*Not* a reference to Tommy Pham, but he does appear in Police Blotter for possibly a record-setting time. Our fantasy team infields continue to make news with Pottymouth contemplating Rice from Wong and Patti finally covering 3B. Christian Walker heats up, Eugenio Suarez makes some noise, Wyatt Langford is back with a bang, and Pete CA can't stop taking it to the Dodgers. Again we make with the City Connect opinions including agreeing with Sweetart references and feeling groovy. In this episode Hawk, fresh from his COVID-19 adventure, stumbles through the maze of Donald Trump's immunity claims. Picture this: Trump, the former Commander-in-Chief and convicted felon, is essentially arguing for a "Get Out of Jail Free" card that would make even Monopoly players jealous. The Supreme Court, meanwhile, is busy trying to decide if being President is like having a lifetime supply of legal teflon.Hawk takes us on a whirlwind tour of the oral arguments, where justices pondered such pressing questions such as whether a president could order a military coup (you know, just your average Tuesday in the Oval Office). He predicts that while the Court won't give Trump total immunity, they might invent a new game show called "Is It Official or Personal?" for future presidents to play. As for Trump's other cases, it's like a legal version of Whack-A-Mole - knock one down, and another pops up.Finally, Hawk dives into Jack Smith's indictment, which reads like a political thriller with a cast of characters that would make a soap opera blush. Six unnamed co-conspirators? It's like Clue, but with fewer candlesticks and more subpoenas. Hawk wraps up by hoping for a pre-election trial, because nothing says "democracy" like deciding the fate of a presidential candidate between campaign rallies.Oh, and don't forget to buy some Pride merch at hawkmerchstore.com to support the Kaleidoscope Youth Foundation in Columbus, Ohio (kycohio.org) - all profit from the Pride Collection goes to this amazing non-profit for the month of June.Links to Judge Chutkan immunity decision and Jack Smith's J6 IndictmentJudge Chutkan immunity decision attached to this post - sourced from this article:https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.dcd.258149/gov.uscourts.dcd.258149.171.0.pdfJack Smith's January 6th Indictment (also attached):https://www.justice.gov/storage/US_v_Trump_23_cr_257.pdf SUPPORT & CONNECT WITH HAWK- Support on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/mdg650hawk- Support Hawk's Merch Store: https://hawkmerchstore.com- Connect on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@mdg650hawk7thacct- Connect on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@hawkpodcasts ALL HAWK PODCASTS INFO- Additional Podcasts Available Here: https://www.hawkpodcasts.com- Listen to Hawk Droppings On Your Favorite Platform:Spotify: https://spoti.fi/3RWeJfyApple Podcasts: https://apple.co/422GDuLYouTube: https://youtube.com/@hawkpodcastsiHeartRadio: https://ihr.fm/47vVBdPPandora: https://bit.ly/48COaTBSimplecast: https://hawk-droppings.simplecast.com- Hawk Droppings RSS Feed: https://feeds.simplecast.com/pPVtxSNJ
In this episode I interview Erin Lockwood who travels all over the world with her family to create their YouTube channel called Always Be Changing. Erin is an ESFJ Ox, type 2 on the Enneagram. She is parenting three children and two of them are her opposites. Her son Colt is an ENTP Eagle, who tested as gifted, but doesn't respond well to discipline and a typical school environment. Her daughter Brooklyn is an ISTP, the same type as my daughter, but a type 5 on the Enneagram, which will be the next episode now that we have wrapped up the heart center with types 2,3 and 4. Since Erin is a type 2 parenting a type 5, I thought it would be a great segway. I met Erin because her pediatrician recommended, she come see me before she pursued other psychological testing for her son Colt. I want to be the first and hopefully the last place families can get answers when they are wondering if their child's behavior is normal. I talk with Erin about 1. Her decision to pull her kids out of school and travel the world 2. The secret cure for her son's emotional impulsiveness and oppositional defiance 3. Why it isn't okay for her to hug her type 5 daughter 4. And how she has learned to set boundaries and separate facts from her very strong feelings. “Organizations are increasingly aware that they may not be as prepared as they should be for cyber incidents and are starting to understand the potential financial impact of downtime.” This was an eye-opening discussion with two of the best! Check out this awesome conversation with Randall and Larry, who joined From the Field to chat about importance of cybersecurity in today's business landscape, the challenges in cybersecurity including evolving threats and lack of correlation across platforms, and solutions for optimizing cloud environments and concerns about quick recovery from cyber incidents. During the conversation we explored the development of solutions that can correlate events from any platform and provide comprehensive attack vector analyses. Discussed solutions and efforts for optimizing cloud environments and providing lifecycle management and visibility, particularly in terms of operationalizing and minimizing impact on the organization. And considered the need for tools that can automate and maintain consistent policies across multiple clouds, reducing potential misconfigurations. Randall and Larry make several outstanding observations on the current state of security; There is a general level of confidence across different market segments, but there are still worries about visibility, workforce, and misconfigured tools; Challenges in cybersecurity related to including constantly evolving threats on core business and extended supply chains, such as dictionary attacks on VPNs, and the pressure on security teams from constantly playing "whack-a-mole"; Different teams with different toolsets, leading to a lack of correlation and integration across platforms; And, Cloud environments presenting challenges such as complex configurations and mismanagement, and the need for visibility, automation, and consistent policies.

