Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this podcast episode, we talk about the new 2025 Indian Scout lineup.  It has been revamped for 2025.  For some background information, the Indian Scout is a motorcycle built by the Indian Motorcycle Company from 1920 to 1949. It rivaled the Chief as Indian's most important model. The 101 Scout, made from 1928 to 1931, has been called the best motorcycle Indian ever made.  A second line of Scouts, with heavier frames, was introduced in 1932 alongside the Standard Scout, which replaced the 101 Scout and shared its frame with the Chief and the Four. The small-displacement Scout and the Sport Scout, introduced in 1934, were continued until the end of civilian production in 1942. We and other Allied forces used military versions of both models during World War II. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE The 2025 Indian Scout is built around an all-new 1250cc SpeedPlus engine, which gets its name from the PowerPlus engine and what's shared between the two units. The new engine produces a claimed 105 horsepower and 82 lb-ft of torque, except on 101 models, where an extra six horsepower is available through different tuning. The torque curve is long and flat, starting around 3000 rpm and continuing past peak horsepower at 7250, tapering off as it reaches the rev limiter at 8500 rpm. Over previous models, average fuel mileage is improved for an additional claimed 20 miles per tank, largely thanks to a one-tooth larger drive sprocket. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! The new SpeedPlus 1250 builds on Scout's unmatched reputation of delivering the perfect balance of power and control. The all-new engine features an 11% increase in power and 14% increase in torque while maintaining its easy-to-ride character. With 105 HP on the Scout Classic, Scout Bobber, Sport Scout, and Super models, and 111 HP and 82 ft-lbs of torque on the 101 Scout.  The flat torque curve coupled with new available ride modes delivers smooth predictable acceleration in all conditions and maximizes the fun for riders of all levels.  Ride Modes include Standard, Rain, and Sport. 2025 Indian Scout Models: Scout Bobber Scout Classic Sport Scout Super Scout 101 Scout Store Items Mentioned: Denali Destroyer Headlights Softbrake Extended Rear Brake Pedals NEW FREE VIDEO RELEASED: Harley Tail Light Transformation: Ciro Armor LED Programmable Light-Review & Install! Episode 39 aired on CBS Radio October 21, 1956. Fort Laramie Western series starring Raymond Burr as Captain Lee Quince. It aired Sunday afternoons January 22–October 28, 1956, at 5:30pm ET. Produced and directed by Norman MacDonnell, this Western drama depicted life at old Fort Laramie during the 19th Century. The 41 episodes starred Raymond Burr as Lee Quince, captain of the cavalry. One year later, Burr became a television star as Perry Mason In the series, the fort had 400 troops in all, but they had to keep their eye on a nearby Indian reservation with 4,000 Sioux camped there. Major Ned Daggert led the troops, and he didn't always see eye to eye with Quince. Daggert had a niece called Terrie Lawson, who had her eye on the captain. Supporting regulars included Vic Perrin as Sgt. Gorse, Harry Bartell as the slightly green Lt. Seibert and Jack Moyles as Major Daggert. Heard on a more irregular basis were John Dehner, John McIntire, Virginia Gregg, James Nusser, Parley Baer and Barney Phillips. Amerigo Marino supplied the music. The scripts were mostly written by John Meston, Kathleen Hite, Les Crutchfield and John Dunkel. John Dehner originally auditioned for the part of Lee Quince in a story that was later remade with Burr in the lead, called "The Boatwright's Story".

