Join us for a special episode in which we explore the role of arts and imagination in changing the script towards a more just and caring economy. It is increasingly recognized that narratives play a key role in how we understand and navigate the world, ánd in how decisions are taken that affect us all. As our economies favor the few and are increasingly unsustainable: How can we challenge the dominant narratives that hold us back (such as "economic growth is THE way")? How can we build and amplify alternatives that work for women and all living species? What are the conversations and approaches that could help us move towards a shared sense of what is also possible, based on diverse voices and knowledges?Building on recent action research for Oxfam GB and decades of experience, Njoki Ngumi (artist, writer and feminist thinker), Rachel Walker (multimedia artist and campaigner), Elizabeth Maina (cultural practitioner and podcast producer) and Barbara van Paassen (strategic advisor and podcast host) dive into these questions. They make a case for more worldmaking and 'going deep, not wide', meeting every day people where they are at and localising the big shifts we would like to see. Why and how? Please grab a coffee or tea and listen in on the conversation!Credits: The People vs Inequality Podcast is a co-production between Barbara van Paassen (host, creator) and Elizabeth Maina (producer). This episode was edited by Charles Righa and is the result of a project Barbara and Elizabeth did for Oxfam GB. In that project they explored how conversations can help us shift narratives on the economy and mapped inspiring practices and conversations from across the globe. Rachel Walker MasonEver since I can remember I've been able to see music as colours when I listen to music or compose a song. I've since learned that this condition is called synaesthesia and people often refer to it as “my superpower”.I always felt my happiest and most fulfilled when I was singing or writing music so it felt natural to make it my career path. I've never wanted to do anything else as a job and am very lucky that I've been able to live my dream, pursuing music through school, my undergraduate degree then a masters in songwriting before starting my career as a freelance songwriter, musical director and vocal coach.During my career, I've performed all over the world, coached hundreds of singers from beginners to west end performers, run an artist management company and worked extensively in my community to encourage different generations to bond through the arts. For this, I was crowned Freelancer Of The Year and Woman of the Year. Throughout my life, I've struggled with my mental health and when my children were born I was diagnosed with postnatal depression. After recovering I set up Lyrical Light as a songwriting workshop for those struggling with their mental health after becoming parents. It's a real honour to be able to help people through music. My work now encompasses both of these aspects from co-writing and songwriting, working as a Maternal Mental Health Ambassador and with parents who are suffering from Post-Natal Depression. In 1906 William Gell of Onchan had his third book published containing his lengthy poem, Mannin Veg Veen, which made a poetical tour of the Island. In honour of the Three Legs, William Gell decided to write his poem in rhyming triplets. However, before embarking on the tour, we look at a full-page photograph, the title page and William Gell's dedication and Preface. We come to the final episode in our Manx translation of Bram Stoker's Dracula, with Jonathan Harker and Quincey Morris valiantly pushing forward through the Szganee to reach the leiter-wagon on which is the box containing Count Dracula. Also there are Arthur Holmwood (Lord Godalming) and Dr John Seward, as Mina Harker looks on from rocks where Professor Van Helsing found shelter for them. Dorothy Wordsworth returns from Ramsey to Douglas on a carrier's cart. Back in Douglas she meets up with Henry Hutchinson and Willy Wordsworth again, and some friends, Mr and Mrs Putnam. Mina Harker is describing the dreadful events when she suddenly finds standing at her bedside a tall, thin man clothed all in black who seems to have emerged from the thin white mist in her room. You do not want to miss this episode!! On today's show we address one of the most popular topics of discussion among therapists - DOCUMENTATION! The aspect of the job we love to hate. It can be so confusing to know what to include, how to justify, how to demonstrate medical necessity, and on and on. Lucky for you we have a PT Sparky who works as a utilization reviewer. Rachel Walker, DPT, GCS, CBIS, CLWT, CCI is here today and can explain it all! We asked our audience and social media what their biggest struggles were when it comes to documentation and got through as much as we could in the time. Not only do we answer your challenging questions, Rachel also put together a free guide for documenting medical necessity, documenting skilled interventions and providing smart phrase goals you can start using right now to put your mind at ease! A few topics discussed include: The must-haves for compliance with documentation What the specific terms and phrases are that reviewers are looking for Why being specific about the prior level of function and establishing medical necessity is critical Which outcome measures are most helpful and which to avoid How to write assessments that will pass a review including phrases to use and ones to avoid Spontaneous recovery vs skilled therapy What constitutes the need for skilled therapy and what doesn't How to document for skilled maintenance What maintenance therapy means and who qualifies What the key points are for documenting when the patient's status is either maintaining or declining Why not having a caregiver is not a reason for maintenance therapy What “medical complexity” really looks like (hint: it's not just a diagnosis) Download your free documentation guide below: Documentation Guide PDF Documentation Guide Word doc Functional Outcome Measure Chart