Space Power: Securing Space Systems From Cyber Attack - “We Play Whack-A-Mole” This month, two years ago, Russia's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine started with a cyber attack that changed everything and yet nothing for the U.S. commercial space sector. This is the third in a series of episodes examining cyber attacks and space systems. Laura Winter speaks with Samuel Visner, Space Information Sharing and Analysis Center (Space-ISAC) Board Chair and Fellow at The Aerospace Corporation; Greg Falco, an Assistant Professor at the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and the Systems Engineering Program at Cornell University; and Ang Cui, Founder and CEO of Red Balloon Security.
The Center for Advanced Defense Studies (C4ADS) in Washington DC leverages public data to uncover illicit activities linked to global security threats and human rights abuses. As our guest Savanna Slaughter explains, her team focuses on natural resource security, wildlife crimes, and national security concerns. In Myanmar, they have been investigating the junta's military funding and illicit financial flows, including crony financing. However, sourcing data poses significant challenges, especially in Myanmar, where corporate activities are often shrouded in secrecy. C4ADS relies on public data, leaks, and informants to decipher complex networks. The team also utilizes digitized data and extensive cross-referencing with social media to construct clearer profiles of their subjects.Investigating illicit financial operations involves tracing shell companies and obscured transactions, often requiring a mix of diligent research, data analysis, and sometimes luck or insights from criminal probes. Slaughter mentions the constant emergence of shell companies exacerbates their work, making their task akin to playing “Whack-A-Mole.”“Moving forward with this is going to require a lot more innovation,” Slaughter says in closing, “in terms of identifying companies of interest, perhaps working to develop some screening lists, or building out directors of interest and combining corporate data in a new way to form screening lists for shell companies and things like that.”

Insecurity: Lack of Confidence Judges 6:1 // The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord, and for seven years he gave them into the hands of the Midianites. Judges 6:6 // Midian so impoverished the Israelites that they cried out to the Lord for help. Judges 6:11-12 // The angel of the Lord came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, where his son Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress to keep it from the Midianites. 12 When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.” Judges 6:15-18 // “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.” 16 The Lord answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.” 17 Gideon replied, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, give me a sign that it is really you talking to me. 18 Please do not go away until I come back and bring my offering and set it before you.” Judges 6:21-23 // Then the angel of the Lord touched the meat and the unleavened bread with the tip of the staff that was in his hand. Fire flared from the rock, consuming the meat and the bread. And the angel of the Lord disappeared. 22 When Gideon realized that it was the angel of the Lord, he exclaimed, “Alas, Sovereign Lord! I have seen the angel of the Lord face to face!” 23 But the Lord said to him, “Peace! Do not be afraid. You are not going to die.” Judges 6:36-40 // Gideon said to God, “If you will save Israel by my hand as you have promised—37 look, I will place a wool fleece on the threshing floor. If there is dew only on the fleece and all the ground is dry, then I will know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you said.” 38 And that is what happened. Gideon rose early the next day; he squeezed the fleece and wrung out the dew—a bowlful of water. 39 Then Gideon said to God, “Do not be angry with me. Let me make just one more request. Allow me one more test with the fleece, but this time make the fleece dry and let the ground be covered with dew.” 40 That night God did so. Only the fleece was dry; all the ground was covered with dew. Judges 7:2-4 // The Lord said to Gideon, “You have too many men. I cannot deliver Midian into their hands, or Israel would boast against me, ‘My own strength has saved me.' 3 Now announce to the army, ‘Anyone who trembles with fear may turn back and leave Mount Gilead.'” So twenty-two thousand men left, while ten thousand remained. 4 But the Lord said to Gideon, “There are still too many men. Take them down to the water, and I will thin them out for you there.” Judges 7:7 // The Lord said to Gideon, “With the three hundred men that lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hands. Let all the others go home.” 4:1 12:1 400:1 Judges 7:16 // Dividing the three hundred men into three companies, he placed trumpets and empty jars in the hands of all of them, with torches inside. 1. We fight insecurity with proper identity. Judges 6:12 // When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.” Identity —The truest thing about you In Christ, your identity is given, not earned. In Christ we are: Chosen Adopted Redeemed Marked Purchased 2. Confidence from anything temporary is temporary. Goalpost Syndrome 3. Confidence comes from obedience.

