Welcome to the Untangled Podcast. I’m your host Rosie Turner and I support adults with ADHD to turn their pain into power, struggles into strength and chaos into peace. This podcast is for you if you’re ready to get untangled. You’ll hear stories of other adults with ADHD who have decided to embrace their strengths which have led them to go on and live amazing and purposeful lives despite the daily struggles they face. The Untangled podcast will...🧡 Shine a light on what ADHD is to break the stigma it still holds today so we can create the change that is needed🧡 You’ll be supported with tools and advice to give you the confidence to turn your struggles into strengths and feel empowered to embrace all that you are so you can live the life you truly desireI know what living with ADHD feels like. Like many of you will relate my life has felt chaotic, to say the least. Married at 24, divorced by 27, 8 failed driving tests, and partying like a rockstar, I experienced extreme highs and lows and acted from a place of impulse, which led to bad lifestyle choices. I battled with mental health and struggled to stay motivated in a corporate job. I felt totally lost in the world around me. When I was finally diagnosed with ADHD in 2021, I discovered that ADHD is so much more than I thought it was and I was totally shocked at how much it had impacted every area of my life. As an ADHD Sport and Wellness Coach and Movement and Meditation Coach, I support people like you to discover their strength from the inside out. Living with ADHD can be really challenging but if we can join forces and find confidence and acceptance in who we are, then I believe we can all start living a more fulfilled and positive life.LETS GET UNTANGLED AND SHOW THE WORLD WHAT WE ARE MADE OF! 🧡💫
Ever been so emotionally dysregulated you've said something you didn't mean — or worse, made an impulsive decision you instantly regretted? If you've got ADHD, then of course you have. We know the drill. But imagine that decision being broadcast live on TV… to the world.Well, that's exactly what happened to today's guest.Back by popular demand (and because I could chat to him for hours) — it's round two with:8x Muay Thai World ChampionOne of the most sought-after coaches on the planetAnd the only man I know who can swallow 30 supplements in one mouthful without blinkingThe legend himself — Liam Harrison — joins me for another raw and real chat about ADHD, setbacks and staying in the ring, both literally and metaphorically. We talk about the split-second decision to retire after a loss… and the crash that followed. Was it impulsivity? RSD? A fight-or-flight reaction wrapped in adrenaline? Probably all of the above. But what I love most is Liam's honesty — the regret, the reflection, and the resilience to say: “Nah, I'm not done yet.”We untangled:How overtraining and burnout can sneak in under the mask of hyperfocusWhy routine is everything for ADHDers — and how losing it can unravel us fastThe chaos that can follow injury or retirement when movement has been your main dopamine fixWhat schools still get wrong about ADHD — and why celebrating talent outside the box is so crucialThe importance of spotting emotional dysregulation in young athletesThis episode is more than just a conversation about ADHD and sport. It's about extreme behaviour. It's about what happens when your whole identity is wrapped up in one thing… and that thing suddenly disappears. It's about resilience, rage, and rewiring. And it's about how just one person who gets it — a coach, a teacher, a partner — can change the entire direction of your life.Liam's story isn't just about fighting in the ring. It's about fighting to stay grounded, regulated, and connected — even when the ADHD brain wants to burn it all down.Want to learn more from Liam? Liam isn't just a guest on the podcast — he's part of our speaker line-up inside the Certified ADHD-Informed Coach Training.Follow Liam! https://www.instagram.com/liambadcoLet's get ADHD Untangled and show the world what we're made of
Ever feel like your brain is sabotaging your business dreams? You're not alone! So I thought...Let's chat to someone who's been there, built it, messed it up, rebuilt it, and lived to tell the tale — the one and only Amanda Perry
Some of us don't stumble across ready-made communities. Some of us have to build them - and today's guest knows a thing or two about that.Today I am joined by the one and only Alexis Lee – Founder of Style Me Sunday, author of 'Feeling Myself', community leader (Black Enough, Healing Myself), psychotherapist in training and apparently, the only person who could get me talking about sex without wanting to crawl under the table. We dive into it all — the stuff nobody taught us growing up. From convent school guilt, to figuring out what love really means later in life, to how shutting down the sex chat only fuels more shame. We also get into how ADHD messes with body image, self-esteem, intimacy... and basically, how it all ties back to connection and community. From setting up a spontaneous fishing community (yep, you read that right) to navigating the chaos of daily life, Alexis shares her honest take on what it actually means to live authentically.
