Podcast Guesting: Owning your voice and Owning your Space (excerpts from a Clubhouse conversation with the Fempreneurs in Action - an international group of women entrepreneurs, action-takers and social impact leaders) I'm inspired this week - International Women's Day week - to really be looking at how we can and should, as women, be finding our voice about the things in which we passionately want to see change, to access the tools to get your voices, your opinions, your message heard - and to really sort it out within ourselves: what is it I'm passionate about? where is my purpose? where is my voice needed? - and how am I going to make what impact I can? Podcasts - and podcast guesting, in particular; being a guest on someone else's show, is one of the most accessible, yet powerful ways to be heard and have that impact. In the conversation we looked at:the shocking number on women's voices in places of power and impact  only 24% of elected government representative, a mere 30% of speakers on conference or event stages (just 25% in UK!), grossly under-represented in news reporting at just 24% of stories being about or reported on by women, - and just 20% of podcast hosts are women!!We are 51% of the population! We also talked about how you can strategically use podcast guest appearances to get your voice into the fray, tip the balance - #breakthebias - and help shift the social narrative and status quo.Nothing changes if nothing changes. Be the change!Nothing changes if nothing changes. Be the change!❓

Linda Murray Bullard is on a life and death mission. As a business woman & miracle COVID survivor she wants us to know: COVID and vaccine hesitancy can destroy everything you've worked for in your business - as well as your life and that of your family. #getvaccinated #surviveLinda is an unlikely survivor of COVID - she is the 1st person the hospital had treated in her demographic to have not died. She is a miracle outlier in a tragic story unfolding among the +black communities of Tennessee.  Linda wants that tragedy to stop. Her message: 80% of the white community is vaccinated/14% of the black community has had the shot. In the month she was fighting for her life, Sept-Oct 2021, 87% of COVID cases were unvaccinated people and 85% of COVID deaths in Tennessee were those unvaccinated patients.  Of the 3400 people hospitalized, 1790 - more than half - died.  Tennessee stopped publishing the race breakdown of COVID numbers many months ago but from these numbers, statistically speaking, we know the vast majority were people of colorLinda survived but lost so much.  She has a year of recovery ahead of herShe is reliant on an oxygen feed She is facing a bill of over $250,000 for the cost of her treatment Her business only survived because of the extensive automation she had in placeShe is continuing her work with small businesses to find funding and be more profitable thru automationButHer heart-felt mission is to break through the hesitancy, teach people how to feel assured in the safety of the vaccine they receive and to get people vaccinatedFind Linda at:https://GetTheBusiness.org https://www.linkedin.com/in/lindamurraybullardspeaks/ https://www.facebook.com/LSMBBusinessSolutions/ https://www.instagram.com/lsmbbusinesssolutions/ http://MustPlugIn.com

This is the She's All That video-podcast - conversations with women doing awesome shit!  I'm your host, September Smith and season 3 starts hereAs in other seasons, I am humbled and fascinated by my guests, their accomplishments, what they overcome and the ground they are breaking. This new season is all about the transformation these women are making in the aftermath of the ‘midlife bomb', as I call it - those unforeseen events - illness, loss, a termination, a battle, an awakening, or a transformation - events that are lobbed into our lives like a grenade, detonating the life we had been living for decades; there's no going back. When this happens, we are left to dust ourselves off, figure it out and find our own way forward. Some never move forward and live forever-after with the impact.  Season 3 is all about women who are creating their new path, moving forward into the uncertainty with guts, creativity and inspiring panache - women who own this new chapter, and are living it with new meaning and vision, stronger and bolder than ever. While the lens of popular culture is often on the tragedy and the trauma -  and the injury and damage it inflicts, I want to focus on, to tell the story of - to celebrate women who were only made stronger by what they experienced. Women having an impact, making a difference. We need to hear those stories to know that building that new life - that new incarnation - from the pieces of ‘what was' is not just possible - it may be the best thing you'll ever do.In this season we are going to get into topics that are topical and timely for any and all of us navigating a changing world and changing circumstances.  At no time in my life has change been happening at such an incredible pace and having such a huge impact on our world, our relationships, how we live our lives and how we see each other. My guests are going to take us into conversations that need to be had - issues, dangers and risks that societally get swept under the rug and are not on our radar until they strike us personally, changing our lives forever.  We need to have these conversations to make the ‘unforeseen' foreseeable. Forewarned is forearmed.I am also thrilled to talk to them about their brave and creative responses to what might have sidelined another or have been just too overwhelming to deal with. And where it is all taking them.  Their stories are all still unfolding  - and who knows where their path will ultimately take them but make no mistake - they are making change - good change - And I'm inspired and excited to share it with you.Our Speakpipe link for leaving us a voice message: https://www.speakpipe.com/msg/s/243387/1/nqgtdvmt2ns9ualpThis season you'll witness the many women who are leveraging podcast guest appearances to get their very important messages out to the world.  Whether it's to grow your speaking career, to get more widely known, or to better position yourself as the authority you really are - strategic podcast guesting is a savvy move. We can help you figure out your best strategy and get you rapidly and effectively launched leveraging this powerful medium.Contact us at september@ofcoursepro.com- or book a complimentary consultation call - https://discoveryofcourse.as.me/PodcastGuestFastTrack.

