In this episode we discuss "Superman" streaming on HBO Max, we break down James Gunn's recent comments on Lex Luthor, discuss deleted scenes, James Gunn's master plan for the DCU, collectibles you need to know about, your favorite live-action version of Pa Kent, and much more.
In this very special episode, Graham and Juan return to discuss the two big superhero movies of the summer of 2025, Superman and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Graham and Juan dissect both films and share their opinions - sometimes they agree, many times they do not - and rate both films using Graham's thumbs-up and Juan's five-star rating system. Juan also shares his connection to the actor who plays Pa Kent and how Howard Stern Show producer Richard Christy's parents helped with the authentic Kansas accents for the Kents. And be sure to stay to the end for an extended chat about the future of the MCU and Robert Downey, Jr. returning as Dr. Doom!
It's time for the Ricks' official (and highly-spoilerific) review of one of the summer's biggest movies: James Gunn's Superman. From backstories to propaganda-posting monkey bots, and from half-baked controversies to crappy character haircuts (looking at you, Green Lantern), the Ricks give you the lowdown on the latest incarnation of everyone's favorite Kryptonian. IN THIS EPISODE
How We Seeez It! Episode 295 Superman (2025) “Your choices, your actions, that's what makes you who you are.” Pa Kent. James Gunn at the helm of the new DCU, starts with a bang. This Superman is a very comic like movie with the James Gunn feel and comedy. David Corenswet as superman/Clark Kent and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane definitely fit the look and feel. Plus throw in some other add characters to make this a great launching point for this new DC universe. We cover our thoughts on it and there is so much to talk about in this one, so join us for the discussion and don't forget about our cocktails for this episode. There should be some good ones. As always, mix a drink, have a listen, and let us know what you think. Or if there is something you watched that we might enjoy or a can't miss series. The biggest movie of the year is here and The Movie Defenders bring you our review like only we can. This time, with help from our dear friend Amy Cass, Production Manager at Warner Brothers Animation, who helped make the first chapter of the DCU, Creature Commandos. Amy brings her unique perspective and experience to the show as we play scenes, get nostalgic, and maybe almost cry. We interview Amy to begin the show and then dive into all the Superman goodness there is by playing scenes right from the film. Superman directed by James Gunn is finally here! But first, is Cody plotting Jake's murder? Are we looking forward to the future of the DC movie universe? Did the Justice Gang steal the show? Does Jame Gunn excel at ensembles? Did this world feel lived in? Did all the characters get enough screen time? Did this have some of the best casting for a superhero movie? How do we feel about Sean Gunn? Was this a Superman movie for comic book nerds? Did this movie fix everything we didn't like about Man of Steel? Did this feel like a street-level Superman? Did this movie get Superman right? Are these the best on-screen portrayals of Lex Luthor and Lois Lane? What did this movie get wrong? Is Lex the most GOATED hater of all time? Was it fun to see Superman get his ass kicked? How did we feel about Jimmy Olsen? Did we like the portrayal of Ma and Pa Kent? Is this more like a Year Three Superman? What unique perspective does Jake offer about the end of the movie? Did David Corenswet pull off an amazing Superman? Would this Superman smoke weed with us? Did everyone in our theaters pop for Supergirl? Was she straight off the pages of Woman of Tomorrow? Did the characters feel real? Is Ultraman Bizarro? Did Superman kill in this movie? Did we like the design of The Engineer? Was this movie stacked to the gills with baddies? Did Hawkgirl murder Benjamin Netanyahu? Did Nathan Fillion kill it as Guy Gardner? Was he the coolest onscreen Green Lantern we've ever gotten? Did Mister Terrific have one of the best scenes in the movie? Did this movie need more needle drops? Did Cody and Jake think there was too much Krypto in this movie? Was Krypto's scene with Lex Luthor too similar to Hulk vs. Loki in The Avengers? Did Superman use a ton of cool fighting moves? Did we like the way flight was shown in the film? How do we feel about the change to Superman's parents? Is Superman getting his ass kicked justified? Is there too much packed into one movie? Who are we in the movie? Does Anthony know all celebrity Anthonys? Do we want to see more Metamorpho? Are we going to see the Justice Society or Justice League in future movies? We are in the middle of the Summer of Superman and this may be the most impactful week for the Man of Steel as his new movie drops. It's probably no coincidence that the DC Comics for the week of July 9, 2025 is packed with great Superman books. Join Jace and Rocky as they break down all the DC titles for the week with the story of the Absolute Universe Superman kicking into high gear as the Omega Men take the fight to Lazarus Corp. Meanwhile Action Comics continues to tell the story of just how Clark, along with Ma and Pa Kent navigated how to best use his burgeoning powers and still keep his identity secret. The final Superman book this week is a standalone story that is perfectly suited to anyone who wants more Superman after seeing the film, Superman Treasury 2025: Hero for All, embodies all the best things about diving into a Superman comic with gorgeous art and an awesome story. There are plenty of other great non-Superman related books this week as well, so join the guys to hear about them all.
