Part two of Hari Scott Whitmore's interview with his tabla teacher and Indian classical legend Daniel Paul. Daniel is a captivating storyteller, and he shares about his time with masters such as Ali akar Khan and Zakir Hussain, the origins and history of Indian Classical music, and the inherent sacredness of tabla rhythm. Whether a lover of classical or new to the form, everyone can benefit from this episode and gain a deeper appreciation for this ancient and sacred art form. Daniel Paul is an India Fulbright award-winning tabla drummer and graduate of the Ali Akbar College of Music, who for three decades has been accompanying many of today's top kirtan singers on the international chanting circuit. From his long association accompanying Grammy nominee Jai Uttal and the exotic global vocalist Gina Salá, Daniel has also toured South America backing the soft prayers of Snatam Kaur and throughout North America contributing to the rocking chants of Dave Stringer and the Guru Ganesha Band. Daniel has maintained a varied eclectic career from music director for the Off-Broadway play "Ghashiram Kotwal" to decades of informal kirtan in the jungles and beaches of Maui. From Carnegie Hall to the Waikiki Bandshell, in a cave under old Jerusalem, to the temples and all night music festivals of India, whether through kirtan, classical sitar and sarod, Kathak dance and bansuri flute recitals, or his "Rhythms of the Heart" workshops, Daniel continues to introduce new audiences to the magic of the tabla. Polygon Alpha Podcast - Episode 0026 - March 24, 2023TimeSwap - Ricsson Ngo, Harshita Singh, Ameeth DevadasLinkTree - https://linktr.ee/polygonalphapodcastYouTube - https://www.youtube.com/c/PolygonTV~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~TimeSwap* Decentralized and oracle-less fixed time preference protocol* Timeswap is a fixed time preference protocol for users to manage their ERC20 tokens over discrete time.* It works as a zero liquidation money market and options market in one. * Users can lend tokens into the pool to earn fixed yields.* They can also borrow or leverage tokens against other tokens, without the fear of liquidation.* Liquidity providers (different from lenders) create markets for any pair of tokens, adding liquidity, and being the counterparty to all lenders and borrowers of the protocol.* In return, they earn transaction fees from both sides of the market.* Timeswap utilizes a unique constant sum options specification and an ingenious duration weighted constant product automated market maker (AMM) similar to Uniswap AMM.* It is designed to not utilize oracles, is capital efficient, permissionless to deploy, game theoretically sound in any state of the market, and is easy to use.* Timeswap works on a duration weighted constant product automated market maker (AMM)Key Features of Timeswap* Permissionless - Liquidity providers can create pools for any ERC20 pair, without permission.* Oracle-less - Timeswap works without any oracles and it discovers the interest rate and collateral factor through free market arbitrage.* Most importantly, this makes the tokens safe and immune to oracle manipulation attacks.* Perfect Price Range - Timeswap V2 has implemented an ingenious feature where the collateral factor is always over-collateralized i.e. it stays above one hundred percent no matter how large the lending transactions are. Under-collateralized loan by definition is a guaranteed arbitrage.* By limiting the price range to where it is always over-collateralized, increases the price efficiency and lower slippage costs for both lenders and borrowers.* Self Healing - Timeswap's well-designed free market AMM has the ability to self-heal its state and price based on the preference of the free market no matter what the market price may become or how fast it changes.* It does not matter how fast the spot price, interest price, and collateral factor of the pair go down or goes up.* It does not matter if it is a bear market or a bull market.* Symmetric Market - Timeswap V2 has a sound AMM having a perfect symmetry for lending and borrowing.* This leads to efficient pricing for the market.* Lenders can withdraw their funds before maturity given a small penalty, while borrowers can pay their debt with a discount before maturity.* Liquidity providers can also withdraw their liquidity before maturity.* Bidirectional Pool - In Timeswap V2, the pairs are now bidirectional, giving it greater capital efficiency and flexibility.* Lenders can lend either token A and/or token B into the same pool, while borrowers can leverage on token A and/or token B in the same pool, using token A and/or token B as collateral.* Gas Efficient - Timeswap does not use the Black-Scholes formula to determine the price of the option.* Instead, the protocol provides the price based on a simple constant product formula very similar to Uniswap.* This makes the protocol more gas efficient.* This also makes it very easy for anyone to intuitively create money markets for their tokens, without the need of learning complicated financial formulas.* Past Independent AMM - Timeswap is designed to be past-independent and not historically biased on the pricing.* It does not have any historical data stored in the AMM that determines the price, which gives it zero past data bias, and pricing that perfectly follows the present decisions of the free market.* Capital Efficient Liquidity -Timeswap V2's new design improves the liquidity capital efficiency by more than double, making it more lucrative for liquidity providers to join the protocol.* The revenue mechanics and divergent cost mechanics have also been improved to further make liquidity provision more profitable.