Establishing a consistent exercise routine is the key to long-term fitness success. Starting with simple habits like daily 20-minute walks can create a solid foundation for physical health. Over time, gradually increasing intensity, duration, or incorporating bodyweight exercises can help build strength and endurance. Prioritizing time for movement in your schedule ensures consistency, which is far more effective than aiming for perfection right away.Proper form is essential to prevent injury and maximize results. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced gym-goer, seeking guidance from a trainer or workout partner can ensure exercises are performed correctly. Consistency in showing up, even for light workouts, is more important than intensity, as it builds momentum toward better health and wellness.Highlights of the Podcast00:04 - Introduction01:11 - Building Habits Over Distance02:24 - Progressive Workouts03:27 - Prioritizing Time for Health04:54 - Form Over Intensity06:06 - Accountability and Spotting07:25 - Consistency Beats Perfection08:42 - Relearning Correct Techniques09:50 - Learning from Experts11:16 - Upcoming Podcasts and Resources

We will be talking about the importance of taking a break for a reset, including the why, when and how to spend that time. What inputs to consider in your strategy for next season, how to take that strategy and turn it into a plan, and how to create habits that allow you to execute that plan in 2025. Join 303Triathlon for an informative webinar on taking time to reflect, recharge and RESET. Join Zoom Meeting https://us06web.zoom.us/j/84235253123... Meeting ID: 842 3525 3123 Passcode: 508467 Upcoming Podcasts in November - Stay with us throughout the month of November as we unpack the Transition Season. Last week we kicked things off with the why, when, what and how of taking an end of season reset. This week we are discussing how to strategize for next season. Next week we discuss how to create your 2025 season plan and we'll wrap up the month with how to develop the habits that lead to goal achievement. We also have 6X IM World Champion Coach Mark Allen joining us later this month to share his insights on this very important time of the year. Ask A Coach: #463 - Recap of the RESET discussion last week Why It's Important to Take a Short Break? Continuous training without a break can lead to burnout, overuse injuries, and diminished performance. Your body needs time to repair the micro-damage caused by intense workouts, while your mind requires a chance to rejuvenate. This period of rest not only prevents chronic fatigue but also sets the stage for future gains. When to Take It? The best time for a break is right after your last race of the season. Your performance has peaked, and pushing further can result in diminishing returns. Listen to your body and give yourself permission to step back. How Long to Take It? A break of 2-4 weeks is ideal. This length of time allows for sufficient physical and mental recovery without compromising fitness. It strikes a balance between rest and staying active enough to avoid becoming sedentary. What to Do / Not Do During this break? Engage in low-intensity activities like yoga, walking, or leisurely swimming. Avoid high-intensity workouts that can stress your body. Focus on hobbies, spend time with loved ones, and enjoy the simple pleasure of movement without the pressure of performance. Reflection - What went well? What could be improved? Envision your goals for the next season. This process of reflection helps in setting more informed and achievable targets. April - I'll add here too that getting a list of good reflection questions makes all the difference. Sometimes the difference between good and GREAT results and making meaning is asking a powerful question, so here's a list of thought-provoking questions I recommend adding to your repertoire: What is my "why"? Why am I dedicating a significant portion of time, money, and energy to this training? What is the deeper motivation driving my training? Is it personal growth, the challenge, the community, or something else? Understanding your "why" can help you stay focused and consistent, especially during tough training sessions and months of training and racing. What are my biggest weaknesses in each discipline? While it's important to focus on strengths, identifying weaknesses can help you target specific areas for improvement. Are you a strong swimmer but a weak cyclist? Or perhaps your running form needs more technical work? How can I manage training with other life priorities? When do you need to prioritize training and when can you counterbalance the other areas of your life: family, work, business, vacation time, and rest. What is my ideal race day experience? Envisioning your ideal race day can help you set specific goals and develop a race strategy. What does it look like to feel confident, strong, and energized on race day? How can I use my past experiences to inform my future training and racing? Reflect on your past races and training seasons. What worked well? What didn't? By learning from your experiences, you can make informed decisions about your future training and racing. By pondering these questions, you can gain valuable insights into your motivations, goals, and training strategies. Update or Create Values Inventory or Personal Mission Statement Revisit your core values and personal mission statement. This is a powerful exercise in aligning your training and life goals with your personal values. #464 - STRATEGIZE Personal SWOT - Take 30 minutes to make a list of your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to your training and racing goals. This will give you a