“One of the biggest symbols of America is Mount Rushmore. This monument, right? But I think most people fail to realize where it's located and why it's located there. Even more importantly, who did it? It's on a sacred Native American mountain, a place that was central to their creation stories. But then you think about who did it, and it was a Klansman. The guy who sculpted Mount Rushmore was a Klansman. People were like, "Wait, really?" Like, how is that a thing? But it seeps into our understanding and our embrace of white supremacy. This whole notion of us using Mount Rushmore as a metric of excellence is really sad. We are honoring slave owners and people who viciously killed natives, and those who pillage other lands in the name of capitalism. That's what America is, I guess.I think there's such a disinterest in education in America that it is sickening. We can't even agree on facts. It's up to states' rights to decide. Really? States can say that this is true in one state, but it's not true in another? Although these states are united, it's very bizarre. I'm hopeful for revolution. I'm optimistic. I want radical change. I think we are repeating history. We are going through a cycle of fascism and greed, and I think we're going to see a lot of states collapse. As a result of that, I think people are going to be forced back to their primal needs and concerns, but I think they're going to be forced to think about what makes us human. How do we become more human? Because we've lost that. We've given it up to technology. How can we figure out what makes us a really powerful species again?”Irvin Weathersby Jr. is a Brooklyn-based writer and professor from New Orleans. But what does he really think of Browny's present? Check out Kyle and Browny's Q&A episodes, exclusively on BBC Sounds. Leave an Amazon Rating or Review for my New York Times Bestselling book, Make Money Easy! When Gene Simmons tells me about surviving concentration camps through his mother's courage, I realize this isn't just another rock star story—it's an American dream forged in fire. The KISS frontman takes me on a journey from a Hungarian refugee who couldn't speak English to building one of the most recognizable brands on earth, more famous than Mount Rushmore itself. What strikes me most is his raw honesty about the price of success, from decades of reckless behavior to finally learning commitment at 62, and his mother's fearless escape to America that taught him the work ethic that built an empire. This conversation reveals how an outsider's perspective, unshakeable self-belief, and relentless pursuit of excellence transformed a poor immigrant kid into the demon who redefined what it means to be a rock star.Gene's websiteIn this episode you will learn:Why feeling like an outsider became Gene's greatest advantage in building a global brandHow watching The Beatles on TV at 13 sparked a revolution that led to stadium domination in 18 monthsThe exact mindset shift that turned Gene from victim to victor in every situationWhy Gene believes the hunt for greatness matters more than achieving itHow to build unshakeable confidence that makes others want to follow youFor more information go to https://www.lewishowes.com/1780For more Greatness text PODCAST to +1 (614) 350-3960More SOG episodes we think you'll love:Jon Bon Jovi – greatness.lnk.to/1608SCMatthew McConaughey – greatness.lnk.to/1022SCTeddy Swims – greatness.lnk.to/1611SC Get more from Lewis! In episode 121 of the Athletor Podcast, we sit down with Chuck Kearney, Head Coach at the University of Saint Mary, to explore the evolution of wrestling through his unique lens—from his roots in Pendleton, Oregon, to building programs at the NAIA level. Chuck reflects on his time at Oregon State, where the structure of practice was almost academic in its discipline, and contrasts that with the flexibility and challenges of coaching in today's collegiate landscape. We dig into the growing concerns around roster limits, shrinking opportunities for athletes, and the shifting value of scholarships vs. NIL. Chuck doesn't hold back on what he sees as threats to the sport's future—and how programs like his are adapting. We wrap with rapid-fire takes on wrestling shoes, book recs, and who makes Chuck's all-time Mount Rushmore.

Strap in for suspense, mistaken identity, and a cross-country chase as Movie Mistrial dives into Alfred Hitchcock's stylish thriller, North by Northwest.North by Northwest is a dazzling mix of espionage, romance, and action, showcasing Hitchcock at the height of his powers. Cary Grant's suave performance, the sharp screenplay, and iconic set pieces—like the crop duster chase and Mount Rushmore climax—make it a thrilling and entertaining ride that helped define the modern spy thriller. While undeniably influential, some might argue North by Northwest leans more on spectacle than substance. Its implausible plot and light character development can feel dated or overly polished to viewers seeking deeper emotional stakes.Join us as we dissect this high-stakes classic and ask: Is North by Northwest Hitchcock's most fun film—or simply a stylish diversion?Connect with us and share your thoughts:Twitter: http://tiny.cc/MistrialTwitterFacebook: http://tiny.cc/MistrialFBInstagram: http://tiny.cc/MistrialInstaVisit our website, www.moviemistrial.com, for more captivating episodes and to stay up-to-date with all things movies.

The greatest Royal of ‘em all, George Brett, can't wait to watch Jac Caglianone's major-league debut on Tuesday. Neither can golf icon and Royals fan Tom Watson. At an annual fundraising event for The ALS Association in Overland Park Monday, half of Kansas City's sports Mount Rushmore weighed in on the Royals' decision to elevate their top prospect to Major League Baseball. Caglianone will make his MLB debut Tuesday in St. Louis. What can Caglianone expect in the bigs? Brett and Watson agree, and their answer may surprise you: Caglianone's best approach, they say, will be to do less: “Try to do less when the pressure is on,” Brett said. “He's got to breathe.” Brett and Watson join Star sports columnist Vahe Gregorian and podcast host Blair Kerkhoff in this special installment of the SportsBeat KC show, presented by Underdog.