Women in Motorcycle History

On this episode we are going to talk about some influential women in motorcycle history. Since I have started reading about the history of Indian Motorcycle, I got curious. Motorcycling is a male dominated activity, but more and more women are joining the riding community each year. So, when did women start riding motorcycles?   Today I took a ride. Big surprise there huh?! My son finally got his big brother's bike fixed and road worth again so of course we had to ride to brunch. Then we parted ways because he's a teenage boy and had to go show his friends his motorcycle, so I went and did a few things. As I was getting close to home, like literally around the corner, I remembered taking my first big step in riding. I guess you could say it was a beginner's milestone. My block is actually 2 smaller blocks chunked off from a bigger block. Then there are a bunch of those bigger blocks that make up this section of the neighborhood. It's about 2 and a half miles to go all the way around this chunk. I was thinking about when I was finally brave enough to ride around this chunk of blocks. The speed limit is a whopping 30 miles and hour. I felt joy and exhilaration overcoming that next obstacle and getting more comfortable on the road. So today as I was coming home, I remembered all those feelings and decided to ride that ride again. I thought about how nervous I was coming to a stop at all 6 of the stop signs. I remember waiting for traffic because I was unsure of my ability to get going and up to speed. I laughed at myself thinking how far I have come. It was fun to think about the past and see all I have accomplished. And once again I thought about other women motorcyclists.  Seriously, when did women start riding?   Recently I talked about the beginnings of the Indian Motorcycle Company. FYI there is so much more to that history, but that's for future episode. Anyway, as I was reading, I was wondering where all the ladies were. Yeah! Where are the women that made motorcycle history? Well, they are out there, just harder to find. But I have been doing some digging.   You know what I found out? Women started riding immediately. Motorized bicycles came out and women started riding. Motorcycles were never a men's only thing. The practicality of them made them an ideal choice for everyone. And because motorcycles were half as expensive as the new Model-T Ford, they were preferred methods of transportation. Well, at least for a little while.   Ok let me take you back and tell you a smidge of Indian Motorcycle history to get this to really make sense. Between 1901 and 1916 Indian Motorcycle increased its success 10-fold. They were on top of the motorcycle game in every capacity, and not just in the United States but around the world. It was around 1916 that Indian modified its engine and thus the Powerplus was born. Basically, they added metal to the combustion chamber creating turbulence that increased power. That's the cliff notes version.        The VanBuren Sisters   Anyway, this Powerplus motorcycle is what a set of sisters used to ride across the country to prove that women could help in the war efforts. Adeline and Augusta VanBuren figured that if they could prove that women could ride through the hardships of crossing the treacherous country from New York to California then they could help the war efforts as dispatch riders. This would allow more men to fight in positions women could not. These women were the first to ride a motorized vehicle up Pike's Peak and encountered countless hardships along their journey. Unfortunately, media only reported on the amazingness of the motorcycle and glossed  over what these two ladies had done in 1916! However, because women didn't have the right to vote, this did push more women to break stereotypes and show the world that women can do anything a man can. These two women made history. They did something that not may people did, and their story is inspirational.   Theresa Wallach   The next woman that I think was an inspiration to motorcycle history was Theresa Wallach. She was originally from Europe but eventually moved to the United States. Over her lifetime she was a true motorcycle adventurer. She grew up surrounded motorcycles and learned to ride from some of the best of the time. As she grew, she learned wrench on bikes in addition to honing her riding skills which led her to win numerous local competitions. But this was the 1930's so her behavior was very unbecoming of a lady. Theresa did what the VanBuren's couldn't. She was able to become a military dispatch rider, but this was only one small accomplishment for her. She took what is considered one of the most radial rides ever from London, England to Cape Town, South Africa! This rocketed Theresa to celebrity status and helped her get accepted into the British racing establishment. When she came to America, Theresa became known for her mechanical abilities and worked in a shop until she opened her own motorcycle dealership. She wrote 2 very successful books about her motorcycle journeys and began teaching new riders in 1959. She opened the Easy Riding Academy and still had time to serve as the first Vice President of the Women's International Motorcycle Association. Theresa never owned a car and rode up until she could no longer see well enough to ride in her 80's. Theresa was a pioneer for women riders around the world.   Bessie Stringfield   These last few ladies were inspirational and truly pushed for women, but this next lady was such a pioneer in her own rights.  I'm talking about the Motorcycle Queen from Miami, Bessie Stringfield.  Not only was she breaking barriers for women, but the black community as well. This woman has an award in her name. The Bessie Stringfield award is granted to a person who introduces motorcycling to emerging markets. That explanation in itself should give you an idea of this woman's influence during her lifetime. Bessie's first motorcycle was a 1928 Indian Scout, which she taught herself to ride. Then she switched over to Harely, and even though it makes me sad that was a Harley woman, I have to forgive her because of the leaps and bounds she made with her riding. She began by riding all over the country, and as a black woman in the 30's and 40's that was unheard of and unimaginably dangerous for her. She would be denied basic needs like a place to stay because she was black, and reports say she would on occasion sleep on her motorcycle if she couldn't find black folks to take her in. This hardship didn't seem to bother her much and she went on to ride across the country several times before completing serious training with difficult maneuvers to become a civilian Army motorcycle dispatch rider. Bessie eventually settled in Miami, hence the name Motorcycle Queen of Miami. She got the name from riding while standing on her motorcycle. She started a motorcycle club and even won a motorcycle race. However, she denied her the prize because she's a woman.    Gloria Tramontin-Struck   Gloria Tramontin-Struck started riding at 16 years old. She loved traveling and was determined to do it on a motorcycle. Because she was riding in the 40's, like Bessie it was improper for a woman. This is still mind blowing to me. When motor bikes first came out, women used them so when did it become improper? Whatever, it was! And Gloria experienced similar situations to Bessie. Both ladies were refused rooms and basic necessities for their travels. Gloria continued riding and estimates that she rode at least 700,000 miles. She is a regular at motorcycle rallies such as Sturgis and Daytona and has helped to change the way people view motorcyclists.   Dot Robinson   Dot Robinson used her tenacity to get herself into motorcycle racing. She is credited with being the first female racer in many events, but we know that's not true. Remember Bessie raced but wasn't credited for it. Some stories tell of Dot winning races then cleaning up and presenting herself as the lady she was. This was ultimately what got her noticed and really helped to start to change perceptions of women in motorcycling, in particular women in racing.   Mary McGee   Mary McGee liked car racing and thought, “what the heck? Let's learn to race motorcycles because it may help me get better at racing cars.” She was forced to take a test to prove her ability and became the first woman to hold a FIM license in the United States. So, yay legal Female racer!!! Making waves for women in the sport!!! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that she began racing in the late 50's early 60's so we are still working on the perception of motorcyclist as normal people, especially women motorcyclists. All of these women played a part in motorcycle history. The Van Buren sisters, Theresa, Bessie, Gloria, Dot, and Mary. I did not do their stories justice, and there are so many more women out there that had pivotal roles. I am in awe at what these women did for the motorcycle community. I am truly amazed at their willpower to continue through every challenge thrown at them. I am inspired by their perseverance in the face of adversity. I am also a little more enlightened on the history of motorcycling. I'm so glad I followed up on women's motorcycle history. Thanks Taresa.

