#176 - El éxito de Ali+Oli: Amazon, Shopify, B2B y más, con Alejandra James

Wizards Of Ecom (En Español)

“Hacen shows y se ofrecen descuentos. Jamie Grayson is the first male guest to be featured on Dear FoundHer, and it's easy to see why the exception was made for him! Jamie is exceptional. Shortly after starting as a product demonstrator and personal shopper in New York City's buybuyBaby store, customers began emailing the store to ask for him by name. In March, 2010, New York Magazine named him the city's best baby-gear expert, and soon he was doing 50 engagements a year as one of the most well-respected experts in the baby gear and child safety space. Jamie spent every spare moment researching his products and newfound industry because he believed his customers, and later his audience, deserved the most honest and helpful information to make their decisions. Thanks to this “human first” philosophy, Jamie's millions of followers remain just as devoted to him, even as his brand continues to evolve. He's shed his “BabyGuy” moniker, yet he remains as passionately dedicated as ever to helping parents make decisions about the best gear for their children with his reviews and events. As his social media platforms expand to include activism, business advice, pop culture, and theater, his approach remains the same: a business is essentially a community of friends. On this episode of Dear FoundHer, hear Jamie discuss the dangers of having a business plan, the pros and cons of social media, and how no one really knows what they're doing. Quotes • “I was the only man working with all of these doulas and taking childbirth classes. I really loved being around all this really cool, strong female energy.” 9:12-9:26 | Jamie) • “I realized that with support, education and just a little bit of empathy as a human, you can make a drastic difference.”(19:56-20:05 | Jamie) • “Knowing your worth and what to charge is one of the hardest things about this whole space. (22:54-23:00 | Jamie) • “It is impossible to do everything by yourself.” (32:16-32:19 | Jamie) • “That's in our mission statement on my site: Human being first, business second.” (35:47-35:50 | Jamie) • “This influencer culture we live in, I don't love. When people call me an influencer, I hate it.”(48:25-48:31 | Jamie) Connect with Jamie Grayson: Instagram | http://www.instagram.com/thejamiegrayson TikTok | https://www.tiktok.com/@thejamiegrayson Please don't forget to rate, comment, and subscribe to Dear FoundHer on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts! Do you love walking through the baby section of stores, and seeing all the cute and clever gadgets for baby? I always walk through and think, "I should have thought of that. It is genius." Or "I definitely need that because it is so darn cute." Because cute is the prerequisite for all things baby. There are so many fun, cute, and interesting things for baby, you can easily get carried away. Unfortunately, many of these items have an expiration date on how long baby will actually use it. They can really end up being a waste of money and aren't helpful for having a baby on a budget.Show notes and links: https://lifeunboxed.blog/baby-on-a-budget RESOURCES MENTIONED IN THE SHOW:Baby Cost CalculatorMy Birthing StoriesBaby GearErgo Baby CarrierHigh Needs BabyBaby Bjorn CarrierPre-owned StrollersDot-Grid Journals and Notebooks for Mom~~~MOM BOSS 2.0 WORKBOOKAre you ready to break free from the 9–5, be your own boss, raise your kids, and enjoy your life? Feeling overwhelmed by the clutter of toys and baby gear taking over your home? Would you like to upcycle your stash of hardly used mother's little helpers, but can't find the time or energy to cart them to a consignment store? Our guest, Rhonda Collins, knows exactly how you feel. A documentary film director and a Mom to twin daughters, Rhonda lived in a tiny apartment in Oakland, CA and hadn't seen her floors in years. Every time she went to declutter all the gear, she felt a pang from the guilt of how much she spent on all the toys and from the thought of throwing out perfectly good toys which would end up in a landfill.Environmentally conscious and an avid recycler from a young age, Rhonda felt so uncomfortable to have all of this stuff and not know what to do with it, and not sure what would happen to it if she just donated it to the Salvation Army. She knew she had to solve the problem not just for her, but for society. So she co-founded TOYCYCLE - the easiest way to buy and sell used toys and baby gear. Toycycle knows buying used merchandise can feel risky. They’re able to remove the risk with a high standard for their consignment program, fully vetted products and a Customer Satisfaction Guarantee.Rhonda shares her startup journey, beginning when she left her documentary filmmaker career, where she spent 20 years playing a variety of roles – producer, director, editor – on many award-winning independent documentaries. She reveals how she found the BEST CTO a founder could hope for, how she proved her original value proposition, and what she learned from her customers that caused her to have a sharp pivot in her business model, resulting in a much higher reward and experience for TOYCYCLE and its target market. Please visit TOYCYCLE's website here: https://www.toycycle.co/ and follow the company on:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/toycycle.org Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/toycycle/Twitter: https://twitter.com/toycyclecoIf you’d like to receive an alert whenever I post a new episode, please follow the Startup Life Show wherever you listen to podcasts, including: Stitcher, Spotify or Apple/Google Podcasts… and let’s connect on social media! Have you ever sat down to create a list of all the "gear" you "need" for baby's arrival? Wish it was all listed in one place instead of scattered across the internet? Wish people were honest about what they really needed vs. what they were led to believe they needed by big box stores, registry sales people and websites, (and, dare we say it, even friends and family)? Trying to stick to a budget for baby's arrival? You can be led to spend a fortune without even trying. In this first official episode of our podcast, we review all the gear we've looked at, reviewed, compared, considered, and carefully evaluated - and then what we eventually bought in order to prepare for the arrival of our first baby. We divided the 'stuff' into categories, which you can find listed below. And it's not as much as we thought! I've seen solopreneuer stores try so hard to make themselves look bigger than they are, and we see right through it. Hey, I did the same thing when I started my own business eight years ago. But one of the turning points that leveled up our business was when I got out in front of as the face of the brand. It's something I've seen as a common characteristic of successful online brands And today's guest does a great job at it. He was on our show last summer as well after moving his store onto Shopify and experiencing explosive growth after a successful free plus shipping campaign. Now he's back to update us how his business grown in the last year through his personal video content marketing Joining us today is Beav Brodie from Tactical Baby Gear. Beav developed Tactical Baby Gear and brought it to market in 2013 using Instagram as a platform to promote and sell it initially. He came from a 15 year career as a custom car builder and knew some, but very little about e-commerce, and had to learn everything on his own The results have been extraordinary Listen now. — Subscribe to The Unofficial Shopify Podcast via Email Subscribe to The Unofficial Shopify Podcast on iTunes Subscribe to The Unofficial Shopify Podcast on Stitcher Subscribe to The Unofficial Shopify Podcast via RSS Join The Unofficial Shopify Podcast Facebook Group Work with Kurt — Learn: Beav's approach to video Why you shouldn't sell directly How to know what content to provide Why it builds trust & loyalty Why you should build a reputation, not a personal brand What you need to get started How to keep it real (and why it matters) Why you need to get out of your own What gear to use (and why you should buy a mic first) Beav's answer to the number one question he gets to work/life balance Links Mentioned: Tactical Baby Gear Tactical Baby Gear on Facebook Rode Lapel Mic Free Guide I want to send you a sample chapter of Ecommerce Bootcamp, absolutely free.