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Thank you so much for watching the video, if you've not subscribed to the channel please do! We worked over nine months for Ready. It is essentially a love story with the backdrop of college, urban and rural family, road journey and forest. The story takes place in a span of 3 months. This film flashes through action, entertainment and romance and has the stamina to impress the universal audience. Dhee and Dubai Seenu films are more like action entertainers. I wanted to do a love story like Anandam with a DDLJ kind of good family values. I loved the subject when writer Gopi Mohan narrated me the first half of the film. I told him that most of my films were suffering with not-so-good second half syndrome. I told that him that we would not start the project unless the second half is properly worked on. Then he brought a new perspective to the second half and it was exciting. Kona Venkat and Gopi Mohan suggested that I should do this script with a big hero. Dubai Seenu was such a combination proposal king of a film which was done in a hurry. I wanted an apt actor for this subject instead of a big hero. And I had Ram in my mind. I suggested his name to them. At that same time, Sravanthi Ravi Kishore offered to produce a film with me. I told Sravanthi Ravi Kishore that our kind of filmmaking would come with a contrast and that I wanted the film to be done in my way and with my team. He gladly accepted. He also gave us complete freedom. I could convert the script into a celluloid bonanza. The runtime came out to be 2 hours and 45 minutes. We shot the film for 115 working days. Incidentally, Ready is the film that took most number of working days of all my films. It is due to the huge casting involving various character artists and comedians. Genelia's energy is endless. Actually, YVS Chowdary wanted to bring Genelia as my heroine in Devadas. Even for Jagadam, we tried. On both occasions, we didn't get her. Coming to ready, we didn't think of any other alternative. We were completely focused on Genelia, only Genelia. She is the most professional actress I have ever seen, both as an actor and part of the production. Her interest in flawless modulation is amazing. Unlike other heroines who just do it away with lip sink, she takes extra care for perfection - Ram

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected every country around the world in a manner not seen since the Great Financial Crisis of 2008, and is perhaps one of the most transformative events in decades. Most countries and governments have played catch-up to the pandemic, trying to get a handle on case numbers after an explosive increase. But a few places: Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, New Zealand, Australia, Vietnam and China appear to have kept the virus largely under control. Confronting COVID-19: A Strategic Playbook for Leaders and Decision Makers (Marshall Cavendish International Asia, 2020) by Devadas Krishnadas is one of the first attempts to seriously study the public responses to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as plot out some of the possible economic, geopolitical and social changes that may arise. More information on the book can be found on its official microsite. In this interview, Mr. Devadas and I talk about what policies worked to control COVID, how the region will develop, and how business and social operations might change as a result of the pandemic. We also talk about how recent events since the book’s publication affect its conclusions. Devadas Krishnadas is CEO of the Future-Moves Group, with more than 20 years of experience in the public and private sectors. He previously held senior positions in the Singapore government, such as in the Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, and Ministry of Home Affairs. “Confronting COVID-19” is his fifth book. Dr. Happymon Jacob speaks with Dr. David Devadas (Senior Journalist and author of ‘The Story of Kashmir’ and ‘The Generation of Rage in Kashmir’) about his two books. Dr. Devadas argues that one of the reasons why insurgency has returned to the valley most recently is because both the state and central government apparatus have failed to capitalize on the impact of PM Vajpayee’s outreach to Kashmir. He argues that policymakers have successively failed to capture the pulse on the ground, often focused on projecting ‘normalcy’ in the state for the rest of the country. The conversation also looks at how a rapidly changing social geography, influence of smartphones, problems of education, and international war on terror, etc., have influenced a new generation in Kashmir, which is vehemently anti-India. Dr. Happymon Jacob speaks with Dr. David Devadas (Senior Journalist and author of ‘The Story of Kashmir' and ‘The Generation of Rage in Kashmir') about his two books. Dr. Devadas argues that one of the reasons why insurgency has returned to the valley most recently is because both the state and central government apparatus have failed to capitalize on the impact of PM Vajpayee's outreach to Kashmir. He argues that policymakers have successively failed to capture the pulse on the ground, often focused on projecting ‘normalcy' in the state for the rest of the country. The conversation also looks at how a rapidly changing social geography, influence of smartphones, problems of education, and international war on terror, etc., have influenced a new generation in Kashmir, which is vehemently anti-India. The conversation tries to address some common misperceptions about the insurgency in the valley and suggest ways in which stability could be established.