Wild West Podcast

This is the story of Moses Embree Milner, one man's life on the frontier as an Indian Scout. By the late 1860s the Army had been involved in the Indians Wars for 20 years and because of the vast, challenging land to the west, the Army needed more manpower. To offset the vastness of the territory the Army employed Indian Scouts to performed reconnaissance and combat duties. These scouts helped to subdue the last warring tribes.  There were several types of scouts: those who enlisted as Indian Scouts for brief terms and those hired as scouts by the U.S. Army. Sometimes an individual may have served at different times as a hired scout and an enlisted scout, but never at the same time. In addition to enlisted and hired scouts, some scouts not of native American descent served in Regular Army infantry and cavalry regiments in short-lived Indian campaigns in the 1800s. To read more about early frontier history you can purchase the book Trail, Forts, Treaties and Indian Wars at Amazon.

Fibber McGee and Molly was an American radio comedy series. A staple of the NBC Red Network for the show's entire run and one of the most popular and enduring radio series of its time, the prime time situation comedy ran as a standalone series from 1935 to 1956, then continued as a short-form series as part of the weekend Monitor from 1957 to 1959. The title characters were created and portrayed by Jim and Marian Jordan, a real-life husband and wife team that had been working in radio since the 1920s.---------------------------------------------------------------------------Sherlock Holmes Radio Station Live 24/7 Click Here to Listenhttps://live365.com/station/Sherlock-Holmes-Classic-Radio--a91441----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday I dropped off my 2018 Indian Scout motorcycle at the local dealership for them to sell on consignment for me. I will get out of my loan and I still have my 2018 Indian Chieftain Limited touring bike which is enough for me. As I am sharing my concern with the salesman regarding the slight lack of engine power of my Chieftain Limited, he realizes that the new 2020 Indian Challenger Limited might be a better fit for me. It comes with Brembro brakes. Metzler tires, inverted front forks and it has Smart Lean technology. Now you have my attention. So how about we take it for a test ride? --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/angelo-quebelli/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/angelo-quebelli/support

