Residue: A True Crime Podcast

The 1983 made-for-TV movie Adam tells the true story of six-year-old Adam Walsh, who was abducted from a Sears department store in Hollywood, Fl in July 1981. The movie follows his parents, John and Reve Walsh, as they struggle with the devastating loss of their son and the failures of the system meant to protect children. The real-life case behind the movie had a lasting impact. John Walsh became a well-known victims' rights advocate and later hosted America's Most Wanted. The Walsh family helped establish the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. Adam remains one of the most influential true crime TV movies in American history, remembered not just for its emotional storytelling but for the real change it helped create. It is a historic day for President Trump and his second presidency. The world celebrated as all living hostages were returned after 2 tormenting years of being held captive. President Trump received a hero's welcome at the Knesset as he spoke to Israel's parliament about the triumph and future of Israel. Winsome Earle-Sears, the current Lieutenant Governor of Virginia and Republican Gubernatorial Candidate for Virginia is here to discuss her vision for Virginia. As the latest Trafalgar poll shows a neck and neck race, Earle-Sears exposed Abigail Spanberger on the debate stage earlier this week. From bad energy polices, open borders, crime and men in women's sports, Spanberger is the same woke nonsense that America voted out in 2024. Spanberger smirked when Earle-Sears confronted her about Jay Jones demented and disturbing text messages and refused to even look at Earle-Sears. Abigial Spanberger is a cunning politician only out for herself and Winsome Earle-Sears is here to serve the people of Virginia. Audrey Fahlberg broke the story on Jay Jones's homicidal fantasy. The story surrounding the text messages changed the race in Virginia and put Republicans in a place to sweep the election. Audrey unpacks the text message scandal along with more unscrupulous behavior from Jay Jones. Is The Secret To Fitness...Mall Walking?? with Krista Catwood

Send us a textOk, so you know how most people think of mall walking as the thing your grandma does in her pastel tracksuit, swinging her arms while passing Sears for the 18th time? Well, my guest today, Krista Katwood, has taken that concept, cranked it to 11, and turned it into a full-on community movement that's now making headlines everywhere from People Magazine to The Kelly Clarkson Show.Krista absolutely hated exercise; like, the idea of a treadmill gave her panic attacks (same, girl). But she also wanted to move her body in a way that didn't feel like torture. Enter: mall walking. Except Krista doesn't just shuffle quietly down the corridors. She's rocking a neon windbreaker onesie, blasting 80s jams, and leading a literal mischief of mall rats (yes, that's the collective noun for rats and it's glorious) through Portland's Lloyd Center mall.We talk about why making movement fun and ridiculous might actually be the secret to sticking with it, how malls are becoming unlikely hubs for community revival, and yes, why cheering someone on for eating an Auntie Anne's pretzel mid-walk is exactly the kind of fitness vibe we need more of.This episode is about joy, community, and finding a way to move your body that you actually look forward to. Krista proves that fitness doesn't have to be about punishing workouts or chasing some arbitrary number. It can be about connection, silliness, and blasting “Eye of the Tiger” while you ride an escalator like it's your personal runway show. What's Inside:How Krista hacked her hatred of exercise into a fitness movement that stuckThe five hilarious but genius rules of mall walking (spoiler: you must pump your arms)Why revitalizing “dead malls” might actually be a public health winThe surprising community-building magic of silly fitness ritualsSo here's my question for you. What would fitness feel like if you stopped trying to force yourself into something you hate and instead leaned into joy? What would your version of the “ridiculous but sustainable” movement look like? Message me on Instagram and tell me. I want to hear it.Mentioned in This Episode:Krista Katwood on InstagramFood Court 5000Oonagh Duncan on InstagramFit Feels GoodLeave me a voice note on Speak Pipe!

