Sandi gets candid about her career journey in data management and provides practical tidbits for building data governance ground up in any organization. She shares her broad experiences having worked in data governance roles at various capacities in a decentralized as well as centralized business function and explains not just 'the how' but especially 'The Why' of Data Strategy and Data Governance. She simplifies data cataloging and shares its critical role in data management. She brings her years of knowledge and experience in various data organizations to pinpoint why data standards need to be relevant. She shares the rewarding experience working for industry organizations and underscores importance of cultivating relationships and networking to get to meet and learn from various other data enthusiasts. She provides invaluable tips and insights on how to enrich your data career while balancing with the demands and changes in a forever evolving data landscape. Key Takeaways: You can't try to solve every data problem so make some tough decisions on what you can and can't do. This is where the strategy and roadmap comes into play. You need to organize the work and often stretch it out over a 3-5 year plan A smart and efficient way of keeping up with the changing data landscape is to understand organization's business strategy along with constant participation and learning – with people within your organization and outside of your organization For every Data management discipline that you include as part of your data strategy, you need rules and standards for how to go about performing these data management capabilities. Data Governance will get engrained when it is backed up with a leadership support, a data-governance driven mindset and when one customizes the governance roadmap based on the company's maturity. Data Cataloging is much like Yelp and is the gold standard of metadata management – making metadata accessible and informative to non-technical data users. Data Cataloging can help with tracking and scaling data lineage, remove manual aspects of Metadata management and shrink timeframe of creating data More about the guest, Sandi Perillo-Simons: Sandi is a seasoned veteran in multiple data management disciplines such as data strategy, data governance and stewardship, data quality, metadata management, and data security/access. She is also a Professional Member of National Speakers Association, a Certified Virtual Presenter, and a Prosci Certified Change Practitioner. Her other credentials include two degrees from Indiana University and a "World's Best Mom" coffee mug. Highlights from the Show Amy is a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion trainer and consultant As her career progressed and she get deeper into DEI content, she kept feeling stuck on the idea of what she could do personally to have an impact This lead to her first book, Networking on Bias, which she published in 2018, which is all about how our own network is the best place for us to demonstrate our commitment to DEI The time is right for this focus with the way the landscape is shifting from the way things look 100 years ago The market also looks different, so when Amy talks to traditional players who haven't embraced DEI yet, she helps them to see how much more diverse the pool of consumers is, and how not serving them means your business isn't winning If 80% of insurance agents are white males, but only 40% of businesses are owned by white males, you have 80% of the distribution going after 40% of the market, and 60% of the market is left unserved Amy focuses her work on emerging and aspiring leaders since they're the future Amy leaves a card behind when doing talks that asks that you think about who's in the room, who's not in the room and whose voice am I not listening to Geography means less and less, if anything, especially as we all became more digital during lockdowns, so the effect of change is stronger now, including when we make changes on equity (and ESG more broadly) I asked about Diversity of Thought, which Amy challenged The term can be used in place of true diversity Amy raised the Rocket Rule, hitting an issue like the famous dance troupe where all of the dancers had to be within a tight range of height Does your company have an unspoken Rocket Rule? Do leaders come from similar backgrounds, have gone to a small set of schools, etc The more diversity we have in leadership, the more profitable the company will be, as data proves (not just in line roles or more junior ranks) When people come with different tools to do the job, we get the job done better and faster than if we all had the same backgrounds When looking at our networks, Amy often asks