Bobby reveals a team that he doesn't think is going to lose again for the rest of the season. Myles Garrett could be proving himself as the best defensive player ever. Ja'Marr Chase gets caught spitting on Jalen Ramsey and Bobby looks at the history of this offense. Matt notes the power shifts happening in the AFC East and the AFC West. Bobby gives the three best games for Week 12. Super Bowl Champion Tyrann Mathieu talks about being a Heisman finalist in his sophomore year at LSU. He talks about finding purpose after retiring and looking forward to what's next in life. Tyrann recalls his draft experience and where he thought he would play in the NFL. How was he pitched by the Chiefs in free agency and won a championship under DC Steve Spagnuolo. Who is on Tyrann's Mount Rushmore of LSU Football? Are the Cowboys a far better team than their record? What does Matt think Sam Darnold needs to be known as elite? Bobby gives his thoughts on Shedeur Sanders and how he rebounds from this week. In this episode of NFL Second Acts, hosts Charles “Peanut” Tillman and Roman Harper welcome former Pro Bowl tight end Jimmy Graham for a conversation that’s equal parts inspiring and entertaining. Jimmy talks about his decision to retire from football and reflects on the moments that defined his career, including his “welcome to the NFL” moment and the time he famously jumped over Roman on the field. Jimmy also shares his death defying journey rowing across the Arctic Ocean and why he did it to support children in need. The guys also explore what life has looked like since Jimmy stepped away from the game. He’s now a licensed helicopter pilot, a bank entrepreneur and he’s entered the world of venture capitalism. With all the political theater that's been going on in the past few weeks, we'd be doing our community a disservice to not address the whirlwind of news. We opened by reacting to the leaked Epstein emails, including a WILD allegation involving Trump and Bill Clinton. Before diving all the way into politics, we shared our quick thoughts on new music from Wale, Summer Walker, Meek Mill, and more. With the legendary Max B finally free after 18 years, we discussed how he should approach his highly-anticipated return to music. We then broke down a poll of the most regretted college majors, followed by a deeper conversation on income inequality, the flaws in capitalism, and whether it's a system worth fixing. From there, we got into Democrats dropping the ball on the government shutdown, the fallout from the expiring ACA credits, and whether we think the Epstein files will actually get released after Congress' upcoming vote. We also touched on Trump's latest proposals, including $2K tariff payouts and 50-year mortgages, and closed with our Mount Rushmore of positive Black influences. There are four faces on the Saving Elephants' Mount Rushmore of great conservatives: Edmund Burke, Russell Kirk, Thomas Sowell, and William F. Buckley.  While the first three have each had fully episodes dedicated to their life and works, William F. Buckley has yet to be explored at length.  And with Buckley's posthumous 100th birthday happening later this month, now is the perfect time to reflect on his long and remarkable life.   Sam Tanehaus' decades-in-the-making biography of Buckley was published earlier this year and he joins Saving Elephants host Josh Lewis to cover a multitude of ground in sketching out a life well lived.  Sam discusses who Buckley was as a personal friend, his impact on the conservative movement, his flirtation with radicalism and maturing into his role as conservative gatekeeper, and many of the colorful characters Buckley interacted with throughout his life.  Sam also addresses some of the criticisms of his book, Buckley: The Life and the Revolution That Changed America.   About Sam Tanehaus Sam Tanenhaus, the former editor of The New York Times Book Review, is the author of the national bestsellers Whittaker Chambers: A Biography (winner of the Los Angeles Times Book Prize and a finalist for both the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize) and The Death of Conservatism. His feature articles and essays have appeared in The Atlantic, The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, and Vanity Fair.   Buckley Turns 100 Come join the Saving Elephants livestream on November 23 at 8PM EST as we celebrate the life and legacy of William F. Buckley on the eve of his posthumous 100th birthday.  Your questions and comments welcome during this live event.

