Just about 40 miles west of Chicago, nestled in a quiet office and industrial park, you'll find the headquarters of BERNINA of America. In one building, the heart and soul of the business hums—sales, marketing, operations, and so much more—where a dedicated team works passionately every day to bring BERNINA's incredible sewing machines to dealers and customers across North America. But just a stone's throw away, in a building filled with inspiration and creativity, lies something truly special—BERNINA's Creative Center. On a chilly, grey January morning, we stepped inside and were immediately welcomed by the warmth of community. A small gathering of women from BERNINA dealers across the country had come together, as they do each year, to share stories, sewing tips, and business ideas—all while strengthening the bonds that make this community feel like family. In this special episode, we had the pleasure of sitting down with four groups of these remarkable women to learn more about their journeys, their businesses, and their dreams for the future. Their passion and camaraderie are truly what make BERNINA more than just a brand—it's a family. So, grab a cup of coffee, settle in, and join us as we take you inside the very essence and meaning of BERNINA's Creative Center. We started off the morning with a duo eager to be the first to talk with us. Meet Alyssa McDonnel of Aurora Sewing Center, New York https://www.aurorasewingcenter.com/ and Jessica Whitley 0f Byrne's Sewing Center, Pennsylvania. https://www.byrnesewing.com/ (2:18) So, what inspired these ladies to open their dealerships? As in many things BERNINA, it's all in the family.(3:30) What gave them each the courage to step in and take over the businesses? Did they each sew?(4:03) How about some stories about their first days/months in business? Were tears a part of it all?(5:37) What were their biggest challenges and triumphs? Machines, staffing, anticipating the market and getting enough sleep! Pinterest helps a lot!(7:06) How has the industry changed during their tenure in business? Virtual business,(8:35) What aspects of being a BERNINA dealer mean the most to them? (10:55) What is it about BERNINA that makes customers so loyal? Quality, the standards, creativity. (11:55) And what are their hopes/dreams for the future? BERNINA began and remains a family-owned business. And so many families…generations of them…are now part of the BERNINA family. Meet mother and daughter Marilyn Gattinella from Close to Home in Connecticut https://www.closetohomestores.com/ and Denise Lopez from Nuttall's' in Salt Lake City, Utah https://www.nuttallbernina.com/ (13:47) What inspired each of them to open their dealerships? Hear their remarkable stories and how Denise married within the sewing community having met her husband at BERNINA University. (16:58) What special memories do they have from their days as a dealer? How about the days they had 67 990's delivered and had to enlist their sons to help get them ready?! (19:06) What are Marilyn and Denise's takes on the evolution of the industry? Many things and especially to Marilyn…what's old is new again! And of course, technology and social media! (21:37) Have they had to adjust in their businesses to keep up with things? Reaching out into the community to different community gathering places to meet people where they are. (22:58) And the joy and fulfillment of being a BERNINA dealer? Well, most of them watched Denise grow up…it's truly family. (25:15) What are their hopes for the future? For Marilyn, for their sons and their children to continue and thrive. For Denise to see the whole family continue and thrive as well. Many next generations to come! Across different states and generations, the passion for sewing unites BERNINA dealers in unique ways. Jess Rediske Red-Roxy Quilt Company, Iowa https://www.redroxyquiltco.com/ and Jenny, The Sewing Palace, Montana, https://www.thesewingpalacebernina.com/ share their experiences—some strikingly similar, others uniquely their own. (28:35) Each of these women share their stories of how they decided to open their stores. (31:11) How about the memories of their early days. Working with mom would be at the top of the list! (32:44) And how have they seen the market change? From primitive feeling, to color, to reaching the younger generation through social media! (34:09) And how have they addressed these changes? Going out into the community! And using the tourism aspect of the Northeast corner of Iowa. (36:35) Why do each of them love being a BERNINA dealer? (38:20) What are their hopes for the future? (39:16) Is there anything we didn't ask that they wish we had asked? They both agreed that this is an industry that's made up of many powerful women who come together to help each other! In