how many people are from outside the same industry as you, and people are always surprised at how concentrated their networks are within a single industry Great ideas come from chance encounters and serendipity Amy encourages people to listen to different podcasts, follow different people, read books by others that are different from what you normally get exposed to, etc Show up in spaces where those spaces aren't created for you so you hear totally new perspectives and get outside your comfort zone a bit You can get more of Amy's insights at her company's website, leadatanylevel.com, including her online courses and access to her training, consulting and speaking services This episode is brought to you by Medallia (Medallia.com), and the book series, "The Future of Insurance: From Disruption to Evolution" by Bryan Falchuk (future-of-insurance.com). We had the pleasure of interviewing Bossi of Cosmic Gate over Zoom audio! GRAMMY ® nominated trance legends Cosmic Gate aka Nic Chagall and Bossi have proved to be a matchless musical union. The last 20 Years set them on the course to becoming Germany’s most enduringly successful electronic music duo. Smashing the biggest festivals and road-blocking clubs worldwide, got them highest climber on DJ Mag’s Top 100 chart and racked up plentiful other awards & nominations along the way. Numerous Singles like ‘am2pm’, ‘Fall Into You’ and ‘Falling Back’, countless Remixes and 9 Artist Albums, including scene-defining classics like ‘Be Your Sound’, ‘Fire Wire’ and ‘Exploration of Space’, their star on dance music’s walk of fame has long since been laid.Introduction: From their very first drumbeat, through to the release of ‘[Forward Ever Backward Never]’ – their ‘20 Years’ commemorating longplayer, Cosmic Gate’s Nic Chagall and Bossi have proved to be a matchless musical union. A chance encounter in a Cologne recording studio two decades ago set them on the course to becoming Germany’s most enduringly successful electronic music duo.Their original productions have taken them to the highest reaches of streaming lists and download charts, whilst their remixography eclectically includes everyone from revered Hollywood composers like James Horner (Avatar/Titanic) to in-scene demigods like Armin van Buuren and Tiësto. Nic & Bossi’s behind-decks-brotherhood has triggered critical mass in a now uncountable number of countries. They’ve dominated electronic music capitals and spun at the veritable A-through-Z of major festivals. In the process they’ve picked up a Grammy nomination (in 2019’s Best Remix category), become the highest climber on DJ Mag’s Top 100 chart and racked up numerous other awards & nominations along the way. Driven by their critically applauded albums, Spotify-busting singles like ‘am2pm’, ‘Fall Into You’ and ‘Falling Back’ (each with 5million streams to their name) and scene-defining classics like ‘Be Your Sound’, ‘Fire Wire’ and ‘Exploration of Space’ (10million Spotify streams), their star on dance music’s walk of fame has long since been laid.As DJs, kinetically bouncing off the others energy, week in, week out, Cosmic Gate continue to push floors to supernova. In North America they’ve smashed the biggest festivals like EDC, Ultra, Electric Zoo, IleSoniq, Spring Awakening, Paradiso, Global Dance, Veld, Dreamstate and more. Road-blocking clubs and events like Space (both Miami & New York), Governors Island NY, LA’s Palladium and the Great Hall at Brooklyn’s Avant Gardner has become their SOP. Floors have felt similar pressure in hotspots worldwide. Among them have been Tomorrowlands in Belgium & Brazil, ASOTs internationally, Creamfields, Ministry & SW4 in the UK & Ultra Europe, Untold Romania, Mysteryland & Luminosity in Holland and Parookaville, Boothaus & Nature One in their native Germany. Their WMC/MMW Miami Sunset Cruises have long since passed into clubbing legend and the pair famously sold out a 2000 capacity solo show on the island of Honolulu.Grammy nomination: the final month of 2018 Nic & Bossi were nominated for their first Grammy award. Selected in the Best Remixer category, their work on Gabriel & Dresden and Sub Teal’s ‘Only Road’ from a year earlier drew nomination praise from the academy. The remix was further described by DJ Mag as “masterful”, with “alchemic sequencing”, “shrewd use of context” and was “wily” in its “sound design”C.G. Productions & Albums: In their homeland, Cosmic Gate has maintained a consistently high level of mainstream success, charting no fewer than 7 top 40 singles. Further afield ‘Fire Wire’ signalled the pair’s arrival, becoming a pan-European chart smash and hitting the top ten in a number of countries.Albums have, and continue to play a substantial part