With 75% of its turning centres bought from Dugard Machine Tools, it's safe to say that C&K Precision Engineers Ltd is reaping the rewards of working with the South Coast machine tool specialist. The Stoke-on-Trent manufacturer is a subcontract machining, assembly and fabrication business serving the medical, aerospace, surveillance and general manufacturing sectors. Working in these high-end segments, C&K Precision demands machine tools capable of delivering high-quality, tight-tolerance workpieces from the most challenging material grades. Matthew Kelsall from C&K Precision Engineers says: “We moved to a new large facility in 2017, and since then, we have continually grown. We've invested in new machines with a better working environment and aim always to increase productivity. There is a skills shortage, and we are lucky to have a good team around us, but we have to maximise that with the most productive machines.” This is why six of the company's eight turning centres have been purchased from Dugard Machine Tools. The second-generation business was founded in 1969 kand eeps returning to Dugard, Matthew says: “One of the main things is reliability. The first Dugard machine we bought has been with us for six years and has been remarkably reliable. It's a very robust and rigid machine with box guideways, and we need that as we machine many exotic materials - we have a lot of faith in the machine.” The turning centres supplied by Dugard are all fitted with a Siemens CNC system. “With a lot of machine tool manufacturers, if you want a machine built to order, it typically takes twelve months to wait, and we simply couldn't wait for that. Dugard had a machine in stock with many additional bells and whistles, such as a sub-spindle, that we never had before. The success of that machine led us to buy two more machines. That's because if something serves you well, you stick with what you know.” “Since we purchased the first machine, we found that we could get more and more work through it, which eventually created a bottleneck. We had to do something about the bottleneck, so we bought a second machine with a Y-axis last year. We have now just had the third machine installed”. As a turner operating four machines at C&K Precision Engineers, Matthew Gerrard says: “The machines are built extremely well, and they perform brilliantly on materials like inconel 625 and titanium – they fly through the material. You can make massive cuts on the Dugard SMEC machines, whereas others can stall. This is due to the really high quality and high specification motors and the box way construction. We also love Siemens control as it is very user-friendly and has a lot of technical add-ons. If we're doing jobs out of titanium that may have just a 0.9mm wall thickness, the Dugard SMEC machines ensure that you don't get any vibration. Additionally, the machines have BMT65 toolholders that are very large and robust for heavy-duty cutting.” “Looking at the first machine we bought with the Y-axis, it's just so much more versatile and capable than our other machines. We have other machines with live tooling, but the Dugard Y-axis is perfect for opening slots and counter-boring holes. We were so impressed by the sub-spindle on the SMEC SL2500SY that we purchased a SMEC SL2500Y, which is an almost identical machine except for the sub-spindle. We purchased this as we only needed one machine with the sub-spindle, but we still needed a machine with a Y-axis for doing one-off jobs.” “We've just added a SMEC SL2000, and my son, who is just starting his apprenticeship, is on that machine. It doesn't have the live tooling facility, but it has a Siemens 828 CNC control and is perfect for learning.” Matthew Kelsall says: “When you buy a machine, nobody wants to be stuck at the end of a phone talking to someone you've never spoken to before, but when you speak to Dugard, you have a great relationship that work well.”