Do you have a graveyard of unfinished projects? A closet full of abandoned hobbies? If so, you're in the right placeIn this episode, we're untangling the idea of being a "professional quitter" especially within the ADHD community. Many of us carry a narrative of shame around quitting, impacting our confidence and future goals. But what if we could reframe quitting as a strength?Join me as I explore why those with ADHD often find quitting easy, delving into the role of dopamine, our interest-based nervous system and executive function challenges. I'll share my own experiences with quitting, from abandoned baby massage dolls to nine jobs in ten years…We'll unpack:
Ever felt like your brain just can't stop – or won't stop?Ideas, overthinking, random thoughts and that constant inner monologue that never shuts up – some might call it the ADHD chatter. If you know, you know. And let's be honest, it can leave you wondering if there's something wrong with you.Well today's guest will tell you that you are not alone. And you are definitely not broken. In this episode, I sit down with Alex Partridge – founder of Unilad and host of the ADHD Chatter Podcast – for an honest conversation about what it's really like living with ADHD. No pretending. Just the chaos, the truth and what it actually feels like.Alex doesn't just talk the talk. From building viral empires to wrestling with the reality of an ADHD diagnosis later in life, he's lived it. And now, he's using his voice to shift the way we think about neurodiversity – one real conversation at a time. Here's what we Untangle in this episode:
Have you noticed a pattern of extremes in your life? All in or all out, never just 'enough'?In this episode of our "Tangled In..." mini-series, I'm diving deep into the experience of ‘Chasing Highs' that I know so many of us can relate to. I'm exploring my own experiences with restlessness, the pursuit of ‘more' and that feeling of never being truly satisfied… Why do I and so many others with ADHD, often experience an intense need to chase highs? I'll break down the science behind this, including the role of dopamine, executive function challenges like working memory and time blindness, and the impact of self-belief and societal pressures.I'll walk you through how this shows up in my own life, from the subtle to the messy. And we'll explore:✨ Why dopamine plays such a huge role in our constant search for stimulation

Is your workplace neurodiversity-friendly…Ever feel like the 9-to-5 grind just…doesn't…fit? Or that your unique way of thinking is a hindrance instead of a help at work? This week, I'm joined by Thomas Woodhams—Tech Recruiter for Sony Sports, Host of Be.You Podcast and Neurodiversity Advocate—to unpack the realities of ADHD in the workplace. We're cutting through the jargon and getting real about the challenges and triumphs of navigating the corporate world with a neurodivergent mind.We explore:
It really is all about the music…
Money, Money, Money it ain't funny in an ADHDer's world….Unpaid parking fines, a pile of unreturned items, impulse spending, forgotten bills—don't even get me started on tax returns—and food that's gone off before you've even thought about eating it. Throw in some last-minute panic gift-buying to make up for feeling like a terrible friend, and you've got the ADHD money spiral in full swing. So today, we're ripping off the band-aid and facing it head-on with Clare Seal, a certified financial coach who gets it. Clare has ADHD herself and knows exactly what it's like to struggle with money. She found herself in £27,000 of debt and anonymously shared her journey of getting out of it through her Instagram page My Frugal Year. Since then, she's made it her mission to remove the shame around money and help people like us build financial systems that actually work with our ADHD brains. In this episode, we cover:
Ever told yourself you can't?You can't focus. You can't achieve anything because you're inconsistent. You can't stick with things—you always quit. You can't be trusted because you're too forgetful. You can't chase that dream. You can't find that love. You can't go to that yoga class. You can't climb that mountain.Sound familiar?Living with ADHD, we're constantly told what we can't do—by the world and by ourselves. But what about what we can do because of our differences?Today, we're joined by the incredible Fiona Callanan—aka The Bionic Rocket Woman. By day, she's a high-flying international lawyer. By passion, she's a yoga teacher on a mission to make movement accessible to all.She proves that the only real limitation we have is the one in our minds. After surviving the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami and losing her leg, Fiona didn't let that define her—she redefined herself. Yoga transformed her view of disability into strength, and now she's on a mission to make movement accessible to everyone.