foundation for creating a blueprint for next year. Your SWOT will be unique to you, which means what it reveals in terms of your April - I'll share my personal SWOT experience here and what I learned. Priorities and Commitments - Life is a balancing act and we all have commitments and priorities that need to be taken into account. What are those big rock priorities for you? What commitments are already in place or pending for next year? Go back to your SWOT and look at the Risks and Threats, you may find there are priorities and commitments. Inspirations and Risks - Listen to your heart. I recently heard an athlete say, I'm considering Boulder 70.3 and Galveston 70.3. I'd really love to race in Boulder but the altitude scares me and I'm not sure I can prepare for it. If you have a race that inspires you, it will fuel your drive. By carefully strategizing, planning for the challenge and putting in place the habits to execute your training - you'll be ready! You Support Team - Who's in your corner? Who's support do you need? Share your goals with your spouse or partner, your parents or kids, your boss. Let them know and let them know how you plan to balance your commitments and what you need from them. Invite them to be on your journey, follow you on social media, invite them to your races. You communicating with them will build your support and help you identify any hidden risks or undiscovered commitments. Budget Talk to your accountant and your spouse now. Let them know what races you want to do, what equipment you need to do those races, what nutrition and other expenditures like travel, etc. To have longevity in the sport and marriage, don't commit to anything you can't afford. Next week in episode #465 we will give you a blueprint for how to put together your 2025 Race Plan. 303Triathlon News and Updates: T100 Triathlon Pro & Age-Group Triathlon Events | T100 Triathlon Dubai T100 Pro Series Championship November 16th Watch free on PTO+ App Leaderboard T100 Triathlon World Tour Pro Racing | T100 Triathlon Local races are open for registration: Without Limits has opened their calendar and some of those races like Xterra Lory will sell out fast. Then a week later on May 27 we will publish "What Thinking & Feeling Really Do For Us." As I mention in this short audio - I can't wait to hear from you about the concepts we introduce in these 2 shows. There are many concerns and criticisms about the growth and building in and adjacent to La Plata. In response, I am preparing a series of podcasts beginning with La Plata Development Revisited - an update about development projects in the Town. My June 13 podcast, La Plata Planning Department's 2022 Annual Report, provides context about recent development trends. This will then be followed by separate podcast episodes about La Plata's infrastructure – water, sewer, and stormwater management, and how the town has planned for growth. The information source is from the Town's Director of Operations. I will note my opinion when appropriate as one of five Town Council members.References: La Plata Planning Department 2022 Annual Report Charles County Parks and Recreation, La Plata Farm Park draft planThis concludes this latest La Plata Town Council Ward 4 Update. I hope you find this podcast informative and useful. Let me know what you think. I look forward to your questions and comments. My email address is djenkins@townoflaplata.org Talk to you soon!

In this episode of The Resident Rulebreakers, we discuss episode 4x12 of The Resident, "Hope in the Unseen". Written by Dr. Daniela Lamas and Michael Notarile Directed by Rob Corn - This podcast is in honor of moms of all kind on this Mother's Day weekend. - Camille's Birthday is May 12th! Happy Birthday, Camille! In honor of Camille's birthday we wish for you to donate to https://www.giveindia.org/ to help India battle the crippling COVID-19 crisis, as well as in honor of AAPI Awareness month. - Emily's Birthday is also May 12th. We wish her a very happy birthday! - Episode Discussion: #CoNic and the spa day #CoNic help Pete get treatment for a vitamin C deficiency - and also get him surgery for his liver courtesy of Bell and Leela AJ yells at Leela in the OR - and she learns a lesson on how to release her frustration from Kit in the supply room. Also, Bell steps in as her temporary mentor. AJ also apologizes to Leela and gives her an olive branch - a major turning point on the episode. Kit's under strain from Marshall and the board to get the hospital's debt under control, but in the midst of it all she and Marshall save Phillip's company after his research shows promise in helping cure Rose. Rose's setback isn't what we expected and we are pleasantly surprised it's not the drug causing her issues. We also both relate to a time in our own pasts when a medical issue made us lose hope to see that there was a cure in sight. Also, who saw Cain as the person to get her to accept treatment?? AJ's mom's treatment - and we question if it's the best idea. Is prolonging her life in hope for a cure that currently doesn't exist something that should happen. Nonetheless, it's nice seeing AJ with his parents. Cain's mental block in the OR - and Billie covering for him again. When will he get the help he needs? Also - why isn't there a Conrad/Marshall scene - I mean his granddaughter is coming soon. It's a missed opportunity. - Upcoming Podcasts - May 17 - Episode 4x13 Discussion - "Finding Family" - May 24 - Episode 4x14 Discussion - "Past, Present, Future" - No word on renewal - but we are optimistic. Remember, we didn't get renewed for season 4 until after the finale last year. Spring upfronts are coming - so we should know more soon! - PATREON Want to help us keep growing the podcast? This week, Brittany returns to step in for Camille. She and Kayla discuss everything about episode 4x02 of The Resident, titled "Mina's Kangaroo Court". - Note: We recorded this podcast episode on January 17, 2021 - two days before it aired on Fox. We got to do this because Fox put it up early on Hulu. It's a rare opportunity when we get to do this, so we are cherishing it. *When we have guests, sometimes their opinions don't align with ours.