the spirit of collaboration and community, we handed the mic to Maggy Urso, BERNINA's Marketing Manager for social media. With her lively energy and deep connection to the brand, Maggy guided a spirited conversation with sisters Tracy and Debbie of Linda Z's Sewing Center https://www.lindazs.com/ (Linda's Daughters) along with Dari, a cherished member of the Nuttall's' Dealer family. https://www.nuttallbernina.com/ (41:05) Maggy leads off with asking the sisters how they got into working with their mom Linda Z. (42:50) And did Tracy and Debbie want to really do this? Well…30 some years later it seems so. (43:39) And how did Dari get into the business? Born into it as well! And talked about it forever! (44:45) How about some memories from the early days? Debbie starts out by telling us about Grandpa Cooper. And hiding in the lingerie tents. Dari – early bird Saturdays, the yellow tickets, donuts, Easter Eggs…and inventory. (47:30) Biggest challenges and triumphs? Getting everyone to agree and keeping up with growth. (49:05) How has the industry changed? Drawers and drawers of patterns, push button sewing, embroidery cards, sergers, and a “crazy” amount of change. (51:00) What gives each of them the most fulfillment? Giving to the community and getting so very much in return! (52:15) What makes BERNINA unique and why are so many so passionate? It's in the generations of families. (43:54) Hopes and dreams? Keep growing and within the family. Even distance couldn't keep us from hearing the heartwarming insights of Dori's mom, Rhonda Lopez Nuttall's' Sewing Centers, https://www.nuttallbernina.com/ who joined us remotely from Salt Lake City, proving that the BERNINA family knows no boundaries.(55:10) What inspired Rhonda to get into the sewing business? (58:10) How had the sewing industry changed during Rhonda's tenure? The evolution of quilting was a big part of this. And it's no longer an industry of need. (1:01:00) Proudest moment? Seeing her kids become a part of the family business. And then there was the day at BERNINA University when she received a standing ovation from her peers.(1:03:02) What's her hope and vision? That people in her market continue to look to them for their needs well into the future. As our time at the BERNINA Creative Center came to a close, it was clear that what makes this space truly special isn't just the machines or the materials—but the people. The passion, the dedication, and the unwavering support these women share for one another and for BERNINA are what transform a brand into a beloved family. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who shared their stories with us—your insights, laughter, and wisdom made this experience unforgettable. And to our listeners, we hope you've felt the warmth, creativity, and inspiration that radiates from the BERNINA community. https://www.michelledanner.comwww.allinfilms.com Instagram michelledannerla There aren't many people who can point to a career full of success as a performer, teacher, storyteller, entrepreneur, and expert. But Michelle Danner can. The legendary acting teacher and founder of the Creative Center for the Arts and the Los Angeles Acting Conservatory, Danner is also now well-established as a successful film director. Her last film,“Miranda's Victim,” stars Abigail Breslin, Luke Wilson, Ryan Phillippe, Emily VanCamp, Mireille Enos, Enrique Murciano, Brent Sexton, Josh Bowman, Sebastian Quinn, Taryn Manning, Nolan Gould, Dan Lauria, Kyle MacLachlan, Andy Garcia and Donald Sutherland. The film tells the true story of Trish Weir (Breslin) who was kidnapped and brutally raped by Ernesto Miranda. The subsequent trials went all the way to the Supreme Court and led to creation of the Miranda Rights. Up next for Danner is the comedy romance film “The Italians,” which stars Matthew Daddario (Shadowhunters), Rob Estes (Silk Stalkings), Perrey Reeves (Entourage), David DeLuise (Wizards of Waverly Place), Olivia Luccardi (It Follows), Lainie Kazan (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), and Abigail Breslin (Zombieland, Little Miss Sunshine). The film is currently playing at festivals around the country. A dedicated mom of two (one is an aspiring filmmaker), Danner still has her “day job” – overseeing the faculty of the Los Angeles Acting Conservatory, and conducting her weekly acting class. Michelle has worked privately with Christian Slater, Salma Hayek, Gerard Butler, Seth MacFarlane, Penelope Cruz, Chris Rock, Gabrielle Union, Zooey Deschanel, Henry Cavill, Isla Fisher and James Franco. A longtime student of legendary acting teachers like Stella Adler and Uta Hagen, Danner's eclectic approach (which she calls “The Golden Box”) allows actors the freedom to employ a wide variety of techniques. Raised in a show business family and with a deep appreciation for all of the performing arts, Danner also continues to run the boutique “Cinema at the Edge” film festival and is currently preparing to direct a new one-person play, Bonnie Culver's “Norris,” starring Anne Archer, based on the memoirs of the widow of writer Norman Mailer. Simply put, there's almost no one in the business who knows as much about acting and success as Michelle Danner – and her continued success in multiple creative fields makes her one of the most successful women working in the industry today. Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth Interview with Michelle Danner, Director, “Miranda's Victim” About Harvey's guests: Today's guest, Michelle Danner, is a highly acclaimed, multi-award winning actress, filmmaker and world renowned acting coach. On the stage, she starred in over 30 plays and musicals including Tennessee Williams' “The Rose Tattoo”, “House of Yes”, “Bright Ideas”, “Ibsen's Ghosts”, and “One White Crow”. She's also directed many award winning stage productions including “The Night of the Black Cat”, “Mental the Musical”, “You're on the Air”, and “Jane Fonda in the Court of Public Opinion.” On the big screen, she's appeared in several movies by other directors, including “Reach” and “Ovation”, as well as in many of her own movies, including “How to Go Out on a Date in Queens”, “Hello Herman”, “The Bandit Hound”, “Bad Impluse”, and “The Runner”. Her movies have won a staggering 56 awards at some of the most prestigious film festivals in the world. She's here to discuss her latest film, entitled “Miranda's Victim”, which in my opinion, is an absolute masterpiece. The movie tells the true story of the origins of the “Miranda warning”, which the police must give to every criminal suspect and accused person, that they have the right to remain silent, and that anything they say can be used against them in a court of law. Until our guest made this movie, most people had no idea about the circumstances behind the landmark 1966 US Supreme Court ruling in the Miranda case – circumstances involving the horrific kidnapping and rape by Mr. Miranda, of Patricia Weir in Phoenix, Arizona in 1963. This riveting movie, starring Abigail Breslin, Andy Garcia, Donald Sutherland, Luke Wilson, Ryan Phillippe and Kyle MacLachlan, tells the jaw dropping story of the many astonishing twists and turns throughout the groundbreaking court case, from the perspective of Ms. Weir, the victim. The movie, which is available for streaming on Hulu, has won 15 film festival awards, and has been universally praised not only by film critics, but also by leading members of the legal profession and justice system. In addition to being a highly acclaimed stage director and filmmaker, our guest is also a renowned acting coach. She's given acting workshops around the world and she's worked with many A-list actors including Donald Sutherland, Henry Cavill, Gerard Butler, Penelope Cruz, Andy Garcia, Salma Hayek and many others. She teaches classes at the Michelle Danner Studio and the Los Angeles Acting Conservatory. She's also the Founding Director of the Creative Center for the Arts, where she has served as Artistic Director for more than 20 years. "The way I measured time for a very large part of my life was I was always in preparation. I remember as a child I was preparing to make my first communion, then I was preparing to go to junior high. There are always these lapses that existed ahead of us, where we were progressing through time predicated on noteworthy events. So I was always functioning as though there was going to be a significant event, which occurred in some kind of concept of the future. And that coincided in parallel with the fact that when you're young, you feel essentially immortal because the idea of being old or dying is so abstract. It's so far away. So now that I'm in this phase of my life where all I'm interested in doing is maintaining my health, doing my push-ups, and profiting from as much time as I have left. Because now I'm at the very peak of my powers as a photographer. I'm getting pictures much faster and in greater ratio, and I'm moving through the experience at a rate that I always had yearned towards. And in terms of exhibitions and publications and all that I had everything I wanted when I was 40."How does the mind influence the mind? The mind cannot function without memory. And memory is just the mind aware of itself. So how do images tell us how we see and who we are?Ralph Gibson is one of the most interesting American photographers of our time. His international renown is based on his work, which is shown and collected by some of the world's leading museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the J.P. Getty Museum in Los