Bright on Buddhism - Asian Religions Series - Shintō Part 3Hello and welcome to the Asian religions series. In this series, we will be discussing religious traditions in Asia other than Buddhism. Buddhism never existed in a vacuum, and as it has spread all across East Asia, it has developed, localized, and syncretized with local traditions in fascinating and significant ways. As such, we cannot provide a complete picture of East Asian without discussing those local traditions such as they were and are. Disclaimer: this series is very basic and introductory, and does not and cannot paint a complete picture of these religious traditions as they are in the present or throughout history. Today, we will be continuing our discussion of Shinto, a very historically and culturally significant religious tradition in Japan. We hope you enjoyResources: Hardacre, Helen (1991). And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen. They stand as silent sentinels of power, adorning our world with their majestic peaks. Through the ages, people have been awed by their beauty and have yearned to climb, as if called by an inner voice to conquer these heights despite the risks they may face. From the mystic Himalayas, to Mount Sinai where a voice likened to a Voice from God; was heard as The Ten Commandments were delivered to Earth. From Mount Shasta, California, Retreat of the Spiritual Hierarchy to Mount Fuji, Japan, a center for Spiritual practices for thousands of years, all have been revered by people searching for wisdom and truth. In these days, a new type of mountain has been created as part of the Cosmic Plan for Peace and Enlightenment. These New Age Power Centers consist of 19 holy mountains charged by the Gods from Space in conjunction with their human agent, Yoga Master, Dr George King during the rigorous 3-year Mission, Operation Starlight, from July 1958 to August 1961. In this podcast, Aetherius Radio Live co-host, Chrissie Blaze, will discuss with her guest, Gino Scialdone, these sacred mountains of power, with a focus on Operation Starlight. They will explain how the average person, unskilled in mountaineering, can now climb these holy mountains, sacred jewels of Earth, as many of them are very accessible. From there, pilgrims of all beliefs, can radiate tremendous power and healing to our suffering world, thanks to the intervention of the Cosmic Masters in these days.

What I was meaning, but didn't say, is that this option can be “best,” if the title to land will not transfer (land return) to a Tribe/Nation, then a co-management agreement can be a strong tool. Especially in California, because some Nations we work with have shared that they would prefer sharing the responsibility with a trusted third-party partner, like a land trust, as long as the written agreement is culturally appropriate and has a strong set of protocols for addressing issues or challenges through peacemaking.Support the showLearn more about Sara Jolena Wolcott and Sequoia SamanvayaMusic Title: Both of Us Music by: madiRFAN Don't forget to "like" and share this episode!

The University of Wisconsin system takes in more than $1 million a year from lands given them by the federal government a century and a half ago. They are among the institutions that reap what a new investigation by the online publication Grist says is more than $2.2 billion dollars in 2022. The ongoing source of money comes from mining, drilling, farming, and other uses on lands granted by the U.S. Government to promote both continuing education and a policy of removing Native American possession and use of that land. Any past promised benefits to tribes and their citizens are falling short. In Santa Clara County, the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band is fighting for one of their most sacred sites, known as Juristac. Beginning In the late 1700s, Spanish colonizers forcibly removed the tribe from Juristac, and currently, the land is owned by a private firm that has proposed a plan to develop a mine onsite. For the last 7 years, the tribal band, with support from many residents and local officials, has organized to block the project. They want the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors to deny the mining permit from being approved. In this episode from Rightnowish's “From the Soil” series, producer Marisol Medina-Cadena, speaks to Valentin Lopez, Chairman of the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band. “To be nothing, to be nobody, is to realize who you are.” This month on Being Yourself, we share one the first meetings Gangaji held in Byron Bay, Australia. This is the land of the Arakwal Bumberlin people, who have lived in the coastal landscape around the Byron Bay area for at least 22,000 years. Gangaji begins by acknowledging how the ancient Aboriginal peoples have blessed our lives. Then she invites us to end our search for spiritual superiority to simply be who we truly are—no “thing” at all.
At the southern edge of the South Bay in Santa Clara County, where the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains meet the town of Gilroy, there is a grassy pasture. Here, a small stream runs through acres of land while cattle graze and birds fly above. This piece of land is a proposed mining site—but it's also traditional ceremonial ground for the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band. For over 200 years, the Amah Mutsun have been unable to access one of their most sacred sites, known as Juristac. "Juristac translates to the place of the Big Head. Our most important ceremonies were Big Head ceremonies. And so this location is where our ancestors, for thousands and thousands of years, held Big Head dances and ceremony," says Valentine Lopez, chairman of the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band. For the last seven years the tribal band has organized support from the local community, religious leaders, conservation groups and nearby city councils to stand in support against the development of the Sargent Quarry project, a proposal to use the land for mining purposes. The Santa Clara Board of Supervisors is currently reviewing the proposed mining project's environmental impact report. This week we hear from Valentin Lopez , the tribal chairman of the Amah Mutsun, speak about the historical and spiritual significance of Juristac, and the movement to protect the land for the Amah Mutsun. Sulaiman Khatib grew up in a small Palestinian village, on the outskirts of Jerusalem. At the age of 14, he and his friend received long jail sentences for stabbing and injuring two Israeli soldiers. In the jail library he studied the history of the Jewish people, and began to understand that there were equally compelling narratives to both sides. A reconstructed perspective of non-violence, further impacted by hunger strikes in jail, seeded his future dedication to peace and reconciliation work. In 2005 he cofounded the Combatants for Peace, an organization created by Palestinian and Israeli former fighters and victims of violence. Combatants for Peace is modeled on humanistic values of empathy, forgiveness and mutual respect for a future of peace on the sacred homeland that both Palestinians and Israelis love, fighting not each other - but the common enemy of hatred and fear. Nominated twice for the Nobel Peace Prize, his transformative journey and visionary optimism is rooted in a deep love of the land, ancient wisdom, and spirituality.

Grab your sunscreen, cameras and hiking shoes, this week we are heading to the incredibly diverse and magical landscapes of Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. As we walk into these rainforests and barren volcanic landscapes, you can feel the mana, spiritual power, that lives here. Pele, the most revered goddess of Hawaiian Mythology, is to thank for the creation of these little islands. She has the power to destroy them and to create life. She is the spirit behind the two most active volcanoes in the entire world. Rumors have spread saying that to steal from the island is to steal from Pele and will make you cursed for many years. When people start experiencing bad luck, thousands of letters of apologies returning stolen rocks make their way to the park service. Is this curse real? Or is it actually more harmful than helpful? We love our National Parks and we know you do too but when you're out there, remember to enjoy the view but watch your back.