Show notes provided by Joe PelusoTen days before Christmas, 1978 cinema fans of all ages were the recipients of a wonderful gift--"...the gift of flight". It was THE Christmas Season that delivered the granddaddy of all super-hero films--SUPERMAN:THE MOVIE. Come with us now as we break through the earthly bonds of time and space, and join your hosts James, Richie and Joe for a trek back to the late 1970's (Disco, Yankees World Championships, polyester, and incredible films) as they critique the film that made "you believe a man could fly". From the sterile surface of Krypton, to the rolling corn fields of Kansas, onto the concrete canyons of Metropolis, the guys relive the grand adventure that reintroduced The Man of Steel toa world much in need of an iconic hero. Superman/Clark Kent, Jor-El and Lara, Ma and Pa Kent, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Perry White, Otis, Miss Teschmacher(!), and of course the villain everyone loves to hate--Lex Luthor--all brought to vivid life by skilled actors, and a visionary director; a cast of creatives that took the spawn of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster and delivered an offering that would forever alter the genre of heroic cinema. The guys discuss all these aspects of the film, and more as they have a "super" time getting caught up in a wild comic book fantasy that continues to deliver the adventure, excitement, romance, and laughs nearly a halfcentury after its bombastic debut! I know I speak for James and Richie, when I say we had aKrypton-sized blast recording this special episode.. And we hope you will experience the same fun when you give it a listen. Just be sure to look up in the sky because as Lois Lane found out to her amazement after Superman rescues her for the first time--in SUPERMAN you always have "a friend".
We're back with Part 2 of our deep dive into All-Star Superman, where Morrison and Quitely crank up the heart, tension, and more silver age greatness. Today we cover Issues Four Thru Six, featuring: Jimmy Olsen's wild day as a super-powered Doomsday stand-in Clark Kent's interview with Lex Luthor on death row — complete with a prison riot Superman get's a real goodbye to Pa Kent. These issues help remind us why this series is a modern classic. All-Star Superman Issues 4–6 (2006–2007, DC Comics) Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
“You'll believe a man can fly.” Join your favourite TransAtlantic podcasting duo – Ian & Liam (Megs couldn't make it—she's busy spinning the Earth backwards to reclaim her weekend while KevDog's off searching for crystals in the Arctic... or just stuck in a phone booth with no signal - as we don the cape, slick back the hair, and fly faster than a speeding bullet into our 286th episode, reviewing Richard Donner's iconic superhero origin story Superman (1978). We're trading classical guitars and military trenches for red trunks and crystal fortresses as we discuss: We look at how Superman redefined the superhero genre before it was a genre—and why it still matters nearly 50 years later. Why Christopher Reeve may be the most perfectly cast superhero of all time, and how his dual performance still holds up. Ian dives into the film's structure and why the three-act split (Krypton, Kansas, Metropolis) feels so bold and ambitious. We condemn and then forgive Teen Clark (Jeff East) and do likewise for Brando but without the forgiveness at the end We discuss whether Lex Luthor is a credible villain—or just a walking punchline with a killer property portfolio. Liam marvels at the charm, the score, and the genuine sense of wonder—while struggling not to get emotional about Pa Kent. We ask: does the “reverse time” ending still fly? Or is that where the cape starts to fray? And of course: whether Superman (1978) is the Best Film Ever. Become a Patron of this podcast and support the BFE at https://www.patreon.com/BFE. Greetings, dear listener, and welcome back to "Jump on the Bat-Wagon" with James and Brian, where we watch through the entire DC Animated Universe from start to finish in the controversial airdate order, to experience these shows the way human beings experienced them in the far-gone days of the 1990s. This week, we're paying tribute to the late, great Gene Hackman the only way we know how — by diving headfirst into Superman (1978), a movie that somehow manages to be majestic, weird as hell, and pure magic all at once. From the second those flying blue credits hit the screen, we were five years old again (but with stronger opinions and more alcohol). We talk Brando's space-lawyering, Gene's glorious villain energy, and how Christopher Reeve is so handsome it physically hurts. Nick, Anthony, and Elise get into the good, the goofy, and the gloriously impractical — including