Monday Morning Mush! That's right, another episode of your favorite podcast, Bubbles Mushrooms. This week, Rob joins us on the panel for the first time and boy is he prepared. Since Rob doesn't have any frilling anecdotes, Edwards Clean-Up Corner makes a return so he can talk about children with AIDS on Mr. Belvedere and also children being abducted / abused on Different Strokes, Rob's family has left him and he is now living the bachelor life, Luke and Jac went to visit one of the Wonders of the World but skipped Build-A-Bear, Luke negotiated a price on a Stussy hoodie and shopped for HoboLegos! This week, Tony is back again... with a vengeance. Rob wanted to do the misheard lyrics game and since he likes the heavy metal jams, we're doing heavy metal jams. Wanna get your rocks off for demons (yeah)? How about seeing some Kid Rock Roadblocks? EP 139 Jennifer Strassel of Pirate Metal Works Forge Side Chat is proud to bring you a conversation with Jennifer Strassel of Pirate Metal Works. If you don't follow Jennifer I highly recommend you do. This girl does metal art in such an amazing way. She is no stranger to hard work and once you listen to her story you will most likely have gained an even bigger appreciation for her and her work. This conversation is one we were really looking forward to as Jennifer utilizes techniques that are similar to blacksmithing, but are also much different. We share ideas and exchange knowledge between the three of us as we dive into the world of metal art. We also touch on aspects of life that have brought us struggles and wins. Not only is her work something to admire, but her positive choices and lifestyle are something I admire. It's not everyday you get to chat with someone who openly shares so much about themselves! Pirate Queen, the first all-female Pirate Metal band from the Bermuda Triangle, releases their debut album 'Ghosts' on May 3rd, 2024, via Despotz Records. Discovering Pirate Queen is like finding Eldorado. The album Ghosts has such addictive melodies, and it is so catchy that after a few listens, it might transform you into a pirate. The songs are done with the mastery of mixing precious power metal with pirate, fantasy, symphonic, and fantasy elements. The beautiful guitar melodies and enchanting vocals of Her Majesty Maria Aurea offer explosions of notes and harmonies with a massive production that make this album a pirate metal masterpiece. Pirate Queen is more than a regular heavy metal band. When listening to the album, it will submerge you into a story that sparks imagination. You will enter a new universe and experience the music on a different level. From ice-cold Arctic guitar parts to mysterious vocal harmonies and a haunted sea atmosphere, to warm Tropical adventure metal orchestration, you will find yourself floating in the beautiful world of Pirate Queen. The album is magical, with a real story behind it. When you close your eyes, it will take you on a breathtaking journey where you will meet pirates, sirens, and ghosts. Pirate Queen is the first all-female metal band that combines music and LARP at their live shows. They use Epic Armoury weapons exclusively, wear Museum Replicas boots, and produce their own Pirate Queen Sikkim Gin. Each member has her own character with unique characteristics, abilities, and even weapons. Five new talented musicians whose real identities seem to be a bit of a mystery. Beautiful ladies, demons, ghosts? Formed in 1523? Are they returning after 500 years? Descendants of famous pirates have settled all over the world. Their kingdoms control the world's seas to this day. In their society, women hold the highest positions. Some born in this world, others sent from outer worlds, all loyally serve their queen. The old nautical chronicles mention a time when a group of five girls will come together. Who are related and united by the gift of piracy. In the ungodly year 2023, the New Pirate Queen took over the command and continues the tradition of her ancestors. To charm and loot. Their Pirate Kingdom's capital, Lyxion, is a mystical floating island that floats around the Bermuda Triangle. We spoke to Pirate Queen about the debut album, getting to this point and how Pirate Queen found their way. We also spoke about the reaction to their music so far, what that means to the group, how they are going to create an immersive live show, and so much more. Typhus, scurvy, and dysentery will not stop us - the show must go on. Maladies aside, in this episode we are joined by Tiberius to discuss his song suggestion: Alestorm's 1741 (The Battle of Cartagena). The song (and the album it's taken from ) are inspired by the Golden Age of Piracy. The tune specifically tells the story of the 1741 Battle of Cartagena between the British and the Spanish during The War of Jenkins' Ear (as we all know). Meds rejoice at the victory of the Spanish over their English attackers during the month long siege that ended with over 15,000 casualties on the British side alone. Americans bristle at the cruel treatment by their English overlords during the battle and we learn where George Washington's beloved Mt. Vernon gets its name. We left you on a cliffhanger last week, but we are back! And we have Corey Toews from Geekspin for Part Two of our conversation with Darrell Dwarf Millar of the Killer Dwarfs and Automan. The Killer Dwarfs were one of the first bands at the advent of music video with their Heavy Mental Breakdown. They did not stop there. With their tongue planted firmly in cheek, the boys were able to take a step forward in using the medium for a “trilogy” of videos, with a unique storyline running through them that saw the Canadian Hard Rock band expand their audience, garnering play in the US and over the world.  