Filly is joined with the trail-blazing Jen Dugard, a fitness professional passionate about serving mums and exercise trainers. I came across Jen back in 2021 - she was one of our coaches in a business program we were doing back then. What drew me to Jen was her fierce passion and advocacy for mums to receive safe exercise advice and prevent pelvic-floor related injuries that are rife in the exercise world. I had my own personal experience of a horrible injury 6-months postpartum in the gym, which caused ongoing chronic pain for years and fed other body burnout symptoms. I don't want any other woman to experience this, so I knew we needed to get Jen onto the podcast. Get ready for sooooo much gold insight into your body - especially the unknown regions of your pelvic floor! (Oh, and a VERY personal story about how I peed my pants in public recently - eek!!!). Founded in 2005, DGF Engineering Ltd has been on a continuous growth trajectory and at every step of the way, the Hertfordshire manufacturer has turned to Dugard for its industry-leading machine tools. The company started its investment in Dugard machines with the Dugard 1000 3-axis VMC – this has since been followed by a SMEC SL 2000M turning centre and now a smaller Dugard 550 machining centre.  The acquisition of the SMEC SL 2000M turning centre in 2022 was due to the turned components at DGF Engineering Ltd increasingly needing secondary milling operations on machining centres. To free up milling capacity, the Royston-based subcontractor that produces a diverse range of components for a variety of industry sectors believed the Dugard SMEC would make a major difference – and it has.  Recalling why the company invested in a live turning centre, Liam Fernard from DGF Engineering recalls: “Turning work with milled features were tying up our CNC milling department for too long and we needed a solution with live tooling. As we were happy with the service that we received from Dugard on our Dugard 1000 3-axis VMC, we naturally looked at their lathes and the SMEC SL 2000M turning centre ticked   all the boxes.” With the service, support and reliability of Dugard being as robust as the machines, the company turned to Dugard once again when it needed additional milling capacity. Discussing the latest acquisition, Liam says: “We bought the Dugard 550 for several reasons, one being the small footprint. We didn't have a huge amount of room and the machine that the Dugard 550 replaced was only a small machine. A lot of the work we do is quite small components, so we didn't need a big bed and big footprint machine like our Dugard 1000. So, this machine ticked all the boxes and it fits exactly where we wanted it.” Discussing the work the company is machining at present, Liam says: “As a subcontractor, we will typically machine anything, but our main industry focus is the scientific, liquid and gas testing industries - but then we could also be doing work for a farmer down the road.” Looking at the materials the company machines, Liam continues: “We machine a wide range of materials that include aluminium and stainless steel, and for a small machine the Dugard 550 handles stainless very very well. The machine has a 10,000rpm spindle, the horsepower is very good and it will cut all day long.”  Referring to why the company has purchased yet another Dugard machine, Liam adds: “We have been really impressed with the first two Dugard machines we bought and the service has been great. The machine it replaced was getting a little bit old and the spindle was only 6000rpm, so it just wasn't machining how we really wanted to. From experience, the first place for us to go was Dugard to see what they had available - the Dugard 550 ticked all the boxes.” From order to delivery, the machine was on the shop floor in a matter of weeks. As Liam continues: “The machine was a stock model in their showroom and as soon as we were interested, we paid a deposit and it was just a case of sorting things out here to make sure we could get the machine placed. Dugard delivered the machine and took the old machine away and they re-sited another machine for us - it was all done and dusted in 1 ½ hours. As a company, Dugard understands we have to make money and downtime loses money, so they do everything in their power to get us up and running as quickly as they can.”  The company is programming its machines with an off-line CAM system, alluding to this, Liam says: “The latest machine fits in easily, just like the other machines. There is a post-processor for the machines, so you don't have to make any changes. Additionally, we have a mist filtration system on the latest machine. We were debating whether we needed a filtration system, but to make sure we were compliant with legislation, we installed a Dugard filtration unit on the Dugard 550 machine.” In conclusion, Liam says: “The machine was delivered with the filtration system already fitted, and as we were very happy with immediate results, we asked Dugard to retrofit filtration systems to our other machines. This was done a day after the Dugard 550 machine was delivered and installed. The service has been fantastic and whenever I speak to anyone who is looking for a machine, I always recommend Dugard because they haven't put a foot wrong for us. There is nothing that is too much trouble for them and they will help you out as much as they can.”

