Join us for the next 5* preview! Nicole, Spike and Catherine dive into both the 4 and 5* at Luhmühlen picking who they think will take the titles this weekend. Tune in as they discuss:
William Fox-Pitt needs no introduction to Eventing fans: The British 3-Day Event Rider's many awards include multiple Olympic, World Equestrian Games, and European Championship medals. In 2011, he became the first rider to win five different five-star events, having won the Burghley Horse Trials a record six times, Rolex Kentucky three times, Pau twice, the Badminton Horse Trials twice, and the Luhmühlen Horse Trials once. He was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2018 Birthday Honours. In March of 2024, we were fortunate to have William cross the pond to the USA and teach a series of jumping clinics. In this episode of “In Stride,” Sinead is joined by 5* event rider and equestrian business owner Frankie Thieriot Stutes. Frankie Thieriot Stutes is an accomplished event rider and owner of Athletux, a consulting agency that helps develop and manage equestrian businesses. After working in the NHL, for NIKE, and as the Director of Communications for a Fitness, Media, Sports Company, and Freelancer for the USEA as an on-camera reporter, Frankie decided to start Athletux in 2011. With her horse Chatwin, Frankie was crowned USEF National 4* Champion at Fair Hill in 2018 and finished fourth at the 2019 Luhmühlen CCI5*-L. Frankie was awarded the 2018 Rebecca Broussard International Developing Rider's Grant, allowing her to work with dressage legend Lilo Fore. Frankie is now focusing on developing Athletux, commentating at horse trials, and helping up-and-coming riders navigate sponsorships, find owners, and start syndicates. In this episode, Frankie discusses various topics related to the business side of eventing, including: • Helping businesses work with the rider to navigate advertising and sponsorship. • The difference in prize money and sponsorships for english and western disciplines. • Her role in US Eventing TV and the politics behind livestreaming events. • The importance of having a connection with the horse and being involved in the day-to-day care. • Not letting comparison change the system that works for a specific horse. Join Frankie and Sinead in this exciting conversation about the business side of equestrian sports.

So, I wasn't 100% sure to put this one up as a podcast or not because the quality isn't great. It was done on Skype, which is not my favourite form of interviewing. I'd rather do it face to face, but it is Ingrid..one of the greatest equestrians ever!! I was in Sydney and Ingrid was loading horses and driving her truck in Germany, so in that sense, modern technology is awesome. And Ingrid is absolutely worth listening to. She always has so many positive and motivating things to say. This might not be a podcast for the car. You might need to take a little 20 minute break with a cup of tea or coffee, but it's very well worth it. I spoke to Ingrid just after her 2019 European eventing individual and team gold in Luhmühlen. Ingrid talks about competing as an older athlete, Bobby and how he's changed over the years, what he's like cross country and his one times changes! How to build trust and a good partnership with your horse. How her training varies between her eventers and dressage horses. Franziskus and his big personality. Advice for young riders. Her famous helmet cam. The importance of fairness to the horse. AND having a balanced life and an open mind! She's just awesome!
And just like that, it was all over. Finally back in the UK, Matt and Rachel reflect on the final day in Luhmühlen that led to Great Britain winning a team silver medal and Kitty King finishing as the highest placed British rider. Plus, Tina Cook shares her thoughts after her clear showjumping round.
The adrenaline has been running high all day as the Team GBR riders tackle Luhmühlen's tough cross-country track. There's been elation and heartbreak, so Matt takes over the microphone to catch up with Pippa Funnell, Kitty King and Oliver Townend after their stellar rounds.
Dressage day two? Smashed it! With four British riders in the top ten and the team currently in silver medal position, Matt and Rachel recap what's happened on Friday in Luhmühlen, including the tests from Tina Cook, Kitty King and Oliver Townend.
Team GBR have landed in Luhmühlen for the FEI Eventing European Championships! As the weather oscillates from scorching sunshine to tempestuous thunderstorms, Matt and Rachel reflect on what's coming up this week and the key role that grooms play in a championships team. Rachel speaks to Chloe Fry, who's here as groom for Kitty King and Vendredi Biats, about her first championship experience and how she keeps her charge's grey coat looking its best for the first horse inspection.
With the European Championships fast approaching and some fantastic results from British riders to celebrate, Matt and Rachel can barely contain their excitement. After hearing some updates from the team at the Ready Steady Tokyo test event in Japan, including para-equestrian dressage rider Natasha Baker, they catch up with leading equestrian photographer Jon Stroud, who'll be joining them out in Rotterdam and Luhmühlen, to hear about his career and what it's like to work at a major championships.
