The gang discusses two papers that look at examples of soft tissue preservation during the Cambrian. The first paper is a deep dive into the sedimentology and paleoenvironment of the Emu Bay Shale. The second paper makes some interesting claims about soft tissue preservation in a marginal marine environment. Meanwhile, James needs some shortcuts, Curt is locked up, and Amanda should be blamed for everything that happened here.   Up-Goer Five (Curt Edition): The friends look at two papers that look at animals from a long long time ago that lived in the water and were soft but were able to be found in rocks. The first paper looks at a place where there are a lot of animals found in rocks but the types of animals are different from other places around the same time. This paper looks at what the place was like at that time and they see that this was a place where a long line of water that you can drink made its way into the big water that you can not drink. The second paper made us all sad.   References: Naimark, E. B., A. V. Sizov, and V. B. Khubanov. Mit: Charles Brauer (Erzähler), Rainer Zur Linde (Sprecher), Andreas Zimmermann (Rudolf Roessler), Andrea Gloggner (Olga, seine Frau), Heiner Hitz (Xaver Schnieper), Lara Körte (Annemarie, seine Frau), Bernhard Bettermann (Hans Bernd Gisevius), Alfred Pfeifer (Franz Wallner), Hanspeter Müller-Drossaart (Hans Hausamann), Matthias Breitenbach (Christian Schneider), Mirjam Fiordeponti (Rachele Dübendorfer), Alex Götz (Paul Böttcher), Rahel Hubacher (Margarete Bolli), Ludwig Schütze (Alexander Rado), Daniel Ludwig (Roger Masson), Geri Dillier (Bundespolizist Knecht), Diana Greenwood (Elisabeth Wiskemann), James Ellerbee (Allen Dulles), Henry Camus (Jim), Isabel Schaerer (Sprecherin) Tontechnik: Ueli Karlen, Fabian Lehmann - Musik: Caspar Fries, Robert Rüdisüli - Regie: Buschi Luginbühl - Produktion: SRF 2008 - Dauer: 51'

THE ROAD TO REDEMPTION by Robert R. MalkasThe Road to Redemption is a revisionist history of what writers have been doing to revise the teaching of American history for generations. The book presents an alternate approach that takes readers back to a time when the nation was more united and schools prepared students to become victors instead of victims by presenting to them how America evolved into what now is the most powerful country in the world. It draws attention to those who are dedicated to destroy advancing man's natural instincts to assimilate and allow all people to live useful lives. The intention of RTR is to open minds by providing unbiased accounts of what has happened to man's universal search for meaning, and the obstacles that had to be overcome when those in power used their position to serve personal needs, and the methods taken to achieve them. It can be looked at as a classroom where the next generation will be prepared to accept their opportunities to live fruitful lives, and position them to be free thinkers. If parents believe schools are not serving the needs of children. They should become a more proactive part in the process. Road to Redemption provides a blue print for them to take back control of their children's future. The author's professional career became at an early age when he decided that teaching history would become his future. He realized it would not be easy coming from a blue-collar family where funds were scarce. The solution was attending and graduating from an Illinois junior college, then commuting from the south-side of Chicago to DePaul University each day to earn a B.A in history and political science, and later a M.A from the same institution. He became a teacher at Mother of Sorrows High School and was on its faculty for 17 years teaching History and English. Ten of those years he served as Assistant Principal and held that position until MOS was forced to close because it could not complete with government funded public schools. He next turned his attention to aviation and became manager of the Lansing Municipal Airport and served in that position for the next 23-years until 2008. After his retirement he turned to writing about topics he was proficient in. The Village of Lansing and its Airport Past Present Future has been published recently. He has written over 40 articles for the Lansing Journal newspaper on topics of community interest.http://www.RobertMalkas.com    http://www.KingPagesPress.com   http://www.bluefunkbroadcasting.com/root/twia/3724kpp1.mp3

