The ‘Yes' campaign has intensified its efforts this week, with thousands of people turning out for rallies nationwide on Sunday to back the Indigenous Voice to Parliament. It's the kind of visible community campaigning that ‘Yes' organisers have long been promising would ramp up as the referendum approaches. But it came at the end of a difficult week for the campaign, with some major opinion polls showing support is declining – and may have fallen behind the ‘No' vote. Today, associate editor of The Saturday Paper Marty McKenzie-Murray, on what's going on inside the ‘Yes' campaign as it struggles to secure the necessary majorities. Ben Davison, fresh from a Yes campaign launch event, talks about why he's voting YES at the referendum and how you can get involved through yes23.com.au or through your union at australianunions.org.au/wow to join and then follow the links. ICAC has found Gladys Berejiklian engaged in serious corrupt conduct. Ben discusses why the bosses pamphlet was so very wrong about Glady's "saving Australia" and why corruption has no place in our democracy. The NDIS is turning 10 and the former minister under Morrison decided to throw some grenades at the people trying to navigate the system and those trying to stamp out sham contracting, differential price gauging and multinational rorters. Ben talks about the need for reform but that the Liberals, like the Greens on housing, are all politics and zero policy. Ben explores the raft of changes Labor has starting in the economy from July 1 and why a larger budget surplus is good news for reducing inflation, future investments in education and a motivation for companies to pull their finger out and invest in workers and equipment. With the Liberal Party formally opposing the Voice, Peter Dutton last week kicked off his “no” campaign in Alice Springs. His claim that child sexual abuse is rife was quickly under attack from the government and others who accused him of politicking, using the issue as a political football. Scrymgour says Dutton is taking up the same theme as was heard in the Northern Territory intervention. “The same campaign that was done to justify the intervention is the same campaign that's been happening with the Leader of the Opposition.

Despite taking steps towards becoming a more equal and inclusive society for all, Australia has a problem with human rights. Indigenous Australians are the most incarcerated in the world. More than one woman is killed every week by a partner or former partner. Over half of Australians living with a disability lack access to support services they need. The proposed Religious Discrimination Bill threatens to undermine inclusive workplaces for LGBTQI+ people. Fighting to address these issues are five fearless human rights champions. From the Australian voice to the United Nations for people living with a disability, to leading the #KidsOffNauru campaign which saw every child detained offshore brought to Australia, their resumes are enviable and inspiring portfolios of human rights advocacy. Human rights lawyer and Equality Australia CEO Anna Brown's fingerprints are on nearly every major reform for LGBTQI+ people in recent years including playing a crucial role in achieving marriage equality as Co-Chair of the YES Campaign. Anna Brown has been integral in securing LGBTI+ discrimination law protections; expunging historical homosexual convictions; and strategic litigation to recognise gender diversity.

8 February 2016 – I love political detail. The nitty gritty, pixel level parts that combine to render something one can only see fully by stepping back. Jesse LaGreca (@JesseLaGreca on Twitter and MinistryOfTruth on Daily Kos) gave us some excellent, granular information on the seats most likely to help Democrats to flip the Senate. He also got into gerrymandering, the GOP Presidential nominees and why running away from Obama and the word “liberal” doesn’t fly with the Democratic Party base. Will reminded us that Trayvon Martin would have turned 21 this week. Will also gave a nod to the Sanders campaign for policing their Reddit and banning attacks on Hillary. Will then goes on to compare the Scottish YES campaign to the current Sanders campaign. (“You say you want a revolution….”) I start out the show with an update on the rapid changes coming for the Iranian economy and the real challenges faced by Iranian banks. Later in the show I try to answer listener Peter’s questions about how to talk about deficits and taxes. We love hearing from you here and via Twitter @IMHoppingMad. Mhairi Black was yet to graduate when she was elected to the House of Commons in May - the youngest Member of Parliament for over a century. She overturned a 16,000 majority and ousted the veteran Labour MP Douglas Alexander to win Paisley and Renfrewshire South for the SNP. She's packed a lot in to the past few weeks: taking her seat in Parliament; sitting the final exam of her politics degree (dissertation subject: the rise of the SNP); attending her graduation ceremony; and making her maiden speech, in which she attacked the Conservative budget with the observation that she was the only 20-year-old in the whole of the UK who the Chancellor was prepared to help with housing support. The seven minute speech has been viewed online an astonishing 10 million times. Mhairi Black emerged as a political starlet during the referendum campaign on Scottish independence in 2014. She caught the eye of the former SNP deputy leader Jim Sillars, who invited her to play a central role in the Yes Campaign, and who also advised her to stand for Parliament. She was expected to give Douglas Alexander a run for his money, but the real target was Holyrood in 2016. Now she's at Westminster, where an eager press is watching her every move. Her candid teenage tweets have been exhumed and her eating habits have been put under the microscope (even her best friends worry about her appetite for chips and Irn Bru). And she'll have less time to use her Partick Thistle season ticket. But Mhairi Black has her sights set for the top. "She will be a significant leader of a left-wing position in Scottish politics," says Jim Sillars. Presenter: Adam Fleming Producer: Tim Mansel.

For the first Scottish Independence Podcast interview after the referendum, I spoke with former MSP, national co-spokesperson for the Scottish Socialist Party and member of the Yes Campaign, Colin Fox.We talked about what the Yes campaign achieved, and will achieve in future and how, despite the disappointment of the loss, it's only S.I.D.You can find out what S.I.D. is in the interview.Apart from that we had to talk about the Tory assault on human rights, why Labour™ (or the Red Tories™ if you prefer), are getting it in the neck and the BBC and their wonderfully impartial and not at all defend-the-status-quo-at-all-costs type coverage. We also got on to what a Yes alliance could do in the future. There's all that and much more.Hope you enjoy...LINKShttps://twitter.com/colinfoxssphttp://www.scottishsocialistparty.org/http://michaelgreenwell.wordpress.com/https://twitter.com/The_SSP_http://michaelgreenwell.wordpress.com/category/the-scottish-independence-podcast/https://twitter.com/mgreenwell
