LaToya's story is nothing short of inspiring, and in just five words - a storyteller, tenacious, persistent, a mentor, and a big thinker. LaToya's favorite quote, start Where You Are. Use What You Have. Do What You Can,' by Arthur Ashe, and from there we coined a new way of looking at life which is summed up as Creativity is free and now we refer to that as LaToyism. Her thoughts about Generative AI?  It is an exciting tool that also needs guardrails to protect people against bad behavior. Robots won't come and kill us. AI can make it impossible for people to have healthcare or a mortgage. We should embrace a quote that Walter Cronkite was infamous for “Trust but verify.” Hashtags: #iHeartRadio #ApplePodcasts #GooglePlay #Spotify #Stitcher #Podbean #YouTube #Employers4Change #E4C #internships #radio #podcast #innovation #employers #smallbusiness #business #FutureOfWork #ValenciaCollegeRadio

Welcome to Episode 15 of Quirky Cooking Chats (Season 2), with Jo Whitton: "Meal Planning to Use What You Have (& Save Money)". {Watch this video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/DARsGKLZ-rk} Get a peek into the veggie drawer in Jo's fridge, and find out how she plans her meals from the fresh produce she has on hand each week! Did you know that Australia is one of the worst countries in the world for food waste? Foodbank Australia says Australians waste 7.6 million tonnes of food each year, and 70% of that food was still edible!! Jo says, "I think it's really important to learn how to meal plan so that you're using what you have, rather than meal planning to recipes that you want to make. Otherwise you plan a great week of meals, go and buy all those ingredients and bring them home - you've got the best of intentions -you pop them all in the fridge and you're like, “I'm going to be so organised this week!!” Then by about Tuesday you kinda lose motivation, you're tired after work, you need a quick meal so you say “well I'm not making that one tonight, we'll just have something easy”, or you get takeaway, and little by little you sort of lose the plot, and then by the end of the week you've got a crisper full of soggy veggies and you give up, chuck them out and start again!" Sound familiar? It's really common to make the mistake of buying more than we need. Jo's trick is to check what she has on hand first, do a “fridge audit” before doing her meal planning, then she plans her meals for the week around that. Learn to ‘make do', use what you have, and reduce food waste in your home! Visit Quirky Cooking for more healthy eating and healthy lifestyle tips here: https://www.quirkycooking.com.au/

Achieve both form and function when you toss (recycle, of course) those mismatched boxes and decant your items into lovely clear containers!  Bonus points if you slap a helpful label on them!  This week, we're talking about decluttering all the spaces in your home, like your pantry, countertops, cabinets and more, and making them work better for you and your family.  Ditching the hodgepodge of branded packaging from your space and replacing them with the proper organization containers you can see through will save you time, money, and even your sanity! Listen to this episode to find out how, and share it with a friend so she gets to enjoy the benefits of form and function in her home too.  Highlights from this episode: {2:16} It's not just a pantry thing {5:13} Make your food beautiful to look at {7:47} Take the stress out of shopping lists {10:17} It saves you in the sanity department Mentioned on this episode: Ep 27: Choose the Right Containers Ep 74: Label Your Stuff Ep 75: Use What You Have    Container Store OXO  iDesign The Home Edit Pinterest  Don't miss my Instagram Reel @everythingwithstylemom where I show you how I debox and decant items in my pantry! Whether you have a small bathroom cabinet or an entire closet, organizing your linens can have both form and function!  On this episode I suggest some ways to get that “possibly overfilled with mismatched or unused bedding and towels” space working better for you and your family, which starts with that essential purge!  Once you've settled on what stays, it's time to group them together in like categories and properly fold them to fit the shelves or containers so it's most convenient for accessing. (Not to mention, easy on the eyes!)  Don't forget to donate or repurpose those unused linens as you go. Let's be real. Have you ever bought something in bulk, perhaps in an effort to save money, and ended up not using it or ran out of storage space to contain it all?  It happens! Even with the best money and time saving intentions.  Has your garage turned into your backstock area with mountains of stuff on shelves or maybe you've lost track of stuff you overbought because it got shoved into storage closets or deep cabinets never to be seen again? Also happens. I've uncovered lots of this stuff as an organizer and have been guilty of overbuying and tucking things away too.  On this episode we'll get to the bottom of why this may be happening and how to prevent it from costing you in the long run.    Highlights from this episode: {2:28} Using what we have {3:29} Out of sight out of mind {6:41} Overbuying leads to overkill {8:19} Be prepared, but consider the limitations of your space {10:00} Even great stuff can turn into clutter   Mentioned on this episode: Ep 1: The 3 E's Philosophy Ep 75: Use What You Have    Ready to get organized without the stress and overwhelm? This series of episodes is designed to address the fact that most if not all of us are home weathering out this pandemic. Our homes were not designed for this and make weathering this a little bit easier. This conversation with designer and founder of JAB Design Group, Joe Berkowitz. Joe is all about using what you have both creatively and smartly to make your space live bigger, live easier and inspire you. Once you know what you have, remove and add to find your place, and find inspiration. We could all use a little more of that right now.  Joe also shares advice for making your spaces more functional, right now. Thank you, Joe, for your time and talent.
