The resurrection ritual doesn't just crown Daredevil and Elektra as King and Queen—it supercharges everyone, including Foggy and Cole North, and the Book of the Fist literally rewrites itself to guide them. Its warning is chilling: the Hand is using the Lunate Talisman to replace world leaders with undead puppets, quietly steering global power while no one notices.  Recruiting monsters to stop monsters. Daredevil leads a breakout at the Myrmidon, offering prisoners a chance to fight for something bigger. Speed Demon, Stilt-Man, Agony, Stegron, and others join up. During the escape, Matt easily takes down U.S. Agent and is shaken to find Robert Goldman imprisoned there, clearly still part of a larger “plan.” In the aftermath, Iron Man and Captain America watch the footage and agree on one thing—Daredevil has crossed a line and needs to be brought in.   Elektra lights the fuse. While Doc Sasquatch tries to hold this unstable team together through therapy, Elektra infiltrates the White House, confirms the President is a Hand construct, and throws him out a window—on camera. It's a tactical win and a PR nightmare, pushing the Avengers closer and painting the Fist as terrorists instead of saviors.  Doing good the hard way. Matt insists the Fist prove they're different, leading a mission to North Carolina where they stop illegal evictions, defuse coordinated bombings, and protect a falling child—caught midair by Stilt-Man. Afterwards, Bullet leaves to find his son Lance, and we learn he's unknowingly walking straight into the Hand's trap.  The war with the Hand. Knowing it's a setup but knowing they need to save Lance, Daredevil still attacks when the Book warns that the Punisher—who's leading the Hand—is killing again. The battle is massive and brutal: Daredevil and Elektra vs. the Punisher, Stick vs. Aka, Cole North vs. a Hand-controlled Bullet, and the rest of the Fist fighting dragons and assassins. They lose ground, barely escape, but Elektra steals the Lunate Talisman—proof the Hand can be beaten.  Everything falls apart. The Avengers close in, the Stromwyns escalate, and Re-Cid gas bombs rain down on the Fist's base. Elektra destroys the Talisman, which reveals the truth _ Stick and Foggy were resurrected by the Hand—then disintegrate. The cost to beat the Hand is devastating as the Avengers arrive to arrest most of the team.  God's plan goes loud. Daredevil manages to escape along with Robert Goldman, who unleashing an avalanche that forces the Avengers to retreat while nearly everyone else is captured. Weeks later, Cole North snaps Matt out of his spiral—telling him to put the suit back on, go fix it. Matt confronts the Stromwyns and trades himself for Elektra's freedom, proving his loyalty by plunging blades into his own eyes.  Death, rebirth, and the real enemy. Believing sacrifice is the only answer, Matt travels to Japan to die at the Beast's gate and rescue the trapped souls—Foggy included. Elektra tries to stop him; he dies anyway, is reborn in white, and learns he's been manipulated by the Wild, sister to the Beast. In the collapsing afterlife, Matt rejects comforting illusions, frees Foggy and the others through love and willpower, and stays behind—armless but defiant—to face the Beast alone.  The final book of volume 7 and the Red Fist Saga was an epilogue to this story and seemly sets us up for volume 8. Cynthia Rothrock is a martial arts expert and athlete, who went on to become a film actress, starring in a number of highly successful action movies. She first made a name as an action actress in Hong Kong before going on to wow audiences in her home turf. At the time of her popularity, she was well-known as the “Queen of Martial Arts films”. World Champion Cynthia Rothrock is the World Champion in martial arts Forms and Weapons (1981-1985). Her goal was to be undefeated and retire after five years. With over 100 competitions, she holds the undefeated worldwide record in martial arts Forms competition. In weapons competition, Cynthia is the first and only woman to win number one in North America against the men—at that time, women had to compete with the men. She holds five Black Belts with a rank of 8th dan Grandmaster. Acting Career Upon completing her goal of being undefeated in competition, she began her martial arts acting career starring in movies produced and filmed in Hong Kong. Her first movie, Yes, Madam alongside Michelle Yeoh, broke box office records making her a massive star in Hong Kong. After three years of living in Hong Kong, finishing seven films, she returned to the United States to continue her acting career. Today she has starred in over 60 movies and is currently working on upcoming projects. Celebrated Role Model Cynthia has been a role model for women in martial arts and film. In 1983, she became the first woman to grace the cover of Karate Illustrated. Cynthia is a proud inductee into the prestigious Black Belt Hall of Fame, along with Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris. Fisk gets married to Typhoid Mary and while at his summer home finds his secret file with information on Daredevil's secret identity.    