Hello Groovers, This week's Liquid Sunshine is a love letter in two parts—starting with an hour of slow-burning soul that wraps around you like an embrace, from Donald Byrd's tender "Dominoes" through Leon Ware's eternal rocking and RAMP's daylight dreams. Then the energy shifts as the second hour lifts that intimate feeling skyward with gospel-tinged house anthems from Kenny Bobien, Masters At Work, and Bobby Winans that turn private devotion into collective celebration. It's two hours that move from whispered affection to hands-in-the-air exaltation—proof that love sounds just as good when you're holding someone close as when you're shouting it from the rooftops. At age 60, Erica Rand decided to take up pairs figure skating. As two white queer adult skaters, Rand and her partner have come into direct contact with the interconnected binarisms that shape athletic participation, from oversimplified distinctions between cis and trans to the artificial division between athletic and artistic. Rand's book Skating Away from the Binary is a call to transform gender norms in sport. Here, Rand is joined in conversation with Travers and Mary Louis Adams. This conversation was recorded in December 2025.Erica Rand is professor of art and visual culture and of gender and sexuality studies at Bates College. She is author of several books, including Skating Away from the Binary ; Barbie's Queer Accessories; The Ellis Island Snow Globe; Red Nails Black Skates: Gender, Cash, and Pleasure On and Off the Ice; and The Small Book of Hip Checks On Queer Gender, Race, and Writing. She has served on the editorial boards of Radical Teacher and Salacious and co-edits the series Writing Matters! for Duke University Press. In a piece for Global Sports Matters called “Skating Out of the Binary” and in “At the Ice Rink, My Feet End in Knives,” she describes training in a gender non-conforming adult figure skating pairs team, with pairs partner Anna Kellar of the Future of Figure Skating podcast, as they participate in growing efforts to expand inclusion in the sport—a sport mired in racialized heteronormativity that is also being transformed through critically engaged practice and institutional change.Mary Louise Adams is a retired professor from the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies at Queen's University in Ontario, Canada. Adams is author of Artistic Impressions: Figure Skating, Masculinity and the Limits of Sport and The Trouble with Normal: Postwar Youth and the Making of Heterosexuality.Travers is a professor of sociology at Simon Fraser University. They are author of The Trans Generation: How Trans Kids (and Their Parents) are Creating a Gender Revolution; Transgender Athletes in Competitive Sports; and Writing the Public in Cyberspace: Redefining Inclusion on the Net.EPISODE REFERENCES:Podcast, Anna Kellar, The Future of Figure SkatingDanya Lagos, American Journal of Sociology: “Has There Been a Transgender Tipping Point?”Eric A. Welcome back from a longer break than we, Sherlock Says, anticipated! Your hosts Ansel and Rachael return with a vengeance to play the Frogwares video game Sherlock Holmes: Year One, a video game mostly notable for an unnecessary open world, a dumb ghost companion, and the time you dress up a balloon as a sexy lady elephant in order to lure a different elephant into his execution by hanging. At least that's what I'll remember.Support the Twin Cities as we fight on the front line in the war against fascism!https://www.standwithminnesota.com/Some links discussed in the opening of the episode:https://www.miracmn.com/https://monarcamn.org/https://haumc.org/social-justice/https://www.powwowgrounds.com/contacthttps://sourcemn.org/get-involved/Contact the pod! How did hearing Samuel Becket say ‘fuck it' on a scratchy tape kickstart a multi-doctoral author's archive addiction? In this episode, Yves and Clare talk to Dr (Dr) Matthew Lamb about his colossal biography of colossus intellect, activist, journalist, novelist, publisher and archivist, Frank Moorhouse. How does a biographer navigate a living subject, especially when that person is a self-proclaimed chameleon? Do the personal archives of such a protean figure help or hinder truth-telling about a man who urged: ‘when the facts conflict with the legend, print the legend'. And where does responsibility lie when your subject commands ‘make it salacious'—but also requires discretion about his sexuality and gender?

