Send us a textWhat if the smallest patients finally had a diaper designed just for them? For years, NICUs have struggled to find appropriately sized diapers for extremely premature infants, often resorting to makeshift solutions that compromised skin integrity and care quality. That changes now. In this breaking news episode, Ben sits down with Harry McCusker, Director of Research and Development for North America Pampers Diapers, to discuss the groundbreaking launch of the Pxxs diaper—the world's smallest commercially available diaper, specifically engineered for micropreemies born as early as 21-23 weeks gestation. Weighing less than a nickel and designed with input from NICU professionals worldwide, the Pxxs addresses critical challenges in skin protection, fluid management, and developmental care for our most vulnerable patients. Join us as we explore how this innovation represents more than just a smaller diaper—it's Pampers' commitment that every preemie deserves products designed with their unique needs in mind.Support the showAs always, feel free to send us questions, comments, or suggestions to our email: nicupodcast@gmail.com. This episode is sponsored by Naturepedic. Today, we're pulling back the curtain on the baby product industry, and trust me, it gets messy. From hidden toxins in crib mattresses to the rise of greenwashing and misleading “eco-friendly” labels, parents are navigating a world that's more confusing than ever. To help us make sense of it all, Naturepedic's Chief Growth Officer, Arin Schultz, is joining me for a real‑talk conversation about what's actually in the products our babies sleep on, roll on, and breathe in every day. Arin is a dad of four boys, a brilliant (and hilarious) industry insider, and one of my favorite guests to learn from when it comes to organic products. We're covering: The “dirty truth” about conventional baby products Which certifications actually matter — and which mean nothing Why crib mattresses are a HUGE deal for your baby's health How to avoid greenwashing What parents on a budget should prioritize Rapid-fire myth busting (prepare to be shocked!) What Arin wishes every parent knew before walking into a baby store If you've ever wondered: “What should I really be looking for when shopping for my baby?” — this episode is your new go‑to guide. This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, we're looking back on our first year as parents (Tate is 1 in T-1 week!!!). From the best and hardest moments to the products we swear by (and the ones we regret buying), we're breaking down everything we've learned over the past 12 months. Plus, we get into food under one year old, the advice we wish we had about breastfeeding and pumping (PS im officially done!!!!) , and what helped us thrive year one as a couple. And of course, the fun stuff: in Things We DMed - a high school's “Rejection Therapy” assignment (yes, kids literally asking to do the chicken dance for free food) and the frat prank that convinced a pledge he won the $1.8 billion Powerball (best prank ever or is this just mean??). And in This Week We Learned: “placebo sleep” is actually a thing… and it might change the way you think about a bad night's sleep. WE LOVE YOU GUYS! Hi friends, happy Wednesday! I don't know if this is happening to any of you out there, but suddenly, everyone I know is having a baby. Which means I'm looking at one baby registry after another. Honestly I don't mind, I love buying baby stuff. It's so little and cute. But lately, I've noticed that the stuff people have on their registry is *next level.* Now, everyone gets wipe warmers… so the wipes that touch the baby's butt aren't cold. There's toy subscriptions for infants, so your baby's mental development stays on track. They even make these mini dishwashers just for baby bottles. What else will they think of?? The baby industry is worth over *$358 billion dollars.* I me an, things have come LONG way. But it was always like this, it used to be *way* simpler. But does that mean it was better? Turns out, there is a shocking history behind baby products I had never heard about. Many products that were marketed to parents to *help* their babies actually ended up seriously hurting or even killing them. And with new baby products popping up every day, I'm wondering… are we doomed to repeat the past? I can *not* wait to hear your thoughts on this one - whether you're a parent or not. Welcome to the Dark History of Toxic Baby Products! I sometimes talk about my Good Reads in the show. So here's the link if you want to check it out. In this episode of Grow a Small Business, host Troy Trewin engages in an insightful conversation with Sari Davidson, founder of Fractional Founders. Sari shares her entrepreneurial journey, beginning with the establishment of Boogan Head, a baby products company, in 2007, through to its successful acquisition in 2024. Boogan Head's product line, which included pacifier clips, was distributed through major retailers such as Walmart and Target, achieving annual revenues between $5 and $10 million with a team of nine full-time employees. During the discussion, Sari underscores the significance of authenticity in marketing and addresses the complexities of scaling a business, particularly the challenges posed by Walmart's markdown policies. She also stresses the critical need for small business owners to maintain a strong grasp of financial management and highlights the value of mentorship and continuous professional development in driving long-term success. Why would you wait any longer to start living the lifestyle you signed up for? Balance your health, wealth, relationships and business growth. And focus your time and energy and make the most of this year. Let's get into it by clicking here. Troy delves into our guest's startup journey, their perception of success, industry reconsideration, and the pivotal stress point during business expansion. They discuss the joys of small business growth, vital entrepreneurial habits, and strategies for team building, encompassing wins, blunders, and invaluable advice. And a snapshot of the final five Grow A Small Business Questions: What do you think is the hardest thing in growing a small business? According to Sari Davidson, the hardest aspects of growing a small business are time and money. Limited resources make it challenging to fund people, marketing, production, and essential activities like trade shows. Additionally, when owners try to do everything themselves, it often leads to burnout. What's your favorite business book that has helped you the most? Sari Davidson finds "The 4-Hour Workweek" by Tim Ferriss impactful. She has implemented principles from the book to create balance and efficiency in both her past and current businesses. Are there any great podcasts or online learning resources you'd recommend to help grow a small business? Sari Davidson highly values in-person learning opportunities, such as regional conferences and events from organizations like EO (Entrepreneur Organization). While she isn't a fan of online courses, she loves podcasts and incorporates them into her daily routine to gain insights on business and health. What tool or resource would you recommend to grow a small business? Sari Davidson emphasizes the power of AI tools like Canva and Adobe, especially for small businesses. These tools help create professional-quality outputs at a low cost, enabling businesses to compete effectively. What advice would you give yourself on day one of starting out in business? Sari Davidson advises her younger self to trust that everything will work out in the end. She believes the challenges faced will lead to accomplishments and experiences that allow you to impact others significantly. Additionally, seeing her children admire her work ethic has been a gratifying outcome. Book a 20-minute Growth Chat with Troy Trewin to see if you qualify for our upcoming course. Kimberly Li, the owner of L'Ange, shares her journey of starting the company and the unique features of her products. She discusses the challenges and rewards of running a business, including the increasing costs and the decline of small businesses. Kimberly also talks about the expansion of L'Ange's product line and the excitement surrounding it. She emphasizes the importance of resilience and maintaining a fitness routine for mental and physical health. Kimberly shares her parenting style, which her kids describe as laissez-faire, and offers advice to other parents to trust themselves and their love for their children. Finally, she discusses the inspiration behind starting L'Ange. L'Ange was started by Kimberly's cousins in 2016, but she took over during the pandemic. The initial mission was to bring back traditional muslin fabric for baby products. L'Ange uses a medical-grade packaging that is waterproof and airtight to ensure the products remain clean and free from contaminants. The towels are made with a puffer weave technique, which prevents snagging and creates a more comfortable user experience. Kimberly selects the materials for the products through multiple levels of inspection. She incorporates customer feedback into product development and constantly strives to improve each batch. The most rewarding part of running the business is seeing customers continue to use and enjoy the products. L'Ange plans to expand its product line, including a hooded poncho towel and apparel made from muslin fabric. Kimberly also emphasizes the importance of supporting small businesses and incorporating a human aspect into the company.