That leads us into the big crossover event for 2022 – Devil's Reign. Since it's a huge crossover event that basically takes the place of a Daredevil volume for much of 2022, this will be our Spotlight story for the week.   Following Devil's Reign in July, we get an epilogue book called Devil's Reign Omega. In it there are 3 stories:   In “Fall and Rise” Reed Richards tells Daredevil he believes Fisk has traveled to Latveria before everything pauses for Matt Murdock's funeral, with Kirsten delivering the eulogy and the Marvel cast quietly circling the truth—Foggy grieving, Jessica learning Joe is alive but warehoused in an orphanage, and Butch Pharris showing up just long enough to confirm he knows Mike died in Matt's place and to ask the one question no one can answer: where is Matt?  Daredevil and Elektra watch the post-funeral scene, telling Luke Cage and Danny Rand that Matt being “dead” is the only way they can leave New York and take the fight to the Hand. A quick bank-robbery stop turns awkward when the Thunderbolts arrive and remind everyone that Fisk may be gone, but the Powers Act—and their authority—very much isn't.  The story ends with Jessica Jones freeing Joe from his inhibitor collar and takes responsibility for him, Kirsten quietly buries the Norn Stone with Matt and admits she knows, somehow, this isn't goodbye.   In “Mayor For Hire” we see Luke Cage reflect on his past before his first press conference as Mayor. During the opening statement he tries to bring people together and afterwords talks about the role of the Thunderbolts.  In “Cleaning House” Luke Cage tries to recruit Monica Rambeau to lead the Thunderbolts and reform them from within. She turns him down and it's suggested they try asking Clint Barton next.  By September the events of Devil's Reign have wrapped up and Daredevil volume 7 starts. In it we get the first 4 issues of a storyline entitled “The Red Fist Saga”. It opens with Matt —posing as Mike—confronting Butch and learns about Fisk's fate. He then drops the act and with Spider-Man backing him up gives Butch a clear warning: rule like Fisk, and the heroes will come. Before leaving the city, Matt finally trusts Peter with his secret identity, then races to stop Kirsten from leaving town—only to miss her train as it explodes, pulling him into a nightmare orchestrated by the unnervingly calm Robert Goldman – a former college friend.  Goldman claims he's been shaping Matt's life all along, pushing him toward greatness through tragedy—revealing he may have caused Elektra's father's death and the train bombings to “reforge” Daredevil. Their rain-soaked clash ends with Goldman leaping away and turning himself in, while Matt reunites with a very much alive Kirsten, confessing his love but still keeping his true identity hidden.  Elektra and Stick establish a base near the Fist's origin, meanwhile Luke Cage stands his ground as mayor against the Stromwyns. Matt recruits Cole North for what's coming, learns the Hand is allied with the Stromwyns and the Punisher is now leading the Hand from Aka, a former mentor of Elektra's while she was in the Hand.   As the year ends, Matt and Elektra complete a brutal spiritual trial, defeating the lingering souls of the Hand. S'il y a une chose certaine, c'est que le succès historique de l'album D'eux de Céline Dion, est totalement justifié. Car il n'est pas simplement le résultat du travail en duo de deux artistes du même label de disques, il est beaucoup plus que la multiplication du talent de deux chanteurs à succès. C'est tout d'abord une idée du plus populaire des auteurs compositeurs interprètes des années 80 et 90 : Jean-Jacques Goldman. Ayant fait le tour de tout ce qui est possible et ravi de son expérience d'avoir écrit et composé pour une femme … il veut désormais travailler avec la plus grande. Oui, Goldman trouve que Céline est mal servie par ceux qui lui écrivent des chansons. Il les trouve trop mercenaires. Et lui, il sait ce qu'il faut faire pour qu'elle puisse donner la pleine mesure de son talent. Car il ne suffit pas de lui apporter une partoche et un texte et de dire : chante-moi ça, vas-y, fonce et fais-toi plaisir, non, il faut lui écrire un truc qui va l'obliger à aller chercher au fond d'elle-même. Et donc, pour lui remuer l'âme, il faut connaître son sujet. Pas d'internet à l'époque, alors Jean-Jacques se fait livrer tout ce qui a été publié sur Céline au Canada : livres, articles de presse, interviews radio, télévisées. Et au fur et à mesure qu'il découvre et comprend la personne qu'est réellement Céline Dion, son histoire, ses amours, sa famille, son milieu, Jean-Jacques se dit que son idée d'album à la Edith Piaf, n'est pas la bonne. Céline, ce n'est pas une interprète de la grande chanson française, non, c'est une chanteuse de blues, de rythm'n'blues, même. Piaf, Patricia Kaas, ce sont des Françaises, Céline, elle, a beau être francophone, c'est une Américaine.Et donc, cette étude quasi universitaire sur le sujet Dion n'a pas été inutile pour Goldman qui s'apprêtait à