Since we had the trees in the back yard trimmed out, thinned through, there does seem to be more birds than we've seen in a while. Had to take down the bird feeders as they were being raided and broken be squirrels and racoons. Tree Service Express did an AMAZING job on our trees yesterday. The Arica Palms can now all breath, the Oak, trimmed and much weight removed both front and back. We had a tree called a Screw Pine, that suffered from some disease this last year…had to be taken down and totally removed. No sign that the tree was ever there…that's how great a job they did! The White Bird Of Paradise thinned out and cleaned up to make itself stronger. This week on the Modcast I shakedown the breakdown with Vancouver's own power pop sensations Star Collector. Vic and Steve join me to dish the dirt on the making of the band's latest album, Everything Must Go!They're not holding anything back, the band puts it all out there for their seventh full length release. Overall the album has a strong, modern rock vibe with hints of the influences you'd expect surfacing all throughout from The Who to Big Star to Teenage Fanclub. And while those echoes are there, the album stands on its own songwriting with hooks aplenty and lyrics from clever to emotional. The title track is loud, glitzy and anthemic and will have audiences bouncing along, driven by Who like guitars and pounding drums. Then there's the notstalgic Victory Dance with it's mod scene theme that all aging mods can relate to. Other standout tracks include Shakedown the Breakdown, Station 8, and Victory Dance. Sunday! What a day! Got up early. Took the wife to Home Depot for some stuff she needed for her last week of Art Camp. Got home and found our yards irrigation system had cracked at the iron filter cover! Well water spewing everywhere. That filter cover has not been changed in about 13 years. No one anywhere had another! Dug down and found the wells shut off valve. Why these are underground, I'll never figure out…The well is shut down, the pump is powered down and repair team is coming Wednesday. The show started in 2003 at WHFR-FM (Dearborn, MI), moved to WGWG-FM (Boiling Springs, NC) in 2006 & Plaza Midwood Community Radio (Charlotte, NC) in 2012, with a brief pit-stop at WLFM-FM (Appleton, WI) in 2004. It phoenixed into a podcast in 2020, thanks to the fine and fabulously furious folks at NRM Streamcast.

Welcome to Mr. Suave's Mod Mod World, it's time to get some summertime booze. At last, at long last, summer has come to seattle. This has been one of the coldest springs on record in the northwest, but the times they are a changin'. The thermometer has actually eeked up over 80 degrees fahrenheit.
