Our God is amazingly generous, often giving us undeserved blessings. However, He also frequently asks us to gain a reward through work. As we try to reflect God's character to others, how should these two principles play out in our relationships? When should we practice no-strings-attached generosity, and when should we let someone sow and reap their own reward? We invite you to join Micah, Christa, and our special guest Heather Johnston as we dive into this challenging topic!=============================SHOW NOTES=============================

Kristina Brummer and Heather Johnston are back with the second episode in the Grow Your Heart Centered Business Series. This episode Heather introduces the Five Projects Rule, a concept discussed by Charlie Gilkey, the founder of Productive Flourishing, in his book Start Finishing. This concept or rule was discovered on Jenny Blake's podcast Free Time. This episode came on the heels of our first episode. We started talking about time management and taking on too many projects. We hit record once we realized that it was a perfect conversation for all of the heart-centered leaders and entrepreneurs. The Five Projects Rule is a great framework for better management of our project and helps to create an understanding of what we need to own versus what we can pass on to team members, or with home projects, our partners and family members..Bios:Heather JohnstonIn the summer of 2019, Heather took a leap, without a safety net. She was burnt out and left her job of over a decade to take a chance on herself. Heather Johnston is Founder and President of JH Israel and the U.S. Israel Education Association. Her 25-year involvement with the nation of Israel has afforded her a unique position to work dynamically inside the U.S.-Israel relationship as an educator and thought leader. Heather is an author and world-renowned speaker in biblical prophecy on the Jewish-Christian relationship and modern Israel. JH Israel supports Israel's National Leadership Center in the city of Ariel. In 2010, Heather, in partnership with former Ariel Mayor Ron Nachman, built and established the National Leadership Center (NLC), which facilitates groundbreaking programs that have given more than 85,000 Israeli and Arab youth the opportunity to meet and participate in an unparalleled experiential learning adventure. Heather is on The Wow Factor this week to share how she was inspired by her time at JH Ranch and how that experience led to her work at JH Israel and the National Leadership Center in Ariel. She describes some of the amazing programs available at the National Leadership Center and describes their goal of helping participants learn about themselves through a lens of Biblical values and historical narratives. Heather also shares the premise behind her book Uncommon Favor and how she uses personal narrative to take the reader deeper and make crucial decisions about where they are in life. “We find God at the center of everything.” - Heather Johnston “When God's presence manifests, he comes to heal, he separates you out, he summons you, and nothing else matters when that happens.” - Heather Johnston “When the presence of the Lord comes into your life in a manifest dynamic way — He reorients your life, He removes what's worthless, He takes you into a place where you actually can know Him.” - Heather Johnston This Week on The Wow Factor: How Heather's parents gave her the foundations for all of her future How she was inspired by her time at JH Ranch and how that experience led to her work at JH Israel and the National Leadership Center in Ariel What chutzpah means and why it truly takes chutzpah to pioneer and sustain a project Why Heather feels it is so important to understand not only where the biblical roots of our Christian heritage are, but to have a keen understanding of where we are in history Heather's experience of the needs of Jewish Ukrainians in the world today Heather describes how Prime Minister Naftali Bennett played a dynamic role in helping Israel return to their spiritual identity and help high school students be able to relate to God and their heritage. The importance of the ecclesia in worship and how it brings us together as disciples Heather's thoughts on what the people of Israel need today Why Heather decided to produce a personal journal to go alongside her book and how she hopes it will help others understand what it means to be a modern-day disciple Heather Johnston's Words of Wisdom: Authentic leadership has in mind that you're seeking the success of others rather than yourself, and to do that, we must put God at the center of everything. Melody gets John up to speed on all the news he missed while away. John spent last week visiting Chicago, enjoying their transit system and sampling the original Uptown. John explains why commemorating the second anniversary of George Floyd's murder feels off. We talk about last week's remarkable public hearing where city of Minneapolis staff testified against Mayor Frey's nomination of Heather Johnston to be city coordinator. Current and former staff described the racism they face in the workplace and how Johnston, currently the interim coordinator, has failed to correct a longstanding problem within the coordinator's office. We talk about the ongoing saga of the Hennepin Avenue reconstruction approval and why we just need to approve those full-time bus lanes already. Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 15-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East, and the Jewish world, from Sunday through Thursday. Diplomatic correspondent Lazar Berman and news editor Amy Spiro join host Amanda Borschel-Dan in today's packed episode. Also included at the end of the program is a brief excerpt from a previous 2020 podcast with President Isaac Herzog in which he speaks about his mother Aura Herzog, who died Sunday night aged 97. We begin our conversation with an update from Spiro about the Western Wall compromise and where it stands today. What recent changes have brought it to the news, and will anything move forward under the new government? Next, Berman sheds light on a little-known Alabama-based Christian group called the United States-Israel Education Association. With a small staff of only 10 paid employees, the group has been instrumental in shaping US policy and budgeting on several key defense measures, as well as a new push for pharma in the MidEast. We then hear about the bizarrely convoluted race to replace Herzog as head of the Jewish Agency. What has gone awry and what do four of the front-runners stand for? Finally, Spiro speaks about Israel's Winter Olympics figure skating hopeful, Hailey Kops. The American-born Orthodox immigrant has paired up with Israeli veteran Evgeni Krasnopolski to become one of 19 couples to qualify for the Olympics. Discussed articles include: Will the Western Wall compromise deal ever be realized? From Iron Dome to supply chains, US Christian group quietly shaping US-Israel ties As process stalls, candidates to lead Jewish Agency warn of urgent world challenges Orthodox New Jersey teen is Israel's newest Olympic skating hope Aura Herzog, wife and mother to two Israeli presidents, dies at 97 Subscribe to The Times of Israel Daily Briefing on iTunes, Spotify, PlayerFM, Google Play, or wherever you get your podcasts. She had the opportunity to travel the world, interpreting trends from runway to street, sourcing fabrics and factories, and building clothing brands and marketing strategies. Alison loves interior design as it allows her to use so many of her learned skills from retail. her corporate roles allowed her the opportunity to manage large projects, and above all be customer obsessed.”At Ripple Interiors She likes to work with home owners that are starting over, transitioning their homes as they become empty nesters. Too busy to shop, or take meetings to review story boards, pick furniture, lighting, pillows and paint color. Originally, the T-Dance version of Beach House was going to be two very long mixes, but I decided to go ahead and break it up into three. Granted, anyone with a little know-how can stack each one right after the other because the whole thing mixes flawlessly. I spared nothing in this mix and you can rest assured that you're getting the latest and greatest from this summer's house music scene. All the usual suspects are included: from top-notch producers like DJ Spen and the Muthafunkaz, Richard Earnshaw, Mark Picchiotti, Joey Negro, Moto Blanco and 7th Heaven to top-notch talents like Lisa Shaw, Heather Johnston, Michelle Weeks, Dawn Tallman, Shena and newcomer Mishal Moore, you will want for not. Granted, you may notice that DJ Meme is nowhere to be found. That's because his remix of "Sittin' on Top of the World" by the Sunburst Band doesn't show up until next week. Such is life. I've also included a fabulous Frankie Knuckles remix of "Rock with You" the closest I'll come to honoring the memory of Michael Jackson. While the overall tone of this first mix is pretty subdued and laid-back, I jolt you back into reality with an updated version of Evelyn Thomas' classic 'High Energy' courtesy of the always fabulous Almighty Production team, late in the mix. I employ a similar tactic in mix three just to keep people on their toes. Overall, this is one fresh and funky mix with a lot of soul that's perfect for relaxing around the pool or at the beach. I'll try to get everything out by Friday, but I'm not making any promises. Until then.enjoy!
