After getting an update on Cody's health (and what I heard as “butt nerves”?) we have a conversation (with a number of technical difficulties) about some quick updates on: Stanely Cup, golf and the LIV league, and then a bit about of youth basketball as Angela joined us, as we to talked way too briefly about DeShaun Watson and the questions about the state of the NFL regarding sexual misconduct and ethics. We had a fun conversation with someone whose venn diagram of interests looks a bit like Cody's and Craig's. Years ago, when Cody wondered who could discuss theology, sports, and pastoring, he asked Craig. And today's guest covers those three areas with astounding excellence. We speak with writer, pastor, and athlete, Angela Denker around the upcoming release of her updated book, Red State Christians. Revising and updating parts of the book, Angela is highlighting the emerging impact of white Christian nationalism. Since having written the book, there's been a pandemic, George Floyd was murdered just miles from her home, there was a movement toward racial reckoning and justice, and an attempted insurrection. In all these things, the voice of white Christian nationalism broadcast an over-sized voice, and it needs to be called out. Additionally, we got into some deep theological issues around atonement and incarnation. The white Christian nationalistic movements have, in effect, denied Jesus his ancient Palestinian identity, and evangelicals (as well as any other Christians) need to wake up to this. Pre-order Angela Denker's updated book, from https://www.indiebound.org/book/9781506482507You can read at her site https://www.angeladenker.com/ and her blog, which also points to other published work at: https://agoodchristianwoman.blogspot.com/ And Angela keeps an active Twitter feed, which is a great place to follow her.

Hour 1: Boomer is back but he's broadcasting from home as he tested positive for Covid. He did a 40 mile bike ride right before testing. He also had antibody treatments. Tomorrow is Judgment Day for Aaron Judge and the Yankees. There is an arbitration meeting. Jerry is here for his first update. Gerrit Cole took a no hitter into the 8th and ended up with a no decision in the Yankees win. Aaron Hicks had a key triple late in the game. Max Scherzer will make a minor league start tonight for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. The Mets beat the Marlins to take 3-of-4 in the series. The Lightning beat the Avalanche and we have play by play by Gio's favorite, Lightning radio. In the final segment of the hour, Brooks Koepka removes PGA Tour from his Twitter bio.
Hour 1: Jerry is in for Boomer today. Gio and Jerry open with talk about their weekend. Gio was at a recital that his daughter was involved in. He also watched a lot of sports on his phone while following his kids around the house. They were both disappointed in the US Open because of Matt Fitzpatrick winning. Mainly because many people have no idea who that is. With Jerry in for Boomer today, C-Lo is in for Jerry. We start with the Yankees, who blew a 5-run lead and lost to the Blue Jays 10-9. Josh Donaldson had a very arrogant bat flip after a HR. The Mets lost to the Marlins thanks to a HR by Jerar Encarnacion, who was playing in his first MLB game. The Lightning are down 2-0 to the Avalanche in the Stanley Cup Finals. Matt Fitzpatrick won the US Open and we hear from him. In the final segment of the hour, we talk about the NBA Finals ratings vs the NHL Playoff ratings. Jerry says his son knows everything about baseball but rarely watches live games outside of the Mets. He watches detailed recaps after the games. We talk about watching games live and how NBA games are pointless to watch until the final few minutes of the game.
Hour 2: The 7am hour starts with talk about the Mets and how last night was probably their worst game of the year. Not a big deal if they win the series against the Brewers. The Yankees are steamrolling everybody and Boomer says Brian Cashman deserves credit. Jerry returns for another update and starts with the Yankees winning again. There were audio issues with YES and David Cone's voice was slowed down. The Mets played a terrible game and lost to the Brewers. The Dodgers lost a no hitter in the ninth. Game 6 of the NBA Finals is tonight in Boston. Mekhi Becton met the media and says he will make his critics eat his words. The Avalanche beat the Lightning in Game 1 of the NHL Finals. In the final segment of the hour, we talk about a Long Island teenager who hit the gas instead of the brake and wound up in the water. We take a call from a listener who tells us where the sports gambling money goes in NJ.
The boys take a stab at picking the NHL playoffs the rest of the way, starting with the conference finals, and moving onto the Stanely Cup. We end by picking our top three jerseys.