Angeles, the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, the Creative Center for Photography in Tucson, the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris, the Bibliothèque Nationale de France in Paris, and the Fotomuseum Winterthur in Switzerland.Gibson's works reveal a meticulous aesthetic and visual territory edging on the surreal. His recent books include his memoir Self Exposure, Sacred Land: Israel before and after Time, and Secret of Light, which accompanied his exhibition at the Deichtorhallen House of Photography in Hamburg. "I was fortunate to be able to visit the original Lascaux Cave in the Dordogne. And in any of these paleolithic caves, we find there are certain themes there that seem to be, as long as humanity has been on planet earth: there's always been war, there's always been migration. There's always been a search for God, a form of worship, and there's always been a fear of the apocalypse, the end of the world, which if you open up Paris Match tomorrow or the New York Times on the front page, you'll find those four subjects are still being addressed. Now, we're talking about BC up to today. Now, of course, things are moving much faster now than they did 40, 000 years ago. "Music is purely abstract sound capable of defining the undefinable. And it also happens to be a language that's universally spoken. We could play certain pieces of music in any society in the world and it would be to some extent or another perceived, understood. "I believe that AI will be an incredibly useful tool. Humanity has endured primarily because of its inherent characteristics. I see things like NFTs and AI and Spotify and file sharing, and there was a time when I moved to New York where I could drift through the empty museum galleries of the moment, and have my epiphanies. Now you go to the same museum, it's like the Tokyo subway. You're, you know, it's a bunch of sardines. That's what's happening because there are too many people in the world for the delivery system to any longer be affected. Museums are delivery systems. We're moving into a world of the private museum now because the great collectors are building their own museums.I am happy to report since I've seen you, I have a museum in South Korea in my name. So, you know, I'm funneling, channeling, putting hundreds and hundreds of prints into this museum in Busan in an attempt to personalize the situation, but by the time you've got eight billion people living on the planet Earth for a hundred years, which I plan to do. There's a lot of people like me. We know that people are living longer now thanks to medicine and nutrition. I do tend to think that with file sharing, more people are listening to more music than ever before. You would have previously had to put a Tower Records on every street corner in order to effectively distribute that much music. Now, with NFTs, obviously, I, as the artist, as the audience spreads for a work of art quite often the content goes down. You could have a photograph and sell the original print and have 100 percent of your attention, or it could be reproduced on the cover of the New York Times at 72 dpi, 3 by 4 inches, and you'd get some of it, but you wouldn't get the whole thing, but a million people would see it. Now with the digital situation, working digitally, if the image stays in that digital space permanently, the only real shortcoming is the excessively bright, heavy saturated screen on your computer that tends to exaggerate things a bit."How does the mind influence the mind? And in terms of exhibitions and publications and all that I had everything I wanted when I was 40."www.ralphgibson.comwww.deichtorhallen.de/en/ausstellung/ralph-gibsonwww.gibsongoeunmuseum.comwww.creativeprocess.infowww.oneplanetpodcast.orgIG www.instagram.com/creativeprocesspodcast

. . Patanjali's Yoga Sutra 1.17: Through self-enquiry the practitioner gains insight, but eventually all mental logic must come to an end in bliss. Following that is the comprehension that all is the Self (yoga). In our previous two classes, we have taken time to invest in the ‘inquiry' portion of the creative process, generating insight through Satsang teachings from Sri ShambhavAnanda and Swami Rudrananda, as well as the Shiva Sutras and Vijnana Bhairava. But, as Patanjali teaches, we will take more time to let that logic come to an end in Bliss as we write and reflect a little more, as well as one more key element to the creative process— Sharing! Sharing our writing with felling sangha members will allow us to both be supported and inspired by our fellow creative yogis, as well as bring us one more step closer to real comprehension of this process as a whole— the yogic experience of creativity. Thanks for being a part of the creative process with us! Namaste!