Teaching them how to drop the self-sabotage and take consistent, imperfect action, to get over themselves and be seen, all to grow their business AND their revenue with confidence. After growing her own profitable business and experiencing failed businesses along the way, Natalie knows that success is all about mindset, imperfect action and consistency.  She shares the lessons of her journey with clients and helps them move past fear masquerading as perfectionism with mindset, accountability and her step by step process for simplifying and creating sales consistently. Natalie says:"I speak about the truth and realness of being a woman in business.  Because contrary to glossy social media highlights, there’s no such thing as perfect. Not in life. Inspired by the concepts of ecological engineering and ecosystem services, Blanca did a master's and doctorate in the US investigating how tropical and temperate wetlands (eg. marshes, riparian forests, or mangroves) mitigate climate change by sequestering carbon and improve water quality of hydrographic basins. During her post-doctorate she delved into the biogeochemical aspects of carbon sequestration in coastal wetlands, and its application to mitigation and adaptation strategies to climate change.  10:30 - her experience as a member of Homeward Bound ~ a ground-breaking, global leadership initiative, set against the backdrop of Antarctica, which aims to heighten the influence and impact of women in making decisions that shape our planet. 13:30 - the crucial role Antarctica plays in world climate15:32 - Co-founding ELLAS LIDERAN ~ a group of scientists that promotes diversity in leadership for climate action, building bridges between science, society and decision-making for a more just and sustainable future.19:05 - why positive outcomes are not possible with old male-only paradigms23:08 - is it too late to do anything about climate change?24:22 - what can we, as individuals, do?27:08 - Co-authoring science-based books for Children under the sub-group Ellas Educan (We Educate) ~which aims to educate and inspire the little ones (and the not so little ones) to become critical adults in a society saturated with low-quality or unverified information.  Why have we written a book on viruses if our main concern is sustainability?  Because our health and the health of the planet are totally connected. It's environmental destruction by capitalism), 4. Pandemic Recovery Japan, 5. Children's Welfare, and 6. Gender Equity◆Happy International Women's Day 2021!◆ It was an honor to have the opportunity to mark this Women's Day with a conversation with Japanese friends of IWD, catch up with what's happening there this year with respect to gender equality, and talk with a woman who is embodying the motto for IWD 2021 - "Choose to Challenge" - as she campaigns to become the first female major of Nagoya, Japan's 4th largest city in one of the country's most conservative prefectures. I am also hugely grateful to my guests for agreeing to have this challenging conversation in their second language because after 15 years away, my Japanese sucks! With my guests, Keiko Ogata 尾形けいこ様 and Akane Kurihara 栗原茜様, we talk about Keiko's current campaign in the Nagoya Mayoral election coming up this April 25th and her 4 main campaign planks, all requiring more thorough input, involvement and decision-making by women at every level of power.Like elsewhere, the 2020 Pandemic in Japan exposed many social issues around economic and gender equality and the outcomes have been dire. A new and urgent awareness has been growing over the last few years and activism around International Women's Day is back on the calendar in Japan, with numerous events happening around the country highlighting the need for change. ◆ Connect with these two change-makers【グリーン再生なごや】~尾形けいこと名古屋を変えよう!~代表:尾形けいこmailto:ogatakeikonagoya@gmail.comhttp://ogatakeiko.jp/--------------------------------------------◆Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ogatakeiko202104◆Twitter: https://twitter.com/ogatakeiko758◆Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ogata_keiko_nagoya/ ◆公式LINE: https://lin.ee/MGTfTPH◆Youtube尾形けいこチャンネル:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCz5wdb1YB-eTbVq8VFBI5xwCatch the video version of our interview at https://youtu.be/7D1XZRRAp4s