Anger comes when I feel my right have been violated. Ephesians 4:26-32 (NKJV) // “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil. Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need. Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. Anger leads to sin but is not a sin Being angry is inevitable. Living angry is a choice. Ephesians 4:27 (NIV) // and do not give the devil a foothold. Ancient Greek τόπος (tópos, “place”). “The Bible will keep you from sin or sin will keep you from the Bible” – Dwight L Moody 2 Kings 5:1; 9-15 (NIV) // Now Naaman was commander of the army of the king of Aram. He was a great man in the sight of his master and highly regarded, because through him the Lord had given victory to Aram. He was a valiant soldier, but he had leprosy So Naaman went with his horses and chariots and stopped at the door of Elisha's house. Elisha sent a messenger to say to him, “Go, wash yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be restored and you will be cleansed.” But Naaman went away angry and said, “I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, wave his hand over the spot and cure me of my leprosy. Are not Abana and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Couldn't I wash in them and be cleansed?” So he turned and went off in a rage. Naaman's servants went to him and said, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more, then, when he tells you, ‘Wash and be cleansed'!” So he went down and dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, as the man of God had told him, and his flesh was restored and became clean like that of a young boy. Then Naaman and all his attendants went back to the man of God. He stood before him and said, “Now I know that there is no God in all the world except in Israel. So please accept a gift from your servant.” Exchange my anger for gratitude Use my words Proverbs 15:1 (NIV) // A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Practice same day forgiveness Ephesians 4:27 // “…do not let the sun go down on your wrath The day of our hurt can also be the day of our healing James 1:19-21 (NIV) // My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. The answer to anger isn't becoming BETTER, it's becoming NEW 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV) // Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

This week I've got a productivity tip to give you so much more focused time in your classroom. Let's talk about email, and how often you check it. I can still remember the exact feeling of sitting in my kneeling desk in my first classroom, watching red flags spring up in the eight different inboxes in my First Class email dashboard. No sooner would I zero out my personal inbox than there would be a new announcement to teachers, or request to coaches, or task for advisors. It was like playing whack-a-mole, trying to respond to everyone all day long. But I worked hard at it. Every time I was free before school, between classes, before lunch, after lunch, and before practice, I'd quickly log in so I could reduce the stacking emails in every conference. Whack. Whack. Whack. And so it went on for years. Want to know how much I check my email now? Once a day. Unless I really can't get through it all, then I might follow up later after turning my attention to another project that needed me more. Here's the thing. In my experience, your inbox will be as demanding as you let it be. If you feel you must respond to everyone within 20 minutes, that's what they'll expect from you. But really, for almost everything, a day is a totally reasonable turnaround time. Sitting down to respond to emails when you really have the time and energy, instead of task switching in and out of your inbox constantly just to “make progress” can be a huge time saver for you. Not to mention energy and mood saver. The last thing you want is to feel frustrated and angry starting class after getting a problematic email, or to walk into lunch with your mind overwhelmed by an announcement you just read. Try saving email for one chunk of focused time in the day, and see if you begin to feel more free - in your mood and with your time - for other aspects of your day that are more rewarding and interesting to you. So, if you've ever felt like you're caught in an email hamster wheel that never ends, this week I highly recommend you try an experiment. Check it once (or if you must, twice) a day for a week instead of 10 or 15 times. See if it's a win for you. Go Further: Explore alllll the Episodes of The Spark Creativity Teacher Podcast. Learn from his experiences as he shares the secrets of identifying revolutionary tech, diversifying customer bases, and leveraging market dynamics. So, whether you're a startup founder, investor, or business leader, these insights will transform your approach to technology, customer relationships, and strategic planning. Episode Highlights:06:03 - I think one of the