Superman's extremely casual approach to time travel, the questionable ethics of letting Pa Kent die, and the sheer number of times this movie just shouts “SCIENCE!” and hopes for the best. We also pour one out for literally everyone else in this movie who has passed on (RIP to half the cast), while somehow ending up in a very detailed discussion of trains, tights, and what counts as a sneaky kiss. It's messy, it's reverent, it's unhinged in all the right ways — just how we like it. Whether you've seen Superman a hundred times or haven't watched it since VHS, we promise this episode will make you laugh, maybe tear up a little, and definitely wonder why Superman's spaceship didn't have a bathroom. So grab a drink, fire up that John Williams score, and join us as we fly awkwardly backward through time, straight into the heart of a classic. We're doing it for Gene — and also for the bit. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078346/
Mikey & Jeremy watch S5E17 of Smallville, "Void". They discuss heaven's existence, Lana's addiction, and Pa Kent's portents of the future.
Action packed episode this week as we are graced with an appearance from Brainiac himself, JAMES MARSTERS, as Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum revisit Smallville Season 5 Episode 8: SOLITUDE! After remembering an uncomfortable and bare introduction to Smallville, James discusses his excitement for joining the story before the story and all the inspiration that went into his phenomenal portrayal as Milton Fine aka Brainiac. As we get into the episode Tom remembers on set stories during his fight with Brainiac in the Fortress of Solitude, Michael talks about surprising John Glover during their final scene, and we appreciate the dynamics brought into the parenting of Ma and Pa Kent. Thank you to our sponsors:

Host Anthony Desiato digs into Silver Age Superboy in both comics and animation, examining three key facets of the Boy of Steel's adventures in the late 1950s and 1960s. First, Anthony welcomes back Dan Greenfield (13th Dimension) to discuss the rare FILMATION SUPERBOY cartoons that aired on CBS from 1966-1969, which saw Superboy and Krypto contend with alien invaders, creatures running amok, and more. Then, in the episode's main segment, Rich Roney returns as he and Anthony break down a dozen key Silver Age comic book stories, including the first appearances of the Legion of Super-Heroes, Bizarro, the Phantom Zone, and Mon-El; early meetings with Robin, Supergirl, and Lex Luthor; and key tales like Superboy's public debut, Pete Ross learning Clark's secret, and the deaths of Ma & Pa Kent. Finally, Anthony introduces first-time guest Bryan Dempsey to discuss a selection of Silver Age comic book stories featuring Krypto and the Super-Pets, including "The Dog of Steel" (ADVENTURE COMICS #214), "The Super-Monkey from Krypton" (SUPERBOY #76), and "The Legion of Super-Traitors" (ADVENTURE COMICS #293).Support BATTLE CHRONICLE SOL-STRYKER from friend of the show V Ken Marion right here!Support the show and receive exclusive podcast content at Patreon.com/AnthonyDesiato, including the spinoff podcasts BEYOND METROPOLIS and DIGGING FOR JUSTICE!Visit BCW Supplies and use promo code FSP to save 10% on your next order of comics supplies. EPISODE 12: Injustice - “What are you gonna do, a podcast or something?”Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I'm Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody. Tons of Superman news, specifically Superman and Lois. The good news is Superman and Lois was renewed for Season 4. The bad news was that it was at a great cost. Kind of like the end of a superhero movie. Only 10 episodes and The Cushings, Irons' and Sam Lane were all cut from the regular cast. Sam, what are your thoughts? In larger Superman news, The Flash movie finally came out. I know a lot of things have been spoiled and I'm not in the business of spoiling things, but I will say there are a lot of Superman treats and easter eggs in it. Is it a good movie? I don't think so. But I did enjoy myself. The Batman stuff is really fun. It is a fun theater experience, but since it's doing so poorly it'll probably be out on Max soon. Let's talk about Superman & Lois Season 3, Episode 12S03E12 - InjusticeDirected by:Sudz SutherlandWritten By:Michael NarducciThe IMDB & Apple TV Recap is: Lois and Clark clash with Jordan over his carelessness around using his powers in public. And finally, after seventeen years behind bars, Lex Luthor is set to be released from prison.HENRY's NOTES: There's Clark taking away the computer again. Love that he's washing her hair. So sweet. Injustice is a reference to her losing a part of her bodyI love that they're teeing up Luthor ready to kill Lois and Clark protecting her. Cool Lex music. The