Today, I want to talk to you about indie authors. The beautiful creatures that are independent, self-published authors. I am an indie author, some of my best internet friends are indie authors and I'm sure a lot of you listening are indie authors, or at least have a friend that is. There are so many men and women (I see you, moms) out there doing the work to get their books into the hands of people all over the world. It's a lot of work. I literally have only one fully self-written and illustrated book available right now and it took me a really, long time to do that. Admittedly, I should market it more. You know how I feel, though? Like I'm bothering people when I tell them about my book. I'm so proud and so excited of what I created, but when I make a post about it, the little imposter-syndrome girl on my shoulder is like KELLI NO ONE CARES. I know know know some other authors feel that way too. I've talked to so many that feel bad over posting about and marketing their books because self-promotion feels like a bother. I believe the trick to helping the bashful Kellis of the world is showing more support to the indies. Going beyond just a “like” on an Instagram post. I'm going to hit on 7 ways to support an indie author in your life, or a random one on Instagram. Befriend them all, y'all. These little ways will add a boost of confidence and reassurance to someone that they're exactly where they need to be, doing exactly what they're called to be doing in their life, guilt free.Buy me a coffee and keep this podcast caffeinated! - https://www.buymeacoffee.com/MomswhocreateSupport the show

Link to bioRxiv paper: http://biorxiv.org/cgi/content/short/2022.08.29.505313v1?rss=1 Authors: Rosenthal, I. A., Bashford, L., Kellis, S., Pejsa, K., Lee, B., Liu, C., Andersen, R. A. Abstract: The responsiveness of primary somatosensory cortex (S1) to physical tactile stimuli is well documented but the extent to which it is modulated by vision is unresolved. Additionally, recent literature has suggested that tactile events are represented in S1 in a more complex, generalized manner than its long-established topographic organization. To better characterize S1 function, neural activity was recorded from a tetraplegic patient implanted with microelectrode arrays in S1 during 1s stroking touches to the forearm (evoking numb sensation) or finger (naturalistic sensation). Touch conditions included visually observed first person physical touches, physical touches without vision, and visual touches without physical contact which occurred either to a third person, an inanimate object, or the patient's own body in virtual reality. Two major findings emerged from this dataset. The first was that vision strongly modulates S1 activity, but only if there is a physical element to the touch, suggesting that passive observation of touches is not sufficient to recruit S1 neurons. The second was that despite the location of the recording arrays in a putative arm area of S1, neural activity was able to represent both arm and finger touches in physical touch conditions. Arm touches were encoded more strongly and specifically, supporting the idea that S1 encodes tactile events primarily through its topographic organization, as well as in a more general manner encompassing larger areas of the body. Even though it does get pretty breezy here, Chicago got the nickname “The Windy City'' from its boisterous politicians who have a lot to say. Over the years, we've had many unusual folks run for political office, like the ACT-UP drag queen performance artist Joan Jett-Blakk who ran for Mayor of the Second City and then later tried to “Lick Bush'' in a run for the presidency.Following that great tradition, Chicago performance artist and drag queen Jezebel À GoGo, now known as J Saxon joins us today to talk about their foray into the race to become Chicago's next Mayor as a progressive who wants to abolish the police. You may remember J Saxon whose first appearance ten years ago on this show “Why I became a drag queen” looked at the rising tide in favor of young people dressing up in drag to define and express themselves.SAXON FOR MAYOR: https://saxonformayor.comPlus-- A look into the Beyoncé and Kellis controversy, and how past betrayals rob us of future better relationships.Episode #3044

In this episode of the Epigenetics Podcast, we caught up with John Rinn from the University of Colorado in Boulder to talk about his work on the role of lncRNAs in gene expression and nuclear organization. The Rinn Lab pioneered the approach of screening the human genome for long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs). More recently, the lab has shifted focus from measuring the number of lncRNAs to finding lncRNAs that have a distinct biological function in human health and disease. One example of such a lncRNA is FIRRE, which is present in all animals, however the sequence is not conserved, except for in primates. FIRRE contains many interesting features, such as repeat sequences and CTCF binding sites. In absence of FIRRE, defects in the immune system can be observed and also some brain defects may also be observed.   References Carter, T., Singh, M., Dumbovic, G., Chobirko, J. D., Rinn, J. -We all know what boundaries are…but…what are boundaries?   -Where do we start with setting boundaries as codependents?   -How do we maintain boundaries when there's pushback from others?   Thanks for tuning in! In this episode, I have a fulfilling and meaningful discussion with Ms. Kelli Younglove, a Consciousness Coach, all about the mystery and magic of B O U N D A R I E S. Kelli describes to us what boundaries are (with a healthy expansion to Brene Brown's definition of boundaries), why they are so foreign to codependents, and how they can truly help us as we heal from our codependent ways. You'll hear Kelli open up about her own healing journey and ways she has created boundaries in order to heal. We conclude with clear actions you can take to bring more consciousness into yoru life by honoring your needs and boundaries.    More on this episode's guest: Kelli Younglove is a Consciousness Coach, an Anxiety Whisperer, and the creator of the boundary course: Creating the Container of YOU— a contemplative e-course that teaches boundary fundamentals for people pleasers and controllers.   www.kelliyounglove.com   https://www.facebook.com/youngloveinc/   Kelli's Course: Boundaries | Creating the Container of YOU - https://courses-kelliyounglove.thinkific.com/courses/boundaries-creating-the-container-of-you  Helpful links for the podcast: www.codependummy.com www.codependummy.com/toolsforhealing JOIN OUR MAILING LIST FOR ALL THINGS CODEPENDUMMY: https://keap.app/contact-us/2302598426037497  Make a donation via PAYPAL to support the show: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=RJ3PSNZ4AF7QC  More deets on this episode: We begin with our “typical two” questions and hear 1) Kelli's definition of codependency and 2) a codependent experience from her own life.  We then shift gears to a focus on B O U N D A R I E S, which is Kelli's specialty. We hear Kellis' definition of boundaries, the different types of boundaries, and the steps you can take to become aware of the need for then the establishment of boundaries.  Who knew that there were so many types of boundaries: emotional, mental, energetic, physical, sexual, spiritual, etc.  We circle back to Kelli's definition of codependency where she expands on Brene Brown's wording: What's okay for me? What's no okay for me? And what's okay for you? And not okay for you? We have to find the middle ground, balance, and compromise between our needs and those of others.  Once we add a boundary, the maintenance phase begins (which is where the real work is). Kelli adds her description of the two-part formula: their/other people's job is to do what they want afte we've set a boundary. Our job is to hold the boundary after setting it. And always come back to the breath.  Thanks for coming on Kelli! Questions for you:  What came up for you as Kelli described her definition of codependency? How do you relate to Kelli's experience of codependency with her childhood friend? Have you too had relationships fall apart due to your codependency? How are you practicing self-compassion due to the loss? Did you resonate with Kelli's definition of boundaries? What boundary are you sensing you need to establish this week? How can you use Kelli's steps in order to set it? How can you take care of yourself after setting the boundary in order to maintain it? Thank you for listening! Finally, the breakthrough you have been looking for. In this groundbreaking book Wall Street analyst and author Tim Kellis takes you on a journey through time to not only help you discover yourself but understand how to build and keep a lifelong happy, healthy, harmonious, loving, affectionate, intimate marriage. Not only will you learn how to build a positive relationship, what turns that relationship negative but how to change the course of the negative relationship back to where you were at the beginning, back when your life changed forever. Most importantly, you will learn the greatest lesson, and that is why, why should two people who fall in love and decide to spend the rest of their lives together learn to build a loving home. Unfortunately, as society has developed we have lost our way in the most important part of each of our lives, our families. Just because we have a 50% divorce rate doesn't mean that we should sit back while countless families go through one of the most painful experiences imaginable.Renowned Wall Street analyst Tim Kellis takes on what could be considered society's biggest problem today, divorce. The journey that led him to tackle such a significant issue was both personal and professional. After a successful career that eventually landed him on Wall Street as the first semiconductor analyst to focus on the communications market Tim met what he thought was the girl of his dreams, only to see his relationship end with bitterness and anger. The journey included working with a marital therapist, and after he realized the therapist wasn't really helping decided to tackle the issue himself. The journey you are about to embark includes a trip through history, where the most significant lessons civilization has learned over the last few thousand years are used to demonstrate not only the way to set up a positive relationship, but the causes of that relationship turning