HeLIX Exploration PLC (AIM:HEX, OTCQB:HHEXF) CEO Bo Sears talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the latest developments at the Rudyard Field, where the Inez #1 well has confirmed helium-bearing zones across a broader area. Sears explained that the logs from Inez #1 look identical to the earlier Linda #1 well, underlining the field's large aerial extent. Construction work on the Rudyard helium plant is also underway, marking a key step towards production. "The PSA is effectively finished. There's just some minor piping to be done," Sears said. He noted that once the concrete pad is completed, membrane units will be installed and the equipment will be moved onsite. These steps are expected to lead to the first helium production on schedule. Sears also highlighted how Helix aims to become Montana's first helium producer, supported by a strong local team and backing from the state. He emphasised that wire line logging is already complete, and well completion operations are underway. The next phase involves perforating the target zones to commence flow testing, which will help further de-risk the Rudyard project and define its production profile. #624: JL Collins doesn't know what the efficient frontier is. The author of "The Simple Path to Wealth" — the guy synonymous with VTSAX and chill — admits this right off the bat when we challenge him with advanced investing concepts. Collins joins us for Part 1 of a two-part series where we skip the basics and dive straight into the complex stuff. We grill him on whether his simple approach actually beats more sophisticated strategies, and his answer might surprise you. He concedes that Paul Merriman's four-fund portfolio probably outperforms his one-fund approach mathematically. But Collins argues that execution trumps optimization every time. Most people can't stick with complex strategies for 20 years, especially when those strategies require selling winners to buy losers – something that goes against human nature. Collins prioritizes what works in real life over what looks good on paper. He calls index funds "self-cleansing" because they automatically rotate out failing companies and sectors while rotating in the new winners. You don't need to predict which companies will dominate next – you'll own whatever rises to the top. The episode covers his thoughts on VTSAX versus VTI, international diversification, and why he'd rather put Tabasco than Cholula on his eggs — his quirky way of explaining personal preferences in nearly identical investment options. Today's show is the second in a mini-series on the changing face of business. On Friday's show we talked about how Google is keeping search traffic on the Google platform and is not sending organic search results to the source pages in the way it used to. Traffic to businesses is dramatically reduced. This will cause many businesses who relied largely upon organic search to either adapt to whatever will replace organic search, or they will face bankruptcy. This is also going to affect every aspect of retail. So much has been written about the retail apocalypse. There is no question that the footprint of traditional retail is changing. There is much less diversity in shopping experience today than when I was a teenager. In the US we had numerous department store chains including Bloomingdales, Macy's Sears, Kmart, Bergdorf Goodman, Filenes, Lord & Taylor, Neiman Marcus, JC Penny, Walmart Target Montgomery Ward, Ames, and countless others. Today, only a small fraction of those remain. We are all familiar with the e-commerce revolution and how Amazon and Walmart are increasingly dominating this space. Even major retailers including Home Depot and Best Buy have a larger online catalog with products that are only a couple of days away from your home. But the new revolution is in a form of shopping called social shopping. This has been in existence in China for more than 8 years and is still in experimental stages in the US on a limited basis with specific platforms. So what is social shopping? It is a method of e-commerce that integrates the social aspects of human interaction into the online shopping experience. It leverages social media platforms and online communities to facilitate the discovery, research, sharing, and purchasing of products and services. Think influencers. Think buying events. -----------**Real Estate Espresso Podcast:** Spotify: [The Real Estate Espresso Podcast](https://open.spotify.com/show/3GvtwRmTq4r3es8cbw8jW0?si=c75ea506a6694ef1) iTunes: [The Real Estate Espresso Podcast](https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-real-estate-espresso-podcast/id1340482613) Website: [www.victorjm.com](http://www.victorjm.com) LinkedIn: [Victor Menasce](http://www.linkedin.com/in/vmenasce) YouTube: [The Real Estate Espresso Podcast](http://www.youtube.com/@victorjmenasce6734) Facebook: [www.facebook.com/realestateespresso](http://www.facebook.com/realestateespresso) Email: [podcast@victorjm.com](mailto:podcast@victorjm.com) **Y Street Capital:** Website: [www.ystreetcapital.com](http://www.ystreetcapital.com) Facebook: [www.facebook.com/YStreetCapital](https://www.facebook.com/YStreetCapital) Instagram: [@ystreetcapital](http://www.instagram.com/ystreetcapital)

In our second hour, we play "The Best of the Sunday Shows" -- and begin to dissect the gubernatorial race between Abigail Spanberger and Winsome Earle-Sears.