US health secretary, and prominent member of the Kennedy dynasty, Robert F Kennedy Jr has found himself, once again, thrust into the headlines. It's alleged he penned a series of explicit poems to his supposed lover, journalist Olivia Nuzzi, who is around 40 years his junior. The salacious verses, which include toe-curling allusions to oral sex, were revealed by Nuzzi's jilted former fiancé, journalist Ryan Lizza, in an article on his website. What's happening in the fallout of this scandal? And how good is the poetry? Host: Fionnán Sheahan, Guest: Nikki McCann Ramirez See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On today’s explosive episode of Stinchfield, Grant lays out a disturbing truth the media refuses to touch: the Department of Justice is about to give us the saucy, click-bait Epstein files — the tabloid junk meant to distract the public. But the real intel, the real power, the real dirt isn’t sitting at DOJ at all. It’s buried deep inside the State Department and the CIA, locked away in vaults we will likely never be allowed to see. Grant walks you through his conclusion: Jeffrey Epstein wasn’t just some rogue pervert with a private island — he was paid hundreds of millions of dollars as a foreign agent working for the United States government. His mission?A two-pronged operation:• Blackmail high-profile individuals across business, academia, and politics• Gather intelligence on wealthy foreign leaders, especially throughout the Middle East It was a covert influence network so valuable that the deepest parts of our intel community will do anything to keep it sealed. Epstein wasn’t just connected — he was useful, and that’s why the truth remains hidden behind layers of classified protection. Today, Grant exposes the government’s strategy, the motives behind the limited “document dump,” and why the State Department and CIA remain the final black boxes in the Epstein saga. https://GrantLovesGold.com www.EnergizedHealth.com/Grant www.PatriotMobile.com/Grant Https://Twc.Health/Grant Use "Grant" for 10% Off See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The creation of a National Anti-Corruption Commission was a key Labor promise before it won Government in 2022. On May 12, 2025, a coalition of major news organizations—including ABC News, The Associated Press, The New York Times, and NPR—submitted a formal letter to U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian. They expressed concern over proposed restrictions on public access to certain audiovisual exhibits in the federal sex trafficking trial of Sean "Diddy" Combs. The government had indicated plans to present sensitive evidence, including sexually explicit videos, in a manner that would be visible and audible only to the jury, court, and parties involved, excluding the public and press. The media coalition argued that such limitations would infringe upon the First Amendment rights of the public and press to access criminal trials, especially given the high-profile nature of the case and the serious allegations involved. The news organizations acknowledged the sensitive content of the exhibits and the privacy interests of the alleged victims. However, they contended that these concerns could be addressed without entirely closing the courtroom. As an alternative, they proposed allowing a limited number of pool reporters to view and hear the exhibits as they are presented to the jury. This approach, they argued, would balance the need for public oversight with the protection of victim privacy. The letter emphasized the significant public interest in the proceedings, noting Combs' prominence in the entertainment industry and the gravity of the charges he faces, which include sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. The court's decision on this matter will set a precedent for how sensitive evidence is handled in high-profile criminal trials.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:https://dwt-my.sharepoint.com/personal/perla_dwt_com/Documents/Documents/Closed Cases & Short-Term Projects/Diddy/Diddy Trial Access 5.12.2025 6.10pm

Ethics investigation report or not, details of Trump's nominee for Attorney General, Matt Gaetz, are oozing out. New details make him even less of a desirable choice to lead the DOJ, but Trump isn't backing down. Meanwhile, there are calls for President Biden to start background checks on Trump nominees before he leaves office, since Trump doesn't intend to have them done. That would leave senators without many details for upcoming confirmation hearings. We'll start the discussion with Richard Greene, the Civics Dean. It's spooky season, a time when we often visit haunted houses and think about the paranormal. And if you live in the Chicago area, you've probably seen billboards and ads for the Old Joliet Haunted Prison. But at one point, it was an actual prison. Whether you believe in ghosts or not, questions about the paranormal can serve as an entry into the historical context of a place. Last episode, we visited the Old Joliet Prison to look into a lister's question about whether it's haunted. And that got us thinking about the ethics of “prison tourism.” Is it OK to take a place where people suffered and died and turn it into a site of entertainment? Today, we get into this question and more with Hope Corrigan, who reported on it for The Marshall Project.