Who do you turn to at the brink of the apocalypse? What might help us to mitigate the financial, commercial, political, social, and cultural collapse for which we may be heading? Museums and Societal Collapse: The Museum as Lifeboat (Routledge, 2023) proposes an unlikely hero in this narrative. Robert Janes' text explores the implications of societal collapse from a multidisciplinary perspective and considers the potential museums have to contribute to the reimagining and transitioning of a new society with the threat of collapse. Arguing that societal collapse is underway, but that total collapse is not inevitable, Janes maintains that museums are well-positioned to mitigate and adapt to the disruptions of societal collapse. As institutions of the commons, belonging to and affecting the public at large, he contends that museums are both responsible and capable of contributing to the durability and well-being of individuals, families, and communities, and enhancing societal resilience in the face of critical issues confronting our species. Tom welcomes a new guest to the show Robert R. Prechter, the founder of Elliott Wave International. Robert believes that social mood shapes events, not the other way around. He argues that human beings go through cycles of positive and negative moods that have an impact on the stock market and other areas of society. He has observed that conflicts tend to break out when social mood is declining after reaching a peak. This correlation has been seen in the recent events in the Middle East. Bob explains how the human brain is conditioned to think linearly, which makes it difficult to understand the fractal nature of the stock market. He gives examples of how regular explanations for market changes often fail, while predictions using the Elliott wave model have been more successful. He also discusses how the recent mania for tech stocks and cryptocurrencies is a reflection of the positive social mood that has been prevalent since the end of the COVID-19 lockdowns. However, he believes that this is coming to an end, and the world is entering a negative mood phase. Bob also talks about the potential for a deflationary crash and how investors can protect themselves by investing in safe assets like gold, silver, and floating rate notes. He recommends having an offshore bank account and a second passport as a backup. He also offers a special landing page for listeners of Palisades Gold, which provides free resources and discounted options for his book "Conquer the Crash" and various subscription services. Talking Points From This Episode Social mood drives market trends, not news events. Debt and speculation have caused a bubble in real estate and other investments. Take precautionary measures such as investing in gold and securing an offshore account to protect against potential market crashes. Prechter has authored 20 books on finance, including a New York Times bestseller. Since founding Elliott Wave International in 1979, Bob has focused on analyzing financial markets from a technical perspective. Prechter writes the monthly Elliott Wave Theorist, one of the longest-running financial publications in existence today. Prechter has developed a theory of social causality called socionomics, whose main hypothesis is that waves of social mood prompt social actions, including trends in fashion, entertainment and the overall pricing of stocks. Prechter has co-authored several academic papers, including one demonstrating that the stock market can predict the outcome of U.S. presidential elections when an incumbent is running. Bob has been a lifelong advocate of real money as opposed to fiat money.

THE VILLAGE OF LANSING AND ITS AIRPORT: PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE - A PERSONAL MEMOIR by Robert R. MalkasThe Village of Lansing and Its Airport is a history of how the Lansing Airport was developed into what it is today. This story looks at the fascinating and often underappreciated ways that it served the people of the Village of Lansing and the entire Chicago Southland. While the book tells the history of events in the airport's development, it also provides a guided virtual tour through the pages of history and gives the reader an opportunity to participate as if they were actually reliving the experiences. The book is designed to revitalize the planned development of the airport in a format not typical of a historical memoir. Robert R. Malkas currently resides in Lansing, Illinois. When he first moved there, he went to sleep every night under the first ever airport rotating beacon atop Henry Ford's Hangar at the Chicago Hammond airport. He came to believe he was being sent a message from Henry Ford himself about his contributions to the history of aviation in the United States. Malkas accepted this challenge and became the first chairman of a village commission assigned the task of managing the Lansing Airport's growth. He was later appointed airport manager and served in that position for twenty-three years until his retirement in 2008.https://bookstore.dorrancepublishing.com/the-village-of-lansing-and-its-airport-past-present-future-pb/https://www.amazon.com/Village-Lansing-its-airport-Personal/dp/B0C4ZK3ZK3?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DERhttp://www.KingPagesPress.comhttp://www.bluefunkbroadasting.com/root/twia/81723kpp1.mp3