Michael Jung needs no introduction. The eventing superstar won individual and team gold at the London Olympics and individual gold and team silver at Rio on his super horse, Sam. He's won at Kentucky, Badminton, Luhmühlen and Burghley and has been inducted into the Eventing Rider Association Hall of Fame. In this interview he talks about how he manages all his horses, why he does so much show jumping, the different types of eventing horse and what makes a great rider. We find out how the German champion remains so cool and calm in the start box, what he does on the day of a competition and how to manage the eventing season. We also talk about past and future champions. The background music is courtesy of Hagen Horses and Dreams!

The team talk all things Luhmühlen and the big result for #girlpower with women sweeping the entire top five. Then it's on to Arville for Leg 3 of Event Rider Masters in Belgium. Upsilon and Cillnabradden Evo will face off yet again. Will one prevail, or will another horse play spoiler to top the podium?
Julia Krajewski has been quietly creeping up the German eventing ranks. The 29-year-old has successfully competed right through the levels from Pony competitions, and in more recent years has represented Germany at Nations Cups. It was in 2016 at the Rio Olympics that she was thrust centre stage, being asked at the last minute to go from reserve position to take up a team spot, replacing Andreas Ostholt. Although Julia didn't have the most wonderful time at Rio, the Germans went on to win team silver. Since then, Julia has really experienced the highest highs and the lowest lows the sport has to offer. At the end of 2016, she enjoyed a win with Chipmunk, at the horse's first CCI3*, at Strzegom, as well as her first 4* win last year at Luhmühlen on her Olympic mount Samourai du Thot. That was followed by another team silver at the Europeans in Strzegom, however, Samourai du Thot had tested positive to a controlled substance and Germany was stripped of their team silver. Julia has come back this season bolder than ever. A win at Bramham in the CCI3* on Chipmunk and a podium with Sam in the CIC3* at Wiesbaden before this weekend winning the German Championships on Sam at Luhmühlen on her dressage score of 19.9. I spoke to Julia at last year's Bundeschampionate. We talk about her role as the German national juniors coach, how she got into eventing herself as a youngster and why she likes the eventing scene. She goes into how Germany manages its event horses and the reasons behind that, why Chris Bartle is so missed by the team and what its like to be on a team with legends Ingrid, Michi and Bettina (you only need their first names!). Julia describes the newly discovered benefits she gained from rider fitness work and talks about why she likes to “walk” the cross country course on a bike. And…like most top riders, she advocates lots and lots of hard work to reach the podium. The fully transcribed interview can be found here: http://www.horsemagazine.com/thm/2017/11/julia-krajewski-a-very-eventful-life/
Sam is on his way to Luhmühlen to compete not one but TWO horses, and the team are way overly excited as they discuss the red hot field we will see compete in Germany this week. With the Germany heavy-hitters competing in the CIC3*, the CCI4* is wide open for another nation to scoop the win. Will the incredibly strong British contingent taste victory? There is much to discuss!
Rebecca Luhm lives in North Carolina, is a wife, and a mom to three children. We talk about how her running journey has had many ups and downs throughout life. Even through the hills and the valleys, Rebecca has been consistently running now since the summer of 2014. She shares how she makes running a priority and how she fits it into her busy schedule, often working out at the YMCA. We talk about a couple of the 10 half marathons she has completed, including a significant race this fall, in which she ran for a special cause, the Team Drea Foundation. Rebecca also shares about how her running teaches her kids life lessons, how she started a running group, and why she likes sharing her running story and journey. On the latest episode of the Horseware Eventing Podcast it is all about #GirlPower as Nicole & Jenni chat to the newly crowned Luhmühlen 4* winner Julia Krajewski. In an exclusive interview we get to hear firsthand just how the weekend played out for the German superstar, who secured her first 4* title with Samourai du Thot, the horse bought as a 5-year-old with little trot but a big attitude! Talking everything from how you celebrate the biggest win of your career, #WonderHorse Chipmunk, bouncing back from Rio and of course all of the EquiRatings facts & figures this is an episode not to be missed. On top of all this the latest Horseware competition winner is crowned ... congratulations Lindsay Berreth! We hope that you enjoy this as much as we did - while the boys are away the girls will play! Julia is definitely one to watch looking ahead to the Europeans so why not follow her on Instagram & Twitter to keep up to date with all her latest news. Safe to say Nicole & Jenni have a new BFF...!
Diarm never thought he would miss Sam, but having to put up with Nicole and Jenni on his own proved challenging. While Sam is on a beach somewhere, the team pick through the bones of a tough Bramham - and a history-making win for Yoshi. Nicole goes on and on about Willa as usual. We also look forward to this weekend's three and four star from Luhmühlen where the best horses in the world all seem to be going up against each other...in the three star. Diarm picks Julia to win the four star but the girls manage to beat him to it.