idea of Lex in prison for 20 years is so interesting. Love that he gets a nice soft boiled egg for breakfast. Who's the pic? Does he have a daughter? Who's the mom?Who's Janet? Foswell gave the Luthor story to Simone. Who's Simone?Love Clark mouthing “no no” hahaWhoa Lex with hair in the flashback? OTIS! Drops wedding ring but has pic of kid. LOVE Lois' look with the hat. Looks like the Jenny Frison cover from Lois Lane #1.Haha Bazoombas makes another appearance. Why has Bazoombas become a thing? What did you think about all the Alpha Male vs Alpha Male FD thing? Is Kyle being nice to Jonathan because he knows Clark is Superman?Sam Lane - I guess in a world where Superman is the only hero then it IS a big deal that there's another super in Smallville. Yes, they had Kryptonians attack them but another Hero is different. Not sure why.Why is it Jordan's fault that Sarah's having a rough timeWhat do you think about Luthor shaving his head vs having lost his hair at a young age? To paraphrase a quote from Larry David, those who shave their head to cultivate a look are not part of the bald community. I think a Luthor who has lost his hair all the way at a young age or is losing his hair so shaves it is better than a full thick head of gorgeous hair and shaves it. Why did Luthor let his ass get kicked? Mind games? False sense of security?Did you notice that the prison standard issue had the prisoner names on it? Isn't the whole thing about prison is they dehumanize you by giving you just a number? So Otis is not Luthor's henchman but a rival. Cool twist. I like that the Warden is just blatant about being crooked. So was Superman and Lois' Luthor one that had hair? Interesting….Damn this Lex is cold. I kinda love it. Oooooh Tornado in Smallville! Classic Superman Stuff! My first thought was, “will there be an MOS reference to Pa Kent putting his hand up?”Superman vs a Tornado is always good. One of the better parts of Superman IV which was deleted. Can you freeze a tornado?! Do you think you can talk inside a tornado?Haha, who are these idiots standing in front of a window? They've obviously seen a tornado before! Kyle and Jonathan just standing there watching?!Oy Jordan, not good. Doing the whole “I dunno” teenage thing. What was that little power display with Clark? Was Clark trying to grab Jordan and he used his powers to break away?Sam giving the advice of “reign him in” - clearly doesn't understand how teenagers work. I do like how Sam explained the flight path thing. That makes sense.Dean Jr looks like he's 45.Does Jonathan also have a video game system in his room?Oh my god did Lex Luthor walk from Stryker's Island to Smallville?!Oooooh Luthor is SCARY“What I want is to never have to read your words again”“But I wasn't wrong about what you are”Yeah Clark, stand up to that bully!“Don't ever come back” - “Then you'd better retire”“Tell Superman he's next”Ha! Otis is now his henchmanI know head shaving scenes are cool, but well you know how I feel about this. Better shave that beard. Haha I knew his chair would definitely be a person Who's Dr. Hook, who's Orr?YES LEX AND BIZARRO! The way it should be.Going with the Horror version of Bizarro. Eating rats and mutilating Otis. Nice.

I suspect, dear Theophiloi, that there is no stepfather in all history more overshadowed than poor Joseph, the humble carpenter whose competition for his Son's affection was in fact the Almighty God. It's a pretty rough role to fill — especially when the kid you're raising keeps using holy ghost powers to murder and/or resurrect your neighbors' kids — but the tradeoff is a long life in which one is never sick or has a toothache. Turns out that baby aspirin ain't no joke. In honor of Sean's newfound status of Father, we discuss some fictional fathers that resonate with us.Darth Vader is not a good father by any metric, but there is still a lot to learn from his story about the importance of fatherhood. After all, if losing his fatherhood status punctuated his fall to the dark side, gaining it back sparked his return to the light.Splinter, whether a reincarnated father to adopted father figure, is the mentor that the turtles need, and he teaches them to understand and respect each other's differences, as any good father should.Pa Kent and Jor El are both fathers to Superman, and both of them make him the hero that he is. Superman's two fathers also show us that families are made from deciding to be a family, even when that decision literally falls out of the sky.Danny Tanner and Homer Simpson round out the conversation. Yes, Full house and the Simpsons. Behind that sitcom character status are characters that demonstrate the attentiveness that fathers should provide to their children, and the perseverance and effort to be there for their children.
