Happy fa la la la holidays everyone! Week 1 of the 2023 Christmas Around the Channels recap is here and what a strong start it was for Hallmark! Technically the season kicked off with GAC trying to start Christmas a week early, but Destined 2: Christmas Once More wasn't worthy of early airtime. But kicking it off for Hallmark, Checkin It Twice with Kevin McGarry and Kim Matula, followed by Where Are You, Christmas? on Saturday starting Lyndsy Fonseca and Michael Rady put the channel firmly into ratings first place. Both storylines were fun and the pairing was great for both. Twas The Text Before Christmas on GAC Saturday starring Merritt Patterson and Trevor Donovan was a definite step up for them garnering them a 3.75/5, and rounding out the week on Hallmark was Under the Christmas Sky featuring Ryan Paevey and Jessica Parker Kennedy. Unfortunately that one didn't have a lot of chemistry or a strong plot, but every other part of the movie kept it fresh enough for a 3.5/5. Listen now for all the best and worst parts and let's kick off the 2023 Christmas movie season together!
We welcome you back to the Hallmark Cafe for season two with two movies from the first weekend of the 2023 'Countdown to Christmas' on Hallmark. Will Kevin McGarry and Kim Matula get their debit cards back in Checkin' it Twice? And will the stars align for Jessica Parker Kennedy and Ryan Paevey in Under The Christmas Sky? As always, your table is ready!
Stephanie and Kerrie are back.... and so is Christmas! And to kick off this holiday season, we are previewing the first weekend of Christmas movies from Hallmark: Checkin' It Twice starring Kim Matula and Kevin McGarry Where are You, Christmas? starring Lyndsy Fonseca, Michael Rady, Jim O'Heir, and Julie Warner Under the Christmas Sky starring Jessica Parker Kennedy and Ryan PaeveyBe sure not to miss the fun over on Instagram (and Facebook)!Instagram: @loveandnonsensepodcast Facebook: Love and Nonsense Podcast

Prophecy Radio episode #62 does a Deep Dive on Chiron, trainer of heroes and the wisest of all centaurs! We also talk about the most recent news in the Riordanverse, including the Mark of Athena graphic novel cover reveal and all the latest on the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series coming to Disney+, as well as reread and discuss Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian chapter 16. New episodes of Prophecy Radio air weekly, and all ages are welcome to tune in. News and Updates (00:01:25) December 19 is your last day to enter our art giveaway! See instructions. And don't forget about the livestream fundraiser. Details here. Read Riordan gave us a last-minute holiday gift guide from the gods and demigods. We got the cover reveal for Serwa Boateng's Guide to Witchcraft and Mayhem by Roseanne A. Brown. We even got the cover reveal for the upcoming Mark of Athena graphic novel. Hazel's birthday was on December 17! Cool. Awkward. Black., edited by Karen Strong, features short stories from Roseanne A. Brown and Kwame Mbalia. Someone on Twitter also asked Becky about merchandise, and she talked a bit about how it all depends on the success of the show. As Percy Jackson and the Olympians goes into their winter break, we probably won't be getting the Zeus and Posiedon casting. In a now-deleted Tweet, Becky also talks about seeing a network cut of an episode, and how it's interesting to see what ends up being cut. Charlie Bushnell has officially wrapped on the first season. Jessica Parker Kennedy talks about playing Medusa. Becky and Stephanie Lurie also helped us figure out approximately how many books Rick might've signed in his lifetime. Ashlee will no longer be in charge of Rick's socials, but here's an update on what they'll be doing (and their dream jobs for the future). We also go through some new Goodreads answers from Rick Riordan. There are no current plans for a Daughter of the Deep sequel. That also goes for any additional Percy Jackson illustrated editions. Will we ever see Leo Valdez again? It turns out we'll learn how Will identifies in The Sun and the Star. Is there a Magnus Chase adaptation in our future? Could Cursed Carnival and Other Calamities ever get an adaptation? Deep Dive: Chiron (00:30:30) There weren't many references to Chiron in Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes and Greek Gods. The Party Ponies are much closer to what actual centaurs are like. Chiron is pretty different because he doesn't share the same ancestry as the other centaurs. There are several different origin stories for centaurs, and all of them are…weird. Did you know some centaurs are horned!? Why does it always come back to Zeus and Hera? Poor Chiron didn't have a very nice childhood. How do you teach a horse gymnastics!? We find out what Chiron is REALLY supposed to look like. We get into the age-old debate of how centaurs would wear pants. Who are some of the heroes Chiron trained? Karen discovers a fun fact about Disney's Hercules! How did Chiron die? What was Chiron like in the Percy Jackson books? More importantly, what did he look like? Why wasn't he a white stallion in any of the visual adaptations of the books? Chiron has a couple of pretty interesting abilities. What are some Chiron-related fun facts from the series? Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian (00:47:39) This week, we're reading The Last Olympian chapter 16. Did this chapter make us emotional? Did we find it exciting? Is it believable that Annabeth was able to fly the helicopter? This part is going to be SO exciting in the show. If this is Rachel without any training and focus, imagine what's coming next! Do we sympathize with Percy about being mad that Rachel told him he's not the hero? Is it weird that Chiron really wasn't worried when Rachel showed up with some possible prophetic thoughts and dreams? We're up to Prophecy Count #31! And Demeter and Persephone definitely stole the show. How do we feel about Nico's arguments to get Hades to help the Olympians? Seriously, Hades needs some family therapy. Is Ethan purposefully trying to stall Kronos? Is he having regrets? Does Prometheus think he's smarter than Kronos? That drakon is very large. And very close. Percy's anger throughout The Last Olympian is totally valid. We're constantly impressed with how good of a leader and strategist Percy is. Why was Silena the one to lead the charge with the Ares Cabin? We really have to wait until next week to talk about what sort of impact this will have on the book and all these characters. Feedback (01:21:09) Jessica writes in to tell us she totally agrees with us on the concept of Western Civilization. Phoebe thinks Dionysus is afraid of the Party Ponies, and we find that visual totally hilarious. Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode 63, which will look back on everything that happened in 2022 and all that we accomplished! This episode's hosts are: Karen Rought and Kristen Kranz. Prophecy Radio episode #54 dives into the latest news in the Riordanverse, including three—yes, you heard right—THREE blog posts from Rick Riordan. This includes updates on Rick Riordan Presents, the latest casting information for the Percy Jackson and the Olympians TV show, as well as the announcement of Percy Jackson Book 6 (aka Percy Jackson and the Chalice of the Gods). We also return to our Percy Jackson reread with a discussion of The Last Olympian chapter 8. New episodes of Prophecy Radio air weekly, and all ages are welcome to tune in. News and Updates (00:02:28) If you haven't already, be sure to listen to our interview with Roseanne A. Brown about Serwa Boateng's Guide to Vampire Hunting. Roseanne is also doing an educator giveaway of the book, ending 10/28. Read Riordan put up another OTP Timelines article—this time about Leo and Calypso. This isn't really news, but we love Angie Thomas and Rick Riordan's friendship. Blog-a-palooza (00:06:56) We have a lot of blog posts to talk about this week—and one extra than we expected! There's so much awesome news, so let's just get into it. First up is the October 9 blog post, titled “News from the Riordanverse October 2022.” You can still pre-order signed copies of The Sun and the Star by Rick Riordan and Mark Oshiro from Barnes & Noble. We're pretty excited that Rick mentions there could be more Will and Nico books in the future. We talk about some Trials of Apollo spoilers and how it could affect The Sun and the Star. What other characters do you think we'll get to see in this book? Don't forget about The Lords of Night by J.C. Cervantes! And how could we forget about The Spirit Glass by Roshani Chokshi!? It's so interesting that Filipino mythology is one of the most requested topics for them to explore. Rick also gives us a few updates from the set of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. We learn roughly where we are in the adaptation of The Lightning Thief. Rick says more nice things about Walker and Leah, and we love to hear it. We guess as to which on-set dog Rick recently met. Rick also has some very interesting insight into the production process and how much he's learned about making a film/television adaptation. It's time to quiz Kristen on more TV/film lingo! Next up: The October 13 blog post, “More Casting News for PJOTV.” Jessica Parker Kennedy has been cast as Medusa. Kristen has definitely seen her in quite a few different shows. She also seems to be a Jon Steinberg darling, and it's exciting that they've worked together so many times! Suzanne Cryer has been cast as Echidna, and she has A LOT of TV credits to her name. Like, a lot. You've probably seen her in something. Her Instagram post about the announcement was so beautiful and heartwarming. Lastly, we've got Adam Copeland as Ares, and is there a more perfect person to step into this role? Maybe this is a good excuse for Karen to