sortir de sa zone de confort en faisant de LA chanson française pour Dion. Ben non, s'il veut vraiment lui ouvrir une autoroute, c'est tout simplement en lui offrant du Goldman. De la chanson en français sur de la musique anglo-saxonne. Quoique toutes les musiques ne sont pas de sa main, non. Ainsi de la chanson Je sais pas qui, sortie en septembre 1995, va être numéro 1 pendant sept semaines. Elle est signée J. Kappler, le pseudonyme de son frère, le fidèle Robert Goldman, l'essentiel homme de l'ombre qui est aussi son manager. Et il faut dire que Robert a, en plus du bizness, une âme d'artiste, de compositeur et producteur. Il fait écouter régulièrement à Jean-Jacques des cassettes de morceaux qu'il compose, comme ce slow qui irait vachement bien avec la voix de Céline. Voilà ce que je devrais faire, se dit-il, un morceau à trois temps comme le titre de Robert. Mais au lieu de le faire, pourquoi je ne lui demanderais pas son titre ? Ainsi naît le successeur de Pour que tu m'aimes encore, immense succès d'un automne du milieu des années 90.

Robert Goldman, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign The 2018 eruption of Kīlauea Volcano was the first natural hazard crisis event in which USGS social media communications played a major role in providing reliable, around-the-clock eruption information to publics. These communications complemented traditional channels including HVO’s website, radio and television broadcasts, newspaper articles, automated text or email alerts, and in-person community meetings. As part of my National Science Foundation Graduate Research Internship, I conducted two complementary investigations of these communications. First, I analyzed semi-structured in-person interviews conducted with residents of Hawai‘i in January 2020 to identify themes describing residents’ preferred sources, messengers, and channels of 2018 eruption information. I then analyzed the public comment threads of the @USGSVolcanoes Facebook page to determine how well dialogues between @USGSVolcanoes scientists and non-USGS users answered users’ eruption-related questions, addressed occurrences of misinformation, and benefitted users’ overall emotional state. From this work, my collaborators and I identified the role that messengers’ perceived trustworthiness and credibility played in Hawai‘i residents’ reliance on information delivered by those messengers. We also learned that among the most frequently viewed @USGSVolcanoes Facebook posts, 73% of users’ questions were directly answered while 54% of comments containing misinformation were directly corrected or called out. Moreover, most users’ comments on the @USGSVolcanoes Facebook page contained positive emotions that reflect appreciation of the information provided by @USGSVolcanoes scientists. I conclude this talk by discussing the implications of our findings for planning future hazard communications in Hawai‘i and elsewhere.

Robert Goldman had been a successful Internet age inventor having developed some of the critical technology underlying the way digital music is stored, searched, and purchased online. But when his sister developed cancer, he found himself turning his skills as an inventor into an unchartered area for him. Eventually he developed a new type of catherter to deliver cancer medicines directly to where they are needed in the body. But despite his company's success at winning marketing clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, his company Vascular Designs has had difficulty raising money. On October 17 Vascular Designs launched a campaign to raise $500,000 through the crowdfunding site Indigogo. We spoke to Goldman about his IsoFlow catheter, the funding environment for innovative medical device companies, and his decision to turn to crowdfunding.

He is an inductee of the Masters Hall of Fame, in recognition for his contributions to the martial arts and to the public. "Dr. Bob" has spearheaded the development of numerous international medical organizations and corporations. He co-founded and served as Chairman of the Board of Life Science Holdings, a biomedical research company which has had over 150 medical patents under development in the areas of brain resuscitation, trauma and emergency medicine, organ transplant and blood preservation technologies. Matt Wittmer is a graduate of the Documentary Institute at the University of Florida and a former intern at the documentary production company, Kartemquin Films.  He has recently directed the short documentary film The Regiment, which tells the unusual story of a group of Dominican youth from Providence, Rhode Island who take part in a civil war re-enactment in Olustee, Florida. The 14th Rhode Island Reenactors Program helps Providence high school students recreate the history of the 14th Rhode Island Heavy Artillery Regiment. By being immersed in the life of the Black soldier of the Civil War, the students learn about the role of African Americans during the war and about the history of the war generally.  They are led by Robert Goldman, a veteran Civil War reenactor.