France, 1940. In a stunning move, the armies of Nazi Germany annihilate the French military and capture Paris, the crown jewel of Europe, in a matter of a few weeks. As Adolf Hitler tightens his grip on the fabled “City of Lights,” the shocked Allies regroup and begin planning for a daring counterattack into Fortress Europe. The longer the Nazis hold the city, the greater danger its citizens face. By 1944, over 120,000 Parisians have died, and countless more tortured in the city's Gestapo prisons and sent to death camps. The exiled general Charles de Gaulle, headquartered in the bar of London's Connaught Hotel, convinces General Dwight Eisenhower to put Paris before Berlin. Unless Paris is taken immediately, he tells Ike, the City of Lights will be leveled. The race for Paris begins. TAKING PARIS: The Epic Battle for the City of Lights (Dutton Caliber), is the riveting story of the people who set that beautiful city free. Vigorously researched, Martin Dugard's historical narrative takes readers behind-the-scenes in an epic, page-turning account of the battle for the heart and soul of Paris in one of the twentieth century's darkest moments. Dugard, one of the most widely read writers today, has co-authored one of the most successful nonfiction series in publishing history with the Killing books. Now, with TAKING PARIS, Dugard showcases his unique ability to pair fascinating historical research with compelling, page-turning storytelling. The players holding the fate of Paris in their hands are some of the biggest historical figures of the era: Winston Churchill, Franklin Roosevelt, General George S. Patton, and the exiled French general Charles de Gaulle. From the fall of Paris in 1940 to the race for Paris in 1944, this enthralling drama unfolds through their decisions—for better and worse. TAKING PARIS is history told at a breathtaking pace, a sprawling yet intimate saga of heroism, desire, and personal sacrifice for all that is right. Martin Dugard is a #1 New York Times bestselling author and historian who has written on topics ranging from presidents to Egyptian pharaohs. He is coauthor of the popular Killing series along with other acclaimed works including Into Africa, The Explorers, The Murder of King Tut, and To Be a Runner. She figured the car was pulling over to ask her for directions. The man driving the car, Phillip Greg Garrido, rolled down the window, and tased Jaycee unconscious … and abducted her. Then we dive into the infamous Duke Lacrosse Scandal. In 2006, the school's lacrosse team threw a party where they invited exotic dancers to perform. After a verbal altercation the women left. Born in South Africa, Prof. Dugard was a prominent critic of his home country's apartheid regime. His work on Israel/Palestine is particular of interest in light of the recent reports by Human Rights Watch and Israeli human rights organization B'tselem invoking apartheid in relation to Israel. Prof. Dugard invoked the question of apartheid years prior to the publication of either aforementioned report this year. Dugard and I will be discussing a number of issues including the question of apartheid, the role of the international community in resolving this conflict long-term, why he believes the U.S. has disqualified itself as a broker of peace, the U.S. blocking of UN statements concerning the latest developments in the conflict, the International Criminal Court, right-wing demagoguery in Israeli politics, and much, much more.  * Please note that this episode was recorded just hours before the announcement of the latest ceasefire between Hamas and Israel.

ELE Advanced Technologies Ltd is a company with an aerospace pedigree that dates back to 1955 when Earby Light Engineers (ELE) was founded to manufacture compressor blades for Rolls-Royce. In the 65 years since, the Colne company has expanded its scope by targeting the aerospace and automotive sectors. In fact, the diversification into the automotive commercial diesel market has seen the company open a manufacturing facility in Slovakia to supply global commercial diesel engine manufacturers. In the last decade, ELE has invested heavily in production equipment for the manufacture of IGT, aerospace and automotive power generation components and assemblies such as blades, vanes and a range of turbine components. Part of this investment has included the installation of three Kitamura machining centres, with the latest machine arriving from Dugard at the start of April - during the pandemic lockdown period. The Kitamura Mycenter HX500iG/630 from Dugard Machine Tools is an identical model and specification to an HX500iG/630 installed in 2017. Commenting on the purchase of the third Kitamura, David Dudley from ELE Advanced Technologies says: “The reason that we bought the third machine is that the process from the other two machines is such a repeatable process, we wanted a machine that we could plug in and play, and just start making components that will conform to specification perfectly.” Alluding to the Mycenter HX500iG/630 machine, David continues: “The parts we are making on the Kitamura machines are being installed on an industrial gas turbine engine and they are manufactured from exotic materials like nimonic. The parts have very tight tolerances and the materials are very difficult to machine. With the Kitamura machines, you can load a part, machine it and then be confident that when you put it on the CMM, everything will be 100% correct.” Extending upon this point and referring to the long cycle times required with the parts, David says: “The beauty of the Mycenter is that we can now use ceramic endmills from NTK and these allow us to remove material a lot faster than before. This gives us the ability to rough machine a lot faster and then come in with finishing tools for the final passes.” Taking this productivity a step further, the Kitamura Mycenter HX500iG/630 machines have a 50 tool ATC as standard, along with a high-torque 12,000rpm dual contact BT50 spindle configuration and a twin pallet configuration. Discussing this, David says: “The reason for the twin pallet setup is twofold. Firstly, there is the obvious benefit that we can load one pallet whilst the other is ‘in-cycle’ which reduces our setup times and keeps the spindles turning. Additionally, we are introducing a lot of new products all the time. With the twin pallet, we can use one pallet for production parts whilst simultaneously using the next pallet for development parts. This ensures we can get new projects up and running without disrupting production. This allows us to mix-and-match our production.” Furthermore, the Kitamura incorporates a 500 by 500mm pallet with the facility for a 630mm pallet, if needed. Machining all faces with sufficient clearance is not an issue as the machines have an X, Y and Z-axis travel of 870 by 800 by 930mm. Both Dugard and Kitamura actively promote the geometric precision of the machines and the hand-crafted manual scraping that makes the Mycenter range so precise. Commenting on this, David says: “The three Kitamura machines are heavy-duty machines and we know we can load both pallets on the machines and be confident that the parts coming off the machine are right first time. From a productivity perspective, we run the machines at 12,000rpm with 60m/min rapids. Both the Kitamura HX500iG machines in this cell are identical. They have the same spindles, tooling carousels and configurations.” Looking at the machining strategy and potential for deflection when machining turbine components, David says: “This was something we clearly had to consider when we were buying these machines, but the robustness of the Kitamura range means that deflection is not a factor.” Concluding on the service, David summarises: “The service has been fantastic. We bought the machine at the end of 2019 and the delivery was scheduled during the height of the pandemic. We are in the north of England and Dugard are in Brighton, but they delivered the machine and got it running in a matter of weeks, an excellent effort.”