in their production career. Most recently that’s been evidenced by ‘20 Years’, which was released in August of 2019.Significantly subtitled ’[Forward Ever Backward Never’], it was conceived as an album that innovatively took their body of work to new floors and audiences. Including new Cosmic Gate productions, it also incorporated 2.0 renovations of CG anthems. Further, it featured reworks of tunes personally inspirational to CG, as well as new takes from other artists on classic Cosmic moments. Its first single releases brought a brace of Beatport hits with the MINT-playlisted ‘Come With Me’ and the “profound” (said DJ Mag) “9/10” ranked ‘Need To Be Loved’ both hitting the #1 position. The album also gave rise to the 20 Years live tour, which to date has reached 30 cities globally. Of the tour’s LA stop, EDM.com said: “Los Angeles played host to one of their biggest shows on the tour where they performed at the legendary Hollywood Palladium. Their extended three-hour set included guest performances by JES, Eric Lumiere, and Emma Hewitt, who have lent their vocals to some of the duo’s biggest tracks”. The Dallas Observer meanwhile hailed their Stereo Live, Houston show as a “cruise through two decades of varied, quality productions.’20 Years’ was preceded by the two ‘Chapters’ of the longplayer ‘Materia’ – the release of which musically bookended the group’s 2017. It was the album mothership for a clutch of new Cosmic Gate singles and releases. Among them were ‘Fall Into You’, ‘Edge Of Life’, ‘Noom’, the Beatport #1 ‘am2pm’, ‘AR’, ‘Dynamic’ (“melody and grit in equal proportions” said DJ Mag’s 8/10 review) and others. Following their ‘Start To Feel’ long-player (more info below), the release scored a MIXMAG Album of the Month plaudit, representing – said the magazine – an “impressive”, “roots-return” to their origin sound. Upon their release the ‘Materias’ were met with comparable sales success, hitting iTunes’ top 10s in 9 countries and reaching the #2 spot in both the United States and Canada. The period 2015 – 2016 saw Cosmic Gate continue to embrace the collaboration medium through a number of high-profiles co-production projects. Among them was ‘Embargo’, which was the result of studio time shared with Armin van Buuren. The track was subsequently featured on the latter’s 2015  album, ‘Embrace’. A year later Nic & Bossi teamed up with Ferry Corsten to record ‘Event Horizon’. Garnering substantial praise from fans, DJs and press alike, it topped Beatport’s Trance chart in October of 2016.Released in the summer of 2014, Cosmic Gate used their sixth album ‘Start To Feel’ to inspire fans to experience electronic music in a “deeper, wider, more complete way”. It’s first single – the Eric Lumiere-sung ‘Falling Back’ – was described as “9.5/10” scoring “anthem in a can” by the UK’s DJ Mag. Further singles including ‘So Get Up’, Yai (Here We Go Again’) and ‘Fair Game’ cemented its reputation. Upon release, the album hit the iTunes’ top 10 in the US, Canada, Germany and Russia. A MIXMAG 9/10 rated release, ‘Start To Feel’ was hailed as “audio chemistry and production physics in their most quantum forms”. It also catalyzed the Start To Feel bus tour, which famously saw Nic & Bossi perform 13 shows in just 16 days, coast-to-coast across North America, playing to over 20,000 fans.In 2011 the duo released ‘Wake Your Mind’. It produced ‘Be Your Sound’ – a single that MIXMAG suggested: “finally unseats ‘Fire Wire’ as Cosmic Gate’s best-known-for track”. With its official video just off 16 million views on YouTube, it bagged an IDMA nomination in 2012, (with the JES-sung ‘Flying Blind’ following suit a year later).Cosmic Gate’s album movements began with ‘Rythm & Drums’ (in 2001), ‘No More Sleep’ which followed a year later and ‘Earth Mover’ in ‘06. The latter was the album platform for the club hits ‘Analog Feel’, ‘Should Have Known’ and the IDMA-nominated ‘I Feel Wonderful’. ‘Sign of the Times’ arrived 3 years later, bringing the vocal anthem ‘Body of Conflict’, a further IDMA-nod for ‘Not Enough Time’ and spurred (a then near unheard of) 43-place leap up DJ Mag’s Top 100 chart. It also edged the pair towards a more open-plan electronic music style (later to fully manifest in ‘Wake Your Mind’ and ‘Start To Feel’).Cosmic Gate’s Wake Your Mind marque was subsequently spun off into a number of other areas. WYM Radio is a comprehensively formatted show, which features Nic & Bossi discussing and airing their most highly rated tracks of the week. It’ll also encompasses first-listen music premieres and tunes from the deeper side of the CG psyche. The show – which is broadcast on Sirius XM, DI.FM and many other stations – also features comprehensive info on up-and-coming