negative.Additionally, Tim dives into the science of psychology to answer the most basic question anyone asks who goes through the pain of divorce, “why didn't we work out”?The basic premise of the book is that we have a 50% divorce rate yet there doesn't appear to be anything happening to help solve this problem. Just because divorce has become a significant part of our culture doesn't mean we should simply sit back while countless families suffer through the agony of splitting up.The toll to society tomorrow because of our culture of divorce today is impossible to determine but future generations will have to deal with this change to the culture that has occurred over the last two generations. For the first time in history Tim will elaborate on a psychological solution to our psychological problems so that couples can learn how to change the direction of their negative relationships. In essence, the psychological objective is to understand what happens mentally between two people who make one of the most important decisions of their lives, to get married. The objective of this book is to provide real, logical help to couples so that they can learn how to stay out of the divorce trap. Good luck on your journey as you learn how to set up your relationship so that you can maintain a happy, healthy, harmonious, loving, affectionate, intimate marriage.Book US: https://www.amazon.com/Equality-Quest-Happy-Marriage-Relationships-ebook/dp/B001NMTCWQBook UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Equality-Quest-Happy-Marriage-Relationships-ebook/dp/B001NMTCWQLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/timkellisInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/timkellisTwitter: https://twitter.com/timkellisFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/tim.kellis The Marriage Support Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/HappyRelationshipClubhouse: https://www.clubhouse.com/@timkellisTim Kellis on Lifetime's The Balancing Act: https://youtu.be/RMVBSXcEBqU

However we look at life, most of us would agree that a good life is a journey that we share with someone special. A partnership or marriage where we are seen, honoured and loved for who we are. It is a life success goal for most people. But life goes up and down, relationships and marriages often fail. Tim Kellis: Equality: The Quest for the Happy Marriage Finally, the breakthrough you have been looking for. In this groundbreaking book, Wall Street analyst and author Tim Kellis takes you on a journey through time to not only help you discover yourself but understand how to build and keep a lifelong happy, healthy, harmonious, loving, affectionate, intimate marriage. Not only will you learn how to build a positive relationship, what turns that relationship negative, but how to change the course of the negative relationship back to where you were at the beginning, around when your life changed forever. Most importantly, you will learn the most important lesson, and that is why, why should two people who fall in love and decide to spend the rest of their lives together know to build a loving home. Unfortunately, as society has developed, we have lost our way in the most critical part of each of our lives, our families. Just because we have a 50% divorce rate doesn't mean that we should sit back while countless families go through one of the most painful experiences imaginable. Renowned Wall Street analyst Tim Kellis takes on what could be considered society s biggest problem today, divorce. The journey that led him to tackle such a significant issue was personal and professional. "You are blinded by your own fear" says Tim Kellis. You've got an unconscious fear (probably created during childhood) that is stopping you from having your relationship of your dreams. When you get into an argument with someone, you're looking in the situation backwards. There's anger, there's emotion, there's a whole lot of fear and you're just going back on yourself. If you've got the self-awareness, able to remain calm and see your partner's point of view then you're thinking to the future. You'll be focused on trying to make it work instead of getting caught up in details of things that happened already and you can't change. The ultimate goal in love, is not to find love but to detriment the barriers you have inside that are getting in your way of being vulnerable. Ultimate connection. This episode will make you DROOL and DESIRE! We talk about food, sex, and love. We talk about self-worth, wanting, and wanting more. We talk about having our cake and eating it too...maybe with a donut and a cookie on the side, if it is in our pleasure, thank you very much. Red wine and an orgasm at the same time? Yes, please! Leigh is passionate about eating. She makes it a sensual practice. When she releases her old patterns of shame and guilt, she is open to receiving pleasure from other people. She wants to encourage women to eat with gusto and passion like we are not afraid of our appetite for life. Pasha and Leigh will be leading pleasure retreats in Maine, which will include workshops around self-worth and desire and the art of receiving, massages, pleasure portraits, scrumptious food, and spectacular coastal scenery.