most important things an entrepreneur can do early on is find a design partner. So, you always have customers, but there are customers who will put in the sweat equity with you because they see what you're doing is so important to their business and could drive so much value for them that they're willing to give you feedback and spend time with you, and try different things. I think that's really important for understanding what you're building and building it the right way. Caveat being, you need to have your own vision. You don't want to build just for one customer. You have to remember this has to be a platform or a technology that applies to many. But often one customer will give you enough of a framework that it'll apply to many different folks.12:22 - In the venture world and in the startup world and the entrepreneur's world, we sell what could be the vision. But a customer wants what they can use now that drives ROI now that brings them a return and value now for the problem that they're experiencing. And so, I think that that's a really important thing. When you're going into a customer, you could sell a vision. You could sell a tool set that they could do a million things with, but they're not going to think for you. So, at the end of the day, you want to be able to say, "I know you have this pain point. I can solve this now." 16:55 - Make sure that it's not as valuable to them or not useful to them, whoever the attacker is. And so, that was really where we came to Endpoint Security, which will be the next revolution. Basically, taking that paradigm and realizing this is the new paradigm. Let's think about it this way and build the best solution for that. And so, that's why we invested at SineWave and Sentinel One, which ended up being the biggest cyber IPO ever. They did great. And then what's the next revolution? Not just we can Whack-A-Mole this new bug, or we can add a nice feature onto what Sentinel One can do in Endpoint. What is the next paradigm shift that requires people to architect their systems or think about the industry differently?26:24 - It's a marriage. I'm going to be around longer than some of your wives and husbands are going to be, especially if you build a second company after the first decade, first company. And so, you want to make sure that you're really working with the people you want to work with. I say that at SineWave all the time. We are a team that has a particular culture that works for us. We care about each other, and that's our model. And...
Elzie delves into the concept of revolutionary tech, prompting Yanev Suissa, a tech expert and visionary investor, to provide an illuminating breakdown. Yanev paints a vivid picture of how revolutionary tech signifies the next phase of technological advancements. He uses the field of cybersecurity as an example, highlighting its evolution from traditional perimeter defense strategies to more sophisticated approaches like endpoint security. The episode also showcases Yanev's firsthand experience as an investor, shedding light on his involvement with groundbreaking companies like Sentinel One, which achieved the largest cyber IPO in history. Yanev's investment philosophy revolves around identifying paradigm shifts and groundbreaking concepts that transform industries from the ground up.Tune in as Yanev shares his belief on how the next revolutionary frontier lies in the realm of identity and explains how this shift to the identity level represents a fundamental change that requires industries to rethink their architecture and strategies.Episode Highlight:01:10 - Make sure that it's not as valuable to them or not useful to them, whoever the attacker is. This episode is a little graphic, Neighbor. Luke has waged war against the moles in the backyard. (Perhaps you've seen him out there, weilding sharp objects and shrieking, in a primal sort of way.) If you've got a mole problem, let us tell you how to handle it... Then: Luke storms out of this episode. Luke has a very soft voice, which makes it difficult for him to be heard in this (loud) family. We try to teach him to speak from his diaphragm. But we have to hurry, because our guests are coming over to play games! Later: Don't you wish you could make divorce look as fun and cool as those people on social media?! Rather than No-Fault divorce, maybe we should refer to all parties as "Failed-at-Marriage." So many people are trying to find a way to "sell" their own life to the world; they want to package their story as a brand that can be consumed on social media. If having a failed marriage is part of her story, then an Influencer's only option is to find a way to make it seem like a good, relatable, positive thing... They're trying to make yucky things palatable. Like Matcha. Hey, Neighbor, will you hurry up and get your tickets to come on VACATION WITH US?! Visit johnbranyan.com for details about Vacay with Comics. IT WON'T BE THE SAME WITHOUT YOU.
