to have less reality than smoke and dust. Yet a magical life has transpired, regardless. Starting out as a ‘Jesus Freak’ in New York, Anatta lived in Oregon and India as a disciple of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. In the presence of HWL Poonja she washed the Master's dishes, ate radishes from his hands and massaged his arm which had been injured. She spent a beautiful afternoon sitting under the trees in Ojai California attending a talk with the late J. Krishnamurt. All in all, Anatta eventually traveled to India on seven separate occasions. Continuing the journey in the west to Hawaii and Sedona, she sat with many well known teachers - finally finding her heart’s home back in the town of Tiruvannamali, India, and has felt blessed sitting at the foot of her ultimate teacher, the sacred mountain, Arunachala, near the Ramana Maharshi ashram; a place where, since ancient times, many enlightened beings have been drawn When not in India, Anatta lived a very ordinary life in Southern California near her three daughters and three grandchildren.  Surprisingly existence has sent her two more teenagers to raise and she is currently in the mountains of North Carolina doing just that, though that journey is coming to an end as the "kids" are almost grown. The Ordinary Life and Deepening into the Divine still go on and on, where they join into one blessed existence..... About the book, The Ordinary Buddha, by Anatta Campbell A wonderful "secret" is revealed in these pages ---that ordinary people are coming to the Highest Spiritual Experience from all variety of backgrounds. Enlightenment is possible here and now for each individual, absolutely regardless of background or training. A huge momentum is happening, a universal movement toward "waking up." Unlike in ancient times, now it is happening, to you and me, and the guy down the street. No particular path or religion is responsible for it. Adyashanti and Byron Katie, two well known teachers, share their personal awakening stories, as well as eleven other "ordinary" people who, in beautiful and dramatic ways, share with us their journey from real-life, not so saintly pasts to the discovery of their true nature; The discovery that we are not who we thought ourselves to be all along, but something far more grand and yet sweetly ordinary.       The Knowing sweeps through us like a fresh breeze on a spring morning. Their discovery is our discovery. The Enlightened ones say there is not the slightest breath of separation. The message is, You Are That. Anatta is available for Skype or phone sessions. Please feel free to contact Anatta, at: 11sunyata@gmail.com www.Facebook.com/TheOrdinaryBuddha The website for her book, "The Ordinary Buddha": www.Theordinarybuddha.org.
