Episode 937 Jason Interviews Barbra Dillon and Jordan Hart-Ripple Effects HardcoverBack it https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fanbasepress/jordan-harts-ripple-effects-the-deluxe-edition?ref=74v43vJordan Hart's critically acclaimed Graphic Medicine series, Ripple Effects, follows the adventures of a superhero whose invincibility is offset by an acute case of type 1 diabetes that must be monitored and treated daily. Nominated for the biggest awards in comics, the gripping and inspirational story about living with an invisible illness is inspired by Hart's own lived experience with thrombophilia, an incurable blood-clotting disease. On the eve of its 15th anniversary, GLAAD Award-winning publisher and media outlet Fanbase Press is launching its first-ever Kickstarter campaign to fund an expanded deluxe hardcover edition of the book, featuring all-new contributions from some of the biggest names in comics, including a foreword by Eisner and Harvey Awards-winning writer Gail Simone (Birds of Prey, Batgirl, Uncanny X-Men). The Savvy Producer | Productivity and Efficiency in Music Production
This week we have Harley Eblen on the podcast chatting about how one Instagram post changed his business forever (and allowed him to double his rates), why he uses a light phone and how he's dialled in his recording process and studio so that he can get from idea to recording in seconds. With a lifelong obsession for understanding what makes music so impactful, Harley arranges and records strings from his home studio nestled in the trees of Ashland, Oregon. His approach to string arranging combines his abilities as a cellist, songwriter, and a producer. He's recorded strings on dozens of albums, worked with artists like Cayson Renshaw, Haley and Michaels, Jim Brickman, Laurie Lewis, Thomas LaVine, Vintz Desert, Genesis Ritchoot, Joel Iglesias, Matt and Savanna Shaw, and Jordan Hart. His work is regularly featured on AlexRainbird, Indie Folk Central, and Indie Music Center, Spotify, and Apple editorial playlists. At the heart of our show, we are very much in love with comic books! That means that any time that we can speak with some awesome creators, we are definitely going to make it happen! We have another awesome interview with a creator out of Fanbase Press! Today's awesome guest is the writer of Ripple Effects, Jordan Hart! "In a world that is no stranger to superheroes, George Gibson is invulnerable to physical harm but fights every day to stay alive. Suffering from an acute case of type 1 diabetes, his invincibility is offset by a defective pancreas that must be monitored and treated daily. This incurable disease makes George's body both his greatest strength and his eternal weakness. " What a wild concept that Jordan and his team have come up with! In a crazy twist of fate, George, the titular character is a superhero with invulnerability to harm, BUT is plagued with an invisible illness that he has to deal with every single day of his life, sometimes dealing with multiple issues throughout the day, while George is fighting crime! It's always more connecting when you can look up to someone who isn't completely invincible, but is still able to overcome and make the world better! A very special Fanbase Feature! At San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Fanbase Press Editor-in-Chief Barbra Dillon moderated the "Comics Catalog Curation for Adults" panel (originally recorded on Thursday, July 21, 2022) during Matthew Noe (librarian, Harvard Medical School), Moni Barrette (director of Collection Development & Publisher Relations, Library Pass), Jordan Hart (writer, Ripple Effects), and Jameson Rohrer (judge, 2022 Eisner Awards) discussed what they consider when curating a comics catalog for adult readers, including avenues for finding both mainstream and independent titles, how to curate an inclusive catalog in terms of creators, characters, and stories, how to navigate challenging themes and content, and more.