When we make a work of art, we hope that it speaks of an experience beyond the page it is read upon, or canvas painted upon, or ears it falls upon. Art strives to describe a universal experience, yet it is always of an individual thing— a landscape, a deity, a song, a character. The creative process is a dance of working with an individual manifestation of Shakti to describe an undivided experience of Shiva. It is no coincidence that our reality, and our meditation practice, is described as a dance— creativity takes us back and forth between shiva and Shakti endlessly. We see this dance of awareness in the Vijnana Bhairava as Shiva and Shakti discuss the path we must tread in our practice. “This is the journey we have to do, the journey we have to do in the field of Shakti, not in the field of Shiva [where] there is no journey (17)…For instance, [fire has many different manifesations]–lightening, giving light, burning, heating–but these energies [aka manifestations of fire] are undifferentiated with fire. [The important thing to remember is that these different manifestations are used] just to enter in that state of fire, to put a kettle on it. (19)… So the path is Shakti, the path is not Shiva. (20)… Shiva is understood by Shakti (21).”When we work with intention we are working to describe our true nature, Shiva, through a specific manifestation of it, Shakti. We are trying to describe the infinite with the finite, and this is the journey the Vijnana Bhairava describes. In the quote we see the example of Fire. Fire has a fundamental energy, something that is in the background of all manifestations of fire. In terms of writing or creating with a prompt or intention, this might look like writing about ‘surrender'. To write about it you have to point to certain small maniestations of surrender in your life, small ways that you have uncovered the bigger concept— because no matter what you do, you can't quite write about surrender in a way that doesn't somehow diminish it. Does this mean the act of creating is always limited? Absolutely not, in fact, it is sometimes the only way we ever experience boundless freedom in the horizontal reality— art is a time when people really open up, and let something higher flow through. So we may not be able to capture surrender in our writing or art, yet we can feel surrender while we write about it and let it come through. In this way, our artwork may only be about one small example of surrender, but the actual piece itself will be imbued with surrender. We used the act of writing about surrender to do the real act of surrender, and in that way we grew and our creation gained life. As the Sutra says, we use the cooking flame to heat the kettle— we use the prompt or intention to explore the greater concept, and we use the act of exploring to grow spiritually. This is one way of understanding how we use the path of Shakti to find Shiva. “I went to see the Mona Lisa at the llouve. It was jammed with a lot of people, everybody trying to jam past everybody. And I just took a breath, everything in my mind got quiet and around me, and I could feel the incredible flow that created this wonderful piece of art. But we don't tend to look at art that way, we analyze it too much, saying ‘well that's imperfect, and that line or color is not right.' We're missing what its all about— the creative Spirit, always comes from beyond. Just like on Monday nights (laughs).”
Get up to speed with the Digital Marketing News and Updates from the week of Mar 06-10, 2023.1. Reddit Shuts down ‘Reddit Talks' & Twitter Is Removing Archive of Recorded Live-Streams - Remember Clubhouse? Clubhouse, at one stage, reached 10 million weekly active users, and had a $1 billion valuation, with many experts proclaiming it as a new paradigm, and the next big thing for social connection. That, predictably, led to copycat features cropping up in every other social app, including Twitter Spaces, Facebook audio rooms, LinkedIn live chats, and many more. But now, almost all of them have been depreciated, deprioritized, or shelved entirely, as interest in social audio continues to wane. And now Reddit Talk, Reddit's own variation of the same, is the latest to be added to social audio scrapheap. Per Reddit, “We have made the difficult decision to sunset the Reddit Talk product in the coming weeks. Hosting Reddit Talks will continue to be available until March 21. The ‘Happening Now' experiment will also wind-down on this date.”In the meantime, Twitter has informed users that it is removing its live video archive ‘soon' as Twitter reviews its storage costs, and looks for more ways to cut down on capacity. There's no mention of audio recordings of live Spaces as yet. But if I were you, I would download and save the data. In a way this makes sense to remove old archive and reduce costs so I am wondering if other platforms will follow suit. Or may be charge a fee to host content after a certain amount of time?2. Page Size Is Not A Ranking Factor - Google's John Mueller said on Twitter, "Page size is not a ranking factor." Meaning