The Shutdown Senate VoteThe shutdown rolls on, and Senate Majority Leader John Thune has already said it is unlikely the Senate will vote this weekend. That means the government shutdown will extend into next week unless something changes Friday morning. He criticized Democrats for demanding an extension of the Affordable Care Act subsidies in the stopgap bill and insisted negotiations must begin only once the government reopens. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is predicting GOP unity will falter as the shutdown drags on, but I'm not convinced. From where I sit, the numbers tell the story. Three Democrats voted with Republicans last time. Rand Paul opposes continuing resolutions, so Republicans will need eight Democrats to reach 60 votes because J.D. Vance is the tie breaker. Every time the Senate votes, I'm watching to see if more than three Democrats side with Republicans — that's the real signal of where this is going.I don't believe Democrats are built for shutdowns. They're posturing as if they're ready to see this through, but the longer it goes the more likely rank and file members will embarrass Chuck Schumer into ending it. The real pain — furloughs, firings, and cuts to the federal workforce — is only going to show up if this lasts into next week. That's when the Russ Vought part of the story kicks in, and that's when this gets serious.Politics Politics Politics is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.Abigail Spanberger in VirginiaFormer Representative Abigail Spanberger is leading Virginia Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earl Sears by 10 points in the governor's race, 52 to 42, according to a new Emerson College and Hill survey conducted September 28 and 29. Early voting is already underway with more than 146,000 ballots cast. Among those voters, Spanberger leads 60 to 38 and still holds a 50 to 43 edge among those yet to vote. Her gains have come from independents, men, and younger voters. Independents back her by 19 points, men are evenly split, and voters under 50 favor her by 27 points. History suggests the party that is not in the White House usually wins the Virginia governor's race. Based on that, I'd bet Spanberger, even though this isn't exactly an electric matchup. The only real advantage Sears has is the men's and women's sports issue — a culture war topic, not a kitchen table one. I don't think that will be enough, especially in Northern Virginia, which is heavily government dependent and angry at the president. Add on Sears not being a great candidate and Spanberger looks far stronger heading into November.Bailouts are BackTreasury Secretary Scott Bessent says the Trump administration will announce substantial support for U.S. farmers next week, likely funded by tariff revenue. Soybean growers have been hit hard as China has halted U.S. purchases during their trade war. Bessent accused Beijing of using farmers as hostages in negotiations but pledged aid, noting their loyalty to Trump. He discussed the plan with the president and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, but details and costs remain unclear. Argentina's discounted soybean sales to China have undercut U.S. farmers and stoked tension. Bailouts are back, and this is classic Trump — he's never been a fiscal hawk and has no problem using the federal government's pocketbook to shape the world as he sees fit. That's where things stand. Farmers are hurting, the administration is signaling payouts, and we'll see next week how big the support really is.Chapters00:00:00 - Intro and Synagogue Shooting00:03:47 - Interview with Gloria Young00:34:28 - Update00:34:44 - Shutdown00:38:08 - Abigail Spanberger00:40:18 - Farmers00:41:49 - Interview with Gloria Young (con't)01:03:18 - Wrap-up This is a public episode. Drawing from cognitive science, personal experience, and examples like Muhammad Ali, Dave Chappelle, and Stuart Butterfield (Slack), Duke illustrates how our obsession with persistence blinds us to opportunity costs, sunk cost fallacies, and identity traps. From failed startups to toxic jobs to long-dead relationships, this conversation explores why “quitting on time will feel like quitting too early”, and how tools like turnaround times and kill criteria can save your future. Annie also shares insights into why optimism can distort expected value, how founders sabotage themselves clinging to identity, and what Sears, a bankrupt retailer, can teach us about letting go.This episode is a reality check for dreamers, and a blueprint for making smarter, faster, braver decisions. Meet my friends, Clay Travis and Buck Sexton! If you love Verdict, the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show might also be in your audio wheelhouse. Politics, news analysis, and some pop culture and comedy thrown in too. Here’s a sample episode recapping four takeaways. Give the guys a listen and then follow and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. Radical Leftwing Violence President Donald Trump meets with the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and addresses