You're in the right place if… You've been longing to understand how to build true resilience in yourself and your family, especially in a world where life often feels chaotic and overwhelming. You're looking for practical insights on how receiving from God rather than striving in your own strength can transform your peace, relationships, and daily life. You want to create a home where connection with God and others isn't just an idea but a way of life that fosters rest, resilience, and growth for you and your loved ones. Doug and Janet share an energizing and inspirational conversation about these key ideas: Receiving from God: We often equate resilience with pushing through and striving, but true resilience begins with receiving—accepting God's love, wisdom, and strength as the basis for living rather than relying solely on ourselves. We discuss how being a “receiver” of God's truth can help dissolve fear and build a foundation of peace. Rest Over Striving: When we begin with rest, we allow God to be the primary resource for our lives. We share how a daily rhythm of “receiving and resting” in His truth can actually build stronger resilience, versus the burnout that comes from self-reliance. Secure Attachments as a Source of Strength: Building resilience starts with secure attachments to God, family, and community. Living with a secure attachment means we don't have to be our own best resource; instead, we experience transformation through relational connections that ground us. Transformational Relationships Over Transactional Ones: Too often, we look at relationships transactionally, expecting to get something in return. In contrast, transformational relationships foster growth by creating environments where emotional safety, truth-telling, and encouragement lead to real resilience. Linger in these TAKEAWAYS: 1. Resilience Begins with Receiving – Building resilience doesn't mean pushing harder; it means receiving fully from God and leaning into the support He offers through His presence, His Word, and our secure relationships. 2. Rest as a Rhythm for Resilience—Resilience thrives when we intentionally rest and refuse to hustle out of fear. Making rest a daily habit strengthens our ability to face challenges with peace and confidence. 3. Secure Attachment is Foundational – Secure attachments to God and others empower us to live fearlessly. In safe relationships, we experience a transformation that helps us handle life's difficulties with a rooted sense of peace, love, and resilience. In this solocast of the DealQuest Podcast, I dive into the potential hazards of focusing too much on raising capital for your business. While securing funding can be crucial, it's essential to ensure it doesn't detract from your core business activities and growth strategies. This episode is packed with insights for entrepreneurs and business leaders who are considering or currently engaged in fundraising efforts. I share critical considerations on how to balance the pursuit of capital with the actual development and strategic execution of your business. EVALUATE YOUR INDUSTRY AND DEVELOPMENT STAGE When considering raising capital, it's crucial to conduct thorough research into the funding history of your industry. Some sectors have well-established funding pathways and are more attractive to investors due to historical performance and growth potential. For example, technology and healthcare often have robust investment histories, while niche markets may struggle to attract the same level of interest. Understanding where your industry stands can significantly impact your strategy and help you identify the best approach for seeking investment. In addition to researching your industry, you need to assess your company's development stage. Early-stage companies typically need to provide more proof of concept to entice investors. This might include developing a successful MVP (Minimum Viable Product) that demonstrates your product's viability and market potential. Investors want to see tangible evidence that your business model works and that there is demand for your product or service. This proof of concept can be a critical factor in securing funding. TIMING AND COST OF EARLY CAPITAL Securing early-stage capital often comes at a high cost, requiring you to give up a larger equity share in your company. This can be a tough decision, as giving away too much equity early on might limit your control and future earnings. It's essential to weigh the immediate benefits of securing capital against the long-term costs. Will the funding help you scale quickly enough to offset the loss of equity? Carefully consider how much equity you are willing to part with and at what valuation.Pitching to investors, especially at an early stage, can be a valuable learning experience. However, it's vital to ensure that you are genuinely ready for this step. Pitching too early can lead to unfavorable terms, such as investors demanding a significant equity stake for relatively small amounts of capital. This can also be a time-consuming process that might distract you from developing your product or service. Therefore, it's crucial to balance the benefits of early-stage pitching with the readiness of your company to handle investor scrutiny and demands. IDENTIFY THE RIGHT INVESTORS Evaluating whether your company is suitable for raising funds from friends and family is another critical step. Friends and family rounds can be a viable source of early-stage funding, especially if your personal network is willing and able to invest in your venture. However, not everyone has access to this type of capital, and mixing personal relationships with business can sometimes lead to complications. It's essential to ensure that both parties are clear about the risks and expectations involved. If friends and family funding isn't an option, your next focus should be on attracting professional angel investors. Angel investors typically look for companies with some level of traction and growth potential. This means you'll need to show evidence of your company's progress, such as user metrics, revenue growth, or strategic partnerships. Demonstrating your ability to achieve milestones can make your company more appealing to these seasoned investors who are looking for promising opportunities with the potential for significant returns. EVALUATE FUNDING SUCCESS BEYOND RAISING CAPITAL How you deploy the funds is critical to your company's success. Simply securing investment does not guarantee that your business will thrive. It's