Hey Untanglers!Rejection Rejection Rejection no one likes… but if you have ADHD rejection hurts a whole lot more and not even real rejection, perceived rejection can knock us down like a ton of bricks. It's that time of year where the world tells us to celebrate LOVE! I think we should celebrate love everyday and I don't mean with gifts, I mean just try our best to lead with love wherever we love for others and love for ourselves. Now loving oneself, especially when you have ADHD, can feel impossible. Let's face it we have spent our whole lives hating ourselves. The day of Love can be a mixed bag for us ADHDers, especially when Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) is part of the picture. The pressure of romantic expectations, the fear of rejection, and the desire to feel truly understood can make this celebration uniquely challenging. In this heartfelt episode, we're joined by some of our favorite past guests to explore the intersections of ADHD, RSD, and relationships. Together, we'll discuss:❤️ How ADHD impacts intimacy, communication, and love languages
This week, we're joined by the one and only Mark Walsh—aka Mr. Embodiment! Mark has ADHD, and is living proof of what happens when you figure out what works for you, lean into your passions, and get the right support in place.Mark is living proof of what's possible when you stop masking, lean into your ADHD strengths, and build a life around what truly works for you.In this episode, we sit down with Mark Walsh, also known as Mr. Embodiment! Mark is a true testament to the power of ADHD when you embrace your strengths and set boundaries. Mark has ADHD, and is living proof of what happens when you figure out what works for you, lean into your passions, and get the right support in place.Mark is a master at doing all the things ( exceptionally well) without losing his authenticity. He's trained over 2,000 trauma-informed coaches, hosts a podcast with over 3 million downloads, and has written three incredible books. If that's not impressive enough, his approach to boundaries and productivity will leave you inspired (and laughing out loud). In this episode, we dive into:The power of short voice notesDelegation like a pro (hint: hire some Germans—you'll hear why)Why masking is a no-go (and why stopping it can be life-changing)Practical insights into ADHD, trauma-informed coaching, and boundariesMark's story is full of laughs, raw honesty, and golden nuggets of wisdom. Zephyr opens up about her ADHD, growing up in a hippie commune, and the deeply personal story of her first husband, a touring musician who struggled with addiction. Hello Untanglers, this week we have a guest whom I have admired from afar for a long time, the remarkable Hana Walker-Brown, a multi-award-winning documentary audio documentary and podcast creator, composer and author, who joined me to untangle the complexities of ADHD and the raw power of storytelling. This episode deep dives into the struggles and strengths of living as what I like to call a ‘Can't Stop Won't Stop' ADHDer. Hana openly and wholeheartedly shares the story of her recent struggle with burnout, a turning point in her life that transformed her relationship with work and identity. Throughout this episode, Hana and I share the intimate struggles of living with that strong desire and need to achieve that is often embodied by many individuals with ADHD and how embracing our neurodiversity is not just about managing symptoms but unlocking our true creative potential. We discuss how peeling away the layers of our professional selves can support us in uncovering the core of our being, revealing that sometimes, the bravest thing we can do is retreat and recharge. We cover addictive behaviours celebrated by society, self-worth, and the art of storytelling whilst celebrating the strength that comes from authenticity and the importance of community.Listen as we unfold the transformative power of allowing ourselves to flow with creativity and the courage it takes to seek support and be vulnerable in the face of mental exhaustion. Hannah embodies resilience, authenticity, kindness and creativity, and this heart-to-heart is a celebration of finding strength in vulnerability and the significance of connections that lift us higher. Leanne Maskell, a former lawyer turned ADHD Entrepreneur, is doing some seriously AMAZING work in our community. It's no secret that, due to struggling for many years in the workplace with undiagnosed ADHD, I am a passionate advocate for supporting my clients in this area and also for those running their own businesses with ADHD. Alongside my dream for the world to see neurodiverse employees as assets when given the freedom and support to thrive in their businesses. So, after observing Leanne from afar since my ADHD diagnosis, I was extremely excited to finally meet her and have her as a guest on the ADHD Untangled podcast. And she did not disappoint...We covered the following topics:UNTREATED ADHD & MENTAL HEALTH: Leanne shares an open and authentic story of her struggles leading up