It's been just over a week since UnityPoint Health-Meriter nurses ended their strike and got back to work with a new contract in hand. Roughly 1,000 unionized nurses walked off the job May 27 to demand better safety measures, pay increases, and adequate staffing levels. To get a better picture of what conditions are like inside the hospitals and what the nurses were fighting for, executive producer Hayley Sperling spoke with Pat Raes, president of Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Wisconsin and a nurse at the hospital. Anders Forsberg är en mycket intressant person och ledare. Han har en bred bakgrund inom olika idrotter på olika nivå. Anders började sin ledarkarriär inom puckelpist där han var förbundskapten och ledare under två OS (Lillehammer och Nagano). Efter det började han studera på GIH i Stockholm som ledde honom in på ishockey. Han blev tränare för både Hammarby och Djurgården J20 lag. Efter det blev han ansvarig tränare för Tre kronors U16, U17 och U18 lag. Hans ledarskap och vilja att utveckla föreningar och spelare tog honom till NHL, han började arbeta som Scout och gjorde stor succé. Han har draftat otroliga spelare som Erik Karlsson, Robin Lener, Jakob Silfverberg med flera. Därefter bar det av till Skellefteå AIK där han också gjorde succé med sin beslutsamhet, ledarskap och förändringsvilja. efter några år i Skellefteå skrev Anders på på för Modo hockey vilket fick ett slut i Skellefteå som Anders inte önskade. Han fortsatte sin karriär i Modo som tränare och sedan bar det av till Mora IK som sportchef. Efter alla dessa år inom hockeyn landade han i Åre där han kände att han ville ta en paus från hockeyn, han började då som tränare på skidgymnasiet i Järpen där han ännu idag är ansvarig tränare. Parallellt med detta jobbar han som NHL scout men på en nivå som han bestämmer på egen hand.Anders berättar om sin syn på utveckling och ledarskap vilket är mycket intressant och han har en sund syn inom ämnena.Han berättar också att dörren inte är stängd för en fortsatt karriär inom hockey då suget efter hockeypulsen finns kvar. En chef med falska meriter har i många år haft en central roll vid Försvarsmaktens högkvarter utan att avslöjas. Mannen påstår att han är brittisk krigsveteran, som deltagit i hemliga operationer på Irland och skjutits ned i Irak. Det är den andra personen med påhittad bakgrund inom försvaret som DN avslöjar i år. Diabetes can complicate pregnancy in some very important ways, including increased risk for high blood pressure and premature birth. And, pregnancy can complicate diabetes – whether it’s Type 1, Type 2 or gestational, treatment plans for diabetes need to change when someone is pregnant. It sounds intimidating, but safe pregnancy is possible with careful management. On this episode of the Women’s Healthcast, three guests talk about how they help people with diabetes prepare for safe and healthy pregnancies. Dr. Kara Hoppe is a maternal-fetal medicine physician in the UW Department of Ob-Gyn. April Eddy, BSN MS, is an advanced practice nurse and certified diabetes educator in the UnityPoint Health-Meriter Hospital Center for Perinatal Care. Nicolle Hovland is a childbirth educator at Meriter. They work together to offer a group prenatal care class for pregnant people with diabetes.

Palle  Gustafsson skapade arbetsmarknadsnätverket AddAge mot diskriminering av ålder och funktionsvariation när han insåg att något måste göras. Palle Gustafsson lever med den neurologiska diagnosen multipel skleros, ms och jobbar emot alla fördomar som drabbar bland annat ålder och funktionsvariation på arbetsmarknaden. Därför startade han det sociala arbetssökarnätverket AddAge, där ålder är en merit. -Svårigheten att få jobb börjar redan efter 40-årsåldern. Genomsnittstiden för att erbjudas ett jobb för en 45-åring inskriven på Arbetsförmedlingen är över ett år, hävdar han efter grävundersökning. Många får sjukdomen ms i 30-årsåldern och trots drygt tio goda bromsande behandlingsmöjligheter idag, upplever många att de diskrimineras och sållas bort på arbetsmarknaden och får aldrig chansen att visa sin skicklighet och kompetens. Detta upprör bland andra Palle Gustafsson. Han lever med diagnosen ms sedan 1996 och fungerade bra i arbetslivet med bromsmedicin. Ända tills den dag han som 47-åring och flera kollegor blev uppsagda på grund av arbetsbrist när deras bransch digitaliserades. Sedan dess har han inte fått jobberbjudanden och har istället agerat och startade kompetensnätverket några AddAge ungefär: ”addera ålder för ålder är en merit”.
