I changed some of the ways which my lodge runs, and over the last 9 months it's been for the better. Now, this wouldn't be achievable if the Worshipful Master wasn't on board. But, I'm glad that he gave me that latitude as Senior Warden to do so. As a “Past Master” I took on SW to fill a gap in the officers, something which all PM's are well accustomed to. However this has allowed me the opportunity to also take charge of the workmen, just as King Solomon (WM) charged King Hiram to do.Show Notes:Read original article on SubstackFollow the Daily Masonic Progress Podcast on SpotifySubscribe to the Daily Masonic Progress Podcast on Apple PodcastsRead and subscribe to Daily Masonic Progress on SubstackWatch and Subscribe Youtube
This interview has been long overdue. Brother Jason E. Reichenberg from Texas reached out to me on January 17th, 2024. Brother Reichenberg is the Senior Warden of Victory Lodge in Texas and if all goes well will sit in the east next year. What he said was that he had lost 55 pounds and that he attributed it the Freemasonry. Life happens, you get a new job, you get married, you begin to focus on making more money, and the next thing you know you're 60lb. overweight. Ep. #295. I am a Freemason. Here is my confession. I've been out of the lodge since 2012, and I do toy with the idea of joining again. Since 2006, I've heard every accusation against the Masons that I can imagine. The most common is that we run the world and/or worship the devil. What I find is that once peoples minds have been made up, that's it. No discussion can be had. To diminish the fact that I'm an ACTUAL Mason, it's always the same comment: "you just didn't get high enough to learn the truth". This has ALWAYS been said to me as a statement, never once has anyone ever asked, "did you make it to the highest levels?" People prefer to assume, instead of ask. I was a Master Mason, sat as a Senior Warden, and was elected to be Master of the lodge, Sherwood #183. Masonry does not have a vertical hierarchy. Instead, we have a system of lateral progression, which is baffling to most folks. We don't hold office above each other. Instead, we walk WITH each other as guides on our journey. Our system is a threat to the notion of hierarchal establishments. It's little wonder that we are attacked so often, and so viciously. Are all Freemasons good people? Nope. Definitely not. Just like EVERY group of people, we have some bad apples, and a whole lot of good eggs. Veterans, Police, Nurses, Trades people, Politicians, ....all are groups of individuals. Some are bad, some are good. The lessons of freemasonry however are wonderful. Faith, Hope, Charity. Good stuff. Brotherly love, and harmony. Very good stuff. I hope you enjoyed this episode. Be well. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/tango-romeo/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/tango-romeo/support

