Hello, and welcome to Beauty and the Biz where we talk about the business and marketing side of plastic surgery, and my interview with ASPS President, Dr. Gregory Greco. I'm your host, Catherine Maley, author of Your Aesthetic Practice – What your patients are saying, as well as consultant to plastic surgeons, to get them more patients, more profits and stellar reputations. Now, today's episode is called "Interview with ASPS President — with Gregory A. Greco, DO". I recently attended the California Society of Plastic Surgeons' annual conference held in San Francisco. He's doing that while also fulfilling the duties of current President of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). So, I invited Dr. Greco to be a guest on the Beauty and the Biz Podcast to talk about lots of things he touched on at the conference that included: The challenges of intense competition Social media do and don'ts Destination plastic surgery How A.I. will affect our industry ...and a whole lot more! Hi Again and welcome back to episode 3 of our new season 04. Haven't you always wished to gain a greater understanding of the mysterious and complicated field of plastic procedures? Finally, now you can. Get connected and learn! Tune in and bookmark the “Dr. Jeffrey J. Roth's Looking Good Feeling Great Podcast from Las Vegas” with his co-host, Darrell Craig Harris. For a start, you will be in no doubt about the love, passion, dedication, and empathy that Dr. Roth has for his patients and community. Plus, he always seems to add in a wonderful witty comment when you least expect it! (PS: for Dr. Jeffrey J. Roth's background, Bio, and reason for doing this show check out episode 01 of Season 1) On this episode we start with a little pre-amble about the connection Dr. Roth's late great godfather has to Las Vegas with swimming pools, Eisenhower silver dollars, and Mexico. The major topic of episode 03 – season 04 is all about the connection between Plastic Surgery and Social media. Dr Roth and his co-host Darrell Craig Harris dive in deep and answer listeners' questions about the ethics and best practices on social media post connected to the subject of plastic surgery. It's all about getting out good quality information, unfortunately only a few reputable, reliable platforms offer this! Many are prone to hyperbole, making strange claims, like indirect advertising. Dr Roth maintains you need to be very discerning over claims that as the adage goes–“its sounds too good to be true”. You should always include these questions as part of your due diligence list: 1. Are they registered board certified by the American board of Plastic Surgeons: https://www.abplasticsurgery.org/public/verify-certification/VerifyCert? 2. Are they a ASPS member in good standing with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS): https://find.plasticsurgery.org/ 3. The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS): https://www.physiciansaestheticcoalition.org/american-society-aesthetic-plastic-surgery 4. Do they have hospital privileges to do what they are doing? Once again, this is about your health and even your life in a potential medical emergency. Dr. Roth goes onto talking about taking medical photos and that you're not legally allowed to alter medical photos of plastic surgical procedures, i.e.: before and after pictures. Especially in a world of digital photography. No using of software such as Photoshop to remove blemishes or filters and more etc… Dr. Roth explains why the use of before and after photos is extremely impactful ~ simply as they say, “a picture says a thousand words”. It's also so important to use the right type of camera. Smartphone can actually cause minor focal length distortions, such as with the tip of the nose. In fact, Dr Roth has had people contact his office to arrange a consultation about their nose based on their own selfie taken with their own smartphone. In reality, they did not need an intervention, and showing them an image of their own nose taken with the correct type of camera in that initial consultation will quickly make the person realise their nose is just fine as is. In summary, Dr Roth advises you to seek the opinion of at least three board certifies plastic surgeons before making your final decision. Ask questions such as ~ If there is a problem, do you have privileges to admit me to the hospital? What happens to me if there is a problem in the middle of the night? Proper board certified plastic surgeons have years of training that include looking at multi-options for their patient's proper care, and this should also be the case with all the surgery staff. You must be grounded and scrupulous in making your finally choice on who to choose as your plastic surgeon and surgery. As Dr. Roth says, “the rubber really hits the road when the scalpel hits the skin!”. Dr Roth and his co-host do their best to demystify plastic surgery, so please email us and ask your related questions. This special “Leveling Up” episode of the Award-Winning PRS Global Open Deep Cuts Podcast was recorded live at PSTM22 (Plastic Surgery The Meeting 2022) in Boston, Massachusetts. In this episode, Dr. Kyle Eberlin discusses many topics with our host, Dr. Puru Nagarkar: the three most important things Dr. Eberlin expects residents to do in his operating room, what he does to effectively plan and execute complex surgeries, how he has improved his surgical efficiency over time, his approach to time management and juggling the priorities of clinical work, research, and family, how Chess and Squash have made him a better surgeon, how the Interdisciplinary clinic for amputee care at Mass General came about, and why decision-making is probably the hardest part of being a surgeon. Read a recent PRS