Bill Bailey stars as Guy Starling, a middle aged man who, after 45 years, and for reasons quite unknown to him, is suddenly revisited by his imaginary childhood friend, Hennikay. When Guy's great business idea – developing a phone-based app designed to stop people using phone based apps – unsurprisingly fails, he needs to find a job. And so he attends a sales seminar with Shining Path, who are apparently, "the number one providers of after-life finance packages in the UK".However, his attention is constantly derailed by the constant chatter of Hennikay, his imaginary childhood friend, who is still determinedly living in his head. And if that wasn't enough, he also has to cope with Tony, his old boss, who is also there, competing with him to land a job.But try as he might, Guy really can't get enthused by the idea of a career selling pre-paid funeral plans to the people of Maidstone. Was this what he thought his life was going to be, when he and Hennikay were young together, way back in 1976?Acclaimed comedian - and Strictly Come Dancing champion - Bill Bailey leads a series cast which includes Tony Gardner and Elizabeth Carling in this warm, funny look at childhood, adulthood and some of the follies of modern life, where a man with a confused child in his head might just be the sanest person in the room.Written by David SpicerGuy: Bill Bailey Hennikay: Max Lester Tony: Tony Gardner Stacia: Rebecca BoeyProducer: Liz Anstee A CPL production for BBC Radio 4

They're back from the grave and ready to party… again. The cult classic ‘The Return of the Living Dead' has been highly revered by horror fans for almost four decades. Celebrating its 40th Anniversary next year, DRagon Studios now presents a new feature film from The Return of the Living Dead Universe titled, ‘Trash's Revenge'. Trash, an iconic character made famous by Linnea Quigley, the iconic 80's scream queen known for her roles in ‘Night of the Demons', ‘Creepozoids', and ‘Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers', is back. If that wasn't exciting enough, joining Linnea Quigley are original cast members Beverly Randolph, Thom Mathews, John Philbin, Drew Deighan, and Miguel Nunez. The project will also feature the talents of composer Francis Haines and makeup artist Tony Gardner. It's all very exciting and very much needed when you consider the mess the franchise ended up in with poor sequel after poor sequel. Alas, as of the time of this interview, those involved in trying to make Trash's Revenge a reality has discovered that, according to a statement put out, a company called Living Dead Media had illegitimately claimed copyright ownership and had been profiting from The Return of the Living Dead for the last 10 years without paying any royalties to the cast. This has resulted in the campaign being temporarily halted while this issue is sorted out. Trash's Revenge is not going away, we just need to be patient. This issue is something we discuss in this interview with Linnea, while also digging into the guts of Trash's Revenge, talking about the iconic original film, and even touching upon other areas of Linnea's incredible career to date. Once the campaign is live, fans and supporters can help make it a reality, here. The original cast and their drive to recoup what is rightfully theirs can be supported here. LIVING WITH CHUCKY is Kyra Elise Gardner's documentary detailing not only the history of the CHILD'S PLAY horror franchise (about a serial killer who possesses a doll via voodoo to keep from dying, and if you think that's weird, that's the tip of the iceberg) but also celebrating the families, both biological and found, who've bonded through the fulfilling yet arduous experiences of making these goofy counterculture masterpieces. Yeah, I said it: masterpieces. @ me if you must. 25-year-old Kyra Gardner is the daughter of animatronics, special effects, producer and makeup guru Tony Gardner, who entered the franchise with 2004's SEED OF CHUCKY and has remained ever since. She's grown up with Chucky dolls littered about her house and her dad gone for weeks, sometimes months, at a time to work on these films. So in a way, this documentary is a way for her to stitch together parts of her childhood and formally introduce herself to the people who've impacted her life so greatly for so many years. It's part horror franchise history, part family therapy, and all a joyful example of how art inspires and bonds us weirdos together. --------------------------- Closing Song: "Generator" - Foo Fighters --------------------------- Review THE MOVIES on Apple Podcasts & I'll read it on the next episode! --------------------------- Follow Daniel on: Twitter - @TheMovies_Pod Instagram - @themoviespod Letterboxd - https://letterboxd.com/Daniel_Berrios/ --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/themoviespodcast/message