The heart behind activism can sometimes be overlooked– but it's often what grounds us in why we do this work. That couldn't be more true for the Episcopal Diocese of Utah. This spring, they passed a Resolution in support of America's Red Rock Wilderness Act (ARRWA) and Grand Staircase-Escalante and Bears Ears National Monuments. The church's support benefits future generations of Americans and show respect for Indigenous people with ties to the land, and it furthers action to combat climate change and stem the global loss of biodiversity by protecting habitat for all living beings.Joining this episode to discuss the importance of this resolution as one component of protecting all living things are three people from the Episcopal Church in Utah: the Very Reverend Tyler Doherty, the Dean & Rector at St Mark's Cathedral; Ron Barness, a longtime member of St Mark's who serves on the vestry and is chair of the Creation Care sub-committee for the Episcopal Diocese of Utah; and Forrest Cuch, a Ute tribal Elder, Senior Warden at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church in Whiterocks, Utah, and a member of the Creation Care sub-committee. Show Summary . Darren Wallace served the State of Texas for more than 28 years in various positions with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He began his career working on Death Row as a Correctional Officer, and worked his way up to the role of Senior Warden at one of Texas' largest prisons, housing over 3,000 inmates. Shortly after his retirement, one of Wallace's previous inmates reached out to him to encourage him to apply at a staffing agency for second chances, owing to his leadership inside prison. Wallace is now the Criminal Justice Consultant to Cornbread Hustle, which helps people coming out of prison find meaningful employment. . In this episode I ask Darren about his perspective on inmates when he first started and how that compares to his perspective now. We talk about everything from how and why he got started in corrections, to faith based dorms, to high tax appraisals, to death row, and how he coped with one of his officers being murdered. . We were so honoured that Kim agreed to do our podcast - he has made so many immeasurably magical wildlife programs, all completely unique because Kim actually immerses himself into his subjects lives, gains their trust and thereby catches a lot of unseen footage of the species he is following. Man Cheetah Wild is one of the best cheetah programs we have ever seen. "It's about the lifestyle and cameras provide me with the challenge to bring home stunning images and footage to share with the world helping create an international awareness in Africa's wildlife. I spend years in the field following my film subjects allowing me to become very intimate with them until they behave in the most natural way and ignore my presence. It goes beyond that too, when the animals grant me the absolute privilege of becoming a part of their lives. There is little, if anything, in life that can be more gratifying. It brings us back to the day when we too (man) used to roam the African plains living alongside these wild animals. A far more natural way of filming… It would be very selfish of me to experience and live this special life without sharing it with the world. So yes, maybe it is about the camera… WHERE DID IT ALL START? I had the good fortune of spending my early years growing up in the wilds of Africa: the Kruger National Park, South Africa, where my father, Henry Wolhuter, was the Head Ranger. My grandfather, Harry Wolhuter, the very first ranger of the Kruger National Park, is a national legend being the only man ever to kill an adult male lion single handed with a knife after it had pulled him from his horse. After my 2 years national service in the South African mounted infantry and a degree in Grassland Science I entered the wildlife arena managing a game farm in Botswana. Later I served as Senior Warden of Mlawula Nature Reserve in Swaziland before taking up the camera. Today I find myself following the family tradition, although in a slightly different way, making documentaries on southern African Wildlife. Since 1988 I have made wildlife documentaries for National Geographic, BBC, Discovery Channel and Animal Planet. I have now developed a very different niche in the wildlife filmmaking market, where I spend at least 2yrs on a production, getting to bond and develop very intimate relationships with my film subjects, all wild African animals. In the past these have included Leopard, Hyaena, Cheetah and African Wild Dogs. Through these intimate alliances I am not only able to document the animal's lives up close and personal, but people are seeing these animals in a way they've never seen them before and are able to engage more with the animal and almost feel what it's like to be that animal. I walk, run, hunt and sleep with these animals so much so that they completely accept my presence so everything I document is totally natural behaviour. This intimacy also provides a new look into animal behaviour, which at times is new to science. I have a very unique and natural affinity to develop these relationships with wild animals. Currently I live on Sango Wildlife Reserve in the Save Valley Conservancy in Zimbabwe, where I'm out every day and often all night living alongside my film subjects. This is no job, but a true passion handed down through generations of our Wolhuter family. Before retiring in 1948 after 44 years service in the Kruger National Park my grandfather Harry wrote: “My long experience has taught me that, thrilling the pleasures of shooting undoubtedly are, infinitely greater and far more lasting pleasure and interest can be obtained from the observation and study of wild animals, unafraid and uninterfered with, in their natural haunts; and I have never regretted my metamorphosis from hunter to guardian!” I can only hope he would be proud of me today…"

Located in the Rift Valley, Lake Bogoria National Reserve is a stunning place. It is adorned by a pink cloud of flamingos and geysers bubbling with the most spectacular hot water volcanic springs. But unfortunately, James Kimaru, the Lake Bogoria National Reserve Senior warden, told the Africa Climate Conversations that the lake has increased by more than 10 kilometres, and 90 percent of these hot springs are underwater. “With the rising temperatures resulting to enhanced rains the alkaline Lake Bogoria, fresh water lakes Baringo and Lake 94 might merge resulting to a massive biodiversity loss as a result. Kenyan's lack of interest in research for low financial allocation on conservation research,” Kimaru warned. Annually the lake earns Kenya between Kshs70-80 million, but visits have reduced by over 95 percent over the last year. But despite its tourist attraction and revenue generation Kimaru says only five percent of the Baringo county - home to three flooded rift valley lakes budget goes to conservation research. “A lot of research has been conducted in terms of water quality, inflow rates and soil texture but none has ever been done on the lake's level increase. The phenomenon has not been experienced,” Kimaru told the Africa Climate conversations.
Dewi Davies is the National Trust's Project Manger for the Upper Conwy Catchment Project -a landscape scale project to improve the quality of the environment and heritage of the Upper Conwy catchment. Dewi comes from a background of working in the uplands on land management, access and conservation. He has also worked for Snowdonia National Park as Senior Warden and was the first Cwm Idwal partnership officer. Dewi believes in taking action to improve access to the countryside and land management for nature, and doing this with other people who care about the same things. A fluent welsh speaker, Dewi wants future generations of people living and caring for Eryri to be able to spiritually connect with this special place, its names and its people through Cymraeg. He is a passionate believer that the communities of Eryri can work together and lead the way in protecting its special qualities, and that even when individuals can seem at odds with each other, there is always common ground. Perhaps this passion can be traced back to his childhood, roaming the hills and valleys above his home town of Llanfairfechan. We'll be trying to find out where Dewi comes from, what makes him tick and how he has landed a succession of dream jobs.