In this special encore episode of The Voice of Retail, recorded live at the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, host Michael LeBlanc is joined by longtime Remarkable Retail #podcast collaborator and retail thought leader Steve Dennis to celebrate the launch of Steve's latest book, Leaders Leap: Transforming Your Company at the Speed of Disruption.Best known for his bestselling book Remarkable Retail, Steve steps outside the retail-specific lens to explore a broader question: Why do leaders and companies fail to transform—even when they know they must? Drawing on personal experiences at iconic retailers like Sears and Neiman Marcus, Steve shares how legacy mindsets, fear of risk, and "timid transformations" can doom even the most well-intentioned strategies. He recalls a pivotal moment at Sears when, after 18 months of strategic planning and board approval, a colleague remarked that the new plan was “not a strategy to win—just a strategy to suck less.”From there, the conversation dives into the key themes of Leaders Leap, including Steve's concept of “leadership mind leaps”—seven fundamental shifts that leaders must make to truly drive meaningful transformation. These include “Crush Your Ego,” “Open the Aperture,” “Edit to Amplify,” “Start with Wow,” “Think Radically,” “Embrace the Risk of Inaction,” and “Accelerate with Urgency.” Each leap challenges conventional leadership norms and encourages leaders to rethink their roles in the face of fast-paced disruption.Steve and Michael discuss why merely optimizing the business model isn't enough in an age defined by exponential change, and how legacy brands can learn from disruptors like Uber, Airbnb, and Netflix—companies that pivoted boldly and often. Using examples from RH (formerly Restoration Hardware) and Vuori, the episode highlights how focus, differentiation, and bold thinking can enable even established players to reinvent themselves. This episode is a masterclass in leadership transformation for retailers and executives across sectors. Whether you're a C-suite veteran, a team leader, or an entrepreneur navigating disruption, this conversation offers both strategic frameworks and personal insight that can help you leap forward, not fall behind. Michael LeBlanc is the president and founder of M.E. LeBlanc & Company Inc, a senior retail advisor, keynote speaker and now, media entrepreneur. He has been on the front lines of retail industry change for his entire career. Michael has delivered keynotes, hosted fire-side discussions and participated worldwide in thought leadership panels, most recently on the main stage in Toronto at Retail Council of Canada's Retail Marketing conference with leaders from Walmart & Google. He brings 25+ years of brand/retail/marketing & eCommerce leadership experience with Levi's, Black & Decker, Hudson's Bay, CanWest Media, Pandora Jewellery, The Shopping Channel and Retail Council of Canada to his advisory, speaking and media practice.Michael produces and hosts a network of leading retail trade podcasts, including the award-winning No.1 independent retail industry podcast in America, Remarkable Retail with his partner, Dallas-based best-selling author Steve Dennis; Canada's top retail industry podcast The Voice of Retail and Canada's top food industry and one of the top Canadian-produced management independent podcasts in the country, The Food Professor with Dr. Sylvain Charlebois from Dalhousie University in Halifax.Rethink Retail has recognized Michael as one of the top global retail experts for the fifth year in a row, the National Retail Federation has designated Michael as on their Top Retail Voices for 2025, Thinkers 360 has named him on of the Top 50 global thought leaders in retail, RTIH has named him a top 100 global though leader in retail technology and Coresight Research has named Michael a Retail AI Influencer. If you are a BBQ fan, you can tune into Michael's cooking show, Last Request BBQ, on YouTube, Instagram, X and yes, TikTok.Michael is available for keynote presentations helping retailers, brands and retail industry insiders explaining the current state and future of the retail industry in North America and around the world.
