We Are Rosie wants people to work. The marketing solutions platform was created in 2018 by former ad exec Stephanie Nadi Olson to provide freelance marketers with opportunities to create project-based work with the flexibility that comes with working remotely. In return, they would receive exposure to opportunities of working with major brands without having to upend their lives, in addition to receiving benefits that typically come with full-time employment. In this episode of Campaign Chemistry, We Are Rosie managing director of creativity Marie Lamonica joins to spotlight the evolution of Rosie over the years, from navigating the uptick in layoffs and industry challenges to building an inclusive culture grounded in transparency and trust. The nontraditional employment structure is now powering a community of over 30,000 freelancers, affectionately referred to as “Rosies and Brosies.” Lamonica also shares career and life lessons learned from years of being a working mom in advertising and why failure can be a good thing. campaignlive.com What we know about advertising, you should know about advertising. Hello lovely listeners, those of you who have been around for a while will know we are huge fans here of a strategic and well thought out approach to business and this week we're exploring why. We dig into the difference between strategic and tactical approaches and how it's so often the case that we are reactive or knee jerking in business when a more thoughtful approach is needed. We talk about the reasons why we don't often work strategically and the hallmarks of both strategy and tactics. MILD TRIGGER WARNING. Head's up folks at the beginning of the episode we talk about Fi's dear sister in law who has just suffered a recent stroke during childbirth and it might be hard to hear.

During World War 2, women took on roles as codebreakers, pilots, butchers, and farmers to aid in the war effort. These women are “Rosies” like Rosie the Riveter. College student Raya Kenney has been trying to get a memorial to these women built in DC for half her life — since she was 11. She explains what it takes to get a new monument constructed. Join us and photographer Chris Guillen as we explore his story world of Modern Rosie! Modern Rosie is based on the character of Rosie the Riveter, who was created for a recruitment campaign during WWII to attract women into the workforce. See the project here: https://chrisguillencreative.com/rosieWatch the episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/_hUYd5vzjpwModern Rosies are female leaders from various backgrounds who are tireless ambassadors for their communities and industries. The project has a social impact core, looking to elevate women and inspire the next generation of Rosies. From talking about our own Modern Rosie (Mom) to a an inspiring transmedia content idea, we talked through a transmedia plan to get Modern Rosie out to or people, how the conversation of elevating women needs male support, and a mentorship program that can make a huge difference. You've probably seen the iconic poster of a white woman in a red bandanna proudly flexing her muscles with the words “We Can Do It” emblazoned across the top. The poster became known as Rosie the Riveter. Few know that image easily could have been of a Black woman since over 600,000 Black American women were “Rosies” in defense industry and government jobs supporting WWII war efforts. Listen as Dr. Carol François and Kourtney Square describe and honor their accomplishments as a Veterans' Day tribute. Want more like this? More stories of the best darned secret society that didn't technically exist,! We return to the weird and wonderful world of the Rosicrucians this time, with stories of those who tried in vain to join the ephemeral brotherhood, and a number of folks who had to insist to their contemporaries that they weren't part of this group that nobody had ever seen in the first place. And a conspiracy theory involving the Rosies and the Bard. Oh, and we see the return of an old friend. A quick impactful visit, if you will. You'll know it when you hear it. We're busily producing our fantastic shows about the Freemasons right now, and look forward to sharing those with you in the near future. See you in a couple of weeks.