Siemens delivers Simplicity on Dugard Machines. Benfleet based Wilson Tool & Engineering Ltd has recently purchased a brand new SMEC SL2000 turning centre from Dugard. MTD’s Paul Jones visited the Essex subcontractor to take a look at the new installation.

For over 50 years, Wilson Tool & Engineering has been at the forefront of the UK precision engineering industry. It's provided CNC machining, in-house heat-treatment, grinding & JIT services to global companies in a wide and varied range of industries. The machine shop is home to machine tools from a range of manufacturers and the SMEC SL2000 has proven the perfect addition for the subcontract company.

The compact SMEC SL2000 has a maximum machining diameter of 360mm with a machining length of 540 and an 8inch chuck as standard. Commenting upon the machine and a cutting test that Wilson Tool & Engineering Ltd is taking, Darren Wilson says: “We have just put a billet of EN24 in the 8-inch chuck with a 4.5mm side cut. In terms of material, there are more challenging materials, but it's still a challenge and the machine is just eating it alive! I’m not too sure whether it’s the V-D-I replacement mount or the rigidity of the machine, but it really is improving tool life and machining performance. Previously we were taking 1mm of side-cut and by upping the cut to 4.5mm, I was expecting the inserts to last for two components – we’ve currently machined 35 parts. That is a measure of the build quality of the machine.”

“We looked at a milling facility and a Y-axis lathe and I decided a C-axis wasn’t for us, but with just small batch runs and the subsequent set-up times of milling heads, we knew we wouldn’t get that time back. So, we opted for the SMEC. The machine was with us in just 10 days and as we specified the Siemens control, Dugard brought a machine in from Germany. There was a machine immediately available with a FANUC control, but we decided the FANUC control wasn’t for our business.”

MTD’s Paul Jones was particularly interested in taking a closer look at the new Siemens 828D CNC control interface with a touch screen facility. Darren Wilson says: “There are a few new extras on this control such as a touch screen interface and the control is the perfect size that makes it really workable.” Looking at the Shopturn software on the Siemens control interface and talking through a cycle, Darren Wilson says: “The process is very simple. We can just select a turning cycle and then select stock removal and then a lot of information is pre-stored. So, we can pick a roughing tool, select the feed and the start and endpoint and then click ‘accept’. There is also a contour turning function that we can pick. From this, we can choose the option of external profiling and select a ‘new contour’. We can give the contour a name and then we have options, and I personally like to have the graphic view on. From here, we can add the X and Z axis parameters and whether we want to add a radius or chamfer and which direction the feature is in.”

“In this demo, I will just add a 2mm radius and I’ll also add a 5mm blend radius and change the X axis to 130mm diameter. Once we select our parameters, we can add the machining data, like the stock removal. This then provides tool, feed and depth of cut and finishing allowance options. Once the parameters are selected, we can do a quick simulation and that will load.”

Darren says: “The simulation is showing all the tool paths, depth of cut and radii. Sometimes if there is data missing, the simulation can add a radius at the front, and this is a lovely feature.” When asked what happens if you make a mistake, Darren says: “On this simulation, you can see where I have turned into the jaws. So, we can turn the simulation off, go back to our program parameters and see that the chuck jaws are set to 87.5mm, I can see that I have set that wrong and then go back to change that parameter. If you enter any details incorrectly, they will show up on the simulation and it won’t look right. So, this gives us an element of security.”