In this episode we discuss DC's upcoming "Dark Crisis" event, "Teen Titans Go! & DC Super Hero Girls: Mayhem in the Multiverse," upcoming "Superman & Lois" episodes, the new "Young Justice: Phantoms" trailer, your favorite live-action Pa Kent, the latest Superman comic books, Krypto on the cover of MAD Magazine, and much more. NOTE: There will be no show on February 21, 2022. Next new show will be on February 28, 2022.

Adventure Comics #293 The Legion of Super-Traitors! March 1962 w: Jerry Siegel a: Curt Swan After a day of work at Pa Kent's store, Clark is called into action as Superboy, however when attempting to save an air craft from crashing, Superboy suddenly leaves it to crash, forcing Krypto to come to the rescue. Afterward, Superboy suddenly snaps again and is about to throw Krypto into space along the path of a Kryptonite meteor, however he snaps out of it again. Before Superboy can learn the source of his uncharacteristic behavior, he receives a call from the Legion of Super-Heroes. Going to the designated meeting place, Superboy meets with Cosmic Boy, Saturn Girl, and Lightning Lad who have come to Earth to get Superboy's aid updating their records of which Kryptonian criminals had been banished to the Phantom Zone before Krypton's destruction. As Superboy is showing the Legion, Mon-El suddenly appears and warns Superboy that the Legion plans on betraying him and freeing the Phantom Zone criminals. The Legion members then suddenly blast Superboy with special Kryptonite rings that incapacitate the boy of Steel. It's revealed that the Legion are under the control of the Brain Globes of Rambat, who seek to conquer the Earth, but saw Superboy as their only obstacle. With Superboy defeated, and not considering the Legion members as a threat, the Brain Globes free the Legion and prepare for their conquest. Realizing that the globes had no effect on Krypto prompt the Legion to travel through time and collect Comet the Super-horse, Streaky the Super-cat, and Beppo the Super-monkey to form the Legion of Super-Pets. With the aid of the Super-Pets, the Legion of Super-Heroes are able to defeat the Brain Globes and force them to abandon their goals of conquest. With the globes defeated, the Super-Pets return to their respective eras and Saturn Girl revives Superboy and informs him that she cannot tell him how they defeated the Brain Globes. She then sends Superboy to destroy the device the Brain Globes intended to use to move the Earth. Afterward, Superboy returns home to inform his family what came over him that day and his plan to clear things up with the authorities as well. - via DC Wikia Action Comics #287 Supergirl's Greatest Challenge April 1962 w: Jerry Siegel a: Jim Mooney After spending time at her friend Margie's house where her Superman fan-club has Lois Lane over as a guest visitor, Supergirl (as Linda Lee Danvers) returns home. There she is told by Fred Danvers that the sheriff is about to blow up the tree stump which hides the secret exit to their home which Supergirl uses to leave unseen. Supergirl rushes off to prevent the entrance from being seen. Returning home once more she gets a signal from the Legion of Super-Heroes to visit them in the 30th Century. At first she wonders why the Legion called her because they all appear to be busy doing other things, however she strangely finds them at the Legion's headquarters. The Legion quickly have her board their ship to go out into space to stop the Positive Man. Supergirl succeeds in doing so by attracting a negative creature from space to cause the two to explode. Returning to Earth, the Legion members find that their super-powers no longer work, and in order to avoid a crime spree, Supergirl with the help of Whizzy (the future descendant of her super-cat Streaky) help make it appear as though the Legion still has their super-powers by helping them out behind the scenes. However, this is all a trick, and the "Legion" members are really members of the Chameleon men, alien shape changers who are posing as the Legion. With Supergirl's guard down, they use a Phantom Zone projector to shunt both Supergirl and Whizzy into the Phantom Zone. Using Whizzy's telepathic abilities, they gain the aid of the owner of an android factory they had saved earlier to send in an android resembling the Chameleon Men to enter the Legion base and free Supergirl and Whizzy. Supergirl then quickly defeats the Chameleon Men, trapping them in a transparent dome, and freeing the other Legion members. After she says goodbye to the Legion and Whizzy and returns to her own time and relates to the story to Streaky. - via DC Wikia