A BIOGRAPHY OF A MOUNTAIN: The Making and Meaning of Mt. Rushmore, by Matthew Davis Mt. Rushmore, written in light of recent political controversies, and a timely retrospective for the monument's 100th anniversary in 2025. Davis has penned an impressive work of narrative nonfiction, combining history with reportage, bringing this complicated and nuanced story of the famous, and infamous, mountain to life. From the lands origins as sacred tribal ground; to the expansion of the American West; to the complicated and larger-than-life personality of Gutzon Borglum, the artist who carved the presidential faces into the mountain; and, up to the politicized present-day conflicts over the site and its future, Matthew Davis paints a fascinating picture of perhaps the most debated monument in our nation. Gerard Baker, the first Native American superintendent of Mt. Rushmore shared this sentiment about the mountain with the author: "Well, most people want to come to a national park and leave with that warm fuzzy feeling with an ice cream cone. Rushmore can't do that if you do it the right way. If you do it the right way people are going to be leaving pissed." That perhaps sums up the complicated history of Rushmore better than any other, especially with talk of additional sculpture(s) added to the side of the mountain?Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

A Biography Of A Mountain Mt Rushmore From Historian Matthew Davis

A BIOGRAPHY OF A MOUNTAIN: The Making and Meaning of Mt. Rushmore, by Matthew Davis (St. Martin's Press, on sale November 11, 2025, $30.00), is a powerful comprehensive history of Mt. If you do it the right way people are going to be leaving pissed." That perhaps sums up the complicated history of Rushmore better than any other, especially with talk of additional sculpture(s) added to the side of the mountain?Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-like-it-s-live--4113802/support.

Lundqvist details how RP forced his retirement following open-heart surgery, calling the condition a major "life disrupted." The King also weighs in on the current Rangers squad, addressing their embarrassing zero-goal start at home and reflecting on the frustration of his own career, where he often carried deficient offensive teams. The hosts conclude by placing Lundqvist on New York's "Mount Rushmore of Heartbreak," alongside greats like Patrick Ewing and Don Mattingly—legends revered for their greatness but lacking a championship ring.

In this episode we sit down with Joshua  Gale, front‑man of the family‑filled, faith‑driven band Gale Bird. After a magical outdoor show at Charleston's historic Poor House, Josh and host James dive deep into the stories behind the songs that keep their family and fans moving forward. We'll hear:The origin of the “Gale Bird” nickname and the tight‑knit friendship with guitarist/producer Sean, the band's “go‑with‑the‑flow” rhythm section, and the secret musical hook that ends every “Roses” track. How the band balances touring, family life, and a full‑time ministry while staying true to a label that actually cares. The raw, personal moments that inspired songs like **“Roses,” “My Lines,” and the worship‑filled “Your Presence,” and why those tracks are written first for the band's own healing before they reach listeners.A candid look at the modern music business—streaming vs. merch, the power of live‑show etiquette, and why the band refuses to let phones dominate the moment.A quick “Mount‑Rushmore” of the band's current musical heroes—from the raw energy of Need to Breathe to the storytelling of Chris Stapleton—plus a surprise shout‑out to fans and a reminder to “keep the six‑week rhythm” in life.Whether you're a musician, a parent, or just looking for a song that speaks straight to the soul, this episode gives you a front‑row seat to the love, faith, and humor that fuels Gale Bird's music. "Professor, my dreams grow darker. Does evil come from within us, or from beyond?" We watched a double feature of the original "Nosferatu" from 1922, directed by F.W. Murnau, and the most recent version, "Nosferatu" from 2024, directed by Robert Eggers, and we may need to sleep with the lights on. The original "Nosferatu" is the archetype for not only modern vampire movies but for horror movies in general. Count Orlok, as portrayed by Max Schreck (yes, it's his real name), is so iconic that it's become part of vampire lore. The Eggers film took this century-old material and made it so spooky, so creepy, and so modern that it's sure to endure for just as long. Lily-Rose Depp is a revelation as Ellen Hutter, and Billy Skarsgård is securing himself on the Mount Rushmore of modern horror. Nicholas Hoult and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are easy on the eyes, but the grotesque, eerie performances by Depp and Skarsgård seal the deal.