Told she had 2 years to live in her 20s, a double lung-transplant recipient, a business founder, certified neuroscience-based resilience coach and co-founder of a foundation supporting world-class researchers and specialists to help extend and save lives ... Yup - Wendy Jenkins is a "woman doing awesome shit" - my favorite kind!!Last year, while you and I were losing our shit trying to cope with the panic, fear and uncertainty we faced, my guest, Wendy Jenkins was drawing on a lifetime of experience and training in Resilience to give her clients the skills they needed to deal.Being given just 2 years to live, undergoing a double lung transplant, and having this change all the life plans she and her husband had had, Wendy eventually came back stronger, building a business that helps people build their resilience and wellbeing, harnessing coaching and a neuroscience-based AI platform to do so, AND creating a powerful foundation that funds critical primary transplant research that has helped make Australia a leader in transplant innovation. Listen in for her fascinating story, her tips and techniques to build your resilience AND some of the biohacks she shares with her clients.I help busy people boost their resilience and wellbeing by using neuroscience based resilience. A combination of an online AI platform and coaching. My main audience is small to medium businesses who want to support their employees, and individuals who are wanting to increase their resilience skillsWhen asked what her impact is, she says "it's two-fold. Firstly, supporting world-class researchers and specialists to help extend and save lives. Secondly, to inspire people to make the most of life, despite any adversity or challenges that come their way, by harnessing the power of neuroscience based resilience." Wendy has faced many challenges, including short life expectancy, severe depression & PTSD, not being able to have children, having to leave a corporate career & many health issues. However despite much adversity, Wendy has now channeled her experiences into a positive approach to life that inspires many. Wendy has helped found Lungitude, one of Australia's medical research not-for-profits, and spends her time helping busy people to boost their resilience & wellbeing through her business, Ready Resilience, drawing from her own experiences and training.Wendy speaks regularly about her journey, the power of neuroscience based resilience, and encourages us all to make the most out life, no matter what comes our way.You can connect with Wendy at:https://readyresilience.com/https://www.facebook.com/readyresiliencehttps://www.linkedin.com/in/resiliencecoaching/Have YOU considered being a podcast guest to help grow your business? 7 Women, 7 Businesses, 1 Pandemic - a 2020 snapshot

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 11, 2021 10:39

The 2020 business stories of these 7 women entrepreneurs gives us a snapshot of what was and what's to come for small business, online or otherwise - and all in the context of the disproportionate economic impact on women last year - a far-reaching and under-reported issue. This short episode gives the background, the stories and 3 key take-aways for small business, going forward. These entrepreneurs were guests of my podcast and are all true 2020 stories. The impact that the events of last year had on these women tell the story of the people, the small businesses and the rise in entrepreneurship in 2020. Each of them were all fighting to ride 2020 issues as they either started their business - by necessity or choice, pivoted business focus to surf the tidal wave, or modified operations to deal with new limitations to how they could do business. Those profiled here are:Janelle Benjamin - started her own Diversity and Equity consultancy in this last precarious year through necessity but with determination to make a difference in the ongoing racial inequities in the workplace.Tara Thompson - left her hospital job to start an online prenatal program to get the right education and support to women anywhere going thru their pregnancy in lock-down and to help stem the tide of maternal deaths. In addition she started the Nourish in Atlanta charity to help feed new moms in need in those critical first 6 weeks.Susan Boelman saw her business - outdoor adventure retreats for women - stopped cold when COVID hit. She modelled resiliency through nature through her private Facebook group and has pivoted to create virtual outdoor skills events to keep her business going until she can resume her thrilling live events.Laurie Stewart - an early COVID patient with debilitating effects last man months, saw her life and business hugely impacted. She had to pivot to offer virtual consultations to her clients but also lost an income stream when her long-affiliated supplement company revamped their sales model to survive the downturn, leaving their most-female representative high and dry.Tahsha Bennett - found authorship, online publishing and in 2020 published her 4th self-help book, "Depression During COVID", added online coaching and, in the dying days of last year - after being on MY podcast, decided that was the perfect addition to how she helped her clients, and founded her own podcast "I Said It with No Edit".Caroline Ferguson - CEO Mindset Trainer and Cognitive Behavioral Hypnotherapist, saw her business go almost exclusively online allowing her to work with clients from various locations in the UK, and support her elderly parents in lock-down in Scotland. She also diversified her income streams with an entry into property rentals.Heidi Hackler - uthor and holistic health coach, was the entrepreneur most prepared for what 2020 threw at us. For the last 7 years, Heidi has lived aboard and run her business from her 40 foot sailboat on the Pacific coast of Mexico. She has done all this online for years and offers programs, consultations and also reps a line of supplements that she recommends for her clients, and all from the galley of her boat. When the necessity for isolation arose, Heidi and husband Kurt were already well set-up for that, able to independently live aboard, store the food and supplies they would need for weeks at a time, AND stay in touch with all her clients. The takeaways from their stories and experiences:1. you need to have more than one stream of income2. you need to be ready to overcome your issues with tech and get your biz online3. you need to be creative, resilient and flexible to meet the demands of business today
