This week on The KOKO Show we get our Swoopy back from his impromptu golfing trips to make the group whole again as we break down a wonderful week that was in the world of rugby. The lads came together to run a fine tooth comb through the Super Rugby W Final that saw the Tahs tackle the Reds at North Sydney Oval, to make it back to back chips in 2024 and 25. Plus, we go large on round 9 of the Superb Rugby Pacific, highlighting the Brumbies big win over the Reds, the Tahs toppling the challenging Chiefs and the Crusaders taking their rightful place back on top of the Super ladder. Moreover, the boys go full business mode as they tackle all the hard hitting topics in a saucy smattering of Other Rugby News. However, the highlight of Episode 17 has to be our very special guest, all the way from the fortified walls of Edinburgh Castle with his new Whiskey in hand and donning a gorgeously snug pair of togs, it is Scotland's South African chunky chappy Mr Pierre Schoeman. We discuss everything from the state of rugby north of the wall, what it was like growing up in South Africa and now proudly playing for Scotland and finally his delicious little side business he shares with teammate and friend Duhan van der Merwe. So sit back, relax and hook up your IV drip full of Hirundine Whiskey and just let those mellow smokey notes of four flogs trying to make a rugby pod fill your gills with glee. Because it is time for episode 17 of Kick Offs and Kick Ons. Sixties and Forty20 put their rainjackets on as they preview what looks to be a wet and wild weekend for the Parramatta Eels. It is much the same in the NSW Cup where the Eels look to continue a midseason build after a tumultuous start to the year. Friday night sees the odds stacked against the Eels as they host the Brisbane Broncos. Have we just witnessed the greatest opening week of a WBBL season? Meg Lanning is back and she led the Melbourne Stars to an upset win over the Sydney Sixers on their home turf. But then, barely believable scenes unfolded as the Stars were rolled for 29 by the Adelaide Strikers! A host of young quicks including Milly Illingworth and Chloe Ainsworth have lit up the competition. The Sydney Thunder have shaken the underdog tag with Phoebe Litchfield in scintillating touch. And of course, there's Grace Harris. Grace whacked an unbeaten 136no - the highest WBBL score of all time at North Sydney Oval - and in the process, sent the internet into overdrive by hitting a super six with a broken bat. This week on the Scoop, Brisbane Heat allrounder Georgia Voll joins Laura and Emily to recap a wild opening week and the Heat's dream start to the season. Hosted on Acast. With the World Cup starting on Thursday, Australian domestic cricket once again commencing and, most importantly, Round 1 of "Premier" cricket getting underway, it's time for us to reflect on wasted Saturdays. Who will win the World Cup? Is it India's to lose? What hope does Australia have? Can England defend the crown? Should ODI's just be confined to World Cups? Incoming MCC President Mark Nicholas thinks so. Meanwhile Hayley Matthews plays one of the all-time great innings in Australia, scoring 132 off 64 in West Indies' world record run chase at North Sydney Oval. Is the gap closing? Do we like it? No. Dan Brettig is on the show to preview what we suspect is going to be a 'low' summer in Australia, rather, one that doesn't involve India or England, and what I might mean for blooding new trappings for the eyes. Spencer Johnson joins us from his home in South Australia to tell us about his journey from West Torrens to representing his country, via the Big Bash, The Hundred and MLC. The Tip Sheet previews a critical weekend for the Parramatta Eels as the NRL travel to Melbourne while the NRLW are in Wollongong. Sixties and Forty20 break down each and every team and their corresponding game including the Jersey Flegg and NSW Cup. The Flegg are battling to keep their season alive and need to quell the Storm in a contest that is essentially worth 4 points on the ladder. Elsewhere, the NSW Cup receive another shot of youth as Charlie Guymer enters the fray. They take on the ladder leading North Sydney Bears in their den at North Sydney Oval but will be bringing energy as the youth take over continues in that grade. No Rachael Pearson, no Elsie Albert...can the Eels find a way to bounce back from their Round 1 loss to the Tigers? The boys look at what needs to be done on both sides of the ball and who needs to step up as Parramatta take on the St George Illawarra Dragons. Finally we have the NRL where Parramatta go from the furthest reaches North in Townsville all the way down South to Melbourne to take on the Storm. With a congested battle for the Top 8 and Top 4 being waged across the NRL, a win here for the Eels solidifies their push for the finals significantly. Welcome back to the tenth episode of the Remember the Name podcast. We have a much shorter episode this week, but it's because we were lucky enough to sit down with a very special guest. Over the last few months, Phoebe Litchfield has cemented herself as not only one of the most promising cricketers in Australia, but as one of the most promising athletes from any sport in Australia, period. There is a hype around Litchfield that we rarely see with many athletes her age, and the exciting thing is that she has already been living up to it, and more. It's easy to forget that Litchfield is only 16 when you talk to her, she has the maturity of someone who has been around the traps of cricket for years. From a viral video of her in the nets that could rival the most experienced of cricketers, Litchfield has gone on to make a name for herself in the Women's Big Bash League for the Thunder, the WNCL for the NSW Breakers and even the Governor General's XI. She has made such an impact that she was one of five women chosen to play in the Bushfire Cricket Bash with legends of the sport like Ricky Ponting, Shane Warne, Brian Lara and more. I sat down with Phoebe at the historic North Sydney Oval only moments after the NSW Breakers last ball victory against Tasmania thanks to her teammate Stella Campbell. We spoke about how she grew up in Orange playing cricket against boys, the balance of studying and travelling to play the sport she loves and of course the amazing recognition of getting to play in the Bushfire Cricket Bash. Remember, if you enjoy this episode of the podcast, leave a rating and a comment and subscribe to make sure you're the first to catch our episode with some of the best up and coming athletes in Australia. //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Subscribe to SN's YouTube Channel: https://bit.ly/2BQiI7p Catch up with Sporting News Australia on Instagram: https://bit.ly/2zHopmO Follow @SportingNewsAU on Twitter: https://bit.ly/2FST99M Like Sporting News Australia on Facebook: https://bit.ly/2KRB4rB /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

He made an immediate impact for NSW claiming 6-55 on debut at the MCG against Victoria and went on to win a number of Sheffield Shield titles with NSW including a match winning 7-41 against Queensland in the 1992/3 decider at the SCG. This was followed by a berth on the 1993 Ashes tour where he will long be remembered for taking a hat trick against Derbyshire. Not to be forgotten are his batting exploits in the the Mercantile Mutual Cup dispatching a career best 49* off 18 balls against Tasmania at the North Sydney Oval. In our chat with Wayne we re live some of these memories among others as well as finding out what he is up to now.