gigs, Nic & Bossi’s Big Bang track of the week and a host of other features, latterly including the ThrowBack weekly classic and their Private Playlist tune. In January of 2019, the show passed its landmark 250th episode.Since 2013, Wake Your Mind Records has been the label base for all of Cosmic Gate’s releases. It’s also served as a dais for Cosmic Gate to sign and release music from other artists. Of late, tracks from producers like Maor Levi Greenhaven DJs and Steve Brian, as well as Nic Chagall’s own solo material have featured, alongside co-productions with Ferry Corsten, Markus Schulz, Super8 & Tab and others. Latterly, the Wake Your Mind Sessions compilations have also come to play a part in the WYM make-up, with the third in the series reaching release in March of 2018.Other remixes: Over their production lifetime, Cosmic Gate’s remixes have become almost as illustrious as their productions. In essence a blow-by-blow of A-list artists, Nic & Bossi have lent their studio know-how to releases by Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, Deadmau5, Paul van Dyk, Above & Beyond’s OceanLab project, Markus Schulz, John O’Callaghan, Gareth Emery and Ferry Corsten. In early 2010 Atlantic Records US approached them to remix James Horner’s ‘I See You’ – the main theme from the film Avatar. This run culminated in Nic & Bossi being nominated for Best Remixer at the 2010 IDMAs and not to forget their Grammy nominated remix for „Gabriel & Dresden – The Only Road“ in 2019 (see paragraph “Grammy Nomination” above for more infos) We want to hear from you! In this second episode of Diamond Profile, GCAL’s new podcast series, Ronnie Vanderlinden and Jeffrey Fischer shared their views of the current state of the diamond industry, as well as their forecasts for the holiday season ahead. Views included warnings of what the industry could potentially be facing, as well as optimism for a successful holiday season. Both their insights are based on many years of experience as leaders and veterans in our industry. They discussed supply chain disruptions, primarily impacted by conditions in India, as well as the influence of other diamond market centers. Forecasts of size, quality and price shifts were provided. They pointed to positive signs, including India’s purchase of about $700 million in rough; advertising support from the Natural Diamond Council; and diamonds as the one luxury item that is seeing growth. They also reacted to what seems to be a disconnect between diamond suppliers and retailers, in terms of product availability for the holidays; and how independent retailers and big chains will be impacted quite differently. They discussed at length the important and controversial relationship between the natural and lab grown diamond industries, pointing out both must, and seemingly are ready to coexist. They shared their views on the growing competition versus the industry’s dominant trading platform, and how new platforms are gaining traction. And finally, both looked ahead with hope and optimism, predicting a reasonably good holiday season. Ronnie Vanderlinden is currently President of Diamex, Inc., a diamond manufacturer and wholesaler. He is President of the DMIA (Diamond Manufacturers & Importers Association), IDMA (Int’l Diamond Manufacturers Assn), and United States Jewelry Council, an umbrella organization of 16 US associations. Ronnie is former Chairman of the Board of the New York Diamond Dealers Club, Treasurer of the World Diamond Council, President of the 24 Karat Club; and board member of AGS and JVC. Jeff Fisher is currently President of Fischer Diamonds, Inc., a family-owned diamond manufacturer and wholesaler. He has served as a member of the Board of GIA, chairman of the JVC, president and now honorary president of IDMA, president of the DMIA, and is a founder of the World Diamond Council. He also serves on the advisory board of the Diamond Development Initiative, whose mandate is to improve the living conditions of struggling diamond diggers in Africa and to help create acceptable standards for artisanal diamond mining. He is also a past president of the 24 Karat Club of New York, and currently serves as Chairman of the Board.

We have stocks for atleast 4 months & will always cater to domestic needs first. We need to sell materials to other countries also in crisis."

