In a world where convenience is king and technology reigns, the realm of live event payments is undergoing a revolutionary transformation. Jake Stone, Chief Revenue Officer of Cantaloupe, graces us with his insights in a recent podcast episode, highlighting the seismic shift towards self-service and mobile payments in stadiums, entertainment venues and festivals. This move is not only enhancing the fan experience but also significantly augmenting venue revenue—a double win for the industry. The emergence of Generation Z as a driving force in the economy is shaping how payment systems evolve. Their mobile-first mindset and preference for digital solutions are paving the way for venues to rethink their service models. And as we cast our eyes towards the horizon, the future of event payments looks cashless and frictionless. Technologies such as AI and biometrics are on the cusp of redefining convenience and personalization. But this transformation isn't solely about the technology; it's about the human experience. These advancements in payment systems are designed to keep fans immersed in the event, reducing the time spent waiting in line and increasing the time spent enjoying the spectacle. In conclusion, the path towards a cashless, high-tech future in live event arenas is not just inevitable; it's already underway. The innovations spearheaded by companies like Cantaloupe are setting a new standard in the industry. As we embrace these changes, we're not just witnessing the evolution of payment systems; we're participating in the redefinition of the live event experience itself.

Behind the Door - Season 2 Episode 11 - Everyone's a Critic "It was only my journalistic ethics that kept me from telling him to go fuck himself and leaving right there and then..." Welcome to another episode of Behind the Door, where we take a behind the scenes look into our story and chat with the author and actor who made it happen. In this episode we are interviewing with Lachlan Watt, the expressive author of S2E11 "Everyone's a Critic". Also joining us is Kelly Nienaltowski, the actor playing the character of Miss Thomson. Join us in the lobby for hors d'oeuvres and opinions. Featuring: Lachlan Watt - Author Kelly Nienaltowski - Actor Jason Wilson - Executive Producer Brooks Bigley - Host Artwork by Cassie Pertiet LACHLAN WATT For more information on Lachlan Watt, follow him on Twitter at @LachlanJWatt Lachlan Watt first joined The Grey Rooms with his sci-fi/horror story "Fix Me", a patron bonus episode from season 1 that was made available to listeners for free here, or just search for it in our podcast feed. Lachlan is a writer and sometimes musician from Adelaide, South Australia. His fiction has been featured in Aphotic Realm magazine and elsewhere. He wrote a chapter of "He Has Stayed Too Long", the upcoming group novel edited by Don Gillette. When he's not writing, Lachlan can be found enjoying a pint of stout at his local, or playing guitar in various scuzzy punk bands. KELLY NIENALTOWSKI For more information on Kelly Nienaltowski, visit her website at kellynienaltowski.com, follow her on Twitter at @KellyLynnNino, or like her Actor page on Facebook. Kelly Nienaltowski recently wrote, produced, and starred in a short movie called Cupcake. A woman orders a decadent dessert only to find out the treat comes with more than just a thick layer of frosting... Also starring Mark Whitten in the flesh, better known as the voice behind Jake Stone from our season 2 narrative. Kelly knew from an early age that she wanted to act, so finding a career in the industry came natural. Peruse her IMDB filmography for more evidence. She loves a good mystery story and her Netflix list is full of spy thrillers, criminal capers, or anything depicting characters both flawed and beautiful. Comedy is also the best medicine. When she's not busy critiquing the artwork made by a madman, Kelly can be found watching The Dick Van Dyke Show and even has several episodes memorized. Did you know that Jake Stone, front man for Bluejuice, was a judge at Eurovision?! Or that he had a sketch comedy show on TV? Music and performing plays a huge part in everything Jake does and we the lot. Punks, After Change also drop by to explain how to start a band in the modern era.
On an intense episode of MFA, Bluejuice frontman Jake Stone joins me to reveal his passion for the self-titled debut album from Ben Folds Five - an album Jake says has inspired almost every song he's written since. We talk about how the album got him back into piano playing, what "cool" meant in the 90s and why Folds didn't fit it, whether BFF were more emotionally honest than grunge bands, what kind of music is best to dance to when you're coping with anxiety and depression, writing about infidelity, the different types of love you can have for a band and why Jake would prefer not to be himself. This week - something a bit different. I am a very big fan of former Bluejuice frontman, comedian and broadcaster Jake Stone and feel very lucky indeed to count him as a friend. I think he's extremely funny and creative but also has a darkness and a brutal honesty to him that I find fascinating. This chat - recorded back in January of this year - covers Jake's career with Bluejuice, the band's philosophy, the state of today's music industry, the major break-up in his life that inspired him so much and stilll haunts him, mental health issues and the experiecne of writing a good pop song. Jake even kindly gave me a special little musical treat, just for this podcast: his cover of How Will I Know?. Enjoy!
