Some telephone companies who can no longer take your calls.Episode 191 gives you your weekly dose of Gen-X nostalgia with all of this and more! Many fads come and go. However it takes a special fad to come and go repeatedly over decades. That is what makes troll dolls different. We do a deep dive into them this week. Can a beloved Disney character make learning about math palatable? Jonathan Maldonado is the Learning and Development Manager at PGA TOUR Superstore. He has a vast experience with deskless workers with his experience from Cingular. Jonathan was a former frontline employee himself and he is passionate about making sure they have everything they need to succeed. Jonathan joins host Justin Lake to talk about some of the biggest challenges facing frontline workers and how we can overcome them.    Takeaways  The biggest challenge facing frontline workers today is trying to increase engagement and adoption when it comes to learning materials. Learning and Development is an investment as it costs time and money to train someone properly.  Change can vary from being a daily experience to being something that doesn't happen often, but either way you want to prepare employees for. You have to look at the gaps and see if you can get people over to a new system and change their behaviors around it. There needs to be an appropriate amount of time to get change to go out and make sure it rolled out properly. Take the pressure off of retail by partnering with the department heads so that they can help plan out a proper lay out for any change coming down the line. Getting boots on the ground is a great method to help upper level managers understand what is really going on and see where they need to help out.   Quote of the show 3:19 “When it comes to learning and development and training, there's an investment. That time costs money, the money it takes to develop content as well as the money and time that it takes for people to absorb that particular content.” Links LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonathan-maldonado-475536110/ Company Website: https://www.pgatoursuperstore.com/   Ways to Tune In: Amazon Music - https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/2f4ecd92-6468-4769-b0bf-254e236510b7/FRONTLINE-INNOVATORS  Apple Podcast - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/frontline-innovators/id1572329402 Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/29m3wnK8pbFjdSvJ9wjmyS Stitcher - https://www.stitcher.com/show/frontline-innovators Google Play - https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZnJvbnRsaW5laW5ub3ZhdG9ycy5jb20vZmVlZC54bWw YouTube - https://youtu.be/HLOx5Lbbvg0

Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions:  Victor: Would you recommend an under desk treadmill? I spend so many hours sitting down because of work and was thinking setting out my office in a way that I could walk in the treadmill while working. And no, this is not a replacement to my workouts or outdoor walking. It's just that sometimes I find it hard to get my 10k steps daily. I feel like I get a lot in the morning (walk to the gym and back) but that's around 7k steps. Then sometimes I don't have time to leave the house for another walk because I'm super busy with work... hence was thinking the under desk treadmill! Thomas: Hey Dr. Cabral, thank you for the endless wisdom and the many years you've added onto my life. I wanted to ask you about broccoli sprouts. I know they are full of sulforafane, so I grow my own in a jar, and put a dense handful into my morning smoothies. Do you grow and/ or use them? Sometimes they smell pungent so it's hard to tell if it's the beneficial sulforafane or something bad like mold. I try to err on the safe side so wanted to see what your pros/cons would be. Thanks! Katie: Hi Dr. Cabral! I'm wondering your advice for someone who has done gut healing but still experiences allergy symptoms. I've worked with your team for about 3 years now and have done CBO once + a second short round, 2 mold protocols (and testing for mold in house - none), a heavy metal detox, rebalanced hormones + cortisol levels, and supplements to adjust other imbalances that came up, plus took out food sensitivities. I ran the big 5 again a year ago and things were much improved, so I know it's working to some extent. I no longer experience hay fever symptoms like Post nasal drip, itchy eyes, runny nose, etc. However I do still experience asthma/allergy symptoms in the form of sinus headaches/migraines, and breathing troubles. The breathing troubles are not just standard asthma attacks, but what I can best describe as "sniffing for air" - a sensation I'm not getting enough air in (easily) through the nose, so it's as if I gasp for air through the nostrils. Often my throat & tongue muscles feel tense as well. I'm currently on Cingular and Xyzal, plus HistPro and other allergies teas & tinctures, but can't seem to totally kick my allergies. What recommend next steps would you take if you were in my shoes? Katie: Hi Dr. Cabral! Wondering if you can provide an explanation for feeling a watery mouth/ slightly nauseous sensation during late nights or early mornings. I notice if I stay up late (no alcohol), or wake up early (before 7am sometimes!), I get this uncomfortable feeling paired with fatigue. Eating seems to help it so I wonder if it's related to blood sugar? So curious your thoughts! Thanks for your help always :) Erica: Hey Cabral! I'm not sure if you have answered this question before.. I couldn't find it online.. but I was wondering what your daily eating + supplement routine looks like. What times you eat breakfast, lunch, dinner.. possibly a juice.. what your go to eating routine looks like.. i..e breakfast = smoothie + oatmeal, lunch = vegetables + lean protein.. foods you eat most commonly, etc. of course I know everyone's body is different.. and reacts / responds to things differently.. but it would be cool if you maybe made an episode on this ! Thanks! Kelsey: Any tips for living with thalassemia minor? Are there any gut connections?   