Episode 752 - Thanks to Our Patrons, Jason Interviews Jordan Hart Ripple Effects Fanbase Press - Ripple Effects explores life as a superhero with an invisible and incurable disease. It's like The Incredibles meets the dramedy, In a world that is no stranger to superheroes, George Gibson is invulnerable to physical harm but fights every day to stay alive. Suffering from an acute case of type 1 diabetes, his invincibility is offset by a defective pancreas that must be monitored and treated daily. This incurable disease makes George's body both his greatest strength and his eternal weakness. What sets this series apart is a positive, person-first representation about life with a chronic disease . . . which just so happens to also include superhuman abilities. But, Ripple Effects isn't just a story about a character with an incurable disease. It's also a thrilling and relevant superhero tale that touches on the difficulty of finding a work/life balance, the class struggles and economic inequality experienced by many in our nation, and the desire to help others during trying times.Support Our Patreon to Unlock More C4FaP Bonus Content https://www.patreon.com/comicsfunprofit Shop Kowabunga's Exclusive Variants https://shopkowabunga.com/shop/ Donations Keep Our Show Going, Please Give https://bit.ly/36s7YeL Get on the Kowabunga (Deep Discount Comics) FOC and Preorder list http://eepurl.com/dy2Z8D Thank You Shout Out to Our Patrons: Adam P., Eric H., Jon A., Andrew C., Bradley R., Aaron M., Darrin W., Dennis C., David D., Christopher E., Martin F. Mom Enough: Parenting tips, research-based advice + a few personal confessions!
Are your kids stressed out by the pressures in our competitive society? Do they worry about grades or test scores? If so, is all that stress worth it? This week's Mom Enough guest, Dr. Michele Borba, offers a research-based perspective on the factors that are most likely to help kids thrive in school and life – and experience less anxiety at the same time. Michele has been an educator, educational psychologist and parent for forty years, earning international accolades for her groundbreaking work on parenting, bullying prevention and character development. But in recent years, she's become increasingly worried about the emotional wellbeing of young people from all backgrounds, particularly the high levels of stress, anxiety and depression so many kids experience. So, she set out to interview hundreds of kids and parents, as well as to consult with top researchers studying factors that illuminate why some kids thrive even in stressful times. The result is Michele's latest book, Thrivers: The Surprising Reasons Why Some Kids Struggle and Some Kids Shine, which she discusses with Marti & Erin in this week's episode of Mom Enough. Her findings challenge the relentless, competitive emphasis on perfect grades and test scores (a “pretty package” as one teen said), noting that such high pressure often undermines focus, learning and emotional health. Most importantly, Michele's findings highlight instead character traits that can be taught from an early age: self-confidence, empathy, self-control, integrity, curiosity, perseverance (or grit) and optimism. And there is a multiplier effect when those traits work together. Don't miss this powerful, practical message for parents and anyone who works with or cares about children. HOW WILL SUPPORT YOUR CHILD TO THRIVE? This week's guest, Michele Borba, talks about practical ways to model and teach seven key character traits to your children. What stood out for you about her discussion of these traits and ways to teach them? If you were to come up with a family motto (highlighting who you want to be or how you want to be remembered), as Dr. Borba suggests, what would it be? WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THRIVERS OR DR. MICHELE BORBA? ❉ CHALLENGES & OPPORTUNITIES: WHAT BRAIN DEVELOPMENT SCIENCE TELLS US ABOUT HELPING ADOLESCENTS THRIVE. As parents, we often roll our eyes at the thought of our children becoming adolescents. How will we (and our children) survive this difficult period of development? But well-known author Dr. Laurence Steinberg has spent decades studying adolescents and has arrived at a much more positive view of what he terms The Age of Opportunity (the title of his latest book). He joins Marti & Erin for a rich and hopeful discussion of how recent research on adolescent brain development can inform the ways we guide our teens to a healthy, happy, productive adulthood. ❉ DIVORCE AND CHILDREN: HELPING CHILDREN THRIVE DURING AND AFTER DIVORCE. When parents divorce, children typically experience a wide range of feelings, including loss, sadness, fear, anger and anxiety. These feelings come out in different ways, depending on age, personality and circumstances. But there are many things parents and other caring adults can do to help children cope and even thrive beyond this challenging time. Child psychologist Dr. Jordan Hart joins Marti & Erin for a rich discussion of divorce and children, a topic that affects so many families.