In this episode, we take a look at Action Comics #276 and Superboy #89, and we get to talk with comic book writer, Chris Roberson. In the city of Metropolis, in the 30th Century, there exists one of the most amazing clubs of all time! It's members are teen-aged youths, each possessing on special super-powers! The club members have vowed to use their fantastic power to battle crime... This rocket shaped building is the Legion Clubhouse! Action Comics #276 Supergirl's Three Super Girl-Friends May 1961 Writer: Jerry Siegel Artist: Jim Mooney While spending time with the other girls in the orphanage in her civilian guise of Linda Lee, Supergirl becomes upset that she doesn't have any female friends whom she can confide in. Switching to her Supergirl identity when she receives a call, she meets Saturn Girl of the Legion of Super-Heroes, along with two other newer Legion members, Phantom Girl and Triplicate Girl who have come to the 20th Century to cheer Supergirl up. They take her back to the 30th Century and invite her to join the Legion, and introduce her to the other new members: Shrinking Violet, Sun Boy, Bouncing Boy, and Brainiac 5 -- The latter being the descendant of Superman's old foe Brainiac. After partaking in the Legion of Super-Heroes' parade, Supergirl prepares to return to her own time, when Brainiac 5 asks her to stay and be his girlfriend. Supergirl politely declines because she has to return to her own time. Back in the 20th century, Supergirl is contacted by Lori Lemaris and Jerro to test out a new force field they hope will protect Supergirl from harmful Kryptonite rays. The device works, however when Supergirl tries to throw the Kryptonite into space she scares off Krypto. burying the Kryptonite on a distant planet and returning home, Supergirl's force field device is damaged by a meteor and Lori is unable to repair it. When Supergirl returns to the orphanage as Linda Lee, the girls tease her when she is forced to lie to them and tell them she has no boyfriend, when in reality she has two admirers in both Brainiac 5, and Jerro. - via DC Wikia Superboy #89 Superboy's Big Brother June 1961 Writer: Robert Bernstein Artist: George Papp While out with Ma and Pa Kent, Clark notices a rocket crashing to Earth. Investigating it as Superboy, the Boy of Steel is shocked to find an occupant inside that has a star chart and a medallion around his neck from Jor-El, his own father, about his apparent son. Believing that this person is a previously unknown and long lost brother, Superboy is disappointed to find that the occupant has amnesia. Taking him in with the Kents, they decide to name him Mon-El, based partially on the day of the week he landed on Earth (Monday) and on Kryptonian names. Pa Kent also sets Mon-El up with a civilian guise of Bob Cobb so that Mon-El can assume a civilian life in Smallville, as a brush salesman. However, Superboy beings to get suspicious of Mon-El's true nature, and begins to doubt his origins when he realizes the buckle on Mon-El's belt is not made of any Kryptonian metal, and Krypto doesn't recognize Mon-El. As a final test, Superboy tries to expose Mon-El to Kryptonite as the boy sleeps and is shocked that it has no effect. The next day, after Mon-El tries to show up Clark for Lana Lang's affections, Superboy decides to trick Mon-El into "revealing" himself by orchestrating a Kryptonite meteor hoax while they're playing. To do so, Superboy paints lead meteors to resemble Kryptonite and throws them into space so that they land on Earth at the right time. Superboy is shocked to find that Mon-El is effected by the lead meteors just as Superboy would have been effected by real Kryptonite. This causes Mon-El's memories to return, and he reveals that his real name is Lar Grand, who was from the planet Daxam, and landed on Krypton just before it's destruction and befriended Jor-El before departing the planet, and that the crash really did cause him to have amnesia. As lead being the Daxarian's weakness, Mon-El is about to die, however Superboy comes up with a solution to save Mon-El's life, by sending him to the Phantom Zone until he can find a cure for Mon-El's lead poisoning. - via DC Wikia