the press on multiple issues. The hosts analyze Trump’s remarks, including his blunt assessment of rising left-wing violence and his warning that radical rhetoric from Democrats is fueling domestic terrorism. The discussion shifts to the U.S. economy, highlighting a surprising 3.8% GDP growth in Q2, record-high stock prices, and falling interest rates. Clay and Buck break down how lower mortgage rates could unlock the housing market and why economic growth—not spending cuts—may be the only path to balancing the federal budget. They also touch on Elon Musk’s prediction that AI-driven innovation could help offset ballooning deficits. Phony Comey The conversation zeroes in on James Comey, the former FBI Director, as reports suggest possible criminal charges for lying under oath before the statute of limitations expires. Clay and Buck revisit Comey’s controversial role in targeting General Michael Flynn and his history of aggressive prosecutions, including the Martha Stewart case. They stress the importance of accountability to prevent the U.S. from descending into “banana republic” politics. Autism and Tylenol Dr. Mehmet Oz, now serving as CMS Administrator under President Trump and HHS Secretary RFK Jr., joins the show to discuss groundbreaking developments in autism research, including promising results from leucovorin therapy for children and emerging concerns about acetaminophen (Tylenol) use during pregnancy. He emphasizes transparency in government health data and warns against overusing medications during pregnancy. The conversation explores the alarming rise in autism rates—now estimated at 1 in 31 children—and potential environmental and lifestyle factors, including allergies, chemical exposure, and older parental age. Dr. Oz underscores the need for urgent research and public awareness, noting that autism prevalence has increased fivefold in 25 years. Nerding Out with Ryan In-depth political analysis with guest Ryan Girdusky, host of It’s a Numbers Game. The discussion kicks off with the New Jersey governor’s race, where New Jersey Republican Jack Ciattarelli is gaining momentum against Democrat Mikie Sherrill. Despite Democrats’ historic voter advantage, recent polls show a tightening race, fueled by Sherrill’s controversies—including a viral debate stumble and a resurfaced Naval Academy cheating scandal from 1994. Girdusky explains how skyrocketing electricity costs, driven by data center energy demands, have become a top voter concern in both New Jersey and Virginia, shaping campaign strategies. The conversation shifts to Virginia’s gubernatorial showdown between Republican Winsome Sears and Democrat Abigail Spanberger. Sears is focusing on cultural issues like transgender participation in women’s sports and locker rooms, while Spanberger avoids clear answers, offering vague responses that Clay and Buck criticize as political double-speak. The hosts argue that Democrats in purple states often run as moderates but govern as progressives, warning voters about the stakes in these off-year elections. Next, attention turns to the New York City mayoral race, where progressive candidate Zohran Mamdani is the overwhelming favorite according to betting markets, despite a crowded field including Andrew Cuomo, Eric Adams, and Curtis Sliwa. Girdusky predicts Mamdani’s win could have national implications for Democrats in the 2026 midterms, as his far-left policies on policing and immigration could become a liability for the party’s brand. This week on Newstalk KBOI, Brian takes a step back to look at how the way we shop, spend, and invest has completely transformed—from Sears catalogs to Amazon's overnight delivery. But convenience comes with new challenges: tariffs on small packages, global supply chain shifts, and questions about whether “buying American” is realistic in today's economy. Brian also digs into the big-picture investing takeaways. What industries will benefit from reshoring manufacturing? Will AI make some jobs (and workers) obsolete—and what does that mean for investors? And when it comes to gold, is it really a currency, a collectible, or just a heavily-taxed gamble? Plus, Brian wraps it all up with our team's approach to the “bucket strategy,” showing how a disciplined approach could even rescue Social Security—and why the hardest part is simply getting started.   Listen, Watch, Subscribe, Ask! https://www.therealmoneypros.com Host: Brian Wiley