The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (05/07/2024): 3:05pm- Former President Donald Trump's “hush money” trial resumed in New York City on Tuesday. The New York Times writes that Judge Juan Merchan “denied a request from [Trump's] lawyers for a mistrial, after [the Trump defense team] complained that [Stormy] Daniels's testimony was prejudicial.” Reporting from inside the courthouse, Maggie Haberman detailed that at one point adult film star Stormy Daniels was asked about a statement she signed in January of 2018 where she denied having an affair with Trump. You can read more courtroom updates here: https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/05/07/nyregion/trump-trial-hush-money-stormy-daniels 3:30pm- Reporting from inside the courthouse, Jonathan Swain of The New York Times writes of Donald Trump's “hush money” trial: “Trump's lawyer, Susan Necheles, has successfully established that Stormy Daniels is refusing a court order to pay legal fees to Trump, which she was ordered to do six years ago after her defamation lawsuit against him was dismissed.” You can read more courtroom updates here: https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/05/07/nyregion/trump-trial-hush-money-stormy-daniels 3:50pm- Listeners weigh-in on the judge's decision to allow adult film star Stormy Daniels to share salacious details of her alleged affair with former President Donald Trump. Could her testimony in court impact the jury's final verdict? 4:05pm- On his podcast, film director and progressive activist Michael Moore implored Gen Z to create more encampments on college campuses across the country. 4:10pm- In 2016, Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner published an opinion piece in the New York Observer: “The Donald Trump I Know” where he explained that “Donald Trump is not anti-Semitic and he's not a racist. Despite the best efforts of his political opponents and a large swath of the media to hold Donald Trump accountable for the utterances of even the most fringe of his supporters—a standard to which no other candidate is ever held.” Rich notes that the violent, antisemitic protesters living in encampments on college campuses are not Trump supporters—they are members of the Democrat party, but the media isn't holding the left accountable. Isn't that a double standard? You can read the full editorial here: https://observer.com/2016/07/jared-kushner-the-donald-trump-i-know/ 4:30pm- Tudor Dixon—Former Republican Nominee for Governor of Michigan & host of The Tudor Dixon Podcast—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's prospects of winning Michigan in 2024. At one point, Donald Trump's attorney Susan Necheles accused Stormy Daniels of attempting to extort the former president. Daniels responded by repeatedly shouting “false!” 5:05pm- The Drive at 5 begins with Rich announcing an upcoming appearance on Fox News, and Henry fuming over faulty streaming equipment. 5:15pm- Andrew C. McCarthy of National Review writes that in Donald Trump “hush money” trial, humiliation is the point: “As porn star Stormy Daniels's testimony unfolds, what has always been obvious becomes even more explicit: The point of this trial is to bruise Donald Trump politically—to humiliate him with a tawdry sexual episode from nearly 20 years ago that is utterly unnecessary to prove the charges in the indictment.” You can read the full article here: https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/stormy-testimony-shows-trumps-humiliation-is-the-point-of-braggs-prosecution/ 5:40pm- After court concluded on Tuesday, former President Donald Trump spoke with the press briefly and declared that the case against him is a “complete disaster.” The trial will resume on Thursday. 5:50pm- Perry Stein and Devlin Barrett of The Washington Post report: “Donald Trump's Florida trial for allegedly mishandling classified documents and obstructing government efforts to retrieve them has been pushed back indefinitely, U.S. District Judge Aileen M. Cannon ruled Tuesday, increasing the chance that Trump's New York criminal trial may be the only one to happen before the November election.” You can read the full report here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2024/05/07/trump-classified-documents-trial-delayed-cannon-florida/ 5:55pm- While speaking at the Milken Institute Global Conference, New York Governor Kathy Hochul bizarrely proclaimed that black children from the Bronx do not know about computers.