We discuss the videos and their creation and their record label's reaction to them (0:20). Dirty Weapons was another step ahead for the band and that included producer Andy Johns. Darrell shares a never before told story about Johns' experimentation in the studio with drum sounds (4:28).   We talked about Winnipeg, independent bands and labels and dove into a discussion about Winnipeg's own Chris Jericho. (13:20) The boys explain the importance of a band like the Killer Dwarfs to Canada, independent music artists and the message the band gives to the rest of us (18:47). The Killer Dwarfs have periods of taking breaks but in the last decade they have been touring for their longest stretch in a while (19:34). The road life can be yard on the body which leads the conversation over to fitness and yoga (21:08), (and SeanGeek pushes DDP Yoga again).   The Dwarfs are a brotherhood (25:40) with a do it yourself attitude (29:20), which works well into the current landscape of the music business with less of a reliance on record labels (30:08). Today, Tik Tok is a thing (31:10). Pam and Tommy is trending (32:38), so maybe we now is the time for that Killer Dwarfs documentary of their own (34:18). They have footage dating all the way back to their beginnings, including some of Darrell's days in Sphinx (36:58). They boys cover Darrell's time in Winnipeg when he was giving drum lessons (39:10). We talk of the Winnipeg Music Scene (41:14), the great Moon Tan (43:02), Greta Van Fleet (45:16), Pirate Metal and Alestorm and the bands making their own genre rock music (47:04). And what about that Wolfgang Van Halen (48:16). Darrell tries to get us onto Genesis (51:33), we talk another great drummer in Stewart Copeland (56:00), and Winnipeg legends Propagandhi (57:00). Darrell leaves with some trivia about the spyder (1:03:21). We want to thank Darrell for sharing his time with us, an independent podcast. It is the acts like this that renew our faith in rock and roll and the true rock stars of this world. While we may be talking about bands that you know intimately in this episode, perhaps you are not aware of the depth of side projects they have had over their long careers. Our hope is that we turn you on to something new and that we resolve the age-old question: MAIDEN or PRIEST???Songs this week include:Bruce Dickinson – “Accident Of Birth” from Accident Of Birth (1997)Fight – “Life In Black” from War Of Words (1993) British Lion – “Elysium” from The Burning (2020)Glenn Tipton – “Baptizm Of Fire” from Baptizm Of Fire (1997)Smith / Kotzen – “Running” from Smith / Kotzen (2021)KK's Priest – “Raise Your Fists” from Sermons Of The Sinner (2021)Who Cares? – “Out Of My Mind” from Out Of My Mind (2011)Racer X – “Into The Night” from Extreme Volume [Live] (1988)Halford – “The One You Love To Hate” from Resurrection (2000)Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://twitter.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!: https://www.redbubble.com/people/InObscuria?asc=uIf you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/Check out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/

Cody brings up Pirate Hip-hop... apparently that's a thing too. Who knew, Well we guess Cody knew. Pirating TV shows is that good, bad or ugly? Or was it the way of doing things in a much simpler time? Cody flexes his Simpsons knowledge, or something like that. The Lads discuss many, many more things. Podcast on, my wayward listeners. The’ll be peace when you are done! Hampton Yount (twitter, instagram) joins us this week in the studio. You may know him as the voice of Crow on MST3K, you may know him from being an amazing standup, you may know him cause he lives in Sunland, right by the Burbank airport and every time you go over there you think “I wonder if Hamptons home? Man that guy is funny” He may be the funniest guy around but he don’t know crap about LilNasX. We solve that problem in our Music News segment by bringing him up to date on all the LilNasX happening from the last week, including a few remixes. We play highlights from a heavy metal knitting competition, read the latest Osbourne drama, and find out the ABCs of Metallica. Then we investigates the sub-genres of metal. Do you know the difference between Pirate Metal and Battle Metal? You will! Finally, this week, we try to score your pain! Heavy Metal History: The Podcast

Welcome to this weeks episode of Heavy Metal History. I take you through March of 1994, which is as eclectic as it is justifying groundbreaking. Pantera releases their highest selling album in their discography while GWAR fianlly makes their mark on the scene releasing a now legendary album in their discography. Meanwhile, the once glamorous kings of the L.A. hair metal scene, Motley Crue have been dethroned and left behind after Vince Neal leaves the band, showing that the metal scene and music has no place for their out dated style of music. New Death metal bands push the boundaries of the genre by incorporating various elements of symphonic and orchestral elements into the music and the band that birthed Pirate Metal puts out a valiant yet ultimately failed record here in 1994. Records I discussed: Obsessed - “The Church Within” Pungent Stench - Club Mondo Bizarre For Members Only Nailbomb - Point Blank Motley Crue - Self Titled Pantera - Far Beyond Driven Running Wild - Black Hand Inn Gutted - Bleed for us to Live GWAR - This Toilet Earth Bestial Warlust - Vengeance War till Death Tankard - Two Faced Please consider donating to the NEW podcast Patreon HERE Like us on FACEBOOK - TWITTER - INSTAGRAM Download us on iTunes Download us on Google PLAY NOW ON SPOTIFY!