Google does not have anything specific signal that says page sizes of X to Y get a ranking boost or decline. Of course, if your page sizes are so big that users, browsers and bots chock on the files, that can be an issue. But finding pages like that are generally rare. Recently, John also said that core web vitals should not be a priority for most small businesses (I covered this on episode#149). John also said previously that CSS size does not generally impact rankings either. #seoMythBusted3. YouTube Discontinues Overlay Ads - Finally after years of bothering the billions of viewers out there, YouTube has announced the removal of Overlay Ads. From April 6, 2023, creators will no longer be able to activate or add “Overlay ads” from within YouTube Studio when accessing monetization options. According to YouTube, the move is in response to feedback from viewers who find these ads disruptive. Overlay ads are known to be less effective than other ad formats, such as pre-roll ads, which play before a video begins. As a result, creators often earn less revenue from overlay ads, despite their videos receiving a high number of viewsSounds like, YouTube staff never consumed content on YouTube and that they had to collect years of data to realize that Overlay Ads are a nuisance. Or does it have to do something about the competition from TikTok and Meta (Instagram/FB)?4. Microsoft Launches Local Search Ads - Microsoft has announced Local Search Ads which are designed to give businesses greater prominence on the local results entity on Bing's search engine results page and Bing Maps on PC. You can use local search ads to promote your products and services to potential customers in the area. Additionally, the ads provide essential business information, such as the company's location, phone number, and hours of operation. This feature is especially useful if you are relying on foot traffic. By providing this information upfront, companies can make it easier for customers to find them and make a purchase. 5. Google Expands Local Service Ads to Five More Categories - Google has announced an expansion of its Local Services Ads offering, which enables businesses to better highlight their services in local queries. With Local Services Ads, you can advertise your services at the top of Google Search results pages and receive phone calls, messages and appointment bookings in the areas you choose. Google originally launched Local Services Ads with home service businesses, but now, more than 70 types of service area and storefront businesses are eligible for these promotions. The five new Local Service ad categories are: Education, People Care, Pet Care, Wellness and Health Care.6. Google Ads Rolled Out Performance Max For Hotels - Google is rolling out Performance Max for travel goals to all hotel advertisers over the next few weeks. Performance Max for travel goals creates ads in multiple formats that will automatically serve across Google channels and inventory, including Google Maps, Search, YouTube and Hotel Ads (coming later this year). During campaign setup, just pick your hotel properties from a map using their hotel picker tool. Then it'll pre-populate ads for your hotel — including creative elements like copy, images and URLs — in every format. You can edit any of these pre-populated assets or upload your own instead. In the announcement, Google shared that advertisers who use Performance Max achieve on average over 18% more conversions at a similar cost per action. And searches for "book a flight" has grown more than 70% in 2022. The question to Google, what are the stats for hotel search volume? That will be a better representation of a demand vs pulling the “book a flight” data since there is this thing called “AirBnb”.7. TikTok Enters The Search Ads Market Even Though It Is Inching Towards A US Ban - TikTok has added another handy research tool for marketers, with a new ‘Keyword Insights' element in its Creative Center, which enables you to find more info on which keywords and phrases are resonating best in TikTok ads.TikTok's search ads platform will allow businesses to bid on specific keywords and phrases related to their products or services, just like they would on Google. However, TikTok's platform will likely offer some unique features and targeting options that Google does not. For example, TikTok's platform may offer more robust audience targeting options, allowing advertisers to reach users based on their interests, behaviors, and demographics. This could make TikTok's platform more appealing to advertisers looking to reach specific audiences. However, it has a long way to go before it can take the crown away from Google. After all, you can not use TikTok to get directions (Google maps or Apple maps). Nevertheless, competition is good. Also TikTok faces potential bans in the US and Europe after an investigation found them spying on journalists and due to concerns around its exposure to the Chinese Community Party (CCP). So I would hold off from deleting my Google Ads Account if I were you. #JustSaying.