to her own diagnosis, highlighting the seriousness of untreated ADHD in relation to our mental health.ADHD & ENTREPRENEURSHIP: 'You cannot be what you cannot see.' Leanne's insightful advice on what it's really like to be an entrepreneur with ADHD provides evidence that, despite the struggles that come with bringing your dreams to life, with the right mindset and support, we are more than capable of succeeding.ADHD & PERFECTIONISM: I often see the biggest barrier that holds ADHDers back when it comes to doing more meaningful work is our fear of failure and our often painful need for perfectionism. I took so much comfort during this episode after hearing someone as successful as Leanne reference some publicly perceived 'failure/mistakes' she experienced in her early days of launching her first book, ADHD A-Z, and starting her business, ADHD Works. This reinforced my belief that failure is indeed not fatal.ADHD & COACHING: A passionate advocate for ADHD Coaching, Leanne shares how having an ADHD Coach has been integral to the success she has had within her business.ADHD & THE WORKPLACE: Leanne is out there doing the groundwork for changing the way companies see their neurodiverse employees, providing training to companies such as Microsoft and Disney. She gives us some insight into the changes we are seeing and where the gaps are.I learned so much from Leanne during this episode, and it was a great reminder that being brave enough to step forward with imperfect action is a sure way to overcome fear and is a powerful mindset that encourages progress, growth, and success."More from Leanne here...https://linktr.ee/adhdworksADHD COACHING IT'S TIME TO TURN YOUR ADHD STRUGGLES INTO STRENGTHS AND SHOW UP IN THE WAY YOU WERE ALWAYS MEANT TO! Meet Linda Roggli, ADHD Women's Only Coaching Legend….Linda is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC), award-winning author and founder of the A-D-Diva Network for ADHD women 40-and-better. She is an internationally-recognized expert in midlife and senior ADHD.In this episode we cover all things ADHD and late diagnosis in Women….and delve deep into the connection to hormonal changes and ADHD symptoms. Linda has been out there shouting about and supporting women with ADHD for almost 20 years , well before the world started to recognise it. So she has A LOT of knowledge and experience on these topics.Linda has an infectious energy and just like me can see that once treated, ADHD is something we no longer have to be ashamed of and can very much be embraced as an asset despite the challenges it brings. I took a lot of inspiration away from this chat with Linda, more evidence that following what is meaningful to us is where we really see ADHDers shine, Hormones changes for ADHD women can be more intense and extreme than those without, treatment for your hormones, mental health and hormones fluctuations is unique for everyone and most importantly this conversation reminded me that it's our differences that really give us that spark and to hide that from the world would be a real disservice. Linda A-D-Diva energy was infectious, this episode will not only educate and support you, it will completely inspire and motivate you to keep stepping forward with self belief that you have got this!!!
Introducing our extraordinary guest, a figure I've eagerly awaited on this podcast since it began—a true hero in my eyes.Ladies and gentlemen, please join us in welcoming the remarkable Professor James Brown! Not only is Professor James Brown one of the esteemed hosts of the ADHD Adults podcast, but he also wears the hat of a charity owner and is the proud spouse of a previous ADHD Untangled guest, the incredible Mrs. ADHD.With over two decades of dedicated research into the intricate world of hormones, James is a true authority on the subject. Given some recent personal challenges I've faced and the shared struggles of our friends and clients, it was imperative that we tapped into his wealth of knowledge. Engaging in a conversation about hormones was genuinely enlightening, and James's passion for the topic was evident throughout our discussion.A profound revelation for me was discovering that hormones play a pivotal role in virtually every aspect of our lives. This episode offered me reassurance in understanding that the ebb and flow of emotions and experiences, whether throughout the month or our life journey, is perfectly normal. It's not merely us feeling like we're on an emotional rollercoaster; hormones are at the heart of this intricate process.Get the tissues out as this episode is a tear jerker as James shares honestly and openly about his own struggles and strengths with ADHD, sharing his passion and determination for helping others through his podcast. It was an absolute honour and pleasure to interview James and was extremely comforting to know that YES hormones affect every aspect of your life and solidifies the notion that it is OK not to feel OK sometimes!I really hope that you enjoy this one and fall in love with the absolutely amazing Professor James Brown!