If “course management” were a hole on a golf course, it'd be the longest and most hazard-plagued, trap-filled hole you'd ever play — and you'd need two course junkies to advise you along the way. Luckily, we have the just the right ones in lifelong course executives David Delsandro and Jeff Corcoran. Delsandro's career in the turf industry has spanned 25 years, most recently as the superintendent at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania. His experiences include all types of conventional golf course construction projects, as well as large-scale site development, earth moving, utility relocation/installation, and building construction. He has worked with several leading golf architectural firms, including Fazio Design, Coore & Crenshaw, and Hanse Golf Design. Delsandro has successfully prepared for, hosted, and restored venues for four national championships, including two U.S. Opens. Corcoran has been a golf course superintendent for more than 20 years. He landed his first head superintendent job at The Weston Golf Club, outside of Boston, and he has been the director of agronomy at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York, since 2003. During his tenure at Oak Hill, he hosted two PGA Championships and two Senior PGA Championships. In 2019, Corcoran worked in conjunction with architect Andrew Green to renovate Oak Hill's East Course. Corcoran has been responsible for placing 10 assistant superintendents into superintendent roles. They partnered last year to form Agronomic Advisors, a consulting company focused on providing a diverse, comprehensive suite of solutions to the golf course industry. In this episode, Delsandro and Corcoran look back fondly on the golf course as their babysitter, share the lessons they learned as leaders at premier venues, and advise today's superintendents on leadership approaches in a changing industry. Your Club Selection Changes with Age, so Should Your Leadership Approach Most of us need to adjust our club selection as we age in order to hit the ball as far as we once did. The clubs we grabbed as teens, such as the self-described junkies Delsandro and Corcoran once were, won't make the cut after we make the turn in the game of life. Neither will the same approach to managing a department in a golf club nor leading a large capital project. Know when and how to adapt. “When you're younger, and you're trying to prove yourself at this particular level, as a superintendent, your bandwidth for people that fall outside of those realms that you that you live in is pretty narrow,” Corcoran said. “I remember telling guys, ‘You don't want to work till 7 o'clock tonight on Friday? You're not dedicated enough. You've only worked 21 days in a row and you want a day off? You're not dedicated enough.' “That sounds awful now.” Recognize that it takes all kinds of individuals to build a team and have a culture of success. Labor Market Management The labor market in the industry has changed significantly in recent years, and that's not just a problem for superintendents at local community golf venues. Leaders at the premier clubs face the same challenges, particularly when weighed against the facts that member expectations are not changing, nor are members willing to pay more for a stagnant experience. Talk about shifting winds on the dogleg. “The light-bulb moment for me was… I can either expect the labor market to change to meet the needs of one corporation or the upper echelon of one industry, or duh, realistically, we have to change to meet the labor market,” Delsandro said. Get as many outside perspectives, including those from outside the golf industry, as possible, and see what makes sense to apply as you manage a team at your course. Enjoy this episode of Leadership on the Links with David Delsandro and Jeff Corcoran! Quotes “The golf course was like my babysitter for the most part. My parents had to work. They just dropped me off, went to work, and they'd pick me up when it got dark out.” —Jeff Corcoran “I started working at the local public golf course when I was 15 just to get free golf. I thought I was going to work in the pro shop. I showed up on my first day with pressed khakis and a Sears, three-button Polo shirt, but at 9 a.m. I had some 60-year-old guy holding my ankles hanging over an irrigation ditch, covered in mud.” —David Delsandro “The labor market is such that there aren't as many individuals that are as motivated as there [used to be], if I'm being very open and honest about that.” —Jeff Corcoran “You soon learn that you don't know everything, and you need some help. You need people to see some stuff outside of the box and bring in consultants or industry professionals.” —Jeff Corcoran “There comes a point — and we've all been there, whether it's your first intendent's job or a new superintendent job at a different venue — that there's the realization that happens when you're like, ‘OK, I'm the guy now. Every decision that I make has consequences.' And it's more that you're not trying to succeed, you're just trying not to fail.” —David Delsandro “We've found that helping a new superintendent or a superintendent at a new venue has been some of the most rewarding work that we've done, because we're able to serve the person who we used to be; to help them succeed by avoiding mistakes that we made.” —David Delsandro Links mentioned in this episode: Bloom Golf Partners: https://bloomgolfpartners.com/ Agronomic Advisors: https://agro-advisors.com/ Connect with David on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/david-delsandro-5071692a6/ Connect with Jeff on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeff-corcoran-5681092a6/ Follow Agronomic Advisors on X: https://x.com/agro_advisors23

