Succession planning involves identifying key organizationalpositions and developing action plans for individuals to take over those roles.By comprehensively understanding current and future goals, this preparationensures that the right people occupy the right roles both now and, in theyears, ahead. According to a recent survey commissioned by Scotiabank,Canadian small businesses are facing challenges related to succession planning. As many small business owners prepare for retirement, findings from the studyreleased in October 2024 indicate that approximately 31% of small businessowners in Canada intend to sell their businesses by 2030. The survey alsoreveals that about 65% of owners have a succession plan; however, 43% of thoseplanning to sell in six years or more do not have a plan. Business and Exit Strategist Stephanie Hayes believes anythingis possible if you create it yourself. She emphasizes that she is not youraverage business coach—her approach is anything but typical. At times, she maybe above average, and at others, she may be below average, but she guaranteesthat she will never remain stagnant. You don't want the average experience either, so you'rehere. You seek connection, thoughtful dialogue, intellect, and innovation. Eachday, you want to feel exceptional—better than average. Hayes is the founder of Assets to Exits, a pathway forestablished business owners to transition from merely generating revenue tobuilding wealth and preparing for a future exit from their businesses. Thebusiness community often focuses on startups and early growth phases, overlooking established businesses that are profitable yet may leave theirowners feeling stagnant, uninspired, or directionless. Many business ownersmistakenly believe that an exit strategy is only for Silicon Valley startups orventure-funded companies; however, most businesses have already created value. Theycan leverage that value and multiply it over time with some adjustments. Leveraging her expertise in business model design andinnovation strategy, Stephanie developed an asset-based business model to helpowners shift their focus and work towards a financially rewarding exit. For more information: https://stephaniehayes.biz/  LinkedIn: @StephanieHayes

We will learn: ·      Why your childhood experiences might be secretly driving your adult decisions (and how to change that) ·      The surprising reason why you and someone else can experience the exact same event completely differently ·      How understanding your core motivations can free you from repeating the same patterns over and over   Imagine you're trying to untangle a complex knot. You could just pull at random strings, hoping to make progress. Or you could study the pattern of the knot first, understanding exactly how it's twisted and turned, making the untangling process much more intentional and effective. That's what these frameworks can do when we use them wisely. Instead of using them to build our identity, we can use them to understand our attachments, our default patterns, and the stories we've been telling ourselves. They become mirrors showing us where we might be stuck, where we tend to grasp too tightly, and where we might need to pay extra attention in our personal growth work. This revelation hit me particularly hard when I started diving deep into the Enneagram system. Unlike other personality frameworks I'd encountered, this one seemed less interested in putting me in a box and more focused on showing me the box I'd already put myself in – and more importantly, how to think outside of it. Today our guest is Stephanie Hayes, an Enneagram expert who brings a fresh perspective to this ancient system of understanding human behavior. She's written "Enneagram in Real Life" and specializes in helping people use the Enneagram as a practical tool for growth rather than just another label to collect. In this episode, I'm sharing a special conversation with my mentor, friend, and business consultant, Stephanie Hayes. Stephanie specializes in building businesses from the ground up by focusing on creating assets that allow small business owners to earn income and serve in a way that feels aligned and fulfilling to them. Even though she is technically like a “business coach/consultant”, many of her clients say that working with her is more like having a business partner. What she's really amazing at doing is truly seeing the talent and vision in her clients before THEY even see it…and then finding a way to pull it out of them so they can create something that “feeds their brain” and keeps them excited about the work that they do.Stephanie and I have been working on creating a program called the School of Clinical Leadership which is launching in September 2022; which is a program designed to guide pediatric clinicians through creating a customized career path aligned with their strengths and their mission. Over the past month or so, we've been documenting the progress of this program development in a weekly series called Live Til Launch; and I wanted to share one of our episodes on the podcast. In this episode, we talk about the conception of the “micro-experiment” strategy and why it's an essential part of the way I mentor clinicians going through a career transition. We also talk about the internal struggle we all go through when we're doing something new that pushes us; how I've worked through that personally, and how to tame feelings of self-doubt when you're getting out of your comfort zone. In this episode, I mentioned the Clinical Leadership Roundtable, an ongoing event for pediatric clinicians that want to plan a career path that finally allows you to serve in a way that feels aligned and impactful.  You can join the Clinical Leadership Roundtable here.  I also mentioned the School of Clinical Leadership, my program designed to help clinicians launch the next stage of their career. Longview manage over 4000 properties, and Megan is renowned for helping landlords make great decisions, but also give renters, or prospective renters the best advice when applying for property.  1. What are property managers looking for in a tenant when they have a vacant property for lease? 2. What are some of the things that tenants do on their application that become a red flag for property managers? 3. How can prospective tenants apply for properties better? 4. What should prospective tenants do when attending inspections?      a. What are some things that could turn off an agent when prospective tenants attend inspections? 5. Why do some properties continue to be advertised after an applicant has been approved? 6. Say, I was a young uni student wanting to get a place with 3-4 mates, what should we put on our application to secure the lease?     a. How can we overcome any red flags that might put a landlord off? 7. Say I'm 20 - sick of living under Mum and Dad's roof and rules, I'm studying and not sure if I can get Austudy and have a casual job making $300 one week, sometimes $1000 another, my boyfriend has an apprenticeship so is on a low wage. What could help our application? 8. Another example, say I'm a 20-something single mum, and my parents said that I can't stay in the family home anymore. Any work that I do is pretty much the cost of childcare, I should be able to get rent assistance and I get some child support, what would make a landlord happy to have me as a tenant? 9. How about if I'm an international student on a student visa. My parents have saved and given me this opportunity to study in Melbourne, I'm not entitled to any government benefits in Australia, my parents are paying for my education but not my living expenses. I can work 20 hours a week on my visa. Do Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, and Cubans share an identity? The answer wasn’t necessarily clear before 1980. That’s when the Census Bureau introduced a pair of new terms, Hispanic and Latino, to its decennial count. The addition was the result of years of advocacy and negotiation: Being counted on the census meant the potential for far more government action, yet the broad category oversimplified the identities of an immense and diverse group.  “The way that we define ourselves is consequential,” says G. Castro-Olega’s death helped inspire an online memorial called Kanlungan, which honors the lives of health-care workers of Filipino descent.  This week on The Experiment, the story of why so many people—many of them women, many of them nurses—have left the Philippines to work in the American health-care system, and why they have been so disproportionately affected by the coronavirus pandemic. To the likes of Jerry Seinfeld and Eva Mendes they’re a sign of defeat; they declare to the world, as Jerry tells George Costanza in the Seinfeld pilot, “I’m miserable, so I might as well be comfortable.” And since the start of the pandemic, sweatpants have become perhaps more ubiquitous than ever. “A lot of people who had been going to offices stopped going to offices for the foreseeable future,” Amanda Mull, a staff writer for The Atlantic, says. “I think people were forced to decide what it is they want to wear for this new circumstance they’re in.” In this episode of the new podcast The Experiment, Mull and the host, Julia Longoria, trace sweatpants through U.S. history and debate an age-old question: Do they symbolize laziness, or freedom? Featuring an intriguingly eclectic cast—including experimental theater performers Hayes and Scott Shepherd, the musician Eleanor Friedberger, and Chloë Sevigny—Slow Machine follows an actress whose intimate relationship with a shadowy NYPD-affiliated operative ends abruptly and disastrously, leading her to hide out in a country house otherwise occupied by a band preparing their new record.