When asked if the touch screen is a gimmick or whether it helps the subcontract manufacturer, Darren says: “At the early stages of installation, it certainly looks like it’s the best control that we have in our business. Just using the touchscreen, we have a lot of shortcuts that speed up processes as it saves cursoring through cycles. When you have a long program, you can use the touchscreen to simplify and speed up the process.”

Throughout Martin Dugard's life, running has been a consistent place he always returns. He's written for Outside, Sports Illustrated, and Runner's World about the world of running. He recently updated and rereleased his best selling book 'To Be A Runner'. Since his start as a writer, Martin has gone on to be a New York Times bestselling author writing books with Bill O'Reilly, James Patterson, and Mark Burnett. In today's episode we chat about his rereleased book, taking the risk to leave a corporate job to chase his dream of being a freelance writer, the process of writing, collaboration with others to write books, and his tips for those who want to take the risk and go 'all in' on chasing their dreams.TODAY'S EPISODE IS SPONSORED BY Penji - Use code 'JUMBLE' to get 15% off your first monthOpportunityInChina.comAbout MartinMr. Dugard is also the author of the critically lauded memoir To Be A Runner, a series of essays which takes the reader around the world as he recounts his personal journey through the world of distance running. It is a book about life itself, and how the simple act of stepping outside for a run is a metaphor for our daily desire to be the best possible version of ourselves, step by step. This attribute can be seen in the diversity and depth of Mr. Dugard's body of work. His writing and research into global exploration resulted in The Explorers (Simon and Schuster, 2013), an engaging narrative about the motivations for pursuing adventure — even at the risk of death. His ten years covering the Tour de France resulted in Chasing Lance (Little, Brown, 2005) a travelogue combining history, sports and gastronomy. Other works include the New York Times bestseller The Murder of King Tut (with James Patterson; Little, Brown, 2009); The Last Voyage of Columbus (Little, Brown, 2005), which tells the riveting tale of the legendary Admiral’s final, ill-fated journey in crisp, swashbuckling fashion; Into Africa: The Epic Adventures of Stanley and Livingstone (Doubleday, 2003), Farther Than Any Man: The Rise and Fall of Captain James Cook (Pocket Books, 2001), Knockdown(Pocket Books, 1999), and Surviving the Toughest Race on Earth(McGraw-Hill, 1998). In addition, Dugard lived on the island of Pulau Tiga during the filming of Survivor's inaugural season to write the bestselling Survivor with mega-producer Mark Burnett.Mr. Dugard is the writer and producer of A Warrior's Heart, starring Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2011.An adventurer himself, Dugard regularly immerses himself in his research to understand characters and their motivations better. To better understand Columbus he traveled through Spain, the Caribbean and Central America. For Tut he explored pharaohs' tombs in Egypt's Valley of the Kings. He followed Henry Morton Stanley’s path across Tanzania while researching Into Africa (managing to get thrown into an African prison in the process), and swam in the tiger shark-infested waters of Hawaii’s Kealakekua Bay to recreate Captain James Cook’s death for Farther Than Any Man. And for To Be A Runner, he ran with the bulls in Pamplona, suffered electric shock and hypothermia as part of Britain's Tough Guy competition, and explored Japanese WWII bunkers on the island of Saipan. On the more personal side of adventure, Dugard competed in the Raid Gauloises endurance race three times, and flew around the world at twice the speed of sound aboard an Air France Concorde. The time of 31 hours and 28 minutes set a world record for global circumnavigation. Dugard’s magazine writing has appeared in Esquire, Outside, Sports Illustrated, and GQ, among others. In 1997, Dugard was awarded the Dallas Area Press Club’s Katie Award for Best Magazine Sports Story.Mr. Dugard spends his afternoons as the Head Cross Country Coach at JSerra Catholic High School in San Juan Capistrano, California — a position he has held since 2005. His boys and girls squads regularly qualify for the California State Championships, and his girls team won the state title in 2010, 2011 and 2012. In addition, he serves on the Board of Directors of the USA Track & Field Foundation, charged with growing youth distance running in America. Martin Dugard and his wife live in Orange County, California. My guest is Martin Dugard. He's the author of the critically acclaimed To Be A Runner (https://www.amazon.com/Be-Runner-Racing-Mountains-Running/dp/1635653630/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=to+be+a+runner+paperback&qid=1554858046&s=digital-text&sr=8-1-spell). Now with a new introduction and additional stories accumulated in the eight years since its original publication, To Be a Runner is a fresh and exciting update on a running classic. With an exuberant mix of passion, insight, instruction, and humor, bestselling author and lifelong runner Martin Dugard