Dr. Jordan Hart and Dr. Kent Kodalen join Tom to discuss coaching in the context of family law. What is it and when can it be most helpful? What is the difference between coaching and therapy? Can both parents use the same coach?
In the latest episode, The Fanbase Weekly co-hosts welcome special guests Jordan Hart (witer - TERMINARCH, DOPPELGANGER) and Justin Harder (graphic designer - CLAUS Studios) to discuss the latest geek news stories of the week, including the upcoming report on UFO activity, pending media mergers with WarnerMedia/Discovery and Amazon/MGM, IGN's deleted post on Palestine, and Kevin Feige's regret on Doctor Strange.
Jordan Hart tells the story of discovering CKUA Radio. He asked, “what album am I listening to?” Told it was a radio station. CKUA! His reply was “There’s no radio station that cool” With this podcast Jordan has come full circle. Back to CKUA Radio. In 2019, Alberta singer/songwriter Jordan Hart embarked on a 100-day straight busking challenge in Toronto, through thunderstorms and snowstorms he played on. Every Sunday, 100 percent of the money he raised was donated to L’Arche Canada. In L’Arche, people with and without intellectual disabilities live, work, learn, and grow together. L’Arche demonstrates that when persons with intellectual disabilities take their place at the table, they contribute to a more just, compassionate, and vibrant world for all. The Momentum from his daily busking also culminated in a sold-out show at the Great Hall in Toronto and his career streams also increased by over a quarter of a million. As a featured artist, his work with Lucky Rose on the song ‘’Lost’’ greatly increased his profile. Jordan has released a fine EP called Only Pieces Of The Truth and with it a confirmation in each of the 7 tracks that he’s destined to become a much bigger artist. Much Bigger. Add to that discovery that Jordan is also a natural storyteller. He talks about life on the streets busking. Being turned down completely by the young woman he wanted to spend his life with. About shooting his video for Freedom with a small group of actors with Down Syndrome. Have a listen. See if you agree that he’s destined to shine!!

Jordan Hart on Becoming a Professional Athlete, responsibilities, commercials and growing up FAST!!
In this episode, I took a seat with Jordan Hart (@jordanhartsound) This Canadian singer/songwriter knows exactly how to take his own personal experiences to the maximum of what they are. Discovering thoughts, feelings and truths really emphasizes the vulnerability within his music. We discuss how he evolved into the artist he is today, what inspired him to pursue a 100 day busking challenge and we fully dissected the emotional lyrics of his newest single Whole, available everywhere. This week Jordan Hart returns and the four friends discuss Mickey's Christmas Carol (1983). They also talk about their favorite Disney holiday traditions, reflect on what they were thankful for in 2020 as well as their hopes and dreams for 2021. Merry Christmas everyone!
Joined by our first guest, Jordan Hart, we discuss Fantasia (1940) from a range of opinions! Who fell asleep (three times) while watching? Do we really need to see the orchestra during the film? And what happened to Mickey Mouse's eyes? All of these questions and more are answered in our third episode!
Dr. Jordan Hart provides insights into how her adolescent and adult therapy clients have adapted to life in the pandemic. She discusses the comfort level of her clients having therapy via telehealth. She provides interesting insights about what she sees as reduced anxiety among adolescents as they experience less social and academic pressure than normal. She points out the mental health benefits of life slowing down in this crisis. Interestingly she points out that her adolescent clients are reporting that their parents are fighting less and reaching agreement on things like never before, perhaps because there is less to fight about. She points out the benefits of social media in keeping kids connected with one another. Finally, she identifies a unique challenge for family law professionals in keeping kids away from the process when they are in the house overhearing private calls between their parents and attorneys and even listening in on ADR sessions.

I first heard Jordan sing when I moved to Toronto back in 2017. I was out exploring my new neighbourhood when the sound of his voice sent chills down my spine. I followed it all the way to a corner on Queen St where he had a crowd of people in a trance. I’ve followed his journey as an artist ever since and I am so pleased I was able to have him as a guest on the show.