My motorcycle story started out by turning 25 years of regret into a fulfilled dream which led to a summer of excitement which turned into a full blown passion fueling a new journey. I put 3000 miles on my new Indian Scout and decided that I want to ride down south and explore America. But my first season of riding made me realize that as sexy and powerful as the Scout was, it is not the right bike for my new journey. I needed a touring motorcycle so I took advantage of some end of the season savings and purchased a 2018 Indian Chieftain Limited touring bike. Now I am cooking with gas. I can ride 70-75 mph on the highway without the wind knocking me around. I have a touchscreen GPS navigation system with Bluetooth radio. More importantly, I have electrical & mechanical diagnostics like oil pressure, fuel consumption and tire pressure monitoring making for a longer safer ride. I turned a lifelong regret into a passion fueled new personal journey. Whether you are retired or not, please find that thing that makes you feel alive and just keep doing it. Let me share with you my first season riding like the wind. April 2018 my Blue Angel finally arrives at the Indian Motorcycle Dealership. I make the inaugural ride on my 2018 Indian Scout filled with fear and excitement after visualizing for 4 weeks each curve, turn and bump in the road I would be faced with on the 50 mile route to my home. I made it home safe even though I suddenly came face to face with a rather surprised hawk in front of my windscreen. Since then I have asked God to ride with me on every ride and He has. I cannot truly describe for you how alive and free I feel on the bike. The power and command of the road with each turn yet vulnerable to the potential hazards. I went on short local rides by myself and with groups to learn and get used to riding. You can learn by watching other riders but I also learned that group rides could be dangerous for new riders. The take away from my first season is this: when you are on your journey doing you for you, stay in your lane and run your race. Because your journey us just that, it is your journey. No one else’s. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/angelo-quebelli/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/angelo-quebelli/support

Episode 23: The World’s Fastest Indian. This week we examine 2005’s movie starring Anthony Hopkins in the lead role and covering eccentric Kiwi Burt Munro’s speed record attempts at Bonneville Salt Flats on a 1920s Indian Scout motorcycle. Set in the 1960s with Burt in his 60s, join us to discover the truth about this pretty remarkable character. We also apologise for the poor sound quality; as you will discover in the introduction it was due to pressing reasons that we had to improvise this week’s episode and we will return to the usual standard for the next show. We hope you bear with us and find this show as rewarding as the movie.

Hello from the V-Twin Cafe here in sunny Cranford, New Jersey. Fun listening today.Wonderful fun stuff, we had a fan..... of sorts.... in the studio with us keeping us moderately sweaty as we discussed our week and what little riding we did.  We had the death of the battery in my Heritage Classic and one of Chris's saddle bags nearly fall off.... the work of Gremlins no doubt.  We briefly discuss the weather for the upcoming week and determine that our departure for Americade could be in the form of storms and drippy stuff from the sky. Regardless, we are going and have a week of amazing activities planned.  Lots of food to eat and a boatload of miles to put in.  We will be doing short podcasts from our hotel room and hope to get some good interviews. The bike spec comparisons of the week were nothing less than amazing.  We had the KTM Super Adventure, Indian Scout, Keanu Reeves' ARCH KRGT-1 and the Can-Am Spyder FS.  We even talked the Polaris Slingshot for a short time too.  Great bikes to look over and get an idea of what the rest of the world is doing.More than all of that.... a huge tip of the helmet from the Motorcycle Men to all of our service men and women past, present and future who serve our great nation and have served.  We owe you nothing less than our eternal gratitude for the sacrifice of your lives for our great nation. And of course a sincere thank you to all of our fans and friends who take the time to listen to our nutty show.  Thank you.See you all at Americade next week!!Ride Safe!Ted Support the show (https://www.paypal.com/donate/?token=zPl7v5FjoO6fCov5rwbFo35sxmoOIUqUhcR1q1UVtP34xAVolJzW0aJ6GNSdljsPAT4MC0&fromUL=true&country.x=US&locale.x=en_US)