Pinterest Doubles Down On Shopping - This week Pinterest introduced three new merchant features to help retailers promote their stores. Product Tagging on Pins - allows businesses to make their pins shoppable so that customers can click and buy directly from the app. In early experiments, Pinterest found that product Pins labeled in scenes had a 70% higher intent than isolated product photo Pins. Video in Catalog - Video ads allow merchants to show additional angles of their products to further drive conversions. In early studies, compared to static images, video ad formats raised click-through-rate by 158 percent, decreased cost-per-click by 42 percent, and increased cost-per-acquisition by 58 percent. Shop Tab on Business Profiles - In order to make it simple for customers to identify and view shoppable products, merchants will be able to prominently display a Shop button on their business profiles. About 30% of the first credited sales made by merchants in early tests came through the Shop tab. 3. Google Ads Relocated Diagnostic Insights To Overview Page - Google Ads has moved the diagnostic insights which was launched in April 2022, to the Insights and Overview page of the ad console. Diagnostic insights help you identify common reasons why your campaign may not be serving or getting conversions. Google announced this saying the reason they added this was because "it can be difficult to identify and troubleshoot these issues in a timely fashion."The diagnostic insights will indicate when a campaign's ads aren't running because, among other diagnostic checks, all ad groups are paused, an account has been suspended, or the Ad Strength is too low. In addition, they can automatically identify issues that range from ad policy, billing, budget, bids, and more.4. Google Adds Feature To Exclude Locations In Performance Max Campaigns - “In campaign settings under “Location options,” advertisers will now find the ability to target based on physical “Presence” or “Presence or interest”. For Performance Max campaigns for online sales with a product feed, we'll also be adding advanced location exclusions for “Presence” or “Presence or interest” similar to what is available in Smart Shopping campaigns today,” a Google representative tweeted.Hopefully this feature will help removing all of the junk traffic we're seeing when we are running Performance Max Campaigns.5. Microsoft Launches Auto-Updates For Shopping Campaigns - Two new updates for Microsoft Shopping Campaigns to help you deliver better customer experience and increase your sales. They are: Automatic item update - Microsoft Merchant Center will crawl advertisers' websites, gathering price and availability data for the products offered. If a price change or availability issue is detected (e.g., if an item is out of stock), the product information will be updated in your ads. You can opt-out of auto-updates by navigating to the Automatic Updates tab under Settings in your Merchant Center account. Keep in mind that if your products are not up to date, your ads may be disapproved. Automated coupons through Merchant Promotions - This is attractive for online stores looking to expand their reach and capture new customers. Because it will allow advertisers to promote products directly from the Microsoft Shopping Campaigns inventory with special offer tags. The tags will appear at the bottom of the product listing and will display a “special offer” link. Microsoft will use crawled data gathered directly from the advertisers' website to automatically create the Merchant Promotions. Microsoft says the automated coupons will only apply to store-wide promotions, not individual products. However, you should be aware of automatic features and ensure that the correct information is being captured and relayed to potential buyers. You can read the announcement from Microsoft here. For more detailed information, check out the Automatic item update help page and the Merchant Promotions help page.6. Google Merchant Center Adds Auto-Tagging For All Free Listings Across All Of Google - You can now use auto-tagging to view conversions for all free listings and free local listings experiences on Google. Previously, auto-tagging was only available for listings in the Shopping tab. What is auto-tagging and how does it work? When a searcher clicks on your free product listing and free local product listing in Google Search, then auto-tagging adds a parameter called “result id” to the URL. For example, if someone clicks on your free listing for www.example.com, the final URL will look like www.example.com/?srsltid=123xyz. The result id is created at the time of an impression. In the future, if the same user clicks the same free listing or free local listing again, the same result id will be used. That is then tracked through to your analytics tools for deeper analytical purposes, including tracking conversions and purchases.P.S: Auto-tagging is not turned on by default and has to be enabled at the Merchant Center account by an admin.7. Google Updates Requirements For Course Structured Data - Google revised the requirements for appearing in the Course rich results using structured data. To be qualified for the Course Rich result, you must add three courses. Previously, this requirement was not explicitly specified. If the requirements are not met, you might not be eligible for the rich result.Students may find the courses they're looking for in the rich results produced about by educational course search queries as long as you adhere to the Google Search Central structured data guidelines and requirements for the Course structured data, and everyone wins.8. Google Search Console Insights Now Supports Google Analytics 4 - Search Console Insights gives you a comprehensive insight of how people find your content online by combining data from Search Console and Google Analytics. It helps you answer these types of questions: What are your best performing pieces of content? How are your new pieces of content performing? How do people discover your content across the web? What people search for on Google before they visit your content? Which article refers users to your website and content? However, up until now, Search Console did not support GA-4. This was a challenge since Google will stop supporting GA-3 next year. 9. Google Launches A Landing Page With A Timeline Of Major Ranking Updates - Want to stay on top of all the major Ranking updates that Google considers important for Website owners? Well now you can through the recent major algorithm page at https://developers.google.com/search/updates/ranking.The new page contains updates that Google has confirmed since January 2020, listed in chronological order.