Interview with Bo Sears, CEO of Helix ExplorationOur previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/helix-exploration-lsehex-strategic-producer-targets-us-helium-supply-gap-6513Recording date: 18th June, 2025Helix Exploration presents a compelling investment opportunity as a self-funded helium producer positioned to begin commercial production by end of summer 2025. CEO Bo Sears leads a company with 355 million cubic feet of recoverable helium reserves in Montana's Rudyard Field, demonstrating a perfect drilling success rate with three productive wells from three attempts. The company's processing plant is two-thirds complete with critical membrane units arriving from Europe, positioning Helix to capitalize on helium's unique market characteristics where "there is no substitute for most of helium's applications by virtue of its atomic properties," as Sears explains.Unlike typical resource companies requiring continuous equity raises, Helix maintains a self-funding growth model that eliminates dilution risk while providing operational flexibility. The company projects $4 million gross annual revenue per well at $500 per thousand cubic feet helium pricing, with substantial margins driven by efficient drilling operations and low variable costs primarily related to compression power. This economic model supports organic expansion through cash flow generation rather than dilutive financing, a significant advantage in today's challenging capital markets. The strategic value of North American helium production has increased due to geopolitical tensions affecting major supply sources. With ongoing conflicts near Qatar's North Pars Field, US-based production offers supply security that supports long-term pricing stability. Helium's applications span from MRI machines to semiconductor manufacturing, creating inelastic demand that provides pricing power unavailable in substitutable commodities. As Sears notes, "you can't replace helium with hydrogen for obvious purposes. Think Hindenburg, right? On up the food chain to the MRI machines and the semiconductor manufacturing, there is no other element that can do what Helium does."Helix demonstrates operational excellence through strategic well spacing that allows one well to drain an entire square mile section, minimizing development costs while maximizing recovery. The company's partnerships with established operators Wacoda and Treasure State Drilling provide operational expertise while maintaining cost control. Infrastructure advantages include reliable power access, excellent road networks, and proximity to end markets, with a gathering system design that allows efficient integration of additional wells as production scales.Traditional exploration risks have been substantially reduced through proven reserves, successful drilling results, and an immediate production timeline. Management's 25+ years of industry experience and focus on operational benchmarks differentiate Helix from competitors facing execution challenges. The combination of immediate production timeline, self-funded growth capability, proven reserves, and exposure to a strategic commodity with inelastic demand creates a unique value proposition for investors seeking commodity exposure with limited downside and substantial upside potential in an essential but underappreciated sector.—Learn more: www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/helix-explorationSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com
SHOW CLIP 1 MIN Chickens To Market WAY TOO FAST WHY? Al Sears MD by Kate Dalley
It's not every day you get to Zoom with Martha Stewart — the original influencer long before Instagram was even a thing. I was honored to be able to hear her speak this week through the Entrepreneurs Organization sharing her wisdom. She is so inspiring! Did you know she is 83-years-old? Whaaaaat??? I recently watched her Netflix documentary, which gave me a whole new level of respect for her legacy. Here were some key takeaways: ✅ One of the only female stockbrokers on Wall Street in the 1960s ✅ A self-made lifestyle empire ✅ And a masterclass in reinvention after public scrutiny Can you even imagine being a female on Wall Street in the 60s? She rocked at it too! Hearing her speak live was equal parts wisdom, wit, and wow. Here are a few of my favorite quotes from her from the event: 1️⃣ “Authenticity is the key to a successful personal brand.” 2️⃣ “My association with Snoop is invaluable. It's expanded my demographic.” 3️⃣ “We are all individuals. We all have a job to do, and we get on with our day.” (On navigating male-dominated spaces) 4️⃣ “Sears was the original Amazon. They just didn't know how to capitalize on it like Jeff Bezos.” 5️⃣How does she handle scrutiny? “Ignore it. If they criticize one selfie, take another!” 6️⃣ “I had $1.6 billion I could've spent on Madison Avenue. Instead, I went to work.” At age 83, Martha is still creating, innovating, and unapologetically herself. What an inspiration to women everywhere! I can only hope to still be inspiring at that age! I share more about Martha's journey on the latest episode of the DO IT MY WAY Podcast!
Retail executive Ramon Marquez can point to virtually every store in a shopping mall and explain how he helped that brand grow. With a passion for retail dating back to his childhood, he's built a career as a leader in merchandising, product management and retail operations for major retailers like JCPenney, Abercrombie & Fitch, Old Navy, and is now shaping the future of Kmart and Sears. As a newly minted MBA graduate, Ramon gained not only a degree from Rice, but also a meaningful board appointment with Panama-based company, Effluz. After working with Effluz on his Global Field Experience, Ramon remained close with the company, which was founded by Taylin Luzcando and specializes in premature baby clothing and accessories. Ramon and Taylin join co-host Brian Jackson '21 to chat about Ramon's career journey from his grandfather's general store in Mexico to the C-suite of some of the biggest