important to have a clear plan for how you will use the capital to achieve your strategic goals. Look at other companies that have raised funds successfully and analyze their use of capital. Learn from their successes and failures to avoid common pitfalls and maximize the impact of your funding.Additionally, consider the long-term implications of early funding. While early-stage investment can provide the necessary resources to accelerate growth, it can also come with strings attached, such as stringent performance expectations from investors. Analyze whether early-stage funding helped or hindered other companies in the long run. Did it lead to sustainable growth, or did it put undue pressure on the founders? Use these insights to inform your own strategy and make more informed decisions about when and how to seek investment. UNDERSTAND THE FUNDING ENVIRONMENT The availability and flow of capital can fluctuate based on broader economic trends. For example, during economic downturns, investors may become more cautious and selective about where they put their money. Conversely, in a booming economy, there may be more capital available, but also more competition for investment. Understanding these trends will help you time your funding efforts effectively and approach the right investors at the right time.In addition to economic conditions, keep an eye on trends within your industry. Certain sectors may be more attractive to investors at different times due to emerging technologies, regulatory changes, or shifts in consumer behavior. Being aware of these trends can help you position your company more favorably and increase your chances of securing investment. For example, if there is a growing interest in sustainable products, companies in the green tech sector might find it easier to attract funding.ALGIN WITH BUSINESS OBJECTIVESSeeking capital should support your strategic goals, not distract from them. Ensure that the pursuit of investment is in line with your vision for the company and that it helps you achieve your long-term objectives. This alignment will help you stay focused and make more strategic decisions about your business growth. Finally, be realistic about your company's readiness for funding. Assess whether your company is truly prepared to seek investment and what type of funding is most appropriate. Not all businesses are ready for venture capital, and for some, bootstrapping or smaller, incremental investments might be a better fit. Honest self-assessment will help you avoid the pitfalls of seeking capital prematurely and ensure that you are making the best choices for your company's growth and sustainability.Tune into Episode 309 - Solocast 69 to uncover how to avoid common pitfalls and make informed decisions about capital and growth. Here are the first building blocks you need to start building your life after healing. We'll discuss the things you should be journaling about and exercises you can begin doing to get started. Here's a quick look. Listen in to learn more. This is about the blueprint and these are the strategies for crafting a fulfilling life beyond the shadows of narcissistic abuse.  Here's to designing a life that radiates resilience and joy after overcoming the impact of trauma. Journal questions: If you were already the woman you wanted to be in the life, love, and work you wanted to have, what would that life look like and how would you be moving through the world. Get clear on the vision and picture, as far as you know it right now. You might always shift and change it later. As you start your day, check in with yourselves about decisions you can make in your day that are consistent with that vision. In moments of decision making, ask yourselves which choices take you closer to that vision and choose accordingly. At the end of the day, review how you did and hold yourself accountable to any places where you moved further away and allow yourselves a do over. Journal Two: When you are doing well and feeling good, what is a list of things that have contributed to you doing good and feeling well. Which things have you stopped? What do you need to return to? How are you going to go about doing so? Journal Three: Climate check. What needs your attention? What is the climate of your life, love or work? What are the weather events that are contributing to a hard climate? What needs to be tended to? What needs to be increased? In this episode, we're going to talk about whole body wellness, and we have just the right guest to speak to that. Paul Tijerina is a master health coach with expertise in functional nutritional therapy and primal health. And boy does he have compelling stuff to share! As hotshots, it is part of our job to make sure we're consistently operating in our best form. Consequently, things like proper nutrition, exercise and good sleep come into play. But this is also one of the most hotly contested areas around, with different schools of thoughts having opposing claims, and it's sometimes really hard to get to the truth.Paul makes it easier for us by breaking it down to the simplest, most fundamental concepts. If you want to know more, then it's time to tune in!A little about Paul Tijerina...Paul Tijerina is a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and Primal Health Coach Level 2, who also goes by the title of Master Health Coach. Once a West Point graduate and army veteran, Paul found himself at his lowest point after leaving the military in 2002. With a weight of 275 pounds, high blood pressure, pre-diabetic condition, major digestive issues, and intense inflammation, his health was in dire straits.Determined to turn things around, Paul embarked on a two-year vegan journey, hoping for improvement. While he saw some minor changes, he also encountered new complications. It was during this time that he discovered what he now refers to as ancestral health, and since then, he hasn't looked back. For more than a decade, Paul has been coaching individuals on animal-based nutrition, ancestral-based health, self-reliance, and simplified living, among other fascinating subjects. But recently, some significant life events compelled him to reevaluate his priorities. As a result, he made a bold decision: taking his message off the grid, he now travels the nation in a camping trailer, conducting seminars and aiding people in reconnecting with nature (a process he calls "rewilding").Paul's ultimate vision for his clients is to help them experience the freedom and joy that comes from being healthy, prepared, and leading a simpler life. By working with him, individuals have witnessed transformative outcomes such as shedding excess fat, enhancing performance, boosting energy levels, improving hormonal balance, strengthening digestion, and enjoying better mental and emotional wellbeing. You can learn more about Paul and stay in the loop with what he's up to by following these links:https://superhumantransformation.com/paulctijerina-biohttps://www.instagram.com/paulctijerinahttps://www.linkedin.com/in/paulctijerinahttps://twitter.com/paulctijerinahttp://www.paulctijerina.com/homeYou know the drill...Stay safe, stay savage...Enjoy!