This week we finally got to play around with TikTok’s Creative Center. It’s a tool for marketers, but also has some really powerful tools for looking at what’s trending globally on the app. We spent some time this week playing around with it. What did we learn? Well, a couple weird things. TikTok users love Sundays, the top videos on the app are mostly ads, and TikTok is offering marketers a tool for replacing popular songs with royalty free stock music to use in their campaigns. That last one is pretty crazy if you ask us!SHOW NOTESHologram queenCrazy Frog Elon Musk tweetBrian Feldman’s Crazy Frog pieceThe TikTok ad dashboard This is a public episode. What began as just a hobby in Mimi's Los Angeles home in 2012 blossomed into an international brand. She's achieved a daily engagement of more than 3.2 million followers across all social media platforms, 22 million pageviews and 2.2 million unique visitors annually on her blog and courses on DIY. But her love of sewing started long before that.Mimi began sewing when she was twelve, taking apart clothes, and figuring out how to put them back together again. She didn't realize that she was teaching herself the basics of construction and pattern making. Although she was a runaway at 15 and a single mom at 16 living on the streets of L.A., Mimi always knew that she had some sort of purpose in life. Although it was hard to sew while she was homeless, her love of sewing never left her. She eventually got a job in film production, started a sewing blog, created home sewing videos for You Tube, and became a successful and respected entrepreneur. She signed on as a licensee for Simplicity in 2014 and was the first blogger to have her own pattern line. Within a few years, her tenacity and talent led her to the role of VP for the Big Four (McCall, Butterick, Vogue, Simplicity). Mimi shares, in detail, her journey to creating several multi-million-dollar businesses. (2:32 – 22:16)Mimi has consistently been an advocate for creating more sexy and confident patterns for plus-size women, more stylish patterns for men, styles for brown and black women, new sewists and young sewists. She is integrally involved in every aspect of the business, from creating the patterns, to obtaining fabric rights, to merchandising and branding. In addition to her role as a Vice President, her blogs, online classes, and other highly successful ventures, Mimi, along with her friend and fellow sewist, Brittany J. Jones, founded Melanated Fabrics and Creative Center in Atlanta. To add to her list of accomplishments, Mimi has written a book, which will be released next year.Simply put, Mimi's story is a story of hope, fortitude and grit. An important part of her mission in life is to inspire men and women to embrace their power, find their voice and discover their purpose. She attributes much of her success to following her inner voice and being authentic. She believes that if you do what you love, the money will follow. In her words, “It has to be something that's special to you, and something that you would do even if you weren't being paid for it.” The purpose, she says, has to be genuine. (22:24 – 38:55) As you listen to this amazing and engaging podcast, you realize that Mimi's story is not about the struggles, but about the triumphs. The best way to reach her is through Instagram @Mimi G style. If you know someone who has an outstanding story that should be shared on this podcast, drop Meg a note to info@sewandsopodcast.com or complete the form on our website.