global retailers, as well as why he decided to pursue an MBA at Rice and how he's made an impact at Effluz. Founder Taylin also shares the personal origins of Effluz and why entrepreneurs should jump at the chance to partner with Rice's Global Field Experience program. Episode Guide:01:41 Ramon's Early Career and Rise in Retail06:05 Leadership and Adaptability in Retail07:41 Pursuing an MBA at Rice Business10:52 Joining the Board of a Panamanian Startup13:34 Insights on Retail and Future Plans21:03 Personal Life and Community Involvement26:10 Meet Taylin Luzcando, founder of Effluz31:11 Taylin's Experience with Rice's Global Field Experience ProgramOwl Have You Know is a production of Rice Business and is produced by University FM.Episode Quotes:How one class changed Ramon's path19:14: [Ramon Marquez] Towards the end of the MBA... and one of the very last classes I took was Life of Meaning. It's an entrepreneurship lab. And what that class does is that it takes a look at where you want to be and how you fill the gap. And we did a lot of frameworks that helped me map out what is next. So, there were a lot of great things that came out of it. One was that I really didn't have a plan in writing or a roadmap to where I want to land. In the class, part of the frameworks will get you back to, like, what are you passionate about? What is it that you wanted to do when you were a kid? What are the things that you don't want to be left undone? And it helped me realize that, you know, there's an entrepreneurial side of me that I have never explored. Why Ramon says passion for your job matter14:37: [Ramon Marquez] I encourage everyone, whatever you do, position yourself in a place where you love it, that you're so intrigued and so inquisitive and so passionate. And a lot of people come to me and say, you know, “How do you get your job?” And I say, “Well, you have to be interested and passionate about retail. If you're not, don't get my job, because then it's too much pressure. It's too hectic. It's too fast. It's too vulnerable. It's too difficult right now. Retail is really difficult.” But if you think about the fact that, you know, merchants have been around for thousands of years and commerce has existed from the beginning of time, retail's not going to go away. It's just the way that we will get to know what it's like. And for that, I don't have the answer, in case you were wondering.Show Links: TranscriptGuest Profiles:Ramon Marquez | LinkedInTaylin Luzcando | LinkedInEffluz

The main event is finally here. And it's the pinnacle of one of the greatest Star Wars collectors weekends ever. In May of 2024, 200 collectors traveled to Kennesaw, Georgia for Rogue Fun, a multi-day Star Wars trip centering on collecting and connecting. And on Saturday, May the Fourth, the Georgia Alliance hosted a 7-hour ballroom event, featuring dinner, room sales and five incredible Star Wars-themed panel presentations. The panels covered the history of Star Wars and the Sears holiday catalogs, two legendary action figure customizers, the artist who introduced Boba Fett to the world in 1978, and Steve Sansweet and the authors of two of the most iconic books about collectibles. And the presentations ended with a wildly funny and insightful chat with two former Kenner creatives who worked on the Kenner line and helped design some of the most beloved Star Wars figures and playsets. The evening concluded with every collector's dream: an epic room sales event in the ballroom. From Kenner to Hasbro, and from prototypes and production pieces, the event had enough Star Wars items for sale to fill an entire store! Join host David Quinn for an in-depth look at day three of the memorable Rogue Fun weekend. Featuring live moments and stories from Star Wars fans and collectors Rich Alot, Howard Bollinger, Lewis Brown, John Celestri, Tim Effler, Matt Fox, Jerry Hancock, Josie Harmon, Paul Harrison, Don Henderson, Erik Janniche, Bruce Lieberman, Jonathan McElwain, Doug Meyer, Maggie Moore, Shawn Moynihan, Narayan S. Naik, Steven J. Sansweet, Barry Scott, Ryan Shaw, Jason Smith, Tim Theall, Mike Tricomi, Vinny Tricomi, Jason Wasulko, Shannon Wasulko, Gary Ray Weaver, Glen Williams and many more! It was just two days before Christmas in 1974 in Fort Worth, Texas, a time usually filled with holiday cheer and last-minute shopping rushes. Seventeen-year-old Rachel Trlica, 14-year-old Renee Wilson, and 9-year-old Julie Ann Moseley headed to the bustling Seminary South Shopping Center with plans to pick up gifts and be home in time for holiday parties. They parked the car, ready for an afternoon of shopping. But as the hours ticked by, the girls never returned. When worried family members arrived at the mall that evening, a chilling scene awaited them: the girls' car was found abandoned in the parking lot, but Rachel, Renee, and Julie were gone.Fifty years later, the disappearance of the Fort Worth Trio remains one of Texas's most inexplicable cold cases. How could three girls, ranging in age from a teenager to a young child, vanish without a trace from a public place on a busy day? Despite thousands of leads, extensive searches, and heartbreaking decades of waiting, the mystery endures.Check out Gone Cold Podcast episodes on the case, presented from December 2020 through January 2021.If you are interested in bonus content for our show or in getting some Coffee and Cases swag, please consider joining Patreon. HBO is back in the name! Too bad the Game of Thrones spin off is delayed. James Gunn's new Superman trailer is out - it made Sarah cry. Plenty of great content is being renewed: Tina Fey's ‘Four Seasons' and ‘The Diplomat,' meanwhile Netflix is rebooting ‘Star Search' - and they say it will be LIVE. Great news for Jelly Roll: He's going to England! Plus, Screen time is a long winded fight with your kids, college is the new Sears, and Oreos are vegan… but not healthy.