finally watch Vikings. Lastly, we've got the October 18 blog post about Percy Jackson and the Chalice of the Gods. Karen reads you the entire blog post so you don't miss A SINGLE DETAIL. Make sure you also read the Publisher's Weekly article, which offers a few additional details. Rick was REALLY trying to get the PJOTV off the ground, and we're here for it. How do we feel about calling Chalice of the Gods Percy Jackson 6? When does this book take place? Okay, but, like, is this the first in a trilogy…? Yeah, we're gonna buy this no matter what, you don't have to worry about that. We're PRETTY sure no one is going to die in this book, so don't panic! Rick reminds us just how much of a big deal Percy Jackson and the Olympians really is. Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian (01:06:37) This week, we're discussing The Last Olympian chapter 8. It feels like it's been ages, but we're back! That windowless, doorless room is cruel and unusual punishment. Why has Percy been dreaming of Rachel throughout this book? Who does that power belong to? We liked the countdown with Typhon instead of racing the clock against another solstice. This episode proves we need to work on our United States geography. Let's talk about this whole situation between Percy and Nico. One thing's for sure, we're always going to talk about how much we love Mrs. O'Leary. Achilles seems to have learned a lot from his death. Okay, we find out the real reason why Luke was able to host Kronos. We love Nico so much, but he's driving us crazy in this book. Is it weird that Percy submerges completely in the River Styx? We loved the moment when Percy pins Hades, but maybe he should've made sure the river thing worked first. Rick didn't have to include that moment with Hades' cloak, but we're glad he did. Feedback (01:33:54) Ian wants to remind everyone to go listen to our Daughter of the Deep review if you've read the book! He also has some clever ideas for the Percy Jackson Monopoly pieces. Sword of Avalon also has some great ideas to improve our Demigod Life game. Thanks for the kind words, too! Henry wrote us a monster of a letter, and we tackle a couple of the most important sections. We really love doing chapters one at a time, even if The Red Pyramid is a bigger book. Thanks for correcting a few timeline things for us! We're old and our memories are bad. We want Tom Sturridge as Morpheus in Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 5! Henry also gives us a great idea for our 100th episode. Is Nico friendly with Anubis, the Egyptian God of Death? He also has a tech question for us, and we need your help! Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode 55, which will do a Monster Guide on Procrustus. This episode's hosts are: Karen Rought and Kristen Kranz. Each episode, our Prophecy Radio hosts and their guests will keep you up to date on the latest information coming out of Camp Half-Blood, including upcoming books and adaptation news, discuss a topic of choice, and do a chapter by chapter reread of the Percy Jackson series. Don't they have clouds on this Earth?" (Alex to Kara after one-night stand) Oliver arrives last - "Just a quick reminder, super speed – I don't have it." Rate the crossover SP - F. My 8 year old nephew could have produced a better product. Chris - Could be used to teach a lesson on how to cross over so many characters. I think they pulled off the team up better than Justice League because people were more invested in this than DCEU. Michelle – Awesome; focused on core characters, only brought in others for big fight NEXT EPISODE Link to Promo: (Date: 29 Nov 2017) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7okT1lJ2TL4 Episode: “Irreconcilable Differences” [Season 6 Episode 9] Air Date: Thursday, December 7 (mid-season finale) Summary: Black Siren and Cayden James kidnap Quentin to get their hands on a weapon of mass destruction. During my crazed schedule at SXSW, I made sure to set some time aside to talk to the cast and creator of the upcoming gal pal comedy I Love Bekka and Lucy, the first digital series to be included in the episodic programming at the festival — and that's a huge deal. On the episode, I have a grand ol' time talking with writer-director Rachael Holder and actors Jessica Parker Kennedy, Tanisha Long, Chris Smith, and Alexis Denisof about the hysterical series, diversity & inclusion (obvi), and most importantly, The Great British Baking Show.

It's a special NYCC interview special! Jimmy sat in on the round tables for the new Starz series Black Sails. He chatted with creator Jonathan E. Steinberg and cast members Hanna New, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Luke Evans, Toby Stephens, and Zach McGowan. It sounds like a fantastic show with a great premise of taking place 20 years before the events in Treasure Island. Leave your iTunes comments! 5 stars and nothing but love! Thanks for listening!