Micah Childs, Senior Warden of Grace Church, preaches a sermon on Colossians 1, in which Paul greets this church in a letter from his prison cell. What good news does he share with them? That Christ has done everything for them: rescued them from their enemy, transferred them into his kingdom, redeemed them from their sin, and forgiven their every transgression. This is Good News indeed.

Rev. Francene Young, Christian Tradition Wednesday, December 5, 2018 For the month of December, the Rothko Chapel presented a contemplative practice on the topic of "Justice," led by Rev. Francene Young of St. Luke the Evangelist Episcopal Church. Rev. Young led participants in reflections on passages related to the theme of justice from three different interpretations of the Bible, while providing prayers for families on the border. About the presenter: The Rev. Francene Young is the current Transition Minister for the Episcopal Diocese of Texas and the Vicar at St. Luke the Evangelist Episcopal Church. While working as a Vice President in Human Resources for a global energy company, she attended the Episcopal Diocese of Texas Iona School for Ministry. After successfully completing the three-year program, Francene was ordained a Transitional Deacon in 2011 and a Priest in January 2012. Growing up in Cleveland, Ohio, she attended the Baptist church until being introduced to the Episcopal Church at age seventeen. After participating in a citywide Episcopal youth group in the Diocese of Ohio, Francene and her five younger siblings were confirmed in the Episcopal Church. When she was a junior in college, she led a parish on Cleveland's near west side during their transition between vicars. In the church, she has served as Senior Warden, Treasurer, Head of Lay Ministries, Verger, Christian Formation instructor, and Lay Eucharistic Minister. Francene has a master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health and an undergraduate in Social Services from Cleveland State University. About the series: Since September 2005, on the first Wednesday of each month at 12pm, the Rothko Chapel hosts a contemplative practice focusing on different spiritual or faith traditions featuring teachers and religious leaders from throughout the greater Houston community. This series provides opportunities for visitors to learn more about specific spiritual and faith traditions and experience a contemplative practice.

Chad Gappa, Arizona No. 2, talks about his role as the Senior Warden, how his mentor shaped his life as a Mason, and how he got involved in Freemasonry. NOTE: This interview series began without dedicated microphones so some of the early interviews can be a little hard to hear. Turn up the volume on this one but be assured that the quality improves in later interviews. Recorded January 11th, 2016
In this show, the first of our summer season, we are joined by special guest Dr. Ramesh Rhagavan to give us an introduction to mysticism from the Hindu perspective. Ramesh is Professor and Associate Dean for Research at the School of Social Work at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, in New Brunswick. He is also a member of the core faculty of the Rutgers Institute for Health, Health Care Policy, and Aging Research. He is both an MD and a PhD, so I guess you could call him a high degree Mason (i crack myself up sometimes). He was initiated, passed and raised in Ionic Lodge No 520 (now Ionic Composite Lodge No 520) in 1999 in Los Angeles, CA. He is a current member of Tuscan Lodge No 360 in St Louis, MO, where he was most recently Senior Warden. I really enjoyed our conversation with Ramesh, and learned a lot about the Hindu perspectives. It gave me new insights to my own practice and I hope you enjoy the conversation. We recorded this almost a month ago, so the Masonic news is a little bit stale. For those who are wondering why the show was delayed, we had a technical bug that was inserting noise into the audio. We worked with the software developer and fixed the bug (we think it was due to a change Apple made to OS X). Should be all fixed now and blue skies going forward.
