If you've been spinning in survival mode, holding it all together while slowly running on empty, this episode will help you find your way back to yourself. When I called over 100 Motherkind listeners recently, burnout came up again and again. It's become such a common part of motherhood, but it doesn't have to be this way. So in this episode, I've brought together three incredible voices to help us understand burnout, spot the signs early, and start to heal from it. First, Dr Claire Ashley, known as The Burnout Doctor, shares her own story of burnout, the signs she missed, the science behind what's really happening in our bodies, and the steps she took to recover. Then, Rhiannon Lambert, one of the UK's leading nutritionists, opens up about her own experience and what true nourishment looks like when you're completely depleted. And finally, I share the tool that changed everything for me, how to complete the stress cycle, so your body and mind can finally rest, reset, and recover. This conversation is for every mother who's ever felt like she's running on empty. Burnout isn't who you are; it's a sign that something needs to shift. And you deserve to feel better. In this episode, you'll learn: The early signs of burnout and how to catch them before you crash What's really going on in your body when you're burned out How food, rest and self-compassion support recovery The simple tool to complete the stress cycle How to take small, doable steps towards balance again Chapters: (00:00:00) Intro - Why Burnout Matters (00:05:01) Expert 1 - Dr Claire Ashley (00:06:17) The Six Triggers of Burnout (00:08:46) Expert 2 - Rhiannon Lambert (00:10:44) Listening to Your Body (00:12:28) Rebuilding Your Energy (00:15:38) Expert 3 - Zoe Blaskey (00:16:10) Complete the stress cycle Remember to subscribe to Motherkind — it helps more mothers find the show and keeps our community growing. Motherkind Moment is your place for calm, connection, and a shift in perspective before the week ahead. This week's Moment is with Rhiannon Lambert, one of the UK's leading nutritionists and the bestselling author of The Science of Nutrition. Rhiannon shares such a refreshing message about food and children: we need to stop stressing. She explains how our little ones pick up on the pressure we put around food – and how that can actually push them further away from eating the things we want them to. Instead, Rhiannon shares practical, kind advice to help us take the pressure off and support a positive relationship with food. I loved Rhiannon's honesty about her own experience – including the nights her little boy refuses dinner completely and the small, realistic swaps she makes to keep things simple. This is such a reassuring, non-judgemental conversation. A reminder that no child is a perfect eater, and that taking the stress out of mealtimes can transform not just what our children eat – but how we all feel around food. The indie band Wet Leg went straight to number 1 last week with their debut album. Their songs are witty: all about love, sex, parties and breakups. We speak to one of the band members, Rhian Teasdale. When it comes to losing weight why is the word “diet” used less and less these days? The diet industry is worth billions, but lots of people think the word itself is unhelpful. We talk to Dr Saira Hameed, an NHS Consultant who specialises in obesity medicine at Imperial College London. She's also the author of The Full Diet. And we also have Rhiannon Lambert, who's a Nutritionist. Can boxing transform lives? The actor Idris Elba thinks it might and he's got a series called Fight School which is currently on BBC 2. He's recruited a group of eight young men and women, giving them an intensive boxing course with the aim of improving confidence and resilience. There's another goal which is to compete in an amateur fight. Chanika is one of the young women taking part, and Rachel Bower is one of the boxing coaches on the show. Rachel is also a former National Boxing champion and a Metropolitan police sergeant. They come into the Woman's Hour studio to speak to Anita. When it comes to getting HRT, MPs have been accused, once more, of betraying millions of menopausal women by failing to improve access to it as they promised. In October ministers announced a 'menopause revolution' but the plan to cut the cost of HRT doesn't come about until next April and now tens of thousands of women are suffering because of a nationwide shortage. But what's the impact of not having your gel or patch? Anita is joined by Dr Nighat Arif, a GP, plus author and documentary maker Kate Muir.

Rhiannon Lambert's path to becoming one of the UK's leading nutritionists hasn't always been a straight forward one. Years before she opened her own clinic on Harley Street, she was a successful singer, jetting off to perform around the world. But it was what she saw whilst singing at some of the world's biggest fashion shows, that encouraged her to pursue the career she has. Some of the models were swallowing cotton wool to feel full, without putting on weight. "It repulsed me," Rhiannon tells Elisa Roche in this first episode of the Career Conversations series. "I didn't feel comfortable there." Rhiannon says later, her own unhealthy relationship with eating pushed her to "learn more about food" and go to university. Fast-forward a few years and she finds herself in another uncomfortable situation, this time after she was mis-quoted in some national newspapers. She describes it as a "really tough period" in her life, and says it made her realise the value in having a mentor. Rhiannon Lambert is the opitome of hard work; as well as running a hugely successful clinic, she is a best-selling author (her third book, The Science of Nutrition, was published in 2021), a chart-topping podcast host, and a new mother. And it's clear from her conversation with Elisa that success has not come overnight. Listen as Rhiannon busts the myth that being a social media star is "easy work", find out what she studied to reach the top, and get her top tips for starting out in the world of nutrition. A hero to many, Jürgen Klopp has achieved what very few have. In the often tribal world of football, he's united fans, pundits and players alike, whilst successfully leading Liverpool FC to domestic and European triumph. Outspoken and easy to laugh, yet measured and deliberate too, his virtues off and on the pitch are celebrated in equal measure. But, now 54, does the bond with his youngest players flow as freely? Is he as authoritarian as he once was? And, could we ever see him leave the pitch to lead a country? By his own admission Jürgen will not hesitate to devour the contents of a full fridge, so you'll also hear from the best-selling author and nutritionist Rhiannon Lambert, who tells us how her book 'The Science of Nutrition' can help us maintain a healthy relationship with the food we love.
Rhiannon joins Michael this week to talk about what has made her unsteady recently, where she feels most safe, and how she returns to being grounded.