You have probably heard about the Asbury revival at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky. Students were gathering in the chapel for a regular chapel service and a few lingered. Then what happened is the presence of God fell upon the students. Services have been ongoing for about 11 days, for 24/7. People have been coming from across the USA and the world to participate in corporate worship, praise, prayer, and repentance. Young people and old are worshiping and praising God and repenting of their sins. It has been amazing to watch, which you can see on YouTube videos. Revival starts with you and me. This episode is dedicated to Sierra Haley who lost her battle with cancer on April 13, 2022. May her light continue to shine through in all she touched with her heart and beautiful spirit. Please consider donating to her GoFundme page in honor of Sierra for her family: https://gofund.me/846156f3 On this episode of The Girlfriend Doctor, I take a deep dive into breast health issues and implants, talking to two doctors about breast health and one women who survived breast cancer. If you've been diagnosed with breast cancer, it's important to take care of your physical and mental health. Diet and sleep are crucial factors in minimizing risk. Avoiding sugar and adapting a keto green can also be very helpful. It's vital to reach out to others for support and a sense of community. Thebreasties.org is one organization that helps women going through breast cancer treatment and all the physical and emotional issues associated with it. When it comes to breast implants, there are definite steps to take if you think your breast implants might be causing some health problems. The first thing to do is seek out an environmental physician, functional medicine doctor or plastic surgeon to assess your implants as well as other health-related factors. An environmental doctor is trained in the science of identifying environmental causes of what might be making your body toxic, and that includes the environment inside your skin. Breast implants don't have to be replaced every ten years, but usually the warranty runs out in ten years. It's a good idea to get them checked every three years with an ultrasound to make sure the implant shells are intact. Don't ignore warning signs and pay attention to your female intuition when it comes to breast health. It's important to understand what is happening with your body and to be very proactive in your breast health. In this episode Rachel talks about being her struggle with post natal depression and putting pressure on herself to pretend everything was fine. We discuss the societal pressures put on new mums to have it all together when in reality hormones and sleep deprivation make it almost impossible and how Rachel helps new mums with PND through her Lyrical Light workshops. “I think there's something actually wrong. I'm really, it's not just baby blues already think there's something wrong, because I just felt so ashamed, I thought, oh, it will go, it will be fine. And it took me a really long time and during that time I shot a TV show for sky, made an album, made a music video, which Laila was in, I was a little baby, you know, and did it, did a, a tour and all these kinds of things. So people thought I was this incredible person having it all together, and I was just not, I was just an absolute wreck behind the themes and my family were almost like too worried to talk to me about it cause they, they could see that I was really fragile and putting on a front of “It's great. It's like, you know, everything's fine, I can pretend.” Yeah, so a lot of them, once I'd eventually talked about it, they said, “Yeah, we knew something was wrong, but we just didn't want to push, push you in case it pushed you away.” ABOUT THE GUEST - RACHEL WALKER-MASON Recipient of a prestigious British Citizen Award for contribution to the arts, named “a songwriting expert” by BBC Radio Four's Today Programme and described as “one of the most talented songwriters in the industry” Rachel Walker Mason is a multi-award-winning musician currently writing songs with Grammy winners, Billboard Hot 100 artists, alumni from The Voice UK and American Idol, Emmy winners, Oscar nominees, MOBO Award nominees and Independent Country Music Association Awards winners. In this interview, Rachel Walker explains how trauma-informed psychotherapies like EMDR, Parts Work, Attachment Theory, and Structural Dissociation work better in collaboration than they do alone. She discusses her journey to this realization, and the integrative treatment model which she developed and now practices as a result. This model, which Rachel teaches throughout the United States, moves beyond any one treatment modality to focus on the ways in which ALL trauma-informed therapies overlap. Her work illuminates the bigger picture, helping clinicians and trauma survivors alike to be more oriented within the treatment, and clearer about every aspect of the healing journey - from assessment, to goal setting, to pacing, to the application of interventions. The roadmap which she has developed provides a trauma-informed treatment progression that keeps the healing moving forward, regardless of the level of trauma and dissociation. The end result is a process that can be consistently relied on to work, leaving both therapist and client feeling more hopeful, collaborative, and empowered in the treatment and healing of complex trauma and dissociation. Rachel Walker, LMFT is a trauma-informed psychotherapist and EMDR Approved Consultant practicing in Oakland, CA. She is the winner of CAMFT's Mary Reimersma Distinguished Clinician Award for 2021 for her innovative contribution to the field of trauma treatment. She has created an in-depth trauma training for mental health professionals called, 'At the Crossroads of Trauma Therapy', which integrates theories and interventions from many of today's most effective trauma models. Rachel is also the founder and creator of the online platform, TraumaRecoveryStore.com which provides simple tools for improving trauma treatment and promoting the self-healing process. She has written and designed numerous treatment tools for therapists and clients, including the Trauma Recovery Guidebook for Therapists and the Trauma Recovery Handbook for Survivors (in English, Spanish, and Icelandic). Rachel's therapeutic training began in the arts where she learned to apply play, metaphor, creativity and spontaneity to the work. Her deepest and most heartfelt desire is to inspire trauma survivors, and the therapists who treat them, to hope! With perseverance, patience, curiosity, and human to human contact—recovery is absolutely possible!
