In November 2021, the SIX Group issued a CHF 150 million bond onto its own exchange and into its own central securities depository (CSD). Nothing remarkable about that, you might think. Except that the securities became the first digital bond to be freely issued into a regulated environment. More remarkable still is that a majority of investors, offered a choice of the bonds in tokenised or traditional form, opted for the tokenised variety. Creating that choice required considerable operational ingenuity. The digital bonds are listed and traded on the digital asset exchange of SIX Group (SDX) and issued into the digital CSD of SDX, while the traditional bonds are listed and traded on the traditional SIX Swiss Exchange and centrally held by the traditional CSD (SIX SIS). The challenges – in terms of maintaining a register of investors, paying entitlements, enabling investors to switch between the two forms of the bond and maintaining a liquid market – are not hard to guess. He has previously worked at SIX Group and Unicorn Labs, and holds a master's in Electrical Engineering from ETH. Igor grew up on a riding stable, where he spent much of his time helping out his parents. He had to fight tooth and nail for his first computer, and struggled with his family's expectations for his future career. It was at ETH that he first came into contact with the field of machine learning. After finishing his master's, he co-founded Lightly (originally called Mirage/What To Label), which aimed to make the machine learning process for autonomously driving cars more efficient and human. Several things went wrong at first: - He mismanaged his team: Igor did not take care to discuss either the expectations or the roles of everyone in the team early on, and then when they finally did, it was extremely hard to make everyone happy. - He became obsessed with the success of the company and neglected his interpersonal relationships. A loved one died during this period of Igor's life, and he feels he did not spend enough time with this person in their final days. Nowadays he calls his family every second day. - He understood success as completely dependent on other people's perception of him and his team. He changed his business model too hastily based on external feedback. There was even a time when, having run out of money, Igor found himself having to flip cars in order to support himself and his project. But thankfully, there was no difficulty too great for Igor to overcome, and nowadays Lightly is back on track and has in fact just been accepted to a very famous accelerator (more details to follow soon). #043 - If there ever was a mold for success in real estate,  Abe Covella didn't get the memo.  He comes from a very different background and never intended to be a Realtor, yet he has achieved success at the highest of heights!   Learn how he did it and how you can too! Abram (“Abe”) Covella is co-founder of two real estate companies - the Ocean's Six Group and RE/MAX Revolution. With nearly two decades of experience assisting clients in the buying and selling of residential properties, Abe can safely be called an expert in real estate. Abe never intended to be a real estate agent in the first place. Rather than real estate, Abe's first choice for a career was computer science. He had been moving toward that career too, earning an Associate's Degree in computer science and then enrolling for further study at Brick Computer Science Institute. Everything was going as planned until Abe took a job as an email administrator at a real estate brokerage. He initially saw the job as a way of supporting himself and paying for his education. But after a few months, it was clear to Abe that he'd found his true calling. Inspired by real estate, Abe worked his way up through the ranks at his brokerage.
