BANG! @southernvangard radio Ep474! This week is a special one, Vangardians. Our long time friend, BIG KEN LUV aka CAVE CITY KENNY was in-studio and the ultimate bug-out ensued. BIG KEN was DJ JON DOE's co-host on “THE SCENARIO”, a weekly college radio show that aired on Sunday nights at WWHR 91.7 FM, Western Kentucky University's student-run radio station in the mid-late 90's. Oddly enough, THAT show was also on Sunday nights, so in typical fashion - it was just meant to be. Gobs of new joints, energy on 1 trilly, ultimate trash talk and more are waiting for you - just press play, sit back and enjoy the ride. By his 20s, he was working as a sound designer for Akai, Roland, Emu/Ensoniq, eventually signing on exclusively with the latter. He soon gained several prominent contracts working with some notable artistes such as Busta Rhymes, Greensleeves, 9 Bar, SFP, Sleeveless, Chris Campbell and Gam Productions. He contracted to Island Records and Chrysalis as a producer and remixer, and was commissioned to write the score for Macbeth that ran at 2 Way Mirror at Alexander Palace for the Cambridge Shakespeare Company. This led to him offering educational workshops and classes, and becoming a contributing creator and Forum moderator for Sound On Sound.Recently, he was invited by the Recording Academy to become a professional member, approved educator, and mentor for their member base. Eddie now concentrates on providing private sound design and mixing/production tuition, and creating content for Sound On Sound magazine.https://eddiebazil.co.uk/Catch more shows on our other podcast channels: https://www.soundonsound.com/sos-podcasts

First Indy recounts the biography of John Forte and we listen to the evolution of his music, then Samantha talks about the extensive Private novel series by Kate Brian, and finally we prepare for the tearjerking world of Nicholas Sparks and next week's watch A Walk To Remember. I Love This You Should Too is hosted by Samantha and Indy Randhawa John Edward Forté (January 30, 1975 – January 12, 2026) was an American rapper and record producer. He is best known for being a member of the musical collective Refugee Camp All-Stars, for his collaborations "We Trying to Stay Alive" (with Wyclef Jean) and "Rumble in the Jungle" (with the Fugees, A Tribe Called Quest and Busta Rhymes), and for his production work on The Score (1996), which received critical acclaim and earned Forté a Grammy Award nomination.[1] In 1998, he released his debut studio album, Poly Sci. In 2000, he was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and conspiracy to distribute; he was convicted and sentenced to the mandatory minimum 14 years after being found guilty. Forté received support from several notable figures, including Carly Simon, who became a close ally and helped advocate on his behalf during his legal defense. Forté's prison sentence was later commuted by President George W. Bush in 2008. Private is a series of young-adult novels by American author Kate Brian, beginning with 2006's entry of the same name. The books chronicle the rise of ambitious teenager Reed Brennan, the series' narrator, as she becomes a member of her new school's elite dorm—composed of a glamorous yet disparate group of teens known as the Billings Girls. As the series progresses, several matters surrounding mystery, morality, and romance arise.

The "studious fools" also catch a case of the Petty Police as they roast Busta Rhymes for telling a fan she had a "big face" and investigate how Kylie Jenner’s custom Stormi world clothes ended up in a Goodwill bin. The TWENTY30's co-hosts Hanaa Almoaibed and Lucien Zeigler sit down with Saud Alturki, Saudi music producer, curator, and founder of Brij Entertainment ahead of the release of his third album, High Octane. A project two and a half years in the making, the track list reads like a love letter to hip hop royalty. Busta Rhymes. Swizz Beatz. West Side Boogie. Rhapsody, whom Saud calls his favorite female MC alive today. Working with his creative director Chindi, who turned every production conversation into something closer to a therapy session, Saud landed on a concept that's deeply rooted in where he's from, the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. Saud takes us back to the beginning: a freshman at McGill in Montreal, freezing through his first Canadian winter and discovering that music wasn't just something he loved — it was something he could do. A move to LA, a chance encounter at a Verizon store with a gospel-tinged R&B singer named Bernard, and seven years of patience later, he finally put out his first single. That story alone sets the tone for everything that follows: Saud is someone who builds slowly, deliberately, and for keeps. But the conversation doesn't stop at the album. Saud talks about what it really takes to build a music industry in Saudi Arabia — not just a music scene. Venues, labels, studios, government support, festivals like Middle Beast that have built an entire ecosystem around artists. He's careful to say Saudi isn't quite an industry yet, but the infrastructure is finally arriving, and the talent — including his Brij Entertainment artist Hajaj, the first Saudi to perform at Grammy weekend in LA — is already outpacing it. There's also a sharp, honest take on the streaming era, why dropping albums in 2025 is "not the best move" (and why he's doing it anyway), the emerging Saudi genre Hoppe — a fusion of Sambri and hip hop that he wishes he'd invented — and what he tells young artists in Riyadh who have every resource he never had at 17. High Octane drops after Ramadan.
Episode 377: THE STEREOTYPES "Crafting Life Saver Hits For Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber" This week on @RoadPodcast features an in-depth conversation with The @StereotypesTV (@JonYip + @JermBeats + @RayRomulus), charting their rise from interns and studio rats to Grammy-winning producers behind era-defining records. Crooked opens by giving them their flowers as true DJ “life savers,” praising their ability to balance vibe, storytelling, and music that unites people in the middle (02:33), before Ray reflects on growing up in New York, interning at Bad Boy and Def Jam, and learning the industry from the ground up (05:23). The trio breaks down how they first connected, their wide-ranging influences from the Bay to Snoop, Dre, Bone Thugs, Premier, and Teddy Riley, and the moments that permanently shifted their musical perspective, including hearing Busta Rhymes' “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See” (17:20). They tell the full story of “Damage” by Danity Kane, from ballad to hit, including seeing it on Making The Band and hearing it play at Guitar Center while they were still broke (35:26). The conversation moves into their relationship with Far East Movement and Bruno Mars, leading to a detailed breakdown of 24K Magic, Finesse, and the writing process behind records like “That's What I Like” and “Chunky,” plus how adding Cardi B turned “Finesse” into a mega hit (44:30). They also touch on uncredited work, publishing lessons, career slowdowns, and behind-the-scenes realities, from studio grind to IRS stress and finally winning Grammys after years in the trenches (1:04:55). The episode closes with optimism about new music, future collaborations, and why 2026 is shaping up to be a special year (1:34:01).