GDP Script/ Top Stories for September 4th Publish Date: September 4th PRE-ROLL: MONSTER JAM From the BG AD Group Studio Welcome to the Gwinnett Daily Post Podcast. Today is Thursday, September 4th and Happy birthday to Mark Ronson I’m Peyton Spurlock and here are your top stories presented by KIA Mall of Georgia. Gwinnett buying former Sears store at Gwinnett Place Mall New Bailey Circuit truck part of Monster Jam event at Gas South Arena this weekend Yellow Daisy Festival returns to Stone Mountain Park this week Plus, Leah McGrath from Ingles Markets on apples All of this and more is coming up on the Gwinnett Daily Post podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen daily and subscribe! Break 1: MONSTER JAM STORY 1: Gwinnett buying former Sears store at Gwinnett Place Mall Gwinnett County just made another big move in its mission to transform the old Gwinnett Place Mall. This time? They’re buying the former Sears space—11.5 acres—for $11.5 million. Once slated for apartments, the property is now part of the county’s ambitious “Global Villages” vision: cultural hubs, green spaces, retail, restaurants, offices, and housing. Since 2021, the county’s been snapping up mall property—73.5 acres so far, plus land for a transit center. The Sears deal? Another step toward turning a faded mall into a thriving community centerpiece. STORY 2: New Bailey Circuit truck part of Monster Jam event at Gas South Arena this weekend Monster Jam’s got a new star rolling into town, and no, it’s not another beast with a name like Grave Digger or Megalodon. Meet Bailey Circuit—a colorful, tail-wagging, tongue-out monster truck inspired by Bailey, the robotic dog from Ringling Bros. Circus. Yep, a circus dog turned monster truck. Only in Monster Jam, right? Bailey Circuit, driven by 11-year Monster Jam veteran Brianna Mahon (aka “The Princess of Carnage”), made her debut this summer and is already stealing hearts. Catch Bailey Circuit and Mahon at Gas South Arena Sept. 6-7. STORY 3: Yellow Daisy Festival returns to Stone Mountain Park this week Stone Mountain Park’s 57th annual Yellow Daisy Festival is back, and it’s bringing over 400 artists from across the country. This isn’t just any arts and crafts show—it’s a nationally celebrated tradition, packed with handcrafted treasures you won’t find anywhere else. This year? Some fun new twists. There’s a Fresh Flower and Plant Garden where you can build your own bouquet, and a Children’s Entrepreneurs Market featuring young creators showing off their skills. Plus, the Vintage Village returns with antique finds, repurposed goods, and vintage-inspired fashion. The featured artist, Kate Lucas, found her love for watercolor during the pandemic. Admission’s free (just pay for parking), and there’s live music, food trucks, a beer garden, and plenty for the kids. It’s happening all weekend—don’t miss it! We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.874.3200 for more info. We’ll be right back Break 2: GWINNETT FAIR STORY 4: Elderly woman dies after fire breaks out at Snellville home A heartbreaking Labor Day weekend in Snellville—an elderly woman lost her life after being rescued from her burning home, Gwinnett fire officials shared Tuesday. The fire broke out Sunday evening on Eastwood Drive. Neighbors called 911, reporting flames in the garage and smoke pouring from the crawlspace. They said the woman was trapped inside. Firefighters found her on the first floor, rushed her out to paramedics, but she passed away shortly after reaching the hospital. The fire started in the garage, though the cause remains unknown. Power lines were down, flames had spread fast, and by the time crews arrived, the garage was engulfed. STORY 5: State floating new rules for data centers The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) is shaking things up with new rules to restart reviews of data center projects. Why the pause? Back in July, they hit the brakes after environmental advocates raised red flags, saying these massive facilities—huge energy and water guzzlers—weren’t being scrutinized enough. The proposed rules? Developers would have to spill the details on energy and water usage. Big centers (300,000+ square feet in cities, 500,000+ in rural areas) would face stricter reviews. A public hearing’s set for Sept. 9 in Atlanta, with comments open until Sept. 12. Final decisions drop Nov. 20 in Savannah. We’ll be right back. T Meet my friends, Clay Travis and Buck Sexton! Toxic Empathy Exposed C&B give commentary on the Minneapolis shooting, where the attacker allegedly targeted Christian children and had “Kill Donald Trump” written on the weapon. The hosts argue this reflects a disturbing pattern of violence linked to transgender identity and mental illness, exacerbated by what they call “toxic empathy” and ideological coercion. Mary Margaret Olohan Mary Margaret Olohan, a White House correspondent for The Daily Wire, joins the show to discuss her reporting on Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who allegedly ignored warnings from Catholic and independent school leaders about threats to faith-based institutions. Despite meetings and requests for increased security funding, Walz took no action—while simultaneously promoting Minnesota as a “trans refuge” and signing legislation supporting gender-affirming care. Media Shields the Trans Shooter Updates on the tragic shooting at Annunciation Church in Minneapolis, where a trans-identifying shooter killed two children and wounded others. They analyze the shooter’s disturbing manifesto, which included anti-Trump messages, racial slurs, and references to past mass shooters. The hosts criticize mainstream media outlets like ABC News and CNN for downplaying the shooter’s motives and prioritizing pronoun