Bio  Many words can be used to describe Starkillers and the way that he, as an artist, approaches the music business. Only those who know his history understand who he is. Nick Terranova has always been one to carve his own path. He has always fought the system and challenged the idea of what is normal or politically correct. He is not okay with being told “that's just the way things are.” He has always questioned the “why”. Always marching on and fighting in an over flooded market of talent. “Music is not a popularity contest, it's not about followers and likes, and it's not about big drops and lack of groove. Music is about music taking the listener away from their current state of whatever. Music will be here, even when I no longer am. My music is my legacy, and I'm going back to the music. I hope you will all join me.” Sticking to his word, Nick launched “Brawla Records” in early 2014. The label is a labor of love, his very own army of fans. Brawla is Starkillers fight against the music industry and its ever changing scene. “Brawla is for me and it's for you, it's for every person who has fought for an opinion, or a right. Brawla really represents my life and the constant fight I have endured to stay relevant in the ever changing music industry. I want to fight, I want to Brawl. I'm not another DJ launching a label just because that's what is expected now. I'm launching Brawla because I can't expect anyone else in this world to fight for me as hard as I can for myself. If I help a few artists start their fights as well, then all the bigger the Brawla Club becomes.” He goes on, “None of that matters to me right now if we live in the past, we cannot enjoy the present or plan for the future…people who know my music will appreciate knowing that my relevancy today is because of them exploring my music yesterday and hopefully as my refocused passion evolves, they will come along for the ride, I promise, it's gonna be fun.” Humbled and grateful for everything he has achieved to this point, from an IDMA award to his numerous number one Beatport hits, this prolific musical trendsetter is putting his talent where his mouth is by letting the music speak for itself. "I have been lucky to have worked with some of the most influential artists in music, from remixing the voices of popstars Rhianna, Shakira and Example to writing hits like Pressure with the talented Nadia Ali, every experience has made me who I am today and who I will be going forward, not just as an artist but also as a person" Stay Tuned.   Tracklist Volac - Keep 45 (Donkie Punch Remix)  Ray MD - Old School In Tha house (Original Mix)  Nicky Romero, Nile Rodgers - Future Funk (S-Man Remix)  DJ Sisco - It's Underground (Original Mix) Sante Sansone, DJ Roland Clark - House Nation (Original Mix)  Stefano Noferini Metodi Hristov-On My Way (Original Mix)  Disco BallZ - Hear In Underground (Original Mix) Camilo Franco - I Got (Original Mix)  My Digital Enemy & Carl Hanaghan F. First there were Heineken and Edam, then came Sander van Doorn. The Dutch musical genius may not be as mature as his predecessors but he’s certainly made as much of a global impact in his comparatively short career. Having made his debut in the world-renowned DJ Mag Top 100 at 32 in 2006, before climbing to No.10 in 2009’s poll, the fast rise of Sander van Doorn is a testament to his raw talent and dedication. In just seven years he’s clocked up more dance floor destroyers, sell out gigs and awards than most artists do in a lifetime and his journey is still in its infancy. From the start Sander (and his alter egos; Sam Sharp, Purple Haze, Filterfunk & Sandler) has produced a variety of sounds at a level that only most producers can dream of, combining elements of trance, electro, techno and house constantly blowing away his fans and comrades, keeping everyone guessing what he’s going to come up with next. His debut artist album ‘Supernaturalistic’ was released in 2008 to rave reviews and launched a 32-date global album tour. He followed this by winning the coveted prize of ‘Best Breakthrough Artist’ at WMC’s IDMA, where he also received a nomination for ‘Best Underground Track’ with ‘Riff’ and ‘Best Electro House’ DJ at 2009’s Ibiza House Awards. It’s not only Sander’s solo productions that keep everyone on their toes but his bootlegs, covers and incredible remixes. This year we have seen Sander deliver official interpretations for multi-million selling and multi-award winning band, The Killers, with his re-working of their single ‘Spaceman’, as well as ‘Peace’ from electronic legends Depeche Mode. Also let’s not forget his fantastic selection of collaborations, with artists including friend and mentor Marco V on the monster tracks ‘Organic’ and ‘What Say’, and ‘Close My Eyes’, the European Top 20 hit, with a man that needs no introduction, Robbie Williams. Sander is one of the most in-demand genre crossing producers of his generation, his releases regularly picking up support from as wide reaching places as Pete Tong, Judge Jules, Tiesto and Carl Cox – you’re as likely to find his records in a house DJ’s box as a trance DJs. In fact, in 2009, each and everyone one of Sander’s releases (Bastillon, Ninety and Bliksem) have made it to No.1 on Beatport. Not content with taking the world by storm with his productions, Sander’s DJ skills are a force to be reckoned with. Every year sees Sander play to over one million clubbers. He consistently headlines huge events from Sensation to Global Gathering, from Trance Energy and Mysteryland through to his high profile summer residency at Cream in Ibiza. It was Sander’s DJing experiences around the world that inspired his own night ‘Dusk Till Doorn’, taking clubbing to the next level, offering the ultimate Sander van Doorn experience. Having already wowed crowds at the launch in May at The Gallery, Ministry of Sound, in Ibiza in June and North America in October, Sander’s musical and visual journey continues to pleasure crowds around the globe. Sander is extremely grateful to his fans and likes to give back as much possible. You can always be sure to find a couple of competition winners somewhere in an SvD crowd, on his private jet, in the DJ booth or staying at his hotel - Sander believes that giving the fans a piece of the action is a great way of repaying them for their support. In 2006 Sander set up his own radio show, giving fans the opportunity to hear him no matter where they might be. Now in it’s 3rd year and syndicated globally as well as being available as a Podcast, 'Identity' has given Sander a platform to distribute the sound that thousands of fans adore. As Sander approaches the most exciting time of his career and having already achieved so much in a relatively short period of time, it’s easy to see where this man is heading – Number 1! Guest Mix: Mr & Mrs Smith [DJ Side Project].Famous for his tough trance sound, Christopher Lawrence joins forces with his wife Sara for a new DJ side project 'Mr + Mrs Smith'. The pair, who have worked together behind the scenes for fifteen years have brought their joint efforts into the public eye with this new DJ duo, which debuted at this years Burning Man festival.Christopher laughs "I've been noticing there's a lot of DJs working in pairs lately. I've often thought it would be nice to have a wingman up there, although in this case, it's actually a wingwoman. I don't know of any other mixed sex DJ duos, let alone any husband and wife teams, so I think we're definitely breaking some new ground here".Christopher continues "Mr + Mrs Smith' is an opportunity for me to play music that I couldn't normally incorporate into my trance sets".So what is the sound? "I would describe it as electro house meets techno" says Sara. "But we'll play any genre, we don't care what it is as long as it's tough and sexy, with a groove".One thing is for certain, dance music's newest Dj duo has everyone talking..."Mr Smith" (AKA Christopher Lawrence) needs no introduction. One of the World's leading dance music talents, Christopher has received numerous awards and accolades. Winner of "Best American DJ" at the IDMA's, Christopher is also a recent recipient of the "Best DJ" at both the Dancestar US Awards and Los Angeles Music Awards. He has additionally been nominated in Dancestar UK Awards, DJ Awards, International Trance Awards, Global DJ Mix Awards and IDMA's to name a few. Christopher has also graced the covers of countless magazines, newspapers and publications worldwide, as well as headlining the worlds biggest superclubs and festivals."Mrs Smith" (AKA Sara Finlayson) is a dance music veteran. A regular at Melbourne's gay clubs in the eighties ("the only places you could hear good dance music in Australia"), she worked in the nightclub industry, before moving to London in the early nineties to work at Tower Records dance department. She was active in the London rave scene of the early nineties, before moving to Los Angeles, where she met "Mr Smith" (AKA Christopher Lawrence, a struggling bedroom DJ) and they were married shortly after. Continuing her career in dance music, Sara worked for several years for German techno star Sven Vath at the LA office of his labels Eye Q Music / Harthouse before becoming the Los Angeles editor of respected US electronic music mag XLR8R. During this time, Sara also produced music with Moonshine Music producer Dave Aude under the moniker Mile High. It was also in the late nineties that Sara formed Monster Media, a PR and management company specializing in dance music, under which she managed the careers of artists including husband Christopher Lawrence, a position she continues to this day. A familiar face backstage in the dance music industry, Sara brings her tough attitude out of the shadows and into the DJ booth with 'Mr + Mrs Smith'.