takes a journey through the world of running to illustrate how the sport helps us fulfill that universal desire to be the best possible version of ourselves each and every time we lace up our shoes. To Be a Runner represents a new way to write about running by bridging the chasm between the two categories of running books: how-to and personal narrative. Spinning colorful stories of his running and racing adventures on six continents, Dugard considers what it means to truly integrate running into one's life. As entertaining as it is provocative, To Be a Runner (https://www.amazon.com/Be-Runner-Racing-Mountains-Running/dp/1635653630/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=to+be+a+runner+paperback&qid=1554858046&s=digital-text&sr=8-1-spell) is about far more than running: It is about life, and how we should live it. “I always wanted to be that voice for the people without voices.  I had that foundation of love that said you are special. Walk with your head up.  You have so much to offer the world.” Dr. Kellie Warren grew up in Ohio.  Her family was loving, but not all of her experiences were easy.  Warren was bused across town to school where she was one of the only African Americans.  She was frequently the victim of racism and verbal attacks.    “They can destroy you.  They are even more damaging than physical abuse at the time because once you begin to believe in the messages, they shape who you are.  That journey of negative messaging happens to us a lot younger than it does for boys.” Warren's parents encouraged her to focus on education and constantly talked of all of her great potential.   “In those settings where people didn't believe in me, I believed in myself,” she says.  “When I look over my life, without having people believe in me, expose me to new opportunities, I could have very well been another statistic of a negative girl coming out of the inner city.” Now, as CEO of Florence Crittenton in Phoenix, Arizona, Warren helps girls see the value and purpose in their own lives.  For 119 years, the organization has been looking out for girls, empowering them, supporting them, and listening to their voices.   “We want to tell these girls that validation has to come from within.  Your environment cannot be in charge of defining your worth.” Girls as young as 10 go to Florence Crittenton, either through state services or through families in crisis reaching out directly for help.  Many of the girls have histories of trauma, exploitation, abuse and neglect.  At Florence Crittenton they are provided a safe place to live and surrounded by people who want to see them turn their lives around.   It's a tough job, Warren admits.  “When you have experienced a lot of negativity and have a pessimistic outlook, you are not going to change overnight.”  But they stay true to the mission of safety, hope and opportunity. And now they are getting some high-profile support from a woman who knows what it is like to walk through adversity and see the other side.  Kidnapping survivor Jaycee Lee Dugard is teaming up with Florence Crittenton to share her personal story. Several years ago Dugard wrote a book, “A Stolen Life” and now travels the country speaking about her ordeal and how she managed to put her life back together.   The kidnapping happened in 1991 as Dugard was walking to a school bus stop near her home in South Lake Tahoe, California.  She was 11 years old at the time. Dugard's kidnapper, a convicted sex offender, kept her in a concealed area behind his house for 18 years.  During that time, she had two daughters.  Phillip Garrido and his wife, Nancy, were arrested in 2009 and later convicted and sent to prison where they belong.  Dugard was left to pick up the pieces of her life.   Dr. Warren says her resiliency is extraordinary.   “She is an example of not letting the oppressor win.  She has decided to become a champion.”  This is an important message for the girls at Florence Crittenton — and well beyond—  about making choices.  “As long as they still have life,” Warren says, “there is still hope.” For more on the mission of Florence Crittenton you can visit their website www.florcrit.org The post Do Not Let The Oppressor Win: Kidnapping Victim Jaycee Dugard Teams Up With Phoenix CEO To Spread Hope appeared first on Inspired Media 360 TV - Inform | Inspire | Engage.

Marty Dugard is a runner, he coaches the JSerra High School Running Lions Cross Country teams, and is a New York Best-Selling author of over 14 books.  So it made sense for him to put pen to paper and speak about something he is passionate about.  But he did it from a different angle than most.   His book "To Be a Runner doesn't refer to becoming a better runner - or even a runner at all.  It is about the process of seeking that better version of ourselves through the daily, mind-altering discipline of challenging personal limits." Coach Dugard captures some of the essence of WHY we run: what motivates us, what hurts us, what drives us to wake up before the sun and race up a hill to reach a summit that cannot be seen with a headlamp.  If you are a runner, you will find a kinship with this book.  If you aren't a runner, you will understand why people run. Keep Pushing...Always! Check out his other books HERE