---Updates!We launched a Patreon!!! You may have heard me talking lately about the "giant robot" in my gym - an advanced piece of exercise equipment built with a powerful two horsepower engine. It is the primary means by which I have been becoming "strong as a bull" of late with only three 20 minute strength training sessions per week. I've known about this crazy machine for years, but finally got one installed in my gym about 12 weeks ago and the results have been unparalleled. It's called the ARX. The ARX - which stands for Adaptive Resistance Exercise - is a mashup of single set to failure training and superslow training that can be used for extreme efficiency strength training or for rehab. The ARX technology “biohacks” strength training with a computer-controlled, motorized resistance that is capable of matching any force you produce, giving you a perfect rep with every rep. Unlike a traditional weight training machine that requires you to adjust the weight with pins or plates, there is no need to set the resistance while using ARX. Instead, the machine applies opposing resistance in direct proportion to what you are producing at each moment in time throughout an entire rep. The entire effort for that one single set to failure is then measured and displayed by the software in real-time. Special Offer Two years of additional ARX care (hardware warranty – parts & labor), bringing the total warranty to three years for all of Ben's listeners. Folks in big bodies have different considerations when finding a strength and muscle building resistance program. The principles are fundamentally the same, but the application is very different for someone who weighs 350 vs 150, even at the same level of muscular fitness. Many people who want to lose fifty pounds, lose a hundred pounds or more know that to do so with the best chance of long term success, they need to perform resistance training to preserve muscle mass and lean tissue while in a long-term caloric deficit. However, less apparent are the specific ways that "heavyweights" can get started while 1) Avoiding injury 2) Avoiding burn out 3) Enjoying the process and 4) steadily making progressIn this video I coach a weight loss client through the best ways to get started with resistance training for overweight people. You will learn* The importance of thinking about movement patterns rather than "exercises"* The progressions that can allow you to perform basic movements at your level* How to progress through these variations for maximal strength and muscle building* How being overweight offers huge advantages when performing calisthenics* How I got YOKED during quarantine because of the surprising benefit of calisthenics in a big body. And more!Examples mentioned in the videoPush-up progressionshttps://youtu.be/zkU6Ok44_CIPull-up progressionshttps://youtu.be/fO3dKSQayfgInverted Row Methodshttps://youtu.be/rloXYB8M3vUhttps://youtu.be/11F_O_sZ1Z4Squat progressionshttps://youtu.be/QVzdY5OM1KwSubscribe to the podcasthttps://easywayout.buzzsprout.com/shareLose Weight With John: https://www.facebook.com/groups/454610849203453/ John's Life-Changing Weight Loss Course:  https://johnoakes.xperiencify.io/bglw/sales/ Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0TOlMSsmaXDndmvu9F9-0g/Coaching Inquiries: john@oakesweightloss.com

This is sort of a follow up to the “emotionally raw” episode – and it’s for Emily – I hope you like it! Because in a more pervasive sense you are in a stage of reintegrating your knowledge of life, yourself, and also healing from trauma, while growing into fortified new and improved version of your self. So if you are reeling from a recent discovery or the life you planned fell apart- this is for you. It’s a framework I would like to present to you in the hopes that it gives you a point to focus on as you move through this time. Because – yes, this time is painful, but it’s also a time of growth. You’re growing right now whether you know it or not. So this is my way of saying, “Hey! Look over here! Grow in this direction!” I know this time is sad and painful, but consider that this is all part of the path. It leads you to a better place that you’re meant to be in, that you would not have reached otherwise. Because of a breaking down of structures in your life, a big window just opened and there's a wonderful opportunity sitting there. What is it? A permanent approach to life that comes from a very rare and valuable perspective. Think of it as a new program that you can upload into your brain that gifts you relief from all self inflicted pain that results from the desire to predict and control. That means living with an innate understanding of the difference between what is, and is not within your control. It’s also an innate grasp on what it means to be you – as your true and best you, a person who remains on stable ground at all times. This program you are going to upload? Let's just call it your inner balance. For more, head to TeaspoonofHappy.com and don't forget to smile! xo

This class is a good strength-builder. We start off dynamically to warm up the body and then move into a long holds sequence which will help to build strength, endurance and stamina. Especially good if you are looking for strong core, legs and back. Off the mat, this class helps you to look at your resistance to what's happening and to move through it with detachment rather than reacting. You will need your sticky mat and possibly a block to sit on and a blanket to keep warm in the closing relaxation. If you have any questions or comments then please get in touch with me at communityyogabristol@gmail.com. If you are looking for classes in the Bristol, UK area then give me a visit at www.bristolcommunityyoga.co.uk . If you would like to come on retreat with us at Yoga by Nature you can find out about our next retreat here.  This podcast goes out to you from me wit lots of love wherever you are.