In 2017, Andy Barclay has been torturing the disembodied head of Chucky for four years. Meanwhile, wheelchair-bound Nica Pierce has been in a mental institution after being framed by Chucky for the murders of her family. Nica now believes she was responsible for the murders and that Chucky was a manifestation of her psychosis. Dr. Foley, Nica's doctor, has her transferred to a medium-security psychiatric hospital. In group therapy, Nica meets Malcolm, a man with multiple-identity disorder; Angela, a woman who believes she is dead; Claire, a woman who burned her house down; and Madeleine, a patient who smothered her infant son. Foley introduces a therapy technique involving a Good Guy doll. Most of the patients are unsettled except for Madeleine, who treats it as her baby. Nica is visited by Tiffany Valentine, the legal guardian of her niece Alice, and is devastated to learn that Alice has died. Tiffany leaves Nica a Good Guy doll, which she claims was a gift from Alice. That night, Chucky awakens and discovers Nica has slit her wrists. The next morning, Nica finds that her wrists have been stitched up and that Angela has been killed. After realizing "Valentine" was the last name of Chucky's girlfriend, Nica realizes Chucky is real. Fearing Madeleine is in danger, Nica has Malcolm warn her. Madeleine throws both the doll and Malcolm into an empty grave, but they are rescued by orderlies. Malcolm begins to refer to himself as "Charles" and act in a manner similar to Chucky, making Nica suspect he has been possessed. Chucky then kills Claire by decapitating her. By February 2015, Mancini was in the process of writing the script for the film. A year later, Mancini, Jennifer Tilly and Fiona Dourif confirmed that shooting would soon begin for the film. The production office for the film was opened in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in December 2016. Subsequently in January 5, the premise, cast, production schedule and distribution details for Cult of Chucky were revealed, with shooting set to commence four days later. Tony Gardner returned as one of Chucky's puppeteers. In an October 2013 interview, Mancini revealed that since Child's Play 3, he had always wanted to introduce the concept of "Multiple Chuckys" but was unable to do so due to budget constraints. He eventually used the concept in Cult of Chucky, 26 years later. A reference to Glen/Glenda (a character from Seed of Chucky) was cut out of the film, although it was something that Mancini "definitely wanted to keep". Chucky then kills Claire by decapitating her.Andy learns about the murders and realizes Chucky has somehow managed to transfer his soul into multiple bodies at once.Follow the Complete Guide to Horror Movies podcast on our social channels below.↪ Facebook↪ TikTok↪ Twitter↪ Instagram↪ Subscribe to our YouTube channel↪ Tip us $5↪ LinktreeIn December 2013, following the release of Curse of Chucky, Don Mancini confirmed that he was planning on developing a seventh installment in the Chucky franchise. A reference to Glen/Glenda (a character from Seed of Chucky) was cut out of the film, although it was something that Mancini "definitely wanted to keep".The film received a nomination for Best DVD or Blu-ray Release at the 44th Saturn Awards and is followed by the Chucky television series, released in 2021.#horror #movie #death #horrorfilm #splatter #deathscene #blood #gore #scarymovie #horror #completeguidetohorror #horrormovie #scary #creepy #graphic #gay #lgbt #chucky #charlesleeray #andybarclay #donmancini #braddourif #childsplay #gayhorror #cultofchucky #nicapierce #curseofchucky #tiffany #tiffanydoll #jennifertilly #xtina #yourbody #christinaaguilera #glitch #goodguys #fionadourif #television #canadasdragrace #jimbothedragclown

If the US is – in the words of former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright – the "indispensible nation" then the economic, democratic and institutional alliance between the US and the EU is the “essential partnership”. So argues Tony Gardner, Barack Obama’s ambassador to the EU and advisor to Joe Biden’s campaign for president in his new book Stars with Stripes: The Essential Partnership between the European Union and the United States (Palgrave Macmillan, 2020), The EU-US partnership has its frustrations and failings, he writes, but has quietly delivered on trade liberalization, data management, defense and law enforcement, leverage against Russia and Iran, and energy security. If Biden wins in November, these joint projects will be expanded and the fight against climate change brought to the forefront but “time will be short and pressure will be really high” to prove that working with allies achieves more than unilateralism. You can find their show at https://nrqpodcast.com/ (Re)written and directed by the late and great, Dan O'Bannon (Alien, Dark Star, Lifeforce). The film is loosely based on John Russo's novel of the same name, following his falling out with George A. Romero, with whom he worked on Night of the Living Dead. The film features great performances by veteran character actors Clu Gulager, James Karen, and Don Calfa. The film also features several actors, who were fledgling talents at the time: Thom Matthews, Miguel A. Núñez Jr., and Mark Venturini (all of whom worked on the Friday the 13th Franchise). The illustrious, Linnea Quigley, steals the show as "Trash." Nevermind the prosthetic genitalia and the fact that she is the only zombie to cosplay as a demon, her performance is great and we will not entertain any debate otherwise. The practical effects and puppetry on the film are the things of legend. Allan Trautman played the now infamous Tarman or Barrel Zombie. His work included Muppets Tonight, Unhappily Ever After, Greg the Bunny, and Monkeybone. Tony Gardner, who would go on to do makeup effects for Hellboy and Zombieland, made the half zombie. He was also in the Thriller music video by Michael Jackson! This week's "Hidden Track" is by Ill Fortune. In fact, after listening back to this, we are convinced this will have massive implications for his career. Filmmaker Kyra Gardner may have only just graduated film school a few months ago but she's already one of the best examples we know of an emerging young talent making huge strides in the world of cinema today! From trying to decide between a career as a veterinarian or an army nurse and instead choosing filmmaking as her calling… to observing her father at work on sets (Tony Gardner is an FX legend – check out our conversation with him in Ep 246)… to having her first short film selected for the 39th Cleveland International Film Festival at age 16 (the youngest participant ever!)… to having her short form documentary THE DOLLHOUSE acquired by Universal Studios for inclusion on the CULT OF CHUCKY home video (she was only 19!)... to winning a DGA Student Award at age 22 for her latest short film PHOEBE… at just 22 years old Kyra's list of accomplishments is enough to motivate anyone looking to pick up a camera! Dr. Arwen provides “Hollywood Therapy” to a patient who is worried that his life may have passed him by as well as a filmmaker ready to secure distribution for his series while Joe stays in bed with the flu just like “Cameron” in FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF (“let my Cameron go…”) in this wicked inspiring episode.