Thank you for tuning into today's Cabral HouseCall and be sure to check back tomorrow where we answer more of our community's questions!  - - - Show Notes & Resources: http://StephenCabral.com/1954 - - - Get Your Question Answered: http://StephenCabral.com/askcabral   - - - Dr. Cabral's New Book, The Rain Barrel Effect https://amzn.to/2H0W7Ge - - - Join the Community & Get Your Questions Answered: http://CabralSupportGroup.com - - -  Dr. Cabral's Most Popular At-Home Lab Tests: > Complete Minerals & Metals Test (Test for mineral imbalances & heavy metal toxicity) - - - > Complete Candida, Metabolic & Vitamins Test (Test for 75 biomarkers including yeast & bacterial gut overgrowth, as well as vitamin levels) - - - > Complete Stress, Mood & Metabolism Test (Discover your complete thyroid, adrenal, hormone, vitamin D & insulin levels) - - - > Complete Stress, Sleep & Hormones Test (Run your adrenal & hormone levels) - - - > Complete Food Sensitivity Test (Find out your hidden food sensitivities) - - - > Complete Omega-3 & Inflammation Test (Discover your levels of inflammation related to your omega-6 to omega-3 levels) - - - > View all Functional Medicine lab tests (View all Functional Medicine lab tests you can do right at home for you and your

Making it all work on top of Oracle relational databases, Andrea shares how excited she was to find open source tools when she left telcom. Apple is positioning Apple Card as a credit card by a company that doesn’t just want to get you hooked to the interest needle and drain you… not dry… but to the edge of a very long, very draining life. To that end, it’s partnering not with any long-established, long horrible bank, but with a new bank, that admittedly has a pretty horrible history all its own, but is kinda like Cingular was when the iPhone first launched — just desperate enough to let Apple do pretty much whatever Apple wants to do. It's virtual. It's titanium (!), it's rewarding, it's helpful, it's U.S. only, and it's still a credit card... with all the convenience and grotesque usury that comes with that business. Welcome to the magic. Experience the masterful songwriting and musical genius that is Cat Power (Charlyn Marie "Chan" Marshall). With 10 studio albums to her name, she's a musical force to be reckoned with. As a result of Karl Lagerfeld seeing her smoking a cigarette outside the Mercer Hotel in New York she became the spokesperson for a line of Chanel jewellery. In addition, Cat Power has been featured in commercials for Cingular and De Beers. Her version of Space Oddity by David Bowie was used in a commercial for a Lincoln car and she was involved in advertising for GAP. Apple used her version of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas in their 2013 Christmas commercial campaign. Furthermore, she has had numerous film roles. Chan also narrated the film Janis: Little Girl Blue which premiered at the 2015 Venice Film Festival. Track Listing The ex-love of my life - Cat Power Marshall has also had tragedy galore in her life. Before coming to prominence whilst working as a waitress in Atlanta her boyfriend died. Also at the time her best friend died of AIDS. This coupled with the abject use of heroin amongst her social circle led her to move to New York. She soon found a new boyfriend whom helped her to get a job as a waitress. Subsequently she discovered he was having an affair with the owner of the diner. A short relationship with model Daniel Currie ended in 2003 at a time when she was drinking heavily and abusing other substances. Three years later she started a relationship with actor Giovanni Ribisi. Consequently, she lived with him and his daughter in Los Angeles. They broke up in 2012. This break up coincided with the release of her ninth studio album Sun. In 2015 Cat Power gave birth to her first child but did not reveal the identity of the father. I cut my hair off three days [after the breakup], got on a plane to France, and finished the shit. Thanks for this wonderful suggestion Duncan, enjoy the distinguished award of being our Listener Suggestion of the Year! The playlist is broadcasting on 31/12/2018 at 09:00GMT. Keep 'em coming listeners! Listener Suggestions... We brought two incredible listener suggestions to you today. Jamie recommended Joe Purdy - Outlaws and Maddie came in with Viola Beach - Swings and Waterslides. Many thanks to those two for reaching out to us, we thrive on listener interaction. If you think you've got a track that would light up the show then please do get in touch. Joe Purdy - Kristine Joe Purdy is an American singer/songwriter who has recorded and released 14 albums over the last 15 years. Thanks to Jamie for recommending the track Outlaws. Record Box HQ has been exploring further songs of Joe Purdy's and has discovered this nugget - Kristine. In difference to Outlaws where Joe play the piano, this features him playing guitar. Joe plays both piano and guitar, along with harmonica, mandolin and banjo. If you too find Joe's subtle melodies and Americana themes alluring then you can find out much more about the man here. We are certainly looking forward to Joe touring the UK, although in all honesty we don't think he has any plans to do so. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZHoitCyaRk

On this date in 2007, Apple announced the iPhone. Here are some things you may not have known about the smartphone. The iPhone wasn’t Apple’s first foray into the portable communications market. The company introduced the Newton MessagePad in 1993. The Newton was a personal digital assistant, which was an electronic calendar, contact list and notebook. The Newton interface was based on handwriting recognition, which led to its limited appeal. The first Newton had 640 kilobytes of RAM and was powered by four AAA batteries. The Newton was discontinued in February 1998. Later that year, Apple introduced the iMac, an all-in-one computer which was designed by Jonathan Ive, who would go on to design the iPod and the iPhone. The iPod debuted in 2001, selling nearly 400 million units since then. In 2005, Apple partnered with Motorola to release the ROKR E1, the first mobile phone to feature a version of iTunes, Apple’s online music store. About a year later, Apple discontinued the project to focus on developing its own mobile phone. Apple CEO Steve Jobs made the announcement at the Macworld convention, and the iPhone was released on June 29, 2007. Apple made a deal with Cingular Wireless to be the iPhone’s exclusive carrier. Cingular changed its name to AT&T before the phone’s release. AT&T reported that almost 150,000 iPhones were activated during the first weekend it was available. In November 2007, the iPhone was released in the United Kingdom, Germany and France. Today, the iPhone is available in most countries. In 2016, Apple announced that it has sold more than 1 billion iPhones. Our question: What country saw the most recent official release of the iPhone? We'll have the answer after this break. Today is unofficially International Choreographers Day, National Apricot Day, and National Cassoulet Day. It’s the birthday of former U.S. President Richard Nixon, who was born in 1913; musician Dave Matthews, who is 50; and the Duchess of Cambridge, the former Kate Middleton, who is 35. This week in 2007, the top song in the U.S. was “Irreplaceable” by Beyonce. The No. 1 movie was “Night at the Museum,” while the novel “For One More Day” by Mitch Albom topped the New York Times Bestsellers list. Weekly question: Who was the first person to appear in a commercial for the iPhone? Submit your answer at triviapeople.com/test and we’ll add the name of the person with the first correct answer to our winner’s wall … at triviapeople.com. We'll reveal the correct answer on Friday’s episode.   Links Follow us on Twitter, Facebook or our website. Intro: On Friday, June 29, Apple started selling the new iPhone, a device that combines the functions of a cell phone, ipod and computer. In this podcast we take a look at the iPhone from a users perspective - Mike Q got in line the first day and purchased one! Here's an outline of the interview:- waiting in line + the purchase- activation- first impressions- hardware- screen- software- camera- keyboard- email- web browser- voice quality- phone- data network (edge + wifi)- ear buds- iPodAT&T (Cingular) has the exclusive rights for the phone for the next two years with current phones running on AT&Ts EDGE network when there is not a Wi-Fi connection available. Current pricing plans, with unlimited data, start at $59.99 and run up to $219.99 per month. There are a few things that some are concerned about, here's a list:The cost - it is expensive! The AT&T EDGE network is slow when compared to Verizon's 3G  network.  This is a concern for some but I could deal with that. Most places I go now I find Wi-Fi available. There is currently no Java or Flash support which will cause a problem when viewing websites that incorporate these technologies. One of the  biggest concerns is the small storage capacity. Later versions will likely have some sort of removable storage device like the SD cards used in digital cameras.Lack of a physical keyboard the iPhone uses a technology Apple calls multitouch to display a keyboard on the screen. Once people get used to, seems to be working just fine.At this time you can only use Apple's Safari web browser and not other browsers like Firefox. These issues are minor for most users and overall this looks like a great first generation product for Apple.

When Mike McCue founded Tellme in 1999 its initial product was a voice-driven information service what might be termed a ”voice portal.” Today the company's voice-recognition systems power directory assistance services from AT&T Verizon and Cingular along with automated 800-number customer help lines at companies like Merrill Lynch and Federal Express. But McCue still harbors dreams of a broader voice-driven web one which will provide consumers with new ways of using the phone to interact with the universe of information. He discussed this vision and others during a recent interview with Knowledge at Wharton in Tellme's Mountain View Calif. offices. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
