When it comes to managing expectations and accepting the realistic limits of our professional and personal lives (no one can do everything), our guest this week on the Faculty Factory Podcast has some strong words of encouragement. Join us for this week's edition of our podcast as Sarah Andrews, MD, makes a return appearance to discuss prioritizing what matters most as an academic medicine professional facing seemingly endless competing demands on our time. For those that are new to our show, Dr. Andrews is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Did you catch her first appearance on the podcast with us? You can check out “Habits and Hacks with Sarah R. Andrews, MD,” here: https://facultyfactory.org/sarah-andrews/ This week's discussion also includes wisdom on dealing with disappointment when you feel the pressure to please everyone in your life, both at home and at work. (Spoiler alert: it is impossible to please everyone, so you must be comfortable with saying no, and that takes practice.) In this interview, Dr. Andrews also touches on the importance of including our family and colleagues in the decision-making process of uncovering what's most vital by simply asking them from time to time, “What's most important to you?”

Sarah Andrews has this way of stripping back the noise & replacing hustle with humility. A gentle woman, who describes herself as '90% introvert', she has crated beautiful spaces by considering them her palette to tell stories & then inviting in a global community of folk to share her special space. The key, she says, to creating spaces that are warm, nurturing and supportive of the community they are designed to hold, is to be sure that “beautiful is not the ‘budget”.“My plan was to teach a few what I knew and then go sailing but it didn't happen like that because what was being taught was so special & it really did what it said on the box”Today the futuresteading pod invites you to open the box and learn ways to create spaces that nurture togetherness. Locked On Baylor - Daily Podcast On Baylor Bears Football & Basketball
The vibes around Baylor basketball are really high after a win over #7 Kansas and with the Texas Longhorns coming to town for one final matchup as Big 12 foes. Basketball expert Branden MacKinnon of Our Daily Bears joins the show to explain his reasoning why he is writing that this Bears team looks a lot like the team that won the national championship in 2021. Baylor women's basketball star Sarah Andrews announced during Sunday's senior day ceremonies she would be coming back for one last season with the Bears. On her day, Andrews is one of the best point guards in the country, so she could be a huge part of an important season for Nicki Collen's program. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! In this podcast episode, Josh Levine interviews Lisa Forrest and Sarah Andrews from Live Oak Bank about changes to the SBA 7(a) program and what to expect in 2024. They discuss the implementation process of the changes, the impact on buyers looking to get an SBA loan, and the interpretation of the new rules by different lenders. They also highlight some of the key changes, such as the equity injection requirements, partial buy-in rules, and the removal of the personal resource test. Additionally, they share their thoughts on potential future changes to the program, including the expansion of benefits for underserved communities and the reinstatement of certain policies. The speakers advise buyers to be patient, creative, and solution-oriented in the current market, as multiples remain high while borrowing power decreases. They also emphasize the importance of understanding one's own model and thesis to find deals that align with their goals. On a dark night sailing across the Pacific Ocean, Sarah Andrews' story took a dramatic turn. A harrowing storm caught up with her, sunk the boat she called home and left her stranded and alone in Mexico with no money, no passport, and only the wet clothes on her back. After losing everything she owned on that fateful night at sea, Sarah would spend several years trying to find ways to replace both her beloved boat and the incomparable feeling of being one with the water. When she eventually spotted an ad for a run-down cottage on Tasmania's rugged West Coast, she didn't hesitate. She bought the shack, sight unseen, unaware that fixing it up would become the first chapter in her biggest and most rewarding adventure yet.Determined to bring back its lost character and charm, Sarah lovingly transformed the small waterfront cottage, befittingly named Captains Rest, into the cozy and serene haven that so many people across the world have fallen in love with. From enjoying strong cups of coffee by the fire to gazing out over the stormy sea and starlit sky, Captains Rest was designed for the simple, but wonderful things in life.Captains Rest established Sarah as a visual storyteller, teacher and stylist, and perfectly reflects the relaxed and timeless aesthetic that she is now known for. As you can probably tell since I ramble on about it all the time, one of my favourite parts of creating this show is hearing not only so many fascinating and unique stories I might not otherwise have come across, but even within those stories, getting to actually sit down with the protagonist to unearth the parts that shorter interviews or written pieces might skate over. Today's guest is the perfect example of that whose incredible success has gained her worldwide recognition but whose earlier chapters fascinated me even more. Sarah Andrews is the owner of iconic Tasmanian Airbnb Captain's Rest that she bought as a shack in 2016 despite locals promising her that nobody would come to visit the middle of nowhere. It is now booked out every day of the year and up to almost a year in advance earning $10-$15k per month with an entire local economy starting to build up around the venue as crowds started to flock to Tasmania's remote West Coast. Applying her earlier science background to the science of hosting and marketing, Sarah has since turned her newfound expertise into a globally acclaimed The Hosting Masterclass guiding other business owners to success around the world and her new book Principles of Style is also soon to come out. But what I loved hearing the most was the rollercoaster it took to get here covering a career as a spatial scientist, a year living on a yacht travelling the world, a traumatic Mexican storm leading to a shipwreck like rescue by the Mexican navy and so much more in between. I mean, if there's a film director listening in to this one, you're welcome – I was both emotionally exhausted and invigorated by the end of this episode which is really only just the beginning for Sarah Andrews. I hope you enjoy as much as I did! Sarah Andrews had spent her life searching for purpose. Until one day scrolling the internet, she found her answer: a run-down cottage in Tasmania. It was secluded, overlooked the sea and needed some love... That cottage, Captains Rest, is now one of the most sought-after luxury Airbnbs in the country. From the moment I landed on this Instagram grid, I was captivated... The images alone just transported me immediately to the remote far west corner of Tasmania where this beautifully renovated little shack is located, Captain's Rest. I then learnt more about the owner, Sarah Andrews. Sarah purchased the shack years ago and transformed it into this magical space. And now, this remote little shack on the edge of the earth is one of the world's most sought after Airbnb accommodation listings. As a result of her success with Captain's Rest, Sarah soon had enquiries flooding in from other aspiring Airbnb providers, wanting to know how she created this amazing business. Sarah now runs 'The Hosting Masterclass' showing people how to achieve this. And boy has she achieved some phenomenal results. She has an incredible story with such a diverse background of experience, including a stint running her own marketing agency. But I want her to tell you that so please sit and listen to the incredible Sarah Andrews. Join the marketing conversation and stay up to date in the free How to do Marketing Facebook group.