correctness over truth, highlighting how legacy media shields Democrats from accountability. Virginia Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears The hour features a powerful interview with Virginia Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears, who outlines her campaign for governor. Sears touts Virginia’s economic success under Republican leadership—over 276,000 new jobs, a $10 billion surplus, and reduced regulations—and warns against her opponent Abigail Spanberger’s support for trans athletes in women’s sports, defunding police, and radical school policies. Sears calls for common-sense governance, parental rights, and law enforcement support. Emotional Blackmail Clay and Buck also explore the broader cultural impact of identity politics, arguing that the LGBTQ+ movement has been hijacked by trans activism. They urge gay Americans to speak out against radical gender ideology and reclaim their distinct identity. Listener emails and calls reinforce this message, including a heartfelt story from a mother whose son transitioned at 17, sparking a discussion on emotional blackmail, psychiatric influence, and family trauma. Join Jim and Greg for the Thursday 3 Martini Lunch as they dissect the horrific Minnesota shooting of kids at a Catholic church and school on Thursday. They're also glad to see that a Wisconsin judge will not get the charges dropped for helping an illegal alien escape from ICE, and they react to another weak move from Democrat Abigail Spanberger in the Virginia governor's race.First, they walk through the details of the Minneapolis shooting, how prominent Democrats sneered at the idea of praying for victims and their families and immediately called for gun control, and how this is another mass shooting perpetrated by a killer identifying as transgender.Next, they're glad a federal judge rejected the argument that Wisconsin judge Hannah Dugan should be immune from prosecution for helping an illegal alien escape from her courthouse. Dugan's lawyers say she should not be charged over doing her official duties. The judge overseeing the case wisely countered that helping someone avoid arrest or being served a warrant is not a duty that ought to win immunity for Dugan. Finally, they shake their heads as Democrat Abigail Spanberger steps on another rake in the Virginia governor's race. Now Spanberger says she will end the cooperation between the Virginia State Police and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agreed to by current governor Glenn Youngkin. The news also prompts them to take a closer look at the state of the race and the media's coverage of Spanberger. Please visit our great sponsors:Upgrade your skincare routine with Caldera Lab and see the difference.  Visit https://CalderaLab.com/3ML and use code 3ML at checkout for 20% off your first order.Feel the difference of an extraordinary night's sleep with Boll & Branch—get 15% off plus free shipping on your first set of sheets at https://www.BollandBranch.com/THREEMARTINI (exclusions apply). This Fall, save up to 50% on select plants at Fast Growing Trees—plus get an extra 15% off your first purchase with code MARTINI at https://www.Fast-Growing-Trees.com (limited time, terms apply).

Join Jim and Greg for the Friday 3 Martini Lunch as they discuss a New York court tossing the roughly half-billion dollar penalty imposed on President Trump in his civil trial, Gov. Newsom advancing his aggressive gerrymandering plan through the legislature, and a Virginia Democrat's racist protest sign targeting Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears.First, they applaud the New York appeals court for throwing out the staggering half-billion-dollar penalty levied against Trump over alleged asset overvaluation. While the civil judgment remains in place, the ruling delivers another humiliating setback for New York Attorney General Letitia James and Judge Arthur Engoron, who pursued the politically charged case.Next, they chronicle California Democrats easily passing Gov. Gavin Newsom's gerrymandering initiative through the lopsided California legislature. It now advances to a November ballot proposal. In addition, after polling originally showed Californians preferring to keep the independent redistricting commission by nearly 30 percentage points, Newsom's plan is now favored by California voters by more than 20 points. But that's coming from Newsom's pollster. Finally, they zero in on the Democrat activist in Virginia who protested GOP gubernatorial nominee Winsome Earle-Sears on Thursday. As Lt. Gov. Sears scolded Northern Virginia school districts for refusing to keep boys out of girls sports or girls private spaces, one lefty held a sign saying, "Hey Winsome, if trans can't share your bathroom, then blacks can't share my water fountain." The activist later insisted it was satire. Of course, the media is not ruining the woman's life. Jim and Greg discuss the appalling double standard in how the the media treat people on the left vs. the right. Please visit our great sponsors:Keep your skin looking and acting younger for longer.