Global Open article by Dr. Eberlin and co-authors--“Interdisciplinary Care for Amputees Network: A Novel Approach to the Management of Amputee Patient Populations” : https://bit.ly/GOXDeepCutsEberlin Dr. Kyle Eberlin is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital, as well as the Program Director of the Harvard Plastic Surgery Residency Program and the Associate Program Director of the MGH Hand Surgery Fellowship. In this episode, myself and Robyn Towt discuss the lack of options breast cancer patients are given after undergoing mastectomies and the missing education she herself experienced with the dangers of breast implants. She will share her own decision to remove her implants, choosing to love herself, embrace her body for all it had gone through and have a ‘flat' closure. Robyn Towt is co-founder of GPAC, Global Patient Advocacy Coalition, raising awareness about breast implant safety and proper informed consent. She has shared her testimony twice at the FDA in Washington D.C., is an administrator in various online support groups for women & has worked extensively with Arizona legislators in passing an informed consent law for breast implant surgery. Robyn also partnered with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) to develop a patient decision checklist that was adopted by ASPS in October 2021. Robyn is a member of ASPS Breast Implant Collaborative Council (BICC) and has attended the ASPS annual meeting as a guest speaker on the patient discussion panel. I am your host, Marci Nettles. I have had a lifetime of opportunities where I had the choice to Breakdown or Breakthrough. It is my hope this Podcast may become your light in the darkness, as you listen to the stories of people I consider “heroes.” Each one had a point where they too had to choose to either Breakdown or Breakthrough! Bài nghe được thu âm bởi Callum Nguyen (fb.com/callum.nguyen) | Nếu bạn có thắc mắc hoặc muốn liên hệ hợp tác, vui lòng kết nối trên Facebook hoặc website nguyencanhtuan.com Many people want to put their best face (and body) forward, believing that appearance is the key to success in life, love and at work. This realization has led men and women to undergo 17.2 million cosmetic surgery (or plastic surgery) procedures in 2017, up 2% since the previous year. Yet, despite an estimated 132% rise in people going under knife to improve their appearances since 2000, cosmetic surgery remains highly stigmatized and its recipients are often deemed “fake.” So, does cosmetic surgery provide the lift people seek, or is it an industry fed on our most shallow needs? Cosmetic surgery can improve confidence levels One of the biggest advantages of cosmetic surgery is enhancing one's appearance. For some, modifying a specific physical feature via cosmetic surgery can be a game changer, which improves confidence levels and self-image. The link between positive body image and high self-esteem is well known. People who love the way they look will feel better about themselves and experience an increase in confidence. Improving a person's physical appearance can be the boost he or she needs to see themselves differently, change the attitudes that govern their lives and feel more accepted by the public. Cosmetic surgery provides significant health benefits to a suffering population In some cases, cosmetic surgery can improve a person's health. A person suffering from regular pain as a result of the extra pressure on her back and shoulders can have a breast reduction. With cosmetic surgery, skin cancer can be removed and open wounds can be closed. Burn victims can begin to heal, and the removal of fat cells through liposuction can drastically reduce the chance of diabetes in at-risk populations. Cosmetic surgery helps people gain a competitive edge There is an increasing pressure for men and women to look younger and more attractive to better compete in the working world. The trend of women, as well as a growing number of men, going under the knife in the hopes of looking younger and remaining relevant at work is on the rise. In fact, in a study formulated by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS, 73% believed that appearance and youthful looks are critical for getting hired, a promotion, or new clients. If this is truly the case, then cosmetic surgery is a true competitive advantage.

Let’s Face It, when most of us look in the mirror, we are not 100% happy with what we see. The human body is asymmetric so imperfections can be found and some are more apparent than others. As much as a person has the right to exercise to improve their physical look and health, the same applies with plastic surgery which can change a person’s entire outlook and well-being. According the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), in 2014: The top five cosmetic procedures were: breast augmentation, nose reshaping, liposuction, eyelid surgery and faceliftNot in the topic five but of noticeable gains were male breast reduction, tummy tuck and dermabrasionFacial rejuvenation procedures experienced the most growth, as 2014 marked the highest number of botox injections to date: 6.7 million injections!Tumor removal is overwhelmingly the top reconstructive procedure performed every year with more than 4.4 million procedures in 2014 So since everyone seems to be indulging one way or another, let’s talk about it! What is the true cost of perfection/beauty? Join Let’s Face w/Wil Strayhorn and Friends as we discuss the risks, dangers, costs, preventative measures and treatments available. We will talk to experts in the field as well as one patient that will discuss what happened when her plastic surgery procedures didn’t go as planned. Don’t missed this informative, thought provoking episode.