* - 4x02 was written by Peter Elkhoff & Marqui Jackson. Directed by Rob Corn. - In this podcast: - Mina plays judge, jury and executioner on Cain and we agree with her verdict. He doesn't need to be practicing medicine anymore. He's broken his hypocritic oath many times over. - Mina tells the patient from 4x01 about Cain's unsavory past against AJ's wishes and the patient and his wife sue the hospital. We cheer Mina on for following her morals. - AJ notes he and Cain have a brotherhood as the only black, male surgeons in the hospital - which is why he's so reluctant to go after Cain. Mina reminds AJ she is Nigerian and that her experience with racism is different, which is why she has no hesitation doing what she did. - Minator take a break from the sexual aspect of their relationship, but not the relationship. They are still an item. Also we loved how unemotional their barganing was about how many nights they would be apart. - Conic enjoy newlywed life after returning from their honeymoon in Key West, Florida. Conrad thinks married sex is better and Nic still is having trouble calling Conrad her husband. - The big reveal of the episode - Conic are having a baby! They are getting their rainbow baby. We expect a not so easy pregnancy for Nic as she's had a miscarriage once before. We are going along for the ride to see how the show handles this plot. - Conrad and Devon treat a black, female congresswoman who is running in a special election for the governor of Georgia - who is also having an affair with her driver. A secret she doesn't want out there. However, Conrad assures her doctor/patient confidentiality prevents him from saying a word. It's a PSA from the writers to not lie to your doctor. - Devon is battling his grief over his dad and reveals to Conrad that his father could've survived had he been in a better hospital with more nurses. - Logan Kim is toast!! He's gone, but Conrad leaves him with words of wisdom that Kayla notes sound a lot like something her dad once told her. - Kit is trying to get the CEO position - but Red Rock isn't too keen on replacing Kim due to the hospital's finances. - Bell does a life reassesment and goes to find his former step son (played by Conrad Ricamora). Their reunion is very cold, but Bell realizes he may have had more influence on Jake than he thought since he became a plastic surgeon. He was worried about Jake's ability to support himself since Jake is also an amatuer musician. - Also, Kitdolph. They are so cute encouraging each other. - PATREON: Want to help us keep growing the podcast? Become a patron. Any dollar amount and cancel at anytime. Why Fargo Is So ImportantThis episode Ben Askren and Matt Dernlan recap Fargo Junior Nationals and Askren Wrestling Academy results. They discuss how much Junior Nationals has grown in the past 5 years. They attribute the growth to national media coverage and high-level coaching/training partners through Regional Training Centers. Askren talks about how Fargo is the only tournament where there is a true state team feeling. Dernlan expands on the life experience and memories gained by these kids getting into busses and airplanes and traveling as a team to a national tournament. It really brings states together as one and memories you’ll talk about for the rest of your life.Askren Wrestling Academy (17:45)Askren talks about AWA’s results at Fargo. He elaborates on his Mental Monday from this week about balance, knowing when you’re on the right track and staying the course. This comes after AWA representatives dropped three semifinals in a row on the junior side. On the flip side, they had nine All-Americans and 27 kids win three matches or more. Askren details all the data into spreadsheets in order to compare results from previous years and overall he is pleased with the results from this year and proud of his athletes.Phenomenal Talent (22:12)The first result Askren brings up is Angelo Rini from Ohio who ended up winning 14-4 in the finals. The match Askren was impressed by was his semifinal match against Wyatt Henson that ended up 23-13 in Rini’s favor. Rini was down 9-13 with 25 seconds to go in the second and was able to get come back and win big. Another match they dive into is the 182 lbs semifinal between AWA’s Parker Keckeisen and Dustin Plott where Askren feels the officials made a bad call with 53 seconds left in the first. Overall, Askren thinks 182 lbs was the bracket of the tournament. Another standout performance came from Padraic Gallagher who rolled through the tournament at 160 lbs. The last guy Askren brings up is Heavyweight Braxton Amos who dominated and didn’t allow a single point scored against him the entire tournament. Dernlan explains the complexities involved when evaluating 220 lbs wrestlers moving into college. Will they go down to 197 lbs or grow into heavyweight? How much is there physical maturity helping them at the high school level and how can you develop their skills to match the collegiate level they’ll have to face.Upcoming Podcasts (43:30)Askren talks about upcoming podcasts including Cadet Worlds and special guest Yianni Diakamihalis getting on the RUDIS Wrestling Podcast this week.Subscribe to the RUDIS newsletter here: